Home away from home. Whenever I'm in Topanga Canyon in the morning I love to stop here for coffee. There's not a lot of selection of foods, the muffins have been soggy or dry, but I love the ambiance, coffee, trees, location, and friendly cozy vibe. I wish it was open later, though. Parking's tough, so prepare to park on the street and walk a bit. The koi pond is a nice touch, and you can use your computer outside. Love meeting with all the locals here. read more

I stopped at this cute little cafe on the way back from hiking. It's more of a artisan coffee shop, with some smoothies and snacks on the side. I had a vegan muffin which was delicious and a smoothie that wasn't so great. I think the girl just didn't blend it enough or their blender sucks because there was actual chunks of ice in it, oh well. Nice little outdoor patio to sit and drink your coffee as well. Worth a stop in if you are passing by! read more

Breakfast in Topanga Canyon this morning... Simple ham and cheese pastry and house coffee. The pastry was fresh, flaky and warmed up for me. They offer a wide array of sandwiches, etc. also. While sitting here, more pastries were delivered so I cannot lie about freshness! Cafe Mimosa: The place is small, quaint, very zen and has a sunny & charming hippie vibe. Good, because today is Wednesday! For sale here are lotions, jewelry, trinkets, tea pots and the art on the wall. A steady stream of locals walked in and out the entire time I sat here. There is patio seating outside, with comfy spots for people and pets (Of course! This is Cali!) Leave your Burberry purse in the car here, along with thoughts of work or problems. Good coffee and croissants, friendly staff who gave us a little fish food so our toddler could feed the fish in their little pond.

This place will fit most of your positive stereotypes of Topanga. It is friendlily-run. It has a relaxed, crunchy feel; it has "crunchy" Topanga locals who can also be a little insular in that Topanga way but are also chill. It has a more-than-coffeeshop food menu, with lots of vegan choices. It's a very nice place to sit and work or for quiet conversation. read more

oh, what even needs to be said about the heart of real Topanga in regards to coffee shops? the ladies who run the place are absolutely wonderful people. it's cozy, and inviting, and full of interesting people on any given day. come have a rose water chai, and toss your cell phone & watch to the wind for a while like a good local would. :) food options are tasty, and if you're in need of GF treats- don't be sad when you eye all the delicious pastries under glass- many of them are GF, so all you have to do is ask. i'll leave you with this about Mimosa: there is nothing more lovely than walking through their front door on a rather gray Topanga winter morning. no other place in the canyon manages to create that same feeling of "being home". read more

Don't mind the fact -- the tiny fact -- that there aren't mimosas on the menu and just go ahead and order the Filthy Chai. But only in the afternoon. The morning orders must remain rote, but in the afternoon... morals loosen and the Filthy Chai is available. If you care to feel like an adult at the kids' table of holiday meals, sit anywhere inside at the tiny tables and chairs. If you feel like relaxing... sit outside on the front porch or back patio. And you know when you put bread into a toaster and it inexplicably becomes toast? Or, say... when you put Sriacha on anything and it becomes genius? Well, look at their fridge of shrink-wrapped sandwiches, notice how inedible they look, then when they ask, "want it toasted?" say Yes, please. Then, wait, and you're brought out an entirely different and better sandwich. It's unclear whether they just completely swap out the meal or not. This is clearly a Topanga nabe coffee shop, and that's, as the Olsen Twins says, Adorbs. But when some other yelpers down below mention the best coffee in LA... that's plain hogwash. Now, you can have all the opinions you like about the beautiful bean, but when you outright cry foul that these beans are better than, oh, I don't know... Handsome or Intelligentsia, or Cafe Tropical... then, well, it just is a different category. If you prefer this place over Coffee Bean, but of course! Please prefer this place. Now if you judge a cup of coffee by its location and patio experience, this is one of the top spots... if you happen to be in the canyon, stop at Cafe Nomosa. read more

Very let down by my experience. We were recommended by our Air BnB host to visit this spot for breakfast. The woman behind the counter was very impersonal and selective with who she spoke to beyond telling them their totals. I purchased a small latte and a breakfast burrito which was very small, all totaling to be $10. I gladly paid and tipped but waited forever for my food and felt very out of place and unwelcome the entire time. Let down,and expected way more from this place. read more

Cute, hippie-dippy, crunchy granola, laid back cafe, tucked away in the hilly side of a windy Topanga Canyon Blvd. I fully expect to see some earthy celebrity to be working on a laptop sitting under a shady tree.... It's really pretty, tiny, with charm -- the baked goods are really delectable. I had a raisin, whole grain, scone and a cup of hot cocoa. Nice place to hang out with good mix of foliage, sunshine, shade, pretty decoration, warm, home style, friendly service. Many artist-y, writer, types busily, seriously and intently fingering away on their laptops. Has a kind of hushed, but social atmosphere. I should have heeded my friend's warning to stay away from this place. I was driving through Topanga a few weeks ago and craving a smoothie...when I saw the big sign outside the cafe that says "SMOOTHIES". Unfortunatley, they served me the worst smoothie EVER! They only had mango available...ok, sure, I like mango smoothies.....it was literally cheap mango juice blended with ice, and I had to pay extra for the hemp protein. It was disgusting. I thought maybe I would enjoy it more if I sat outside, but it the place was infested with flies. This place might have been cute at one time, but now it's just dirty. And as far as I could tell, none of their bakery items or sandwiches were made there. I hate leaving bad reviews, but I can't believe they served me that smoothie, and charged me for it with a straight face. read more

