I am not generally fond of restaurants that charge an extra few dollars for bread, although I know many do. But to charge $4.00 (listed on the website menu as $2.00) for what we were told was "fresh-baked baguette," and then to be served several pieces of toast because the kitchen was "too busy" and then STILL be charged $4.00, is a bit of an insult. Our dinners, by the way, came out quickly (almost too quickly), and the room we were in was only half full, so hard to fathom the "too busy" excuse. New owners with excellent credentials have taken the helm. Our meal last night was intentionally kept simple, steaks with a version of sauce Bordelaise. Cooked exactly as ordered. My wife's roasted potatoes should have been served hot, not room temperature. My frites were served fresh and hot, as they should. The wine we chose we agreed was very well matched to the food. The husband and wife team now at the helm will hopefully add new menu items. We are hoping (Hint! Hint!) to eventually taste the signature cassoulet whose reputation precedes them. All in all, they have hit the ground running. We are expecting a lot given the talent of the two chefs. So far we are pleased. read more

Enjoyed perfectly prepared Sea Bream, well flavoured, with summer veggies and good tapenade. Of our two appetisers the pate selection was the more appealing-rillettes, pâté de Campagne, smooth chicken liver mousse, presented with cornichon, toast and fruity conserve. Delicious Lemon Posset pot for dessert. Buttermilk cake, filled with peaches, and blueberry sauce less satisfying- peaches were lacking "peachiness" though the blueberries were tiny wild variety with intense flavor of those magical tiny berries. Attentive service. Good fare. Good butter and petit delicious rolls. Happily a Thursday night without the overwhelming summer weekend crowds of the Berkshires. Most pleasant. read more

Recently, Cafe Triskele changed ownership. While we really liked the previous owners and the restaurant (Chez Nous, then Triskele) the new owners have brought a fresh menu to their restaurant. We started with the moules-frites sharing these as an appetizer. They were delicious and certainly plentiful enough to share. My wife had the salmon which was very well prepared and delicious. I had the chicken cordon bleu. It was a new item on the menu and was wonderful. For dessert we shared the sticky toffee pudding ( one of my favorite desserts) it was served with Highlawn Farms ice cream. It was the best Sticky toffee pudding I have had since being in England. I highly recommend Cafe Triskele and plan on returning next time we are in the Berkshires. read more

This is a place we loved and went to frequently under the previous owners. It never disappointed. Now we've gone twice under the new owners and it's ok but not great and we sorely miss the old place. The food is pretty good but not great. The dishes don't come with veggies; everything is a la carte. Bread is also not included. The cod casserole is so creamy I could only eat half of it. The duck cassoulet was deemed good by one of my dining partners but left him hungry. The steak, eaten by another in our group was excellent. The menu is quite limited. And the dessert menu, like the regular menu, is very limited and nothing like the amazing dessert menu with the previous owners. read more

We had reservations here for Valentines Day! We were 6 of us. 3 adults and 3 kids. It was cozy and they sat us at a nice big round table. I started off with the Roasted Butternut Squash Soup, I tried the Pan-Seared Crab & Lobster Cakes they were very good. My son devoured the Roasted New Zealand Lamb Chops, I had the grilled Scottish Salmon which was very tasty. For dessert we tried the Blondie Sundae with Sea Salted Caramel Yum! Sat on covered porch about 6.30 on Saturday eve July 23. Lots of flies bothering everyone. Output of air conditioning heating the porch with no fan. Mains took 45 min to come out. Duck confit was very dry. One leg for 35$, too much. We have the most incredible time at Chez Nous this weekend on Sat. The service & food was outstanding! This is a hidden or not so hidden gen & one of my favorite dining experiences in a while. My boyfriend has a Gluten allergy & they were incredibly accommodating. They had the best gluten free rolls to start the meal & all of their dishes can be made gluten free. 4/5 desserts were also gluten free. We had the Pate appetizer, which was excellent! For our main we got half portions of the scallops & the duck, they were rich with flavor & excellently paired with their seasonal wines! We always have a wonderful meal - and experience - at Chez Nous. We generally eat there 2-3 times a summer. The food is always very high quality, and the service is excellent, as good as you will get a French restaurants in major cities. A couple of things we especially appreciate: 1) most of the main courses are available as half portions, which is always a nice option for those who want a lighter meal, or wish to try two mains 2) we recently ate there with a friend who eats gluten-free, and every one of Rachel's desserts - which are always delicious - was either gluten-free or available gluten-free. Chez Nous is a very pleasant French Restaurant in Lee, Massachusetts. Even though I had a late lunch and wasn't particularly hungry, I went at the request of my better half. We walked in without a reservation and their well trained staff made us feel comfortable and right at home. One of their nicest menu features is most of their entrees are offered in full size or half sized portions. When combined with an appetizer or salad, these are perfect for a reasonably priced summer meal. For my appetizer, I ordered the fried seafood fritters. Four small ones to a plate surrounded by a tasty green sauce. They were delicious. Now I have to admit, my judgement was impaired so I chose the Grilled Pasture Grazed Burger and fries with shaved truffle and garlic aioli. This was an idiotic mistake on two levels because one shouldn't be ordering a Burger in a French restaurant and two, grass fed beef is healthy but dry and the garlicky accoutrements created a large amount of gastronomic byproduct that continually tried to exit their holding area until the next day. The dessert was a stunning Lemon Lavender Posset with a beautifully subtle taste. This was one of the nicest desserts I've had in many years. If you want to try making it at home, they have the recipe on their blog. Its well worth the effort. To sum up everything up, I was a one star patron in a 5 star restaurant. I'll be back soon with a clearer head and a bigger appetite to try their other items. read more

