Mimosa Cafe is like a jewel from Paris, dropped into the heart of the country, and inserted into LA! The ambiance is special. A friendly and interesting group of locals interspersed with an ever changing group of people who are in Topanga for the first time, or commuters who can't quite make it over the hill without their caffeine and croissant, The drinks are delicious and the service is friendly. The locally baked treats are to die for. There is a poppy seed roll that will make anyone from Poland believe they are home...muffins for all, even sugar free! The bagels are very popular.. I recommend getting it 'with everything", Claire, the owner is inspiring. She is always friendly and sweet, and makes you feel completely welcome! Eclectic chill Topanga vibe all the way. Stopped here for lunch after my hike... I appreciate all the gluten-free and vegan options, as well as the ones for omnivores. The place itself is very comfy (think twinkly lights, cushions, and colorful art), and the staff is very friendly. Such a great little cafe! It is comfortable and a great place to wake up and start your day! The barista that was working was so sweet and funny, she insured a good time a some laughs. Great place we happened upon on the way to the beach. Absolutely loved it! My daughter had the everything bagel for the first time ever and she loved it! Several of the employees, including the owner, told me the coffee was organic... so I kept getting my coffee there in the morning. I always sensed that it wasn't, and then this weekend, the coffee made me very sick. I'm allergic to chemicals and pesticides in my food, which is why I only drink organic coffee (conventional coffee is known for having a very high pesticide residue). I demanded to see the coffee bag and found out that their coffee is not actually organic and they have been lying the whole time. Terrible business practice. Are the brownies really organic & gluten-free too or is that another lie you tell your customers? read more

I wanted to like this place -- hippy dippy sort of hole in the wall coffee shop. The service was friendly (good start) but I was shocked to pay $8 for a bowl of reheated soup that was a D+ in terms of taste. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Topanga does not have a lot to offer for coffee or lunch but this seems to be one of the nicer places ... just outside the main area. French owned, so the quiches are great ... service was a little iffy. Owner was not very client oriented and way to busy taking care of het own (accounting) business and her regulars. Nevertheless nice enough to recommend this for a simple lunch. Sandwiches come from the fridge and the quiches get reheated but the taste is great. read more

The atmosphere was warm and homey but it was populated by dudes talking about film projects. My Arnold Palmer tasted like the lemonade had seen better days. Gluten-free bread was dry as paper and arrived sans anything to lube it up, and the vegan chili was terrible. Also they make their smoothies from powder. I think you can do better, Mimosa. read more

Mimosa, I dare not mention the name, as it has been "our" Topangaians meeting place for long before I arrived. I live up the hill and really don't want many new people to adopt this little pEAce of heaven for keeps. It's ours and we protect the culture, you are in Topanga. With this said, it's the greatest place in the world (and I have traveled the world) to sit for hours and bang out life, sip on honey coffee and bite into a fresh, flaky chocolate crossant and your hooked. If you judge or have assumptions, just don't event stop, go on down our mountain to Malibu, Palisades, Santa Monica or Venice...they are all great. . . but Mimosa and Silly Topanga, the best in the world. read more

An eclectic mix of locals. My husband and I moved into town a little while ago and coming here is a treat every time. They have a mean coconut chai (add almond milk!), sell my favorite chocolate of all time, and is a sweet place to perch up and read, catch up on work, chat, etc. Watch out for the one bad seat in the house though...you'll have to stoop over to work on your computer or read! read more

Guys, it's cute, and that's pretty much all it has going for it, also the really nice lady at the counter! She was the sweetest! I ordered a bacon-cheese-egg burrito only to start contemplating about how much bacon must be present in a breakfast burrito for one to get to call this a bacon breakfast burrito and be able to get away with it, because in my burrito, the bacon was paper thin, and I'm not talking card stock paper... I'm talking about the see-through tissue paper you put in a gift bag. Bacon should not be see-through. I feel lied to and taken advantage of. This place is capitalizing on the fact that I'm forlorn in this canyon. Maybe these people are used to being vegan so they have a skewed perception of the needs of a bacon-breakfast-burrito-eating heathen. I must say though, for a clear conscience, that the eggs were cooked well. The cheese was saddening as it tasted like nothing and simply only added cholesterol to my body. That is all. read more

