Ive been here a handful of times and each time I am greeted by a warm and welcoming employee (Alijes, I'm not sure how to spell the name) I've tried many different pastries and desserts and I keep coming back for the donuts!! So far, my favorite flavor is the Lavender Lime. I tried the Keylime Cheesecake, I wasn't a fan--also wasn't expecting it for cost $15 for the slice!! But the donuts are my personal favorite. They have a great selection of vegan pastries and desserts. This is a great place for someone who is dairy free or vegan. I have been planning on visiting this bakery for months, due to it being walking distance from the hotel I booked downtown. I almost didn't go because my energy was shot but I am so glad I pushed thru as this was such a treat! I love, love, love bakeries & I have been on the hunt to find new ones. To find a vegan one is like finding the pot of gold at the end. The space was filled with a handful of tables & chairs, & their well crafted landscape & flowers outside was a wonderful touch (I bet many of those attract hummingbirds). The glass case was full of playful colors, crispy golden crusts, glistening glazes, & swirls of sweetness. I loved that they had seasonal fall treats like pumpkin muffins & cinnamon rolls. Life is great when your worry for the day is having a hard time choosing! I got the vanilla bean glazed donut & the raspberry pistachio donut. Both were heavenly, with the dough like clouds, pull apart melt in your mouth. The vanilla bean was delicately rich, not sure how they pulled that off, and the raspberry frosting was perfection. I really had to fight the temptation to get more to go but now I am regretting it (luckily I live only 30 min away :)) For drink I had the pumpkin pie spice latte & I really enjoyed that! Perfect amount of sweet & spice, nothing artificial tasting, just wish it was more creamier. HOLY COW! This vegan bakery is AMAZING! I am in awe of the delicious treats they have created, and all of them being vegan! This is a dairy free girl's dream bakery. I ordered three items even though I only came for the tres leches. Those three things were: a crème brûlée donut, a slice of mango cheesecake and the tres lèche cake. All three were a 10/10. I don't know how they made such delicious treats, but they did. This place was busy and for a good reason. The prices were a little high for the cheesecake and tree leches, but dairy free/vegan alternatives are on the pricier side, so I can understand some of the prices. Everything inside looked delicious, from the breakfast tacos to the scones and donuts to the cold case items. I will be returning for future sweet treats :) They keep the inside clean and there is free parking outside. You can even watch some of the prep work taking place through the glass windows. I get so happy seeing their pop pastries in coffee shops around town and other offerings. I finally got to come back to their brick and mortar and I just wanted to leave a review! All I can say is if you've not been by Cake Thieves Bakery by now you are doing your tastebuds & belly a serious injustice! And she on you! I've been coming here since shortly after they opened. (Since I had purple hair. ) I tried her lavender scones, & I was hooked. I've tried so many of her goodies since then over the years, but I always come back for the scones. Being a baker myself I'm harsh on bakeries. They have not ever, not one time, disappointed my taste buds. The fact that they are vegan I really questioned whether I would like the food. The first bite, I questioned why I ever ate any other. Her baked goods are not only fresh & perfectly baked, but they aren't ever dry or hard. I'll be honest, being single I can't always eat everything I but the first day. Sometimes what I purchase will wait a day or three!!! In the fridge for me to consume it. I pop it in the microwave or oven for a bit & it's still wonderfully good. I haven't ever been disappointed with the taste or quality of the product. But, right out od the store is best. And the scones rarely make it past the corner. #iykyk That lemon blueberry scone made it to IH35 before it was devoured! It was baked to perfection. Moist, the blueberries were plump & the lemon taste was spot on. The first bite of the orange cranberry scone was also perfect. You can taste the orange without it being over powering & the cranberries are sprinkled throughout with perfection. With the scones I ate back in London & Wales I always wanted butter with Cake Thieves scones no time! I just eat them because they are perfect. I truly cannot stop recommending this bakery to everyone I talk to & have for years. The muffins are baked amazingly, the cookies are so good they'll leave you wanting more, and those pop tart like pastries - those are my other go to goodies!!!! Try them all!!!! Cake Thieves! I don't know if they're stealing cake, but they've stolen my heart. I swung by on my way home one morning and was amazed at all the non cake options. Pie