Literally the BEST meal of my life. I had the escargot app which was simply amazing. Every flavor was on point and perfect.. Love the half plate concept so I got two entrees - the cod and beef burgundy (the special). The cod came with a butternut soufflé that might be the best thing I've ever put in my mouth. The beef was sooooooo tender it melted in my mouth and almost made me drool. I ended the best meal ever, with the best dessert ever.... I ordered the sampler and every single treat was different and delicious. I couldn't pick a favorite...even the cappuccino was superb!! The bonus was the phenomenal service on top of the wonderful food. The owners and staff were excited about the food because they know its quality and amazing.. Great food in a warm, friendly atmosphere. I came here for dinner around St. Patrick's day and was happy to see the Irish breakfast on the menu and it did not disappoint. We also ordered the mussels appetizer and it was delicious. I am not that into mussels, but I would definitely order them again. For dessert I had the chocolate cake w/ice cream and really enjoyed it. The cake was warm from the oven and the ice cream was from a local dairy - SO good. Yes, we had a great experience, the pate selection was like being in France, the home made mushroom ravioli were well executed. My wife had the scallops with an amazing sauce that I ended cleaning up as if it was a dessert. I had the rack of lamb and my wife the cod casserole. Our taste buds were doing backflips. Two days later we met up with a business associate. We came back for a repeat performance. Great food is only the beginning of a great experience. Our server Rachel was excellent, She knew the menu as she wrote it. The biggest charge I got was when my wife asked about the cod casserole. The food and service were great on our first visits. However the service has deteriorated and was chaotic on our last visit on a Sunday night. We waited a long time for a waiter, they brought our drinks at the same time as appetizers, and two orders of lamb ordered medium and medium well came out very rare. We sent them back, still rare, and sent back again, just okay. No one apologized or asked if they were okay either time. This was a fantatic dining experience. My friend and I had a 730 reservation but they allowed us to eat at the bar at 630 . The service was impeccable and one of the owners (Rebecca) happened to be taking care of us. We started with yummy cocktails -one was cherry based and was not sweet but had the right mix of alcohol and bitters. We also shared a drink that was a riff on the French 75 that was creative and tasty. Then came the food. We started with the Caeser salad and as per our request, no anchovy. It was perfectly dressed and the portion was very generous. We then split a Moules Frites and a Basque Chicken dish (great and very Provencal-like) that we soaked up with fresh home made bread that was warm and had depth to it; perfect accompanient. This place seemed to be hit or miss. I initially found this place based on how good their desserts looked. My wife liked the menu and we made a reservation. She ordered a risotto dish that was so/so, however I ordered the scallops which were spot on and over a delicious pasta the best thing I ate all weekend in the Berkshires. Had I not gotten the scallops my review might be different. As for the desserts my reason for coming here was absolutely correct, we had a blondie with salted caramel ice cream that was as good as any dessert I ever had. Remarkable experience. I went alone. Sat at bar. It was early so only me and another customer. Bartender's professionalism and courtesy was only topped by his friendliness. A refined gentleman, with the air of a regular guy. The scallops were scrumptious. And the dessert was too. Great wine selection. I had the cab. This type of restaurant is typically found in Lenox. The food is great. Our server was very friendly. Decor is nice. Prices are fair. So why 3 stars? There was a mistake in the kitchen, and the manager did a poor job in rectifying it. Rather than comp the forgotten dish, she tried to bring it out after everyone was finished eating, and then tried to wrap it up to go. It just made for an awkward experience - she should have simply apologized and offered to take it off the bill from the get go, or asked the kitchen to expedite it. We had another lovely dinner at Chez Nous, bringing out-of-town guests, who enjoyed it. We're always made to feel welcome. We love the option of half-portions and we're delighted to have the option of ordering a half-portion of one entree and a half-portion of another. We loved the lamb, which was served with a delicious goat cheese soufflé. One concern: a couple at a nearby table arrived with two dogs, not marked as service dogs, who sat next to the table and obstructed server access to the table. I thought this was a violation of health codes? At any rate, I am not comfortable with dogs in a restaurant setting. Our meal and service was "Outstanding", this was our 4th visit, but 1st one since the pandemic, The staff was totally prepared for our visit with mask requirement and social distancing. My wife and I have lived in Europe and traveled extensively, especially in France. Chez Nous is a very casual French dining establishment in the heart of Lee. It came highly recommended from the locals, and I could see why. As I said, nothing fancy, no crystal or table cloth, just a simply laid out table. I couldn't get in until 8:30 on a Saturday night, so it is popular. Hot crispy white and wheat fresh rolls and olives were on the table to start. The waitress, Shaina, was only there 6 weeks and was funny while trying to answer all my questions regarding the menu. Eventually the co-owner, Rachel, also the dessert chef, came over and walked me thru the menu. She was so lovely. I started with the pâté platter with toast points. It was deelish! I was disappointed that my favorite French cuisine dish wasn't available, escargots. I could have a dozen of those for dinner alone. But the pâté did the trick. I complimented it with a cheese platter that had Blue, Goat and White Vermont Cheddar. All good. One of the unique features of Chez Nous are the half plates for every entrée. It was a great idea especially to try multiple dishes or having a late night meal. I went with the 1/2 plate lamb chops with cous cous and mixed veggies. The 1/2 plate had 4 lamb chops which was perfect for my late entrée. I complimented it all with a lite French red wine. A type of French version Pinot Noir. Just perfect for my taste. For dessert I had the Blueberry and Nectarine tart with ice cream. It was luscious! I have to admit I was expecting the typical saucy garlicky heavy French meal, but I was happy that they have light summer menu choices appropriate for the season.
