I had the pleasure of trying California Chicken Cafe today. I ordered the half chicken with the side salad. The chicken was cooked to perfection. The rotisserie chicken was juicy and mildly seasoned. They do offer a variety of sauces, but in my opinion, they aren't needed. The portions were well worth the value spent. I also ordered the house lemonade, which was refreshing and worth the value. I think overall I spent under $20. The location is inside a shopping center in El Segundo, so parking during peak hours can be difficult. Everything here tastes so fresh. You can't miss with what you order.. the roasted chicken is really good. The chicken Caesar wrap and the 91 wrap are top tier. The service was fast and the staff was super nice and attentive. They answered all of our questions and anyone who asked about the menu. Super chill staff. The one thing people may not like though is that it is loud. Outside seating only. Even though it's July it was windy and cold and you can hear all the traffic around. It can be loud. We had been regular customers of the location on Lincoln. We were ecstatic to see a location opening closer to home. Everything we have eaten here is incredible. My favorite is the rice wrap (with Chinese chicken salad dressing). The California chicken salad and the Chinese chicken salad are both incredible. The drive up and walk up ordering is great for take out. Parking can be a struggle if you want to get your food at the drive up. It can be a long wait if you don't order ahead because everyone in the South Bay is catching on to this amazing hidden gem. By far my favorite place to eat at a packed Chargers commons. They have a few tables of you want to eat there, but I love that there is no dining room, helps keep prices lower than most of the surrounding spots. read more

First time visiting. Only one menu posted outside to view what's available. Had to wait in line in hot sun to view the menu and to place the order and no place to sit inside. Took quite a bit to get our food. My wife ordered 1/4 chicken and a side of Chinese salