Ok the servers at this restaurant are rude. I sat down at 6:45 on a Saturday evening and before I had a chance to even look at the menu, the server (wearing glasses, you know who you are) told me that they get busy around 8 so I need to be out by then. Really? I get turning tables and getting antsy if customers dilly around after dinner but to be so out front of his expectation as I just sat down was utterly unbelievable. Great food and friendly staff. The sandwiches are tasty, and the prices are low for the amount of food you get. Delivery can be hit or miss, though -- I've had orders show up in 15 minutes and others take more than an hour. I've had great experiences each time I've eaten in, though -- the staff are very friendly and very helpful. read more

We came there when nobody was inside, we ordered everything and got dishes after about a hour, people who came after us got their dishes faster. Waiter was rude and was almost near to throw dishes on the table when we asked why dishes are not served yet. I've enjoyed everything I've tasted here. The istanbul kabob has great flavor and the spices are just right. The coffees and drinks have rich flavors. The tables are small and meant for two people but you can easily put tables and chairs together. You can sit outside and people watch as well. Turkish coffe is well made and fun. read more

The chicken was soft and moist, which can easily be over cooked and dried out with kabobs, but theirs was not. we have been frequent patrons of this eatery. yesterday i placed a take out order of our favorite dish....not sure if new ownership...staff all appear to be new...but the food was truly terrible..meats in the shawarma were totally dry...tasteless! even the extra sauce [which they charged for] didnt make it any tastier! my wife's vegeterian plate was way over spiced....not edible!..never the case on previously. don't beliveve that we shall be returning...disappointed! read more

My husband and I were desperately wandering around Los Angeles looking for something to eat on Christmas evening, not wanting to settle for Denny's. We found Cafe Istanbul on yelp and were super excited that a real restaurant was open. We showed up around 4:00pm and were happy that we were seated right away. The girls working there were super sweet and the food was actually pretty good. Obviously, it's not quite as good as what you would find in Istanbul, but I liked it.
