Had no idea this cafe existed. Has a really quite extensive menu for the size of the establishment. Saw some folks drinking root beer floats which is very fun. Decor is something out of a 1950s Americana /grandmas living room/Cracker Barrel fever dream which is kitschy and fun and interesting to stare at as you try to choose a sandwich. Service was kind and attentive and they bus the food to your seat. Would def make a repeat visit esp to sit out in their spacious outdoor patio space.

I stumbled across this place on Yelp and was perplexed by its description that I had to drive out to North Hollywood and check it out. It's the cutest and quaintest little spot. It's a bit quirky too but in all the best ways. The people working there are absolutely precious... so kind and warm. The atmosphere is welcoming and rustic. I adore the outside garden patio on a perfect La Day . My fave part- the food. Sandwiches and so satisfying. The SOUP is scrumptious. They even season the raw veggies to perfection. On Tuesdays they have an open mic night for comics. How fun. Check it out and support local businesses!

Great food, great service, and such a cool vibe! I had the muffuletta and it was delicious. Will be coming back!

LOVE this place for sandwiches. Healthy and everything is so fresh. I love the filling ingredients. I only have two pictures but I've tried so many items on the menu and everything is as delicious as the other. The place is very cute it looks antique with a cute patio outside that feels like you're in a garden and the employees are nice. Will be coming here for a while.

Never ever had a chance to use one of these antique toilets.

I've been coming to Cahuenga General Store for over a decade. My most recent visit this past April was the best yet. We ordered two sandwiches, the New Yorker (roast beef, ham, and cheddar) and the Bleu Bird (sliced chicken, bacon, bleu cheese, Swiss, caramelised onions, and tart apple slices. Both were served on warm French rolls with a raw veg mix of carrots and cucumbers, salted and peppered. One may select a bag of chips instead of the crudités when ordering. The New Yorker was excellent, but the Bleu Bird was superb. The bread and the chicken were so good, and I don't even like Swiss or bacon, but they elevated the flavour of the sandwich rather than overpowering it, complemented by the crisp, juicy apple. We also ordered a bottled root beer and a lemonade. The lemonade was made from scratch right in front of us, and was perfectly tart-sweet and refreshing. We sat outside on the patio, which was breezy and shady on a typical April SoCal day. Hummingbirds and butterflies buzzed by. The pleasant and efficient waitstaff brought everything out to us when it was ready. We had the patio to ourselves on an April Thursday. There is indeed an old-timey-looking "general store" inside - an 1800s Wild West aesthetic with antique items on display, and a few products like pretty notecards available for purchase. I'm not sure about parking as we live within walking distance, but on a weekday, there should be some street parking available right in front.

    Cute & cozy inside

Such a cozy little gem! Their menu items taste fresh, clean, & homemade. Front desk girls are always sweet! We all love their sandwiches & salads for its simplicity. I always pre order over the phone & pick up.

Tickets: You can pre-purchase tickets on Eventbrite Food: We had brunch so you really can't go wrong with breakfast food, however, the food was yummy. Especially the cinnamon rolls. The bottomless mimosa is worth it if you have a few people with you. Service: Now I'm going to assume service was a bit slow b/c of the drag show being packed however, we had a great server! Ambiance: When you walk into the Idle Hour, you're immediately transported into a dark brewery. So cool. Plenty of space for groups. Parking: street parking, not sure if they have a lot behind the venue. So Go, Enjoy & have a Drag-tastic time!!

This place deserves all of the stars. I have become a regular here because of the amazing people…read morewho work here, the fantastic food, great drinks, cool vibe, good music, drag brunch, and themed events. The people who work here: all kind and helpful and on top of their stuff. This place gets really packed sometimes but even in the chaos, when customers are rude and drunk and break things they keep their cool, always. But don't treat them poorly. I will come for you. Chard is the GM and he is one of the kindest and most generous humans I have had the pleasure of know and is the mastermind behind getting the themed nights up and going. His ability to make a person feel welcome is pretty much unmatched in my opinion. The food: omg you guys the FOOD!!!! It's so good. They just changed the menu so I haven't gotten to try everything yet but the chicken dumplings are delicious. A bit of a kick but the best kind. The chili cheese fries that my friend had were also so good. Perfect cheese to chili ratio with the fries. There is a chef in the back who is passionate about food and making sure it tastes perfect so I trust everything is good. But if you are unsure ask the servers or bartenders. They won't steer you wrong. The drinks: admittedly, I mostly drink just screwball on the rocks. However every mixed cocktail I have had here has been perfection. Mark is the manager and he could be a mixologist, should be a mixologist, super nice guy who is shockingly good and remembering peoples drink preferences. Like a year ago was the last time I ordered cider and he remembered! The vibe: I wouldn't really call this place a dive bar, but it's sort of got a hint of dive bar going on. The back patio is really nice during the summer but sitting inside the barrel is fun too. The bulldog is kinda small so you won't fit a ton of people in there but it's still fun. Lots of places to sit although sometimes it does get packed and it's standing room only. Not to mention, they allow dogs!!! This is a great place to come with a first date. It's good for dressing up a little but not too much and there are some corners you can sit in so you can have a little closeness. But the staff will also keep an eye out for you. If you are feeling uncomfortable in any way, they will keep an eye out for you and help you out. There isn't a designated dance floor but they won't be mad if you dance in the area that you've got available to you. Just don't accidentally knock anything over or hit anybody. The music: Chard is usually in charge of the play list but even when he isn't the music is usually pretty great and there's a band that comes and plays on Sundays for a while in the afternoon/evening. I have found some of my new favorite music because of this place. Drag brunch: I've never actually attended because I've heard it gets a little crazy and that can be a little scary overwhelming for me, but they do it everyday Saturday and Sunday and that's been going strong for a pretty long time so I have to assume it's a good time. The themed events: this is the kind of crazy I can handle though. They have done lots of the rings, zelda anniversary, a Star Wars themed singles event for Valentine's Day, a scholastic book fair, and Easter egg hunt, their Halloween and New Year's Eve events were AMAZING, I could go on and on. People turn up for these events and they are just some of the most fun especially with the costumes you will see. Go to Idle Hour. I've never loved a bar before. This place is something else. I promise you won't be disappointed, unless you're one of those kinds of people who finds something wrong no matter how amazing the place is or you're kind of an entitled jerk.

I ordered the double cheeseburger, and it was absolutely delicious. The burger was packed with flavor, the cheese was perfectly melted, and the buns were soft, fluffy, and airy. The patties weren't smash burgers and were on the thinner side, but they were still juicy and satisfying. My husband ordered the BBQ burger, and he really enjoyed his as well. For our side, we shared the loaded tots. They were crispy, well-seasoned, and a great addition to the meal. Service was good overall. The cashier seemed a little serious at first and didn't really greet us, but when we asked to swap out a drink, she was very accommodating and didn't charge us extra. There was a small misunderstanding when I asked about side options, but she quickly explained that another table had the menu and went to grab one for us. She was friendly and helpful throughout the rest of the interaction. The restaurant was clean, which I always appreciate. The atmosphere could use a little improvement, though. It felt a bit stuffy inside, two of the three menu screens weren't working, and it was very quiet with no music playing, which made the dining room feel a little empty. Overall, the food was definitely the highlight and I'd come back for the burgers and loaded tots.

The ahi sandwich was bland and unremarkable. The fries were far too overbreaded for my taste. I used to love this place, but now, after two not-great experiences with meh food and bad seating, I do not think I'll be back. Please, guys! Lower your bench seating and improve your burgers! You're competing with Forman's and Laurel Tavern!
