So the sign says, "The Best Cannoli on Earth". I mean next to Ferrara Bakery thats right down the street, i'd say its definitely within the top 3. Had the mini cannoli's (2) and an iced espresso. The cannoli was bom-f*ckin-bay. The cream was freshly whipped and then stuffed into the cannoli. It had a super nice soft blend of ricotta, some vanilla and crack. I swear cuz i cam back all the way from midtown east just to get another 4 the next day. the espresso hit the spot as well. My nephew had the strawberry gelato and aunt had the coffee one and those were yummy too. Overall, go for the food and what they have to offer. The wait staff are old school and so they act like you're here for them, not them for you so thats what kept this place from getting 5 stars. read more

Stumbled upon this place when I was en route to another bakery in Little Italy when I visited NYC 9 months ago. I was compelled to patronize the spot when a couple of Italian wise guys (possibly the owners and great guys by the way) hanging outside told me "If you want the stale bread, you go to Ferrara's, but if you want the best cannoli in New York, you come here friend." Needless to say I got a cannoli to go and I wasn't disappointed at all. The place had the feel of Little Italy I've always wanted to experience. Being tourists in NY, we had to go to little italy. My BF wanted a fresh cannoli and the only other one he had had before was one that I had brought back on a flight from Modern Pastry in Boston to Seattle. Our strategy in little italy was to walk along the street until we found a packed restaurant. Well, most of the restaurants were empty until we saw Caffe Palermo. Caffe Palermo was a full house packed with people sipping coffee and chatting. We were on our way to lunch so we ordered one chocolate cannoli to go. After our first bite, we wished we had ordered one each. My BF's comment was no wonder the godfather died for this. We had lunch elsewhere and walked back for a half dozen more cannoli's to share with friends. We came in here looking for some Italian dessert in New York's Little Italy. It turned out to be the most fake piece of "Italian" fakery ever faked!!! "Tiramisu" was some sort of sugary goop dumped into an ice cream cup, having nothing to do with tiramisu, before or after it was served. The "fruit tart" was a little flat slice of dough and custard with, again, unidentified gelatinized "fruit" on top. They have a whole dessert menu book, with beautiful photos of all the desserts - do not be fooled. The actual desserts don't look anything like the descriptions. While I don't know how they would fare compared to the bakeries in actual Italy, in Little Italy this is, indeed the best place to get cannoli. Ventured there with a few friends to meet up for a bite to eat and some dessert. Had the pizza- 9 dollars for a "personal" pizza. It was very good, but so small it barely made a dent. We then ordered dessert. I had the brownie cheesecake, which was very good but not made on site (apparently they only make the cannolis and tiramisu's). Every single person at my table (there were five of us) was disgusted by the desserts. My one friend had a carrot cake that literally crumbled because it was so dry. Also, the waiter we had was very unfriendly and rude, and treated us like tourists. When we got the bill, we were shocked that it was close to $100. Good cannolis but get them to go so the staff can't treat you like sh*t. We wanted to sit to eat which was a mistake. We ask to have the check split for the 3 of us. Some how that was impossible. They claimed it used up too many paper tickets... bullsh*t. So I flipped the receipt over and wrote down the amounts on each card. The waitress insisted this was impossible. I explained to her if we would have ordered up front and taken it to go, it would be possible. It's very possible to split a check! The waitress was extremely rude. She apparently didn't appreciate having to cash us out and took approximately 15 minutes to do so. I was pretty upset with this experience. We wandered in this cafe for dessert after having dinner in C-town. We ordered two cannolis, an almond cone dessert, a strawberry cream cheesecake, 2 coffees and 2 Irish coffees. The bill turned out to be $57 (and that was with a 50% off the 2nd cannoli with a yelp check-in)! I would say while the desserts were good (not $57 good) the star was definitely the almond cone. I'd definitely go back for THAT but everything else can be found elsewhere for much cheaper. I give it 4 stars for taste/2 stars for price. read more

