The layout is organized and it's easy to find what you're looking for, but if you can't find something it seems an associate is always nearby to help. The cashiers are quick and efficient, and a new one shows up quickly when the line gets long so there's never a long wait. You can also order ahead and do "curbside" pickup. There is a separate building dedicated to grilling supplies and accessories. They have a large and wide selection of pellets, briquettes, wood chips and a mind-bending wall of seasonings. There is a good garden section in back with a modest selection of quality plants that you can trust.

I have to say, this was the single most unfriendly Ace I have ever been to. Not subjectively but…read moreobjectively: I was here early on a Friday morning, walked past an otherwise unoccupied cashier - no greeting (no smile, no eye contact, no "Good Morning" nothing), and as I wandered around the unfamiliar store looking for what I needed, no offers of assistance. I practically had to step IN FRONT on someone to ask for the last item I was looking for despite several folks in red vests. At checkout same cashier didn't ask for my phone number for Ace Rewards. When queried, she responded that the transaction was complete and offered a half hearted cancellation and rering. I did decline. I wish this was an anomaly but I was in this store with my son about two weeks ago to a similar response. The only competitive advantage that locally owned hardware stores have over big box stores and Amazon is service. I live in Hawaii (Oahu) and have a home in Phoenix --- Barry's Ace Hardware in Phoenix is amazing. I have already given up and defected to Home Depot in Hawaii for the same reasons as above.

I have wanted to review Ace Hardware since they opened about 4 years ago. So, here goes…read more.. First, the staff there work really hard. They are friendly, kind, and, yes, helpful. Every time I am there I hear staff making recommendations of what they like to use in terms of products and how-to do something. That is important to me because if an employee isn't using their own products, what is the point? Second, they deal with some extremely rude people-I mean RUDE. I heard a man ask for help in plumbing and one of the female employees went to assist. He said you can't help because you don't know what you are talking about. She told him that she was not an expert but she could get him what he needed. He grunted at her and walked away. See, RUDE. Those employees are not experts at anything. They work in retail for what I assume is minimum wage. If they were experts they would be working in their expert fields. They offer as much assistance as they can. It is really silly to expect more. Third, they carry a lot of different products. Maybe not as much as Bill's Ace Hardware but they always offer to order what you need if they do not carry it in-house. Lastly, the cashiers are so nice! They welcome you when you come in, they smile at the counter, if they do not know about something they try to find out. Great! So, that is my review. I recommend you stop by and go shopping! I know I do REGULARLY!

Just can't say enough about the team at Alamo Ace Hardware. Craig, Keith, Bruce, Brennan, Michael,…read moreAl, Marty or Sharon....all so talented. Whether you are looking for simple home improvement items or you aren't quite sure what you need, they likely have it. The BBQ area, the kitchen and the inventory - just amazing. You could go anywhere for these things and some choose to go to the big box stores because the perception is that you will save money. While you may get some things for a little less, the value Ace and their staff provides is second to none. You just dont wait. Walk in and they help you - even if you aren't sure what you are doing. I could be in and out of Ace Alamo before someone even talks to me at Home Depot or Lowes. If you are on the fence, go there - will be well worth your while.

Celebrating Alamo Ace Hardware: from a long time customer…read more The magic of Alamo Ace Hardware starts with its remarkable longtime general manager, Keith Gilbert--part ringmaster, part retail genius--who's been running the show since the days of Yardbird. Thanks to Keith, this isn't just a hardware store...it's an experience. Walk through the doors during any holiday season and you're immediately greeted with festive, colorful, over-the-top displays that put a smile on your face. Then the real adventure begins--where else can you find Grandma-worthy homemade pies, Pokémon cards, a seriously swoon-worthy kitchen section, and every nut, bolt, and tool imaginable all under one roof? Alamo Ace has that rare, old-school, family-run feel--where people actually know what they're talking about and are genuinely happy to help you. It's the kind of place where you come in for a lightbulb and leave wondering how you lived without one of their Apple pies. Huge shout-out to the all-star team: Sharon in Electrical, Michael, Marty, Brennon, and Bill in Paint; Norm and Sue in Customer Service; Dennis, Al, and Bruce in Fasteners; Dianne and Kelly in Kitchen; Valerie in Garden; and Annie, Laurie, Joan, and Sharon at Checkout. And to anyone I missed--thank you. You all make this place what it is, a real neighborhood treasure! We are beyond lucky to have this gem in our neighborhood.
