Have been to the SJSU and Blossom Hill locations in the past, but my first time at this Evergreen location. It satisfied the craving as usual!! Sparcos is always my go-to Mexican spot in the South Bay. This location is super clean and new inside. We came on a Friday night at around 7:30pm, and the restaurant was mostly full, but there were still some empty tables open. Service is quick, and there's the self-serve station for cilantro/onions/radish/lime/salsa. I always get the Cali burrito since there's fries inside. It's always fresh and warm and, in my opinion, a good portion. Didn't get it this time, but the sopes and tacos are also some of my favs. Will be back! read more

We tried a variety of items listed below! Wet Burrito Suadero 10/10 2x Meat Burrito (Asada y Al Pastor) 10/10 Cali Fries 8/10 Birria Burrito 8/10 Chicken Quesdilla 7/10 To begin with their Wet Burrito (Suadero) satiated my cravings completely once again. Their 2x meat burrito (Al Pastor y Asada) always satisfies and their portion sizing is superb for a real eater such as myself. (Also never order the lettuce in your double meat burrito, it ruins it in my opinion) Next, their Birria Burrito was pretty good as well! It has deep flavor especially with the dip that it is paired with but was a tad bit more oily than the other burritos. The Cali Fries were very good, they certainly loaded it up & it's a great option to get when you are craving that supplementary crunch! Finally the last item was the chicken quesadilla. It was as good as you would expect but the flavor may be a bit bland compared to the other dishes ordered. I got the double meat burrito and a horchata. The service was fast and Jesus was very nice, he noticed me standing and waiting for my take out and he pulled out a chair for me. I have always loved Spartan tacos, so I was excited to visit this Evergreen location closer to home. The ambiance is a nice upgrade since it's much cleaner and more spacious than the original spot. It's rarely as busy, so you don't feel overstimmy, which makes for a more relaxed dining experience. While the tacos are still delicious, I did find that the service and food quality weren't quite on par with the DTSJ location. I ordered the Milanesa plate and it was not good. The breading was coming off, there's absolutely no crisp, and zero flavor. I've had amazing Milanesa in tortas at other establishments but it doesn't go well with rice and beans here. Ordered takeout I enjoyed the birria and carne asada super burritos from Cali Spartan. They were tasty and had plenty of meat, though not as tasty as the burritos from the downtown location. Michelada shrimps were bland, overcooked and the sauce tasted identical to tapatio. They also do not have good packaging for them so the sauce will spill out of the container. The rice was also very dry and had an undercooked and floury taste. While they have an unlimited salsa bar for dine-in customers, they are oddly stingy with their salsas to-go. If you want a salsa verde, you will need to trade them one of your other salsas.. Another odd limitation - they absolutely refuse to put chips on the side for nachos. I've been going to Spartans since high school and have seen them expand into so many areas over the years. This was my first time visiting their Evergreen location. The inside is pretty spacious. The table we were sitting at was right in front of the restroom which is a bit awkward since people had to squeeze through...I wouldn't recommend sitting there. I always order three little crispy tacos (two pastor, one asada) with a side of rice. Our order took less than 10 minutes to come out. I LOVE the rice here, but today it was a bit overcooked. The crispy tacos, however, were as amazing as always. We did have to ask three times for mango salsa since it was accidentally given to the table in front of us. I really wish they had mango salsa available at the sauce bar instead. Overall, the food tastes pretty much the same and less crowded than other locations! read more

