This is my favorite Italian restaurant on Staten Island. There brick oven pizza is absolutely amazing. The rest of there appetizers are out of this world. My family goes to Cafe Luna for every family occasion including birthdays, graduations, father's days, etc. and we are never disappointed! I recommend the red sangria and the filet of sole. My boyfriend recommends the linguine in white clam sauce! The outside looks dingy and out of place but it's actually nice inside. The service is always great and prompt. read more

This has the be the worst customer service I've ever experienced in my life. I have celiac and called ahead to book a party for my mom's birthday. They said they had gluten free options for me. When I got there there was not a single person working in the restaurant that even knew what gluten was and told me I wouldn't be able to eat there. I asked to speak to the chef and he was so rude and actually threw a package of gluten free spaghetti at me and told me he didn't know how to cook it. We were a party of 10 and we all left. The food was pretty good, but talk about snobby horrible service. We went to this strip mall establishment based on word of mouth. Upon entering we were ignored for a good ten minutes before anyone would seat us in the half empty dining room. Then it was a good fifteen more minutes before getting a glass of water or even the attention of a waiter who was clearly more interested in other tables. We decided to just order pasta based on how terrible the service was up until that point and cut our losses. The waiter let us know how much he didn't like us ordering just pasta with his look of utter disgust. As I said before, the Linguine Nere and Fettuccine Alfredo were pretty good, however for what we paid, it barely covered the bottom of the plate. I don't believe I could have paid more to be treated worse by any restaurant. Thankfully there was a friendly McDonald's drive-thru a few stores down the strip mall to fill us up. read more

This place is good, but not great. I had started the lobster goat cheese salad special the lobster wasn't fresh and the salad lacked dressing that wasn't good. My friend had the stuffed shrimp appetizer which was good. For dinner I had the stuffed chicken special which was good. My friend had the scallop special which came with enormous scallops I tasted that and thought it was good as well. For dessert the lava cake was decent and cheesecake was very good. The service was excellent no complaints there. I frequently attend the old bridge NJ location and that just cannot compare if anyone lives in staten island that one is worth the drive! This one just doesn't live up to that location. Don't get me wrong food was good, but nothing mind blowing like the old bridge location. The food was great, but this is a shady business. We paid with a credit card and they charged us a surcharge. Isn't this illegal in New York State? Any lawyers out there can confirm? When I asked about it in the front, the guy pulled out a little sign from behind the counter that even my fine 29 year old eyes had trouble reading that said they charge a surcharge for using a credit card. Pizza was great. Which is all I can say. Filet of sole was over cooked. Steak was horrible. Veal parm...no good. Dessert... sorbet was great. A cut above typical Italian food. Wait staff is attentive, doesn't seem to pack it in as they once did. Biggest negative... the menu, it has been the same for so long. I was here about a year ago, and the menu had a note on it saying "No Cigar or Pipe Smoking"... If your menu has been the same since you were able to smoke a cigarette in the dining room, it may be time to get cracking on some new ideas. Excellent food, wine, and service. Not terribly expensive. What more can you ask for? For appetizers, we ordered the fried calamari and a portobello mushroom special. The calamari was just ok, I've had much better. The mushroom was delicious with a strong garlic flavor. Entrees were chicken francese and rigatoni vodka. Both were excellent. The chicken had a nice lemony flavor and the rigatoni was perfectly al dente. Even with a bottle of white wine, the meal was still very affordable. I'll be back. read more

I love this place and have been here quite a few times since moving to Staten Island. Everything on the menu is good and I always either get penne vodka or pizza because they really do it right. Honestly, this is some quality Italian food. Yeah, it's situated in a little strip mall complex, but don't be deceived. I was hesitant to go here because it's in the strip mall and the sign is pretty dated but after reading the review of someone basically saying "don't be fooled by the strip mall", decided to give it a try. Got seated quickly and got greeted by our very friendly and attentive waiter. Bread basket and dinner entrees were delicious and the fresh tiramisu was one of the best I've ever had. I've passed and heard good things about this restaurant for many years. Never had opportunity to eat there. Last night was my first visit. 7:30 reservation turned into an actual seating at 8PM because of a large party they booked. Weak excuse. No real waiting area, except at the door. Very uncomfortable and awkward. Noisy too. We sat at 8pm. Fortunate to be seated in a quiet section where we could hear each other. Appetizers we choose we're breaded artichoke and mozzarella carozza. Artichoke was good. Mozzarella was very very plain, void of flavor. My main dish was Veal Parm which was spectacular. Pounded thin, no grizzle or cartilage and the sauce was just perfect. Other meals were grilled shrimp & a baked pasta which everyone enjoyed. Price was a drop higher than anticipated but decent value. The service was above average. All in all, I would frequent again. read more

I used to come to cafe luna growing up, but haven't been there in so many years! I was recommended here recently, so went for dinner. The reason they lost a star was for service. It was not that they were rude, instead they were not attentive. We waited for 10 minutes for someone to come over to us and ask if we wanted water. Otherwise their food was great with big portions. We started with the (seasonal) stuffed artichoke, which was good. I had the salmon on the menu, which was above average to me! A generous piece with delicious light sauce and grilled with a little crisp. Salmon is such a common dish I eat, so it rarely impresses me, but this one was worth commenting on! My boyfriend had the porterhouse steak special over rissotto, which was also very generous in size. The Demi glaze was so tastey without taking over the flavor of the steak. (I know because I tasted it haha) We skipped dessert this time, but I'm sure we will be back and try it! read more

Very Disappointed. This used to be one of the spots on Staten Island for my family and I. We ordered takeout, and got absolutely ripped off. 95 dollars for 2 pizzas, 2 pasta dishes, and 1 order of calimari. I could go the supermarket and buy better frozen pizza. Which is sad to say, because they used to be the absolute best in the business. And how could they mess up that pasta when they had it locked down? I found chunks of onions in my dish. So when l was about 10 years old I would always go there for lunch and order the same thing all the time. Penn vodka. So today I took a good friend of mine there because I haven't been there in about 10 years, and let me tell you that was some good Italian food. I ordered the eggplant rollatini and she had penn vodka. The eggplant rollatini was very neat/pretty on my plate. We later had desert. Tiramisou was good and the chocolate mousse cake. My husband & I wanted to try a different restaurant so we went to Cafe Luna on Hylan Blvd. We found it overpriced. The filet of sole was $29.00 and it only came with vegetables. You can get the same dish at Cafe Bela Vita for $19.00 and it comes with vegetables and potatoes. We asked if we could get a potato croquette with the meal the waiter didn't know what to say, so we told him will pay for it. The service was nothing special. Has even a family favorite for over 16 years...Calamari, baked clams, pizzas and more. All use to be delicious! Chicken Francais is my fav and that still tasted the same, Chicken Parm is great too. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! I'm preparing my wedding and I need a place to go with my family after the rehearsals and all the events related with the wedding, I was thinking about cafe luna and for this reason yesterday night I went with two of my friends, we were eating pizza and drinking sangria, before we finished with the sangria one of the waiters ask if we want more and we ask hi for a few minutes (at least until we were close to finish), however when we were planing to order desert and something else to drink they gave us the check and came back fast because he was needing that we pay fast, the most crazy thing is the restaurant was still open with more people in other tables, so now we know this place has the most horrible service ever and obviously is not anymore in my list of places to go.