THE BEST COFFEE SHOP IN LOS ANGELES COUNTY - HANDS DOWN. Wanna know why? Okay. The best coffee beans around, as good as any gourmet place like those fancy Silverlake and Venice and Beverly Hills places, but at reasonable prices. Cheaper than most. Also, the baked goods are beyond heaven - so far beyond they're in another dimension. The cinnamon rolls are even better the ones we used to get from the Amish farms outside of Miami and there's a selection of baked goods for everyone, vegans included and everything is made fresh daily by locals. The vegan oatmeal raisin muffins are like fresh oatmeal in a muffin - moist, delicious, amazing. They've also got great wraps and delicious breakfast burritos. You can enjoy your morning or afternoon in idyllic Topanga, get some fresh air, look at the mountains and enjoy yourself immensely. Even get some work done. And... PIRATE CHAI. You have to try it. I hesitated to write anything until now because I don't want Mimosa to be overcome with people, because I like it the way it is, but they deserve all the stars. So there you have it. Just don't tell tooooo many people, but if you're a coffee shop connoisseur, you'll have to try it at least once - or anytime you have to drive through Topanga - which I also wish people weren't allowed to do unless you live here... but until UTOPIA arrives, have yourself a great time at Mimosa ;-). read more

This place is a gem :-) Went for a Sunday drive up Topanga Canyon to go hike at Topanga State Park. Looked up cafes in the area, and was delighted to find this place had lots of GLUTEN FREE options :-) So we roll up. Parking can be hard because.. it's Topanga Canyon. But once you find your spot, this place is a sweet little piece of... peace :) They have nice outdoor seating in the back around a little koi pond. I found it to be very relaxing :) Only one girl working behind the corner and it got a little busy but she handled it very well and kept the line moving without making me feel rushed. She pointed out all of the gluten-free pastries (there were at least 6 different types!) and then I stood there transfixed and mesmerized, not used to that many options! Finally decided on a smoothie (not fresh fruit, but still DELICIOUS) and a GLUTEN-FREE APPLE FRITTER MUFFIN. So SO yummy. Was literally the perfect snack before my hike. I'm in love with this place. (O__O) Will definitely be coming back! *You can tell a lot of love has gone into creating this shop and the products they serve here. It's hard to find little places like this anymore in a world where there's a Starbucks on every corner. read more

Cafe Mimosa is our go to place to stop for coffee while on our way down to the West Side. We live in Topanga, and it's by far the quickest and best cup of coffee in the canyon. Coffee is self serve, and there are always friendly people in the shop. They have unique gifts and treats, and the owner and people who work there are super friendly. You have to remember that in Topanga, conversation is valued over rushing, so sometimes it takes a few minutes to pay for your coffee, but Cafe Mimosa is very good at finding a happy balance. I've also had their oatmeal, and it was delicious. read more

I just started going up to Topanga for my weekly dose of hiking trips. My boyfriend and I decided to look for a breakfast spot to catch before we went for our hike. Initially we passed this little place, keeping note of it. We stopped at another location that wasn't open yet and decided to turn back around to try this place out. It's a small, cozy cafe. Parking was interesting as there were really designated spots, so we just parked on the dirt along side the road. Not a lot of space inside, but there is a patio outside with a koi pond, which is where found a place to sit. From the looks of it, there weren't many food options but more so just a drink spot. However, they did have breakfast bagel sandwiches and breakfast burritos. My boyfriend and I both tried the breakfast bagel and it hit the spot! It came with cream cheese, lox, onions, tomatoes, and capers with your choice of bagel. It seemed a little on the pricey side for what we got, but still good and perfect for a pick-me-up before one of those Topanga Canyon Hikes! read more

The atmosphere in this cafe is just adorable. That said, sorry, but there's not much else to love about this place. The food was bland and not at all tasty. I had a muffin that was beautiful but pretty much tasted like cardboard. My friend had a tuna sandwhich that was so bland, she only finished half of it. My tea tasted like dishwater... The seating is also sparse and not very comfortable. One of the girls who was our server was sweet as pie. Met another one who was not so much... So mixed reviews. Go for the atmosphere but don't expect the food to be any good. read more

This place is like Topanga Hippie Central. Add a few business people on their way to work, add some bike riders and then add random Topanga surfer/musician dudes and you get the idea. So with this crazy ecclectic crowd in Topanga, these relaxed people at the counter (also, seemingly, Topanga hippies) have to deal with just about every coffee special needs non-fat no-gluten no-animal no-whatever is the no-of the moment thing and they do with a natural, no worries approach. I am fairly relaxed, but not sure if I could handle making sure the nuts in the walnut raison muffins weren't processed in a factory that has gluten free employees, you get the idea. So, relaxed people serving extremely good and healthy coffee foods with piping hot coffee in comfy chairs and comfortable surroundings. Really, coffee houses don't get much more nice to visit and get away from the rat race. read more

Lovely Topanga-esque service in a pretty spot. I had a delicious bagel with lox, with tomato, onion, and capers with the perfect amount of cream cheese. Yum! Very reasonable prices and friendly people. My friend got a slice of quiche, a huge salad that we split 3-ways, and a coffee for less than $10, you don't find that often in LA. Their add-ons are surprisingly varied as well. You want balsamic vinegar and olive oil for your salad? Check! Foamy steamed milk for your coffee? Sure! They also sell delicious vegan gluten-free baked goods, and really pretty hand-made jewelry and accessories too. I wanted to buy all the leather wrap bracelets, they were so soft and cute. It's a great place to stop before/after a hike, or for us, a couple hours of horseback riding! read more

Adorable. Such a fun stop if you are driving through Topanga. We stop here for coffee before or after we go on a hike - and I always want to just stay and look around and sit for awhile. We stopped here for a quick bite during our road trip. The place is small and quaint but there isn't much space to sit and eat. We got an egg salad sandwich which was bland and dry - tasted like cardboard. We also got a black bean and rice burrito which looked good but the rice was not properly cooked and the beans tasted slightly off.
