Overall: 5 Stars I loved my first visit to Cafe Kopi. This is a great addition to Kailua and Oahu. I'll definitely be returning and telling my friends about this spot.  Vibes: 5 Stars This starts with the very warm and hospitable owners, Ernest and Jeanne. They make you feel like ohana from the moment you walk in. I chilled there for a nice relaxing time with friends, but I could totally see myself coming there to get some work done.  Coffee: 5 Stars Had an iced mocha and an iced matcha. They weren't too sweet, which was exactly what I wanted. Pastries: 5 Stars The homemade bread pudding was my favorite. They poured a yummy sauce over the top after ordering.  So good!  I also had the chocolate croissant, which was nice and flakey.  The almond looked really good too, will have to try that one next time. read more

Tried this cafe over the weekend, they were checking vaccination cards which was nice. Tried their Laksa, dumplings, almond croissant, and matcha green tea. The best thing was the almond croissant followed by the laksa. The dumplings were very small and both my friend and I thought the filling was very mushy. The matcha green tea was bland and went I went to ask for syrup, they didn't have any.  We ended up spending $40 plus dollars on four items which I felt didn't match what it was worth. Cafe Kopi is an exceptional coffee shop with a nice selection of freshly baked pastries and Asian dishes. My fiancee and dog have enjoyed going here nearly every weekend. The coffee is excellent, everything I've had has been delicious, but their Americano is the best I've had. There baked goods are delicious as well, my favorite is their bread pudding, but we've also tried the lilikoi cheesecake and fruit tart and enjoyed them. Last but not least the pot stickers and weekend Laksa are to die for! The pot stickers are full of flavor, and the laksa reminded us of a dish we loved in Thailand, Khao soi, it's so delicious. It was great to meet and speak with Jeanne, who is always very welcoming and fun to talk to. The staff is great as well and it's dog friendly! Plenty of parking in the back as well. Cafe Kopi is really easy to find. They are located conveniently close to nearby bus stops and it's like a 3-5 mins walks. If you are coming from Honolulu then bus Route 66 and 67 are your friends! As for the cafe itself, it is super cute. The food looks great, and the staff are very nice and easy to talk to. I came on Sunday itself to try their Laksa and I love it! Shoutout to Kat and Milani for chitchatting with us and making this trek out of the city worth it. They have regular utensils next to the area where you can pick up your food, and if you are doing takeout there is another spot for takeout utensils. I didn't try any drinks, but my friend's grandma love their chai latte that she got another one! I would say if you are interested in their sweets try the ones in the display! read more

I had to do a quick errand to Kailua but because it was a drive for me decided to make my drive worthwhile and look for a coffee place while in town. I accidentally came across this little gem and was so glad that I did. I had my usual drink at any coffee place, an almond milk latte but added on some Mac nut syrup. This cafe kopi has to be one of the top lattes I've had. The beans are smooth and delicious, not bitter. I also resist pastries especially when they look so good. Unfortunately I forgot to take a pic. Had the pain au chocolate. It was delicious. Huge! A flaky crust! Goey chocolate center! Need I say more! THE SKINNY: An indie cafe/coffee shop you can actually sit and work at if you like. In a coffee shop/cafe mashup, I'm interested in decent, affordable brewed coffee, a place to sit, serviceable wi-fi, and, preferably, a power outlet. Cafe Kopi had all of this. Unlike other coffee shops and cafes on Oahu, CK does not have you waiting in line for 20 minutes every time you go, nor do you feel like you need to rush out the door because it's too crowded. I didn't order any food the two times I visited. I can vouch for their brewed coffee as well as their peppermint mocha; both were great. I hope CK keeps going strong for a long time. If so, I imagine it'll be a haunt of mine on my yearly visits to the island. read more

