To start, nothing on the menu really stood out as something I NEEDED to try. I got the Mexican skillet which came on a bed of tater tots and it was just waaaaayyy too much tater tot base and not enough eggs/chorizo mixture. Needless to say I didn't eat majority of my plate. Came here for brunch today with my girlfriends. We had reservations for 11:45am and I'm so glad we did because there was a big convention going on and parking was a nightmare. Definitely make a reservation! I ordered the bottomless mimosas and the bacon jam Benedict. The Benedict was really good--the bacon jam added a nice touch of sweetness and great flavor. The potatoes were tasty with a good crunch, though they were a little cold. I would definitely come back. The service was good, we didn't feel rushed at all, and we got the full two hours of bottomless mimosas. It's a really pretty restaurant and I didn't realize how big it was until I went to the bathroom. They had private rooms which had parties going on. I enjoyed the brunch and would be back. read more

Just OK. This restaurant hits the mark on everything besides food. Fast and friendly service staff, a clean and cute interior, multiple TVs for viewing, a convenient location, and clean bathrooms. I think the only drawback of Cafeteria 15L is the food. I found neither dish I had to be anything worth coming back for or worth the price in regard. My party ordered the mexican skillet and shakshuka, setting us back $17.75 each. The mexican skillet consists of eggs, chicken chorizo, onions, peppers, pepper jack cheese, guacamole, tater tots, and tortillas. Nothing in particular stood out. I expected more flavor and juiciness from the chicken chorizo, especially as it's the main protein in the dish. There was nothing significant about this dish, and I found it pretty basic in terms of its flavor, or lack thereof, but it was filling and inoffensive regardless. The shakshuka came with sourdough toasts that were super lightly toasted, two over easy eggs, and a very light serving of feta cheese throughout. I thought that the base was actually quite alright, but was disappointed with the small servings of eggs and feta, which typically characterizes other shakshuka I've had! The extremely light toast was also a bit disappointing, and we could hardly tell that it was toasted in the first place! Ultimately, Cafeteria 15L is a nice, visually pleasing restaurant to visit at least once, but the food quality to price ratio makes it hard to justify a return. read more

It's always such a great experience when we come here. The staff are fantastic and always super friendly. We made a reservation because we had a larger group. The place is so open and plenty of seating. Low tables and high tops in the main area, there's a bar to the left when you walk in with more seating and private rooms too. Made a reservation for Cafeteria 15L for Thursday evening, January 8 before attending a Broadway Show. This was my first time dining at this restaurant and my spouse and I really enjoyed the great service and excellent food. The ambiance is inviting and they were pretty busy. I do not recall our server's name but she was an excellent server and we sat at the second table from the corner, just across from the bar. Our cocktails arrived quickly as did our food. I ordered the braised short rib and my spouse ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf. My short rib was tender and tasty on a bed of risotto and mushroom. I ate every shred of the short rib and didn't leave a grain of risotto on my plate. My spouses's bacon wrapped meatloaf came with a generous helping of mashed potatos and string beans. His meal was excellent and the meatloaf had a nice spice kick to it. After dinner we had a second round of drinks and it was a quick walk to our next destination to see a Broadway show. I will absolutely be returning to Cafeteria 15L. I have already eyed my next two meals there from the menu, and I am also looking forward to trying their brunch. Highly recommend Cafeteria 15L. Delicious food and wonderful ambiance. Cafeteria 15L is a great spot to stop for brunch. Recently I went with a rather large group of girls and they were able to accommodate us quite quickly. The food was delicious. I had the avocado toast and house potatoes. The avocado toast was delicious. They gave a healthy helping of avocado. The house potatoes were also super good and had nice flavor. I would definitely get it again! Service was okay. The server was kind and helpful, however, I wish they had checked up on our table a little more. We were kind of tucked into a corner and felt a little forgotten at times. What a great place!!!!! This was a late Saturday brunch as we had arrived in Sacramento the day before on our way to our family vacation in Lake Tahoe and after spending the night, we spent the morning picking up family arriving on different flights. After everyone had arrived, we spent some time in downtown Sacramento looking at the sights, the demonstrations, the beautiful parks, and then we realized we were absolutely famished, so we went looking for food and, voilà, there was Cafeteria 15L. The place is definitely well named, at the corner of 15th and L, but the "cafeteria" is a misnomer. It is definitely NOT a cafeteria, but a welcoming restaurant filled with charm, artsy, modern, airy, with outside seating, different themes inside, the works. We arrived without a reservation, just a half hour before closing, and despite being relatively full, we were seated right away. We were on the first day of our vacation and this place was a great and unique