*short version* If you want a nice serving of attitude and pretentiousness, you got it! As for the cannoli, I've had better from Wegmans (supermarket). Their banner should be changed to: Biggest assholes with attitudes on the planet selling your their dumb cannolis. The "Best Cannoli on the Planet" sign attracted my attention as I walked by their store during the horrid treacherous rain/snow/hail mix that day. I was never a big fan of cannolis but I figured that if this was the best, I should at least give it another try. I fumble in, enjoying the brief relief from the cold weather outside and as I try to get myself situated and see 4 trays of cannolis on the counter with a seating area to my left. I thought to myself this might be a good sign. All the good pretty much ended there. The man, who looked like the owner with his slicked back hair and pinky ring was on the phone, put my two canolis in a bag and asked me for $7.00. He was on the phone this whole entire time. As my frozen hands reached into my wallet, pulled out a credit card, he rolls his eyes to tell me that it's cash only. Okay then. I pay and walk over to the 70% empty seating area, sat down to get to rest from the snow/hail mix outside as one of their nonchalant lazy looking waitress comes over to tell me and my bf that the seating area is only for people who are ordering and people who purchased at the counter are for take our only and that we had to leave. Damn FRIGID bitch! I'd much rather go back into the snow after this. read more

Being not a huge fan of the canolli, I decided to opt for Tiramisu. Definitely not a tiramisu place. The one I got was kinda mushy from the residual alcohol and since I had it to go, it leaked out into my bag. Not the greatest feeling to have sticky boozy residues in your bag. Been here before, and the cannoli is good. The rainbow cookies were my favorite though. The raspberry jam was so fresh and the cake layers were moist and flavorful. My friends loved the eclair. We tried the regular and mini cannoli, nothing super amazing but some interesting flavors like amaretto and peanut butter. Some of the menu items are ridiculously priced. $6 latte? Come on. This was my first venture into Little Italy in NYC. Having lived in Philadelphia, I was a regular visitor of the Italian market and enjoyed some great Italian delights -- especially Cannolis! This place had huge banners advertising its cannolis as being the best on the planet so decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, over promises and under delivers. I'm from Hartford CT and we have a miniscule Italian section left there, but the quality of the foods from there blows NYC away...My first visit to Little Italy and should I ever go back, from now on I'm sticking to the pasta in the restaurants (THE BOMB) and avoiding any NYC pastries. 4 of us went for a quick bite this afternoon. We sat at a small table of 6 and the waitress asked us to move to a 4 persons table and left without saying hello. The place is half full and when she came back I asked her to stay there. She refused. I exercised my choice to spend my money elsewhere. I've never had a canolli before but I don't know about them having the best canolli. It was just Okay.. the shell was too hard and fell apart after the first bite. We stopped by there around 9pm on a week night to catch the a Monday Night Football game and drink some wine. They said they closed at 10pm usually but they started putting things away around 9:30. One of the best cannoli's Ive had, and having old school Chicago Italian grandparents this says a lot! Place is classic fake-italian. I ordered a cappuccino and they brought me a caffèlatte topped with cinnamon (at least they used the correct caffèlatte glass), which is pretty much the americanized idea of cappuccino, but I am Italy born and raised and I know what I am asking for. Sfogliatella looked fresh but was not. Pretty mediocre filling too. I did not taste the cannoli or the other pastries but the place seemed empty and the business slow. I have very mixed feelings about this place. The service I do not like. If you are not staying in or spending a lot they treat you very poorly and like you are worthless because you arent spending a lot. They are also overpriced. I had a napoleon and it was the worst 5$ I've ever spend. The thing looked and tasted like it was made when Napoleon Bonaparte was still alive. Horribly old. The second time I went cause they have this offer if you check in they give you 2nd Cannoli 50% off. The cannolis are really really good, not gonna lie. As Im writing this review Im craving a couple of those. She was very helpful in choosing selections from their six pages of desserts. She was attentive but not intrusive. Awful, awful, awful. We were tired, needed a sit down and the loos. We wanted pizza too. One of us is a vegan and ordered a panini. Cheap white bread and very little in the way of filling. The rest of us ordered pizzas to share and got two frozen, heated up pizzas. The top of the base underneath the topping was soggy and there wasn't much pepperoni on them either. I guess this is more of a 'bakery' and the desserts are much better. But don't go here for savoury food. The restaurant is very cramped too and when a bunch of tourists came in to sit behind us we could barely move without knocking them. read more