And to pull it off perfectly with the right amount of peanut butter and jam while maintaining flakiness to still be a good croissant was amazing! I've been on the hunt for cute cafes and saw that there was a brand new spot in Kailua. I made the 25 min drive from town and headed to Cafe Kopi to meet a friend. Their location is easy to find as they're on the corner of Kainehe and Kihapai (nearby other popular spots such as Beet Box Cafe and Moke's B&B). I parked a bit down and walked over... but they actually have their own parking lot! I'll look better for it next time. As you walk in, you're greeted by the baristas and the owner Jeanne herself! She welcomed us in and showed her love for the space she's creating. Cafe Kopi will have a bright future of community events, freshly baked pastries/desserts from around the world, and be a safe lil retreat during all of the craziness. Generous amount of open seating offered with the regular cozy lounge area inside, and TWO outdoor seating areas. I typically avoid crowded areas due to covid - but despite the new cafe hype, I felt safe in their open, airy, and socially distanced environment. Most importantly... They bake their pastries fresh every morning! I got the classic croissant which was buttery perfection. My friend got the almond croissant which had a sweet filling and sort of like almond cookie crust on top... delicious! Next time, I think I'd ask for it to be warmed up though but I don't know if this is an option as it wasn't offered. The cold brew was out the day I went so I got a regular latte. I could actually taste the espresso instead of just sweetness and milk unlike some other coffee shops. You could also add flavored syrups or change the type of milk. I will definitely return! It would be hard for me to try the other baked goods they offer as I love a good classic croissant... I think I need to bring more friends over so there's more to share... read more

100% recommend. An amazing cafe with an even more amazing owner! Per Jeanne's (the owner) recommendations, we got the Iced Jeanne's Fav (vanilla lavender latte) and the Iced Matcha Lavender Latte (custom drink). Both drinks were delicious! The matcha lavender iced latte is not on the menu yet, but they are planning to add it to the regular menu soon named after the customer who created it! Just had a superb cappuccino, which frankly can be hard to find on O'ahu. The Laksa and baked goods are amazing! Unfortunately, someone on the staff thought that playing heavy grunge rock was relaxing, which it's just not for anyone over 40. Recommend they check into world cafe music and jazz for a better vibe for us oldsters. Otherwise, always a delite to hang out here - great ambiance, cheerful and fast service, and good wifi. read more

We had a terrible time at this place. While the coffee was ok, they had run out of ice (at 10am on a Monday?) and took over an hour to bring us our two bagels with cream cheese. After we kept checking to see if they were ready, the staff kept saying they were "making it now". Finally I went in and the girl said, so did you want bagels? Or croissants? This was after at least 45 minutes of waiting. After that it was at least another 15 or 20 minutes before we got the bagels. Insane! Don't waste your time coming here. read more

Tldr; great cafe. honestly, go check it out! My friend's and I enjoy finding new and cute cafe's to go to; this place was actually recommended to us via social media with great reviews so we decided to go and check it out. They are located in Kailua so for those who live in town, it is a bit of a drive --but I promise it's worth it! Their location is pretty easy to find, and when my friend and I went, we easily found parking (they have metered parking right in front of the cafe). The first step into the cafe had me thinking about how cozy it felt, I loved the ambience and the many tables. I also enjoyed seeing all the beautiful paintings on the walls (which they are selling). The overall bakery and drink selections were great. The pastries looked delicious through the glass display and my friend and I almost ordered one of everything. Admittedly, I think the drink selection could be a little bigger but this cafe is new and is in their soft opening so that's not really a big deal as i'm sure it will expand as time goes on. I got an iced Americano and my friend ordered a lavender + vanilla Latte; we also ordered a fruit tart, bread pudding, and a lilikoi cheescake. Everything we ordered was great! I'm not exactly a coffee lover, i'm more of a tea gal (and yet I ordered an Americano...) but I still really enjoyed both of the drinks (the lavender/vanilla latte was really good!). All the pastries we bought were delicious, my favorite was hands down the fruit tart though it was soo good! I actually like the crust so yeah the crust itself was great, but also the fruits were sweet and juicy and shiny:) The bread pudding was great too, and it was a pretty big slice they gave us. The lilikoi cheescake suprise surprise was also great; it has a good strong lilikoi flavor which I enjoyed. Last but not least...the owners, they were so kind! They took the time to come and talk to us and asked us how we enjoyed