This cafe is across the street from Safeway/shopping center. Parking was a little tough since I went around lunch time (12ish). Nice outdoor seating area and they have tables and couches inside. I ordered the chicken breast sandwich with bacon/pepperjack ($7.25). It came with cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, lettuce and you also get a small bag of chips of your choice. The cashier asked if I'd like it toasted and she brought it out to my table a few minutes later. So, the sandwich tasted okay; nothing to really rave about. I also got a thai tea for about $3. There is metered parking out front or parking in the Safeway lot. Service was nice, and fast. Just ordered a cheese and egg croissant. It was missing a good portion of the cheese on one half but it's not really a big deal. This place is in need of a serious face lift. I understand the Bay Area rents are insane for everybody, but literally the chairs they have on the patio are exactly the same as the chairs you had in your second grade classroom. I'm not joking. I arrived and the owner claimed online ordering through grub hub wasn't working but yet she looked on her phone & saw it. Then she said she only makes the items I ordered a specific way so it completely invalidated what I ordered (please update the menu so that people don't come expecting to pick up what they actually ordered ) but still had to pay the same price and I observed as she microwaved the eggs . So not only did I have to wait for my order there but it wasn't even freshly & timely made. It was a very unprofessional experience as she failed to even acknowledge fault or apologize. I lucked upon this little gem after needing a place to eat while waiting for my prescription to be filled. It is a nice little house Café with an eclectic menu for whatever you may be craving. Options are limitless! But I came during breakfast hours so I chose something light and simple; a turkey egg and cheese croissant sandwich and a berry citrus hot tea. How could something so simple be so delicious. The sandwich was perfect! The turkey was not just some lunchmeat slapped on a flat grill, it was freshly carved meat, so juicy and good. I tried Yelp takeout ordering and it was smooth! I really enjoy this spot. I've been in person a few times and had low expectations for their banh mi. I think they use maggi which gives a banh mi a nice flavor. Their watermelon juice was perfectly refreshing. It comes in what I'd consider a medium (mcdonalds size) cup. One thing to note was my sandwich was incorrect. I typically get the ham banh mi but I received beef. It wasn't a big deal because it wasn't bad. It has a semi-sweetness to it. I will still stick to the ham sandwich here. I had low expectations for it but was pleasantly surprised. I like the Vietnamese-American fusion vibe here and quick service. If you order anything off that, confirm with the cashier all ingredients are included, because they will NOT tell you ahead of time that they don't have an ingredient (but you'll still pay full price). I ordered a salad based on what was written there, and they gave me a salad without the ingredient I was most looking forward to. When I asked them, the cashier said "we don't carry that." I told her it was written on the board. But no apologies or anything ensued. Where is the customer service? Why the dishonesty and lack of accountability? Another star taken off due to the flies always circling inside. Can't they afford to buy those anti-insect candles that other businesses have? Parking is ok. They have a small attached lot. Cafe Sorriso is your not-so-average average cafe. Dropped by and picked up the breakfast combo which came with a cup of joe and a ham, cheese, and egg croissant sandwich. Coffee was decent, wasn't spectacular, but wasn't terrible, just average. The croissant sandwich was pretty good after toasting it up. Sadly, the filling was a bit too salty and the croissant wasn't flaky enough. What's not so average about Cafe Sorriso? They serve coffee, bagels, pastries, and other breakfast items like a cafe should, but they also serve Vietnamese food. Wait what? Yep! You can find boba, banh mi sandwiches, vermicelli noodles at this cafe too! Checked out the grilled Pork Bahn mi combo with chips and a drink hype. Did not disappoint. I came here on a Saturday. There were plenty of seats, tables and two couches. Also the outside seating looks like a great place to sit and enjoy coffee. The place is located next to a four way stop and in front of safeway so plenty of traffic but not distracting and loud. The toilets were the most impressive. Looked like it was well kept and maintained. You cant have great food and have dirty restrooms. Great place to sit and study as well. I can be here for a time and not have to put on headphones because of