beginning. Our waitperson was definitely a reason for my superb rating and this made the beginning of our vacation a memorable one. Fresh out of the Marines, absolutely great attitude, friendly and attentive to everything on the table. We started the brunch with Espresso Martinis, fantastic choice. Then ordered appetizers that were Truffle Tater Tots and Parmesan. I normally despise Tater Tots but these were like I've never had before. Not soggy in the least, crispy and with a memorable Truffle Oil taste made even better with the high quality Parmesan. We ordered several items each one delicious. A Crispy Prosciutto Avocado Toast, the Mexican Skillet with chorizo, eggs, onions, peppers, cheese, guacamole and tortilla. Oh yes! Two of us ordered the Cafeteria Burger, a finger-licking concoction with added Thousand Island dressing, goat cheese, a huge burger, and mushrooms. I also ordered a Device Curious Haze IPA in my eternal quest to only order local draught beers. This was one amazing brew, fresh and with a hint of tangerine and an unbelievably smooth texture and a tiny bit foamy that made me order a second one. We were stuffed when we left. No room for desserts. Cafeteria 15L also has a huge outdoor area as well as a Chandelier room. With cool weather, once it warms up it would be ideal for an evening or a day brunch. My husband and I had a very enjoyable Sunday breakfast here, largely in part due to the awesome staff! From the second we walked in, we were shown great hospitality from every staff we encountered. We were greeted right away by both hosts and shown to a booth at the bar. I would normally brunch on their inviting patio, but we were there at the same time football was on, so I asked for a view of the tvs, which are only in the bar area. All tvs were showing the Raiders game (Go Raiders!) but my husband wanted to watch the Steelers, so I asked the bartender if they could change one of them. He was so sweet and politely told me that the guests in the booth next to us requested the Raiders game. They overheard us and said they were leaving so go ahead and change the tv. The bartender went to ask the manager to change the tv and was told that every tv can only be on the same channel, and there were people on the other side watching the Raiders. The bartender kindly apologized. A few minutes later, the manager came over with her iPad with the Steelers game on it, and we could watch it with sound (the tvs are muted because they are playing music overhead). SHOUT OUT TO PHALLON!!! OMG she was amazing! Totally went above and beyond to accommodate us with watching the game. Even when they were able to change the tvs to our game, she let us continue to watch it on her iPad since we had audio. Plus throughout our meal, she would check up on us, and get us anything we needed. Best customer service I've had at any restaurant in awhile! Our food came up quickly. We ordered 3 entrees: the Mexican skillet (with chicken chorizo), the Cafeteria 15L skillet (which had pork sausage, gravy, ham, and cheese), and the French toast (with berries and cream) to share. We also had their very strong coffee that paired well with the sweet French toast. The skillets are served with perfectly fried and crispy tater tots, which my husband loved. We both liked our skillets, even though I thought the presentation was kind of plain, and it looked like a smaller portion. I was so wrong. It was enough food for us to feel full and satisfied and even have a little bit of leftovers. But the brioche French toast was nicely presented with fresh black berries, raspberries, berry compote, and a huge dollop of their house made whipped cream. To die for! Cafeteria 15L has been a mainstay in Sac for some years now, so if you've never been or haven't been in awhile, it's a great place to try or re-visit for brunch, happy hour, or dinner. They could do better, considering the burger is named after the establishment. The shoestring fries were delicious and the best thing on the plate. 2nd day in Sac and the group decided to visit Cafeteria 15L ... the vibe hits immediately upon entry. To start the day I trusted my fellow yelp peers and went with the Truffle Tater Tots. For my entree I ordered the Benedict Florentine. Won't do that again. The first Benedict I received the muffin was over overcooked to the point it was hard. They replaced it with another which the muffin was cooked good but the Hollandaise sauce had no flavor. That's something I look forward to when ordering Benedict's. For my home potatoes I asked for cheese to be added and it was barely in there. When paying for extra cheese I want the cheese to be present on the potatoes. And lastly the chicken sausage was over cooked and dry. By this time I wasn't worth it to re order. The food isn't cooked with intention .. it's cooked just get the food out quantity over quality . Not going to lie this place has been going down hill since losing key employees that worked here. The service is alright some hosts are faster than others but most seem like they don't appreciate or admire their customers time or money. I had a fantastic curry chicken soup, creamy and thick with ground chick peas, and a wonderful beet salad that included grapefruit, goat cheese, and toasted pistachios. Delicious! Other stars in my lunch group included chicken and waffles which looked outstanding (!!!) and the brick chicken which isn't breaded but seared crispy. Nice looking, healthy plate. But not as healthy as my beet salad. Our server was friendly, but didn't return to the table that often. But that was minor. The food was fantastic!