everything and told us about new things they had planned. I forgot her name (i'm so sorry!) but the lady boss:) offered a sample of a new drink item that she was planning to put on the menu: Singapore style coffee. It was so good! Like honestly I really liked it and would definitely order it if it was on the menu next time I go. If you've ever had Vietnamese coffee, it's kind of like that but..creamier I would say. It's sweet, but not too sweet and still has a good coffee flavor, and the after taste is like no other coffee I have ever had. It's different but really good! This little cafe has a great vibe to it! There's a fun mix of music playing and they have local artists displayed on the walls. The food options are always evolving, today I got the dumplings which were amazing!! And had the perfect amount of spice to them. When we sat down the owners came and talked story with us. OMG the laksa was so good. I got there close to 10 am on Saturday and was told it was a 20 minute wait. I ate half an almond croissant while I waited at the outside tables in the back. It was probably ready within 15 minutes, and it was well worth the wait! The bowls seemed small, but I was super full by the end. The broth had a really nice flavor. I will definitely come back to order again in the future. Between the shrimp, egg, tofu puff, bean sprouts, noodles, and coconut curry broth, I pushed myself to finish. Found out about this place from a friend. Had to try it out. We drove all the way from Mililani this morning and the food here was definitely worth the drive! The kids had pesto Turkey sandwiches and I had the kaya toast and we also shared the most delicious laksa soup with my wife. Went here after getting other foods in the area. But I thought I could still try a bakery and find an almond croissant after Starbucks discontinued selling them. Didn't have much time to research so when I got there I looked for parking and looked like it was only street parking, but I think there's actually a parking lot on the opposite side of the building. It was not an issue. It was a Thursday morning, so it was not that busy. Still busy with no parking out front but still found parking nearby. Went in, and first thing was looking at the yummy goodness they have on display. I went for the chocolate peanut butter tart, and you guessed it, the almond croissant! They asked if I wanted it toasted, but I wanted to save it for later, so I said no. I also got a drink, a mocha with macnut syrup. Loved it! I loved the almond croissant, and my husband and I ate the tart together. He absolutely loved it and asked when we could go get another. The macnut cream puff was good, but their matcha latte was way too bitter. The barista didn't have the right ratio of milk and matcha. Plus it was too runny and filled to the brim so the drink spilled as I carefully tried to bring it to my table. I noticed that one of the tables outside wasn't cleaned up and a new customer had to clean it up herself so she could sit down. It was annoying that the cashier didn't think to remove the signs for pastries that they've run out of. There were 3 people including me who asked for the blueberry cream cheese croissant that was sold out and they still haven't removed the sign. Wow. We have been CRAVING good Laksa since our last visit to Singapore right before COVID started, and this ABSOLUTELY hits the spot! The flavors were perfectly balanced and left us wanting another bowl. If you've had laksa in Malaysia or Singapore, you'll know that there's a specific taste to it that no other restaurant here (so far) has been able to really get right. Came here for the a taste of Malaysia/Singapore. ..Laksa. I loved the broth, it was rich and potent without being greasy! It was not as spicy as ones I've tried in SE Asia, which is what I prefer anyway. I highly recommend it, they should start serving kaya toast next! Finally made it to Kailua's newest cafe and it's safe to say I'm hooked! We ordered an iced Mac nut latte with almond milk, a mac nut mocha, a ham and cheese croissant, and the Singapore laksa. Everything exceeded my expectations and the flavors were phenomenal! I'm about to go every weekend for the laksa. It hit all the flavor profiles I could ever want in a soup - it was creamy and spicy plus the shrimp and eggs were cooked perfectly! I was so excited when Cafe Kopi popped up on my IG. I travel almost yearly to Singapore for a foodie vacation but b/c Covid . I've tried almost all places in HNL that served laksa but they didn't satisfy. As a NYker, driving isn't my forte but my stomach said otherwise. Instead of taking a 19 hr plane ride or MRT to eat awesome Laksa, I drove. When I arrived, it was busy. I was greeted by the friendly staff and