Great, local cafe to get your coffee fix or a nice sandwich. Their food is very good, everything is fresh and made to order. The coffee itself is lovely and I really like their selection of non-coffee drinks. Considering how expensive little cafes can be these days, especially in this neighborhood, it's refreshing to see a cafe that has good food and drinks at reasonable prices. I go here every weekend for a bagel and coffee. The employees here are extremely nice and have my order memorized. As soon as I walk into the shop they give me a friendly head-nod and begin making my regular order. Always super friendly and food + coffee is great! read more

I got a sandwich to go here when I was apartment shopping with a friend. I thought that I would try something new, so I got a brie and apricot jam sandwich on walnut bread. It tasted so good and the portion size was exactly right for an afternoon pick me up. The service was really fast and everyone seemed really nice. I would definitely go back to grab a coffee with an old friend or just to get some work done. They have a lot of seating and cute and cozy booths to sit in! read more

Love love love this place. The service is *top* notch - zero 'tude, always happy and inviting. I've only had the tea (with foamy soy) and the foam is always done to perfection. The cafe itself is spacious, with ample room to put your stuff down and chill. It never seems to get too crowded there, which is what I like about it! Also, there are full-wall windows on both sides, and since it sits on a corner, there is a ton of natural light coming in - as well as lots of space to people watch. Love this joint. read more

This place is my jam. The sandwiches are amazing and they have delicious coffee also. We often pop by when we are trying to do a quick pick up for lunch. The sandwiches are huge and delicious, but I'd also recommend getting one of their bagel sandwiches. It's not as big so I can eat the whole thing. I love the 29er! read more

Moved to the neighborhood a few months ago and one morning I was in a desperate search for some caffeine, looked at yelp and found Cafe Seventy8 and I'm glad I did! It is a nice, comfortable cafe with friendly employees. I enjoy their coffee and other drinks and they have good food. It has now become my standard routine to start my Saturdays and Sundays by going to Cafe Seventy8 for coffee and a bagel. read more

I went here with a friend of mine who lives in the neighborhood. We didn't get coffee, but had lunch there instead. I had the hot panini sandwich with brie which was really pretty good, but a little heavy on the brie. Definitely recommend this place for a good bite to eat though! The people that work here are so nice and patient when I am trying to make up my mind on what I want to order. The coffee is strong and good. The sandwiches never disappoint. I love all of the sandwiches but my favorite is the heavenly veggie...it's amazing and I am not a vegetarian. There is always somewhere to sit inside or outside and I feel like I can stay and hang out for a while if I want to. Definitely one of my favorite lunch spots. read more

