I was looking for something light but filling for a quick lunch and found cafe reveille was near by. It was a Sunday afternoon, so it was a bit busy and very crowded. Luckily, I was taking my lunch to-go, but if you want to try dining in, they have indoor and outdoor seating. They have a very straight forward menu, which is nice for decision fatigue, but nothing really caught my eye so I just went with crunchy bowl and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't think I would like it, but really enjoyed all of the flavors. My sister got an açaí bowl which was good too. Service was slow, which is understandable because it was busy. A bit on the pricier side, but still good portions for me. Overall, enjoyed my experience and if I'm ever in the area won't hesitate to stop by. read more

Came here for a chill lunch with some friends! It's a cute corner spot with lots of foot traffic for people watching if you're sitting outside. I tried the tahini squash salad because it felt like a nice autumn/harvest-vibe bowl. It was light but nourishing, colorful, and decently filling. Overall I enjoyed the outdoor experience, but the inside felt a bit too chaotic and the cashier wasn't super friendly (although it was quite busy so I can understand why). read more

Reveille lost a loyal customer today. I've been coming here for years driving from another neighborhood and dealing with difficult parking just because the food used to make it worth the trip. Unfortunately, the overall experience has declined to the point where I no longer plan to return unless there are significant improvements. One of the biggest issues is seating. The cafe has become a workspace rather than a place to eat. It's common to see tables occupied for hours by people working on laptops with little or no food while paying customers who are ordering full meals are left waiting for a place to sit. I wish management would consider time limits so diners can actually find seating. Customer service has also become inconsistent. While some employees are friendly and helpful, tables stay dirty until customers specifically ask for them to be cleaned. I often see employees walk past dirty tables which only makes the seating problem worse. Food quality has become inconsistent as well. A dish that is delicious one day may look and taste completely different the next. It just became difficult to know what to expect. I've put up with these issues for a long time because I genuinely liked this place. That's what makes this disappointing. It feels like the focus has shifted away from the customers who come here to eat and support the business. I'm sharing this as someone who has spent years working in customer service. Loyal customers understand that every business has occasional bad days. The problem is when the same issues continue for so long that they become the new norm. read more

Monday, 2pm I so love my avocado toast, ordered to go cause NetFlix is calling me home. Reveille is pretty popular so I usually avoid eating there, always a line & I've heard the service is slow. As there was a rain storm going on the place was only half full, no line, fast service. Yep, I'm a bit high maintenance when it comes to my toast. Made a point of asking for the bread to be toasted. I believe every cafe in town doesn't own a functioning toaster. Turns out same problem here, I don't get it. The Avocado Toast comes with a fried egg, I added a side of bacon. The large slice of artisanal bread was delicious. Egg cooked as ordered, (over medium instead of their sunny side up). The generous slices of avocado were perfectly ripe. Hear me out, the bread was 100% not toasted, not even a little. So call it an open face sandwich, not Toast. Rant over, the sandwich was delicious. I thought the rather fatty bacon was overcooked, others might say crispy perfection. Anyway, Cafe Reveille is destination worthy. Definitely will return. read more

One of Cafe Réveille's many great outposts in San Francisco! All of the city's Cafe Réveilles consistently impresses me with their great coffee, tasty food (including lots of vegetarian and gluten-free options), and top tier vibes, and this location is no exception. One of my friends is gluten-free, so this is one of our go-to locations for weekend coffee, but it's also a great place for a casual lunch or mid-workday coffee / remote work. The coffee is great -- not overly acidic, not overly nutty, but still quite flavorful and rich -- and they have some fantastic latte art. The staff is super friendly, and the space is lovely. It does get pretty crowded so it can be hard to find a spot to sit inside, but they do have a pretty large outdoor section too. The wifi doesn't quite reach the edges of the outdoor area, but you should be fine at one of the tables next to the cafe. read more

I came here on a weekend afternoon, and this small place was crowded both inside and outside by friends catching up with each other and people doing work. Although the place is small, the white walls and tables make the cafe more spacious. My friend and I got their Matcha Latte with oat milk to-go. We waited at the tables for our drink and got our drinks within 10 minutes. While I've sat down with food and drink at the cafe in the past, this was the first time I took a drink to-go. The presentation was nice, with the decorative design done with their creamer. Even though they mentioned using sweetner, the matcha latte did not have a strong matcha taste as I would have liked it to be. For an SF macha latte, I feel like the price point was average. I have tried other drinks like their mocha in the past, which I have enjoyed better. Otherwise, the cafe is in a prime location and a wonderful neighborhood to visit! read more