Cafe Mimosa is charmingly beautiful and feels welcoming. They have almond milk always in stock, which is nice cuz only other place for Almond Milk in your coffee is Whole Foods or coffee houses nowhere near there. They also remembered my order after 2 months of not stopping bye - that was pretty sweet. I like the service. I like the coffee and the fresh pastries, and I like the vibe although you can totally tell who is the real hippie and who is the "hipster hippie" - the ones that are all out eco concious with the $$$ income to support the lifestyle. all in all, pretty awesome in my book. read more

the veggie chili here is SO good that the boyfriend and I would specifically plan hiking trips to Topanga State Park JUST so we could stop here after and grub. Charlotte and Sebastian recently catered our anniversary dinner at a casa near Moca. To start they were very responsive to our requests, offered a number of ideal choices and professionally prepared a 4 course menu with wine pairings that could not have been more perfect. Not only did they set up with fine glassware and dishes at the casa in advance of serving some of the most delicious food we've experienced, they did it while educating our group of 10 about all aspects of what they served with each course. Tiny French healthy cafe on Topanga that is a delightful pit stop on the way to the beach. The organic baked goods are tasty treats. They have Vegan and gluten free options, of course! The Salmon Salad is huge and only like 8 bucks! I love the Spinach Quiche! You can have the most marvelous lunch for under $10! Diverse Hipsters are camped out in there with laptops or literature. It's a local hangout that is comfortable and charming. Also has a little patio. Sometimes i just stop by and pick up a muffin and chai latte to nibble by the shore. It's always a pleasant experience. The only bummer is they close at 2 pm. I've often been distracted shopping at Topanga Homegrown or Hidden Treasures right up the street and missed getting in there! read more

Years ago my gf brought me some coffee and breakfast sandwich from this place. Breakfast sandwich didn't taste so great, love the mushrooms but the mushrooms tasted like the cheap kind out of the can. Ended up getting diarrhea and stayed away for years. While moving between places and needing internet early in the morning ended up back here again. The coffee and pastries were great as was free wifi to get my work done. The lady working here was super friendly. Nice interesting diverse crowd too. Before might have given this place a 1 or a 2 but after a few repeated trips leaning closer to 4. read more

A small oasis in the canyon with an early 70s counter culture flavor and some of that culture's retired denizens usually populating the rustic furniture. There's a sign in the front patio that says "No Smoking---Anything." The lady usually behind the counter appears to be French and very nice, and the coffee is "très savoureux" --just what's needed midway through a creeping morning canyon commute. I'm thinking it must be what French roast is supposed to taste like. read more

I LOVE this place! It's hippy funky, community minded, friendly, very intimate and very cozy. You can really make yourself feel at home there. One woman was happily refilling their creamer. I wiped our table before we sat down, just like begin at home. The place is filled with friendly locals seated at closely arranged tables inside and out. Anyone and everyone will talk to you. It's very eclectic, which I love, and also has a lot of little novelties displayed for sale. You can also leave your business cards and fliers, if you can find room. I had iced decaf and a bagel with cream cheese. You can't go wrong with that. Although, they do serve other pastries, teas and smoothies as well as quiches and that sort of thing. There was a colorful looking character there with a beautiful white cockatiel on his shoulder. People were there on their computers or just hanging out and meeting new people, lots of socializing going on. Locals come to find their friends. All and all, I felt quite at home and comfortable and do believe that this is the hub of Topanga. I would definitely go back! I LOVE this place! read more

Turns out they don't serve mimosas here. Which isn't a big deal, except the gentleman behind the counter asked in a very annoyed voice if I had read the menu. When I joked that this was false advertising, he went snotty hipster and explained to me that a mimosa was flower in France. Ugh. read more

We just discovered this gem hidden away behind a garden patio across from the general store in Topanga. After a hot hike, we needed a cool drink - coconut water and gluten-free brownie and toasted corn blueberry muffin with jam. They have several gluten free baked goods, bagels. They have many coffee drinks, smoothies. I'd definitely come back to work there inside or on their front or back patio...very peaceful. read more

The slightly "dingy" character makes for a very relaxing community cafe right in the middle of Topanga. People of all generations come here, bikers to take a rest after a uphill ride; the local very unique characters of every kind show up here form mature intellectuals to kids and everyone in between; internet is free and works always; food is good and handmade, the cinnamon-chocolate croissant is the best in the greater LA area, you have to be lucky to even get one; if you're up for a chat with strangers - just sit on the patio and ignore the cigarette smoke for a few minutes, very nice to hang out and prices are great too. Depending on who is the server behind the counter the music can be annoying or too loud - but you can go up and ask for an adjustment; I come here often to refuel internally before taking off into the woods - like an outpost in between city life and nature. Here you are not being judged if you look different or behave different - since most people who come here are odd themselves. Probably my favorite place to be, hang out, work, contemplate and find vision. read more