tarts, kolaches, scones, muffins, donuts, pound cake, and on... oh my! I eventually decided on a sampling of a homer donut (simple pink frosting and sprinkles), blueberry streusel muffin, and pineapple peach pie tart to bring home. I don't think prices for pastries are posted, but it's been about $5/treat. Everything was delicious! I came back the next morning with a friend to co-work and Sam was so nice! She checked in on us and made sure we had coffee/tea as needed. It was a warm and welcoming place to be, and judging by the friendly chatter, a lot of people coming in were regulars. Since then I've been back for more treats to go! Some of my favorites have been the pineapple peach tart, blueberry muffin, lemon scone - so tender and not dry at all!, The jalapeno cheddar kolache was also incredible - they use the same dough as their croissant and it is soo good! I believe donuts don't have much upside in creative in flavor. My experience with donutshops is that most places do to much on the presentation rather then focusing on the taste. Other places focus on the taste and do nothing for the presentation. This place has a perfect balance on presentation and tastes. The donuts look as good as they taste. The bread falls between a soft pretzel and a common donut making this place really stand out in the donut game. I was surprised how much this reminded me of carnival food in the best way. I had the classic glazed and the cinnamon sugar donut. It's a place I might stop by before heading to a UTSA game with a coffee. I think this is a 4.5. will be giving it a 5 due the the texture of the donuts being something that I want all donuts to be in the world. read more

I would not recommend trying this place if you're using the "Too Good To Go" app! Where I work, I often place large orders for pastries for the entire staff, so I like to try a place before I give them that much business. Using the Too Good To Go app allows me to vet the places ahead of time. I've tried a couple times to go here, but literally upon my arrival at the designated time 4pm, they immediately cancel the order. So, I guess the "thieves" in the name is appropriate. They've stolen time and effort. Even when I mentioned the inconvenience to the frontline worker, the person's response was basically a shoulder shrug as if to say "That's your problem!" Cake Thieves is tucked in a small shopping center directly next to black lab brewery. Since they are only open until 4pm, parking shouldn't be an issue. I've had a variety of different pastries from here and all have been great. Specifically, I've had a few of their Poptarts, banana donuts & lemon fog scone. They have something for everyone so I'm sure you can find something you'll enjoy. Each visit I've always felt very welcomed by their staff, which provides a great customer-centric environment. Also, they have offered great recommendations to me when I can't decide what to order. Upon arrival, we entered the business through the outward opening double door located at the B-A Corner of the business. The business shares the A Side with the neighboring financial institution. We were immediately enthusiastically greeted by a young female with blue hair and clad in a white t-shirt, denim pants, and glasses, possibly known as Sam. She faves us a few moments to view their wares, all of which looked ridiculously delicious. We settled on two vanilla iced doughnuts, one dirty chai donut, and an apple spice pop pastry. To drink we went with an Americano and a rooibus latte. They only offer oat and almond milk due to being a vegan bakery. We were promised we wouldn't notice a difference between vegan baked goods and the things I normally consume. Do not let the "V" Word scare you because no truer words have been spoken. The doughnuts were amazing. Being baked, they were fluffy like a fried donut, but that didn't stop them from being beyond amazing. The pop pastry, though, was asounding. Basically, as good as the pastries looked, they tasted much better. The barista, possibly Jan, took care of the drinks, which were equally tasty. We ate to contentment as we watched Kia cut fresh apples for whatever creations were coming next. It was confirmed that a larceny has been occuring, hunger being stolen from every person who enters. SPECTACULAR BAKERY! This beautiful cake is a true work of art. We had a dinner party in celebration of an important birthday on the super moon partial eclipse. I did not ask for certain flavors but asked Sam to create from the things my sister liked. Not only a true show stopper, this cake was the best tasting cake in years. It was very much like a Renoir painting that changes in the different lights. The icing had star dust which reflected off the cake differently as day became night. This was magical. The cake was coconut with milk and cream, filled with strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. The crumb was tender and tasty. The Icing was perfect, not too sweet or thick.
