Oh, I love this place. I've been coming here for at least a decade; usually for breakfast. Today, while waiting in line to order a Cardiff Crack sandwich (the Terramar), I noticed several plates of fish and chips going by and decided to order that instead. The fries were fresh-cut and seasoned, and the fish lightly breaded! It was better than Harbor Fish Cafe down on Coast Hwy and even Harbor Fish and Chips in Oceanside Harbor. I have had tacos, Benedicts, pancakes, the cinnamon bun extra dirty, and various hot drinks. Everything is always fresh! They were so sweet to Cali; they gave her a cup of whipped cream and had dog bowls stacked up on the patio for cold water. Pro tip: it is "Order first and pay at the counter", but dogs are allowed inside so you queue with your pup. I have dined indoors, and it's open and airy, but I actually prefer to sit on the patio or out front. The ambience and decor are so relaxing there versus the slight chaos inside. This place used to be pricey, but now it's surprisingly par for the course. Overall, I will be back; I still want that sandwich! Mediocre food, definitely too expensive for what you get. Fish tacos weren't very good. Fish tasted weird and undercooked even though the batter was overcooked. My family was all finishing their food by the time I got mine. Had to go to the counter to ask where my food was. Was told they were finishing up. No apology for the delay, in fact they were a bit dismissive. They really need to have someone look at their table around the palm tree. employees at the Westin said this place was really good so we were excited to check it out. We showed up 5 minutes before they opened and there was already a line out the door. one of their registers was broken so the lined moved a bit slow. the inside of the place was meant to feel rustic but ended up just being a bit dirty/dingy. There was dust everywhere and the tabletops all felt sticky. Because it is open air, there were quite a bit of flies buzzing around all the food areas. The service/staff was all very nice and friendly. Answered all our questions and without any drama. The food came out fast as well. Didn't feel like anything special to be honest. Like most people who are out of town, they go eat breakfast out. The food didn't taste exceptionally good or bad, it was just ok. The quality wasn't outstanding by any means. For example, I ordered a dish that came with sausage... the sausage was just a frozen sausage patty, not even a link. It's just around the corner from Carlsbad Village Dr, across the street from the Boys and Girls Club. It's not just a coffee spot but a nice place for a breakfast, or lunch. Portions are generous. Most of the seating is outdoors on the side patio or in front, with some limited seating indoors. We had a group of 7 people and were able to get our order in and get served fairly quickly. My fellow yelpers really helped me out with this one. After researching Yelp, we decided to find this Cafe and stop for lunch on our way from L.A. to La Jolla. It was the perfect place to stop. It is located in the middle of a residential area on the west side of the 5 freeway in Carlsbad. There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was very friendly and helpful. After we told them this was our first time there, they helped us with the menu choices. We enjoyed everything we ordered. The Granola & Yogurt was large with lots of fruit, nuts and honey. The 222 was classic and everything was cooked perfectly. The fish and chips were light and delicious. They were not breaded and fried like the classic type fish and chips. There was enough to share. The house coffee was great as well. There is plenty of street parking and restrooms were clean. This is one of our favorite breakfast spots! They have great gluten free options, delicious coffee and always have a selection of donuts from The Goods (which is an amazing donut shop (which also has gf options) on State St)! The staff are always family and service is usually pretty quick even when they have a crowd. There is both indoor and outdoor seating and dog friends are welcome. They even provide bowls at the water cooler for the 4 legged patrons. The portions are plentiful and we NORMALLY split but this time we got our own meals. the cinnamon roll pancakes will always be number 1, but they don't get them until 9am and we went at 8am:( although i didn't get them this time i have dreamed about these pancakes since i last had them in 2014... it's been 11 years & they are that good. the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes were a yummy second choice. good balance of not too sweet and not too tart. the lemon filling in the center was the best part and i wished there was more of it. the blueberry ricotta on top was delish especially with the lemon filling. the ricotta was a little gritty per usual texture. the pancakes were good but weren't any thing special without the topping. i wished the lemon filling was layered between each of the pancakes. the country burrito was so yummy. the sauce on top made it. everything in the burrito was super yummy and all the flavors complimented each other. i tried a bite of the strawberry french toast. the french toast was super yummy, but the strawberry drizzle and cream cheese was very artificial strawberry. didn't love it. the crack and eggs was great. the tri tip was cooked and seasoned perfectly. it was the best eggs benedict i've ever had. the maui pancakes were good. if you like tropical flavors this is for you. cream cheese frosting on top with shredded coconut. i preferred the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes to this one! the maui had a more tame flavor. the service was great- the waitress was really kind about being out of the french toast i wanted and handled the situation well. we got our food within 10 minutes of ordering which was amazing! the cafe was so cutely decorated and such a fun place to eat! read more
