It makes me really sad that you stop serving smoothies and food after 3 PM while still displaying the full menu. It's frustrating to come in expecting items like burgers, fries, bowls, or smoothies only to find that only coffee is available. As someone who works in the service industry, this is especially disappointing. I understand operational challenges, but keeping menu items visible when they aren't available creates confusion and a poor guest experience. The frequent changes to closing hours have also been frustrating--at one point food service was available until 5:30 PM, then after 7 PM, and now much earlier. The inconsistency makes it difficult to know what to expect. I enjoy coming here and hope you'll consider either extending food service hours or more clearly communicating what is available throughout the day. read more

Cafe Reveille has officially earned a spot on my list of go-to SF cafés. My friend and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon looking for a place to grab a drink and get some work done and it delivered on all fronts. I got the iced chai and it was super yummy with great chai flavor with just the right amount of sweetness, not overdone at all. My friend went with a hot latte which he said was really good, and he also grabbed a breakfast sandwich that was solid and filling. Basically everything we ordered was a win. The vibe inside is great -- the kind of place where you actually want to sit and stay a while. We lucked out and snagged seats before the Sunday rush hit, which I'd say is definitely the move since seating can be a little limited. Keep that in mind if you're planning a longer work session and want to be comfortable. Staff was friendly, bathrooms were clean, and the overall atmosphere just felt good. This is the place one needs to try to change one's daily or weekly pattern. I received a friendly welcome and then studied the menu. There was the falafel bowl I always wanted to try, so did. There were a few people eating and some working on their laptops in the well-lit space. I chose to take home the food due to time. When I returned home, the food was still warm. The bowl includes a variety of good flavors and an interesting combination of vegetables, in addition to a perfectly poached egg, 4 large falafel balls and a great tahini yogurt sauce. I think the breakfast bowl has redeemed this place for me. I always thought it was overhyped for no reason. I've previously tried the breakfast burrito and did not like it. I've also had another one of their lunch bowls, which I was underwhelmed by however, their breakfast bowl was delicious. I love the dressing, the avocado and all the healthy veggies. The service was magnificent, the ambiance was airy and light, and there were plenty of others productively working (but also many just enjoying time with friends or family) in my row of seating. But wow, the intermingling of so many flavors and textures was so filling, hearty, and delicious; in addition to the fried plantain there were black beans, half an avocado, red cabbage, tomato, scallions, quinoa, lentils, and brown rice atop a bed of a smokey sauce and an avocado cilantro sauce.