Spent almost the entire day here working while my car was with the mechanic nearby,,,it was great! Nice selection of tasty food and drink, free wifi, electric outlets a-plenty (tho you have to kinda crawl under the benches to reach them), and low-playing and non-irritating music in the background. Flavorfully designed, creatively assembled, and timely prepared there is no way that you can go wrong with a breakfast panini or a Blue Turkey or a Heavenly Veggie at this spot! Delicious coffee sourced from a San Francisco roaster! With the usual milk suspects - regular, soy, almond. If you have a sweet tooth go for the lemon bar (absolutely mouth watering) and/or the coconut vegan cookies! Amazeballs - even if you're not vegan! This is a great little coffee shop. Not pretentious, not grungy, but a nice little spot in the middle I call comfortable. They have good coffee and good snacks, and a very relaxed clientele. I went in this morning as I often do on Saturdays, but having stumbled out of the house with only a $5 was $0.25 short for the order I wanted to place. No problem, they were happy to overlook that quarter. Next time, will certainly make up for it with a nicer-than-usual tip. All in all, fantastic neighborhood coffee joint. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed in Bernal Heights for a few days recently and on our final walk to Mission before heading to the airport, we stopped at 78 for coffee and some breakfast sandwiches. I wish we'd stopped here the first day because we would have returned again and again. He had a chicken sandwich, I had the strawberries and Nutella sandwich (on walnut bread). It was out of this world yummy and made me feel like a little kid - Nutella!!. The coffee, both regular and decaf was delicious. The vibe was really casual and very comfortable. I had an iced latte with the Heavenly Veggie and my boyfriend had a blended iced mocha with a Blue Turkey panini. The iced latte was one of the best I've had since being in San Francisco. They don't burn the coffee!! The sandwiches are very fresh and tasty. The people behind the counter are very friendly and work hard to get the orders out quickly. I'm so happy this place is my local cafe! Right around the corner from my house. Great prices, AWESOME staff (so kind, genuine, and funny), really amazing prices. Their products are high quality and compared to the rest of the city this place seems like a steal. I love that the cafe has a really diverse customer base and that there aren't 20 people with Macbooks taking up every table for hours. I often come here to eat lunch and to read and relax. I love the breakfast panini - eggs, spinach, roasted red pepper mayo, tomatoes and cheese on ciabatta then toasted. For only $4.50? Love it. This is my official hangover breakfast. My favorite sandwich is the blue turkey. Turkey, blue cheese, walnuts, and spinach. I've never seen walnuts on a sandwich before and it's super tasty. Their baked goods are pretty good as well, and someday I gotta try an empanada. The parklet outside is a nice place to sit and watch people go by, walking their dogs. I've grown up around the corner and have been frequenting this place on and off since it opened. I've always had mixed reviews on staff and food. The only thing that I order now is the breakfast panini. About half a year ago I ordered and found a hair baked into the egg. When I called and said something and asked for my money back I was treated very rude and haven't gone back. I started going again because its a bfast sandwich here for $7 or one at the other corner cafe for $10.....(honestly it's easier to buy the supplies at Safeway for $5 and make it at the office but sometime there's no time). Now, the staff is still a mix, some girl behind the counter gave me as a customer an indifferent bothered attitude while I ordered and when I returned the favor she was visibly annoyed and muttered remarks. The cafe will always confuse me. Decent food, flavor fairly priced but staff and over all treatment of some customers to others will always be very visible to me. I've debated reviewing each time. Usually me and my brother swap stories, roll our eyes and move on. Today just irritated me more then other days. read more

I am not an avid Yelper, but I have come here to spread the good word of Cafe Seventy8. I arrived in the neighborhood in August of 2013, moving in with my boyfriend from the distant tundra we know and love as New England. Bleary-eyed and weary from the long road behind me, I spotted this haven of caffeine on my block. I stumbled in, and likely muttered something incoherent about soy milk. Months later, and I go virtually nowhere else for the iced coffee I require to function on a semi-human level. Tasty coffee, affordable breakfast, and fantastic service. The art on the walls changes frequently, giving my tired mind something to do before Annette (owner and barista extraordinaire, the lady makes a mean dirty chai!) or her employees greet me with a smile, my iced coffee waiting for me on the counter, soy milk standing at the ready beside it. Suck it, Starbucks. Stop in here for your morning caffeine concoction and leave happy! read more

Conveniently located half a block from Mission street, I've been to this cafe a few times on my way to work in the neighborhood. The cafe has staff who are friendly and upbeat, serves a variety of caffeinated drinks for your morning fix, and has delicious breakfast sandwiches! My only issue is sometimes getting stuck in the long line of other people who love this place. read more

it took me a while to start patronizing this place, but now that I do I wouldn't go anywhere else. The two best things about this place is the coffee (which is grrreat) and the staff are so friendly and accommodating. Cafe Seventy8 has totally yummy vegan cookies and vegan "egg salad" sandwiches. They've got a wonderful neighborhood feeling, the kind of place where neighbors come in with their dogs and chat about what's happening with the Tiffany Street "traffic calming" or Friends of the Urban Forest sidewalk planting or the St. Luke's hospital renovations. Cafe Seventy8 even provides space (after hours) for the Neighborhood Watch meetings, which is very cool. The folks behind the counter are friendly and helpful, and the ambiance is great for grabbing a quick bite or staying for awhile with a good book or newspaper, or doing some work on your laptop. read more