Been here several times since returning to SJ after a year abroad. I was super glad they've opened much closer to me cuz the downtown one is always so crowded and parking would suck. The workers here are really nice and food comes out fast. The dining area itself is big and plentiful. I've heard when they first opened, the service wasn't too good but I guess they've revamped because I've gone several times and service has always been pleasant the multiple times I went. Been meaning to try this place since it opened and finally went today with my family for a to-go order. The ordering process was just okay--I had to repeat my order a few times, and when it was shown on the screen, a couple of items were missing. The cashier seemed new, and another staff member had to step in to help. Our food was ready right on time, and while we waited, one of the servers gave my kids some candy, which made them super happy. When we got home, I noticed my kids' tacos still had some ingredients I had asked to leave off. Luckily, my kids ended up enjoying them anyway. I wish their salsa bar had containers so we could grab sauces while waiting for our food. Who wants to unpack their order to throw cilantro, onion, etc, on top of their tacos after waiting like 20 mins. This was a bummer as I didn't end up grabbing anything for my tacos since I headed next door to grab a tea while waiting. The bro in law was already in the car with our order when I was done, so I didn't go back into the resto. Otherwise, the crispy tacos here were good. I got a carnitas burrito for the hubby and he said it was a good size. It actually ended up bursting. He did note, there was a lot of rice and the ingredients weren't evenly distributed. I did have a weird communication issue with the cashier. When asking if I could get different meats on the 3 crispy taco combo, she said yes. When I picked my meats and went to order, she said we don't have a crispy taco combo. Weird, but I kept clarifying and she finally understood what I meant. I pointed to the menu and everything before she said no, so not sure what the mix up was. There was something else that happened with payment that I don't quote remember, but suffice it to say, ordering was a challenge. The servers are generally friendly. There's a small self serve condiments bar with some spicy stuff and other sauces. There's a lot of seating. Lots of parking. I'm so happy to see Spartans opening up so many new locations. I remember when it was just the DTSJ truck and restaurant back in college, then Blossom Hill, and now here in Evergreen. Every new location has become my new favorite each time. They're so consistently good and the service is always great. They really do have THAT many delicious options for everyone to choose from and find their new go-to. I usually go for their Cali Quesadilla but their Crispy Tacos are also a great Spartans must-have. I'd say they have one of the best orange sauces & their drink menu is huge from specialty horchatas (the Peanut Butter one is so good!) to many creative Mexican inspired cocktails. The staff is always so fast and kind. ALL of the servers, not just ours, periodically checked on us multiple times to see if we were enjoying our dinner. We also came when they hosted a huge Vietnamese family for a birthday celebration which was really fun to see all the workers come out & sing. I usually go to the one on Blossom Hill but came to this location for dinner with my cousin for the first time. I didn't realize they opened a new location. They didn't have all the sauces compared to the one on Blossom Hill unless folks took them to their table. They only have little plates where you can put the veggies but there was no small bowl or cup to put the sauce in. The sauce was warm and not as chilled as the one at the Blossom Hill location. I ordered my usual dish which was the super quesabirria. That definitely hit the spot and filled me up. My wife ordered the garlic shrimp. I think she was surprise it came with fries instead of beans and rice. Usually she orders the burrito or tacos but decided to try something new. I never tried their menudo since I thought they only serve it on weekends like most places and didn't realize it was served all day. I rarely come on the weekend. The menudo was really good. The tripe was not soggy like other places. I think they use annatto oil since the menudo was a very bright red color. I like my menudo with an extra spicy kick so I added Tapatio to it with pepper flakes. Don't get me wrong, the menudo was already good without the Tapatio and I always try my food before I add any hot sauce or salsa or condiments just to see what the original flavor is like. I usually order a bowl of the birria when I eat at Cali Spartan and now that I know the menudo is served every day, I'm getting the menudo moving forward. The service was good. The server came to our table to get our order and came close to the end to ask if we wanted anything else or for togo. I think the staff could have came in the middle or right after we tried our food to see if we liked our food and if we wanted to order any other beverages to go with our food. There is a lot of space and tables at this location similar to the Blossom Hill location. I prefer to dine in and only order to go if I have to. They play music here as well so you can enjoy ur food and still feel festive if you like this type of atmosphere. We arrived around 5pm so we were able to get seated but around 6pm, more people were coming in and had to wait. If you don't want to wait to be seated, better to come early like before 5:30pm or come later around 8:30pm. This is similar to their Blossom Hill location when I go during certain days in the week. Definitely try this place out. They have 3 locations but I haven't tried the original location which is in downtown San Jose since I avoid going to that area. read more

The place was packed just like other Cali Spartan locations, which speaks to its popularity. The food was tasty, no doubt about that. However, I was pretty disappointed with the service and overall team coordination. There were plenty of staff around, but things felt disorganized. While they were somewhat friendly, the professionalism just wasn't there, and I didn't feel particularly welcomed. Also, the music was way too loud while I was waiting for my food & waiting over 25 minutes for my food, my clothes ended up smelling like greasy cooking. And Price was higher side for me. Same tacos which is nice and we weee able to be seated immediately ona sunday at 1pm but the wait for service and food took like over 45 mins combined from when we were seated to when we started eating. The place is also so crowded and loud.. the music and the two tvs playing different things (one side was police reports the other side was sitcoms) was chaotic.. I would come at an even more off time or get takeout next time. I like the super soft tacos or the small crispy tacos. I got the cali soft taco too but it was just too much in a small taco. I tried the zucchini, fish and mushroom and they were all good but I think I would rank them in that order but I think it's all personal preference LOL I would recommend them all! I feel like a lot of the low reviews on here were based on their experience from their grand opening day. Which I would say is understandable because I also came here during their grand opening and it was very crowded. Honestly, I think they just weren't prepared for the rush of customers that their opening was going to bring in. Pro tip: When you first come in, if you would like to sit down and eat, you can either wait for someone to seat you or just seat yourself. The confusing part is that there's also a line for take out. We had no idea and we thought we were supposed to order at the counter then sit down with our food. We were waiting in the take out line for a few minutes until a worker let the whole line know that it's for take out and if we wanted to sit down to eat that we could just grab a table. During their grand opening, we waited like half an hour before I asked the worker about our food. They told us it's coming out next which honestly made me feel like they may have forgotten us. The food eventually came out and I do feel like the quality is on par with their other locations. My favorite will always be their little crispy tacos. However, my new favorite is their nacho fries. Other than those, I haven't tried anything else on their menu because I'm more than satisfied with those items. I came back a week after their grand opening on Memorial Day and the service was much better. We sat down, ordered, and the food came out within 5 minutes.