owner Jeanne! Her husband was friendly and smiley while he was fulfilling the busy flow of Laksa orders. I ordered an ice matcha latte & Laksa. The matcha latte was just right. They serve my fave type of Laksa which is the Nonya /coconut curry type. It came with shrimp, sprouts, tofu and al dente noodles. The consistency and taste brought me back to SG. The ingredients tasted fresh especially the soup base with the perfect blend of spices with a hint sweetness. The almond croissants were sold out but I was able to take away the Lilikoi cheesecake and Kopi jelly with coconut cream! Looking forward to more "road trips" to try more yummy goodness! Came here to try the Laksa, and it did not disappoint! Laksa is a mildly spicy coconut soup. The tofu in the laksa was SOOO good! After talking to the owner she told us she has to source the homemade tofu from a lady in China town. I do suggest making the portions of soup a little bigger. They only serve laksa on Saturday and Sunday. Will be back to try the dumplings and everything else on the menu..! I had seen Cafe Kopi's laksa on social media for over a year but never had a chance to go down to Kailua on the weekends. When I saw they had a special Friday offering of laksa at the end of last year, I knew I had to take the opportunity to try. I enjoyed the hot mocha drink I had the last time I was here. The mocha I just had was not drinkable, the order was the same. It was the most bitter sour espresso drink I've ever tasted. This includes espresso I've made at home and accidentally burned. The reason I was given was that I ordered it with only a little milk, so it was mostly espresso in the cup. I said I regularly drink plain espresso shots (I have dark roast shots almost daily) The choices I was given were to have it remade, and it would taste the same or... maybe add something to it. She added more milk, it was still very bitter. This was frustrating and disappointing. No need to give these nice gals a hard time on a short staffed day, so rather than complain again or try to get a refund I ended up throwing it out. What a cute little cafe! After having lunch in Kaneohe, we drove to Kailua for coffee. This place has laksa on the weekends and other Singaporean food. I'm definitely going to come back and try it. We just wanted coffee, so we ordered at the counter and the server brought it to our table. This place has a very comfortable, homey vibe and several people were on their Ipads and looked like were spending their time there. The bread pudding was moist and delicious and not too sweet. The coffee was very good. We mostly enjoyed the atmosphere while we sat and chatted, and relaxed after lunch. I only had the Laksa and Pomelo Tea today because it was limited edition and they were only serving it for the weekend! It was SO GOOD. The broth was thick and rich and reminded me so much of home The Pomelo Tea was also very refreshing and light! Jeanne was also very friendly and kind! Well...I drove an hour from Laie because someone told me they serve Asian food. There are 3 or 4 items on the menu which can be referred to as "Asian". The most interesting one is Laksa, that is only served Friday, Saturday and Sunday. It is a coffee shop with some lunch offerings. Went into Cafe Kopi in hopes of getting my milk tea fix. Milk tea was not very good. It was very watered down and was more tea than milk taste. Employee was nice enough to change it up and made me a chai tea instead. I had requested to add condensed milk to sweeten it. The chai tea was a tad bite better but still watered down and not creamy/milky like how I'm used to when getting them at other coffee shops. Dessert: I got the lilikoi cheesecake. It wasn't like a creamy cheesecake. It was more dry and crumbly like brownie and cheesecake texture. Sad to say that if I was craving milk tea around the area, I would pass up on this location. Came here while I was waiting for my engine oil to get changed at the nearby Goodyear. This is a cute little place across the street from the hardware store. They have a couple of tables out front on the sidewalk and a bunch in the back which feels a lot less cramped. There's also seating indoors. And since they have the front and back doors open the whole time there was plenty of air flow inside in case you're concerned from a COVID perspective. I got the Kopi Peng (Singaporean iced coffee) and the pain au chocolat. The coffee was good but nothing special. It just tasted like a regular, albeit quality, iced coffee with cream and sugar. I'm not sure which part makes it Singaporean... The pastry was bomb though. Buttery and flaky. Chocolate was nice and melted. And with powdered sugar on top. I've got a KOPIous amount of love for this place. I discovered