the noise. But then again it was was on a Saturday which may or may no be on a busy day. First time coming here. I got the everything bagel breakfast sandwich and it was pretty bland and had seeds on it that tasted like black licorice. I got a regular drip coffee and it's exactly what you would get at a gas station. After I ordered, the owner tossed the premade sandwich in the microwave, didn't say two words to me, and when it was done just yelled for me to come get it and sat my coffee cup on the counter (coffee is self-serve containers like the gas station). Come here for: - clarifying and delicious, not too-salty, and flavorful chicken noodle soup, which is more like a chicken pho in a way - traditional pork banh mi and grilled pork banh mi - Blended iced drinks and smoothies! I recommend the Mango Lassi icy blended drink, and the watermelon one. For smoothies, the strawberry-banana is delicious too! I've been a fairly regular customer at this Cafe but today, I had to post this review. Cafe Soriso has compromised their food quality for higher prices! The breads are smaller, dry and taste "day old". I ordered my favorite sandwich ealier this week and the difference is noticeable. Today, the spring rolls, while told they are shrimp/vegetable had barely any shrimp and tons of lettuce with those rice noodles! Not one shredded carrot! I will not be back because the rip off is just too obvious. I feel betrayed as a customer. Also, the tables are not cleaned between customer use. A standard they should employ during Covid. This cafe is one of our favorite cafes in San Leandro. It serves both American and Vietnamese food (sandwiches, salads, vermicelli noodle plates, egg rolls, soups), and is good for breakfast and lunch. You can eat inside or outside on their deck, and there is free wifi. It won't break the bank, so you can conceivably eat here a few times a week. They also have enough items on the menu, so your choices are not limited. For breakfast, I've had both their bagel and croissant sandwiches. They're pretty good. Very filling. We mostly eat their lunch stuff here. Some of their lunch stuff that we like: Egg Salad Sandwich with Chips and Coffee or Soda ($6 something) Half Sandwich + Soup with drink ($6 something) Chicken Wonton Soup--has a nice, clear broth. I was out and about with my mom on Labor Day. We were surprised that such a cute and homey place was open on a holiday. But I was craving banh mi. I feel like I'm always craving banh mi... But we went here and were kind super impressed by the great prices. I got the banh mi special. I upgraded my drink. My mom got the chicken wonton soup I also went back and ordered imperial rolls. I'm not that ashamed to say I ate like... everything. Everything was amazingly fresh and delicious. I love the location. I feel like I'm dining in a cute friend's house. Everyone was really friendly. Must be one helluva multi tasker! =) But I'm giving her credit for being nice to me and apologetic since the total wait time in line took about 15 mins, tops. I ordered their chicken salad sandwich and BLT for my hubby. Nothing really special with it. Tastes like any other ordinary sandwiches. What I love about this place is that they have tons of tables and chairs available (surprisingly because from the view outside, the place looks tiny). I also love the setting outside. As a cafe, there are a lot of seats and the music is at a good level. Good place to sit with a beverage and a book. Foodwise: I found the menu overwhelming and confusing. There was a list with coffee and bagel options, and some vague items which begged description (such as "veggie salad"). I didn't see veggie spring rolls on the board, so I asked for a menu. The cashier waved to the wall where there were a few pictures without prices and said "this is it." I asked what was in the veggie salad and was told "avocado. Cheese. Croutons." Not enticing. On another wall plastered with pictures of boaba tea, I found shrimp rolls. I asked if they could be made vegan. They could. So, that was a plus but the experience and number of questions I had to ask to get there was a lot. Staff seemed disconnected with each other, and the cashier gave the impression that she couldn't be bothered with me. Meh. I wish they had more veg/vegan options. Nice cafe in downtown San Leandro, right next to the Safeway shopping center. Parking can be difficult, especially when Safeway is busy, but otherwise a good location, a short walk from BART. The porch is a great place to have a drink, or you can go inside and sit at a table or on the couch. The cafe provides free wifi for customers (make sure to ask for the code, as they change it periodically). The only problem is that there is no AC inside. So when it's blazing hot in the East Bay, only your drink will cool you down. read more