This place is okay but I'm not quite sure I get the hype. It's very typical San Francisco chill coffee shop vibes with breakfast sandwiches and coffee. You order at the counter, seat yourself and clean up so nothing too out of the ordinary. The coffee and food is good but I generally think it's over priced for what you get since there's nothing overly outstanding about it. Been coming to Reveille for several years now. The coffee is good, but the baked goods leave a lot to be desired. My biggest issue is with the consistent rudeness of the staff. I don't expect overt friendliness, but I am tired of saying good morning and receiving a blank stare or dry "thanks". Much better options nearby, like Cafe du Soleil and Duboce Street Cafe. It's my go-to neighborhood spot for a coffee, leisurely reading with my dog, and a touch of work outside. :) The food is always on point: well made, fresh flavors, and delivered timely. I find the baked goods irresistible; in particular, the brownie is rich and the chocolate chip cookie is buttery and soft with a great chew. The parklet is spacious and well organized with room around tables for easy maneuvering. It's on a very cute corner shaded with gorgeous, old trees. I still like their food and coffee so we stayed for a kale salad & breakfast bowl. Their kale salad is super refreshing with lemon, sumac, quinoa, avo, cucumber & almonds. I really want to give them a 4 or 5 stars but I think that besides the cute vibe, the restaurant doesn't have much else to offer. I absolutely love posting up here, doing some work and enjoying the ambiance. However, the food and coffee isn't anything special. The servers also seem like they don't want to be there most of the time. The food can also take a long time to get out. My friend absolutely loves the breakfast burrito and the acai bowl isn't half bad. I'd suggest coming here if you're looking for something casual and are okay with a bit of a wait for your food. I recommend if you're picking up, order online and you can go straight in to pick up instead of waiting in line to order. Cafe Reveille in Lower Haight looks so enticing when you ride by on your bike. Always lots of people enjoying a beverage and light meal outside in their parklet, on the beautiful tree lined Waller. I was finally enticed inside, on the hunt for some matcha and chai lattes. A little to my surprise, there is quite a bit of room inside as well, and a mostly crowd there too. But the employees at the counter served me and made my drinks quickly, nonetheless. Chai is always a little bit different and unique depending on where you go. I found Cafe Reveille's to be a nice balance of spice; a touch of ginger taste but not so much that it's harsh. My partner took the matcha and said it delivered on her expectations as well. I didn't notice a particularly vegan friendly menu for food, but also noticed that their glass case was empty (I assume where they keep pastries.) Next time I'm there, crossing my fingers that there might be a nice warm vegan baked good waiting. read more

Nice place in the lower Haight if you're looking for a light lunch and/or coffee. Only a block away from Idle Hand Tattoo and there are some nice outdoor seats under the trees. One of my go to neighborhood cafes to do some work when I can't concentrate at home. The ambiance is nice and quaint with outdoor seating, but it does tend to get crowded. Their coffees are good but my go to is definitely their matcha latte since it is not overly sweetened and has a stronger matcha flavor than other places, which is how I like it. They also have a selection of food. My favorite is their breakfast sandwich but they do not serve it all day. They also have pretty good and crispy fries to complement their sandwiches. read more

It's great for studying and honing in on your laptop. The staff was kind and was excellent with recommendations. I felt whimsical and went with what they thought tasted good and also ordered an oat milk chai, I was pleased worth everything, the chicken sandwich was flavorful and the açaí and Avocado toast where light but filling. HAHAHA! I asked for a ristretto. Anybody who read even a barista book, knows that it's an espresso that's stopped earlier for the sour taste before the coffee turns bitter. All 3 employees gathered around and never heard about it, not knowing how to do it. When I told them that they just have to pull my cup away earlier, they said they're not trained to do this. A cafe with the perfect casual weekend brunch vibes! This place has been on my list, both as a local chain and due to the line out the door pretty much every weekend morning when I pass by. I arrived around noon and waited 5-10 minutes; you order at the counter and get a number. Though it looked like every seat was taken, after we ordered, we found a few tables open up both inside and out (the ones along the windows outside have a heater!). I ordered the Levantine sandwich with falafel and my friend ordered the Shakshuka - we both got dirty chais. Both dishes were delicious! The shakshuka was well spiced, hearty, and creamy. The sandwich was assembled well - fried falafel goodness with pickled cabbage/pepperoni to cut through it! The green sauce added spice and freshness. I wish there was a little more sauce and greens, but overall very tasty still. The dirty chai was good but not great -- a little bitter from the coffee. Would have loved a deeper chai flavor! The service was very fast (our food was ready in less than 10 minutes) and friendly. And the constant influx of adorable dogs on their way to Duboce park made it an even better brunch experience!