this place by way of one of my Instagram foodie friends. She had become a regular in such a short amount of time, so my BFF and I had to see what the hype was about. Going towards Lanikai on Kihapai Street, you'll see a dark grey line of shops on your right. Directly before the shops is a narrow driveway where parking is FREE for customers of Cafe Kopi and neighboring shops. You can enter the back of the cafe from the parking lot, or if you are unable to locate the driveway like my BFF and I were, you can enter from the front of the shop after finding metered street parking. I appreciate that Cafe Kopi has a diverse menu of coffee, tea, and savory and sweet baked goods. I LOVE that they have signature laksa on the weekends and that they have puppiccino all days of the week for your fur baby to enjoy. *Jeanne's fave (vanilla lavender latte; $6.75 for an iced 16 oz cup): really creamy with a subtle lavender flavor. *kopi peng (Singapore iced coffee; $6 for 16 oz): prepared with condensed milk, this is a sweet and creamy treat. *cubano croissant ($6.50): the BEST FREAKING CROISSANT I'VE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE. no lie, this is EPIC! Stuffed with juicy and smoky kalua pork, BBQ sauce, mozzarella, and pickle, then twice-baked, it's sure to induce tears of joy. *pumpkin spice croissant ($6.50): stuffed with pumpkin pie filling, this is bound to make you squeal in delight. *Chinese dumplings with pork and veggies ($8 for 6 pieces): so juicy! The presentation is also spot on with the beautiful plate, sweet chili sauce, and savory dipping sauce. *Chinese vegan dumplings with mushroom and tofu ($8 for 6 pieces): same sentiment as the non-vegan version. I was excited to try the Laksa noodles here, but the $18 Laksa turned out to be a bit disappointing. First of all, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the amount of soup. Was I wrong to hope to be served a full bowl of soup? In fact, there was so little soup in my bowl, I couldn't even see it in there! However, the presentation was nice with boiled egg, plump shrimps (4 of them!!!) and fried tofu on the noodles. Disappointingly, my first bite was quite sad as the noodles were lukewarm. Although the soup had the perfect spiciness, the serving temperature made the whole food experience disappointing. I have mixed feelings about this place, but absolutely needed to come after reading about it in Honolulu Magazine. I love laksa and those flavors! I stopped by this Sunday after a hike and the line was out the door. Parking in their lot was easy, and the wait was reasonable. I ordered the laksa, the almond croissant, ham and cheese croissant, and Singaporean coffee. While the sign said the wait would be about 20-25 minutes for laksa, it was out in maybe 7-8. I ended up waiting longer for my other items, but enjoyed soaking in the atmosphere and also got to hang out with my dog in doors. The place was very busy and thankfully has a good array of outdoor seating. Tables seemed to turn over quickly, so don't let that discourage you. I ended up ripping into the almond croissant on my drive home - it was SOOO GOOD. I don't even think you can call it a breakfast pastry...it's so rich!! It was sooo divine - super buttery, tender crumbs, an almond filling that actually oozed it was so butter loaded, and lots of sugar. I THOROUGHLY enjoyed it. The laksa was tasty and still very piping hot when I got home, though the soup was a limited likely from it soaking through the noods. Overall, the food was good, but I don't live close, and even if I did, the pricing is a little hard to swallow. $18 for a bowl of laksa, and a $2 up charge for rice noodles? I love rice noods but couldn't justify a $20 bowl for take out that I drove 20 minutes to get myself. The croissant at $6 I guess is reasonable for Hawaii...and given how delicious and butter-laden it was...that actually is about the pricing for Hawaii. If I were in the area, I'd probably get it, but I definitely wouldn't make this a very regular thing. $6 for the Singaporean coffee - was tasty, but I doubt you'd know it was "Singaporean coffee" because there wasn't anything about it that distinguished it from "a good iced coffe". Given all that...I'd come again, but it's not a "lunch spot" - it's more of an event. And I'd share a bowl of noods and get the rest of my lunch somewhere else. Like I couldn't believe I spent nearly $50 at a cafe for lunch take out for two and didn't even get two entrees. I'm wondering how the menu will evolve as the hype declines. I certainly would come back again for the pastries, which are incredible. Additionally, Malaysian food is a rare treat on the island and it was good, but a trip to Cafe Kopi is definitely a splurge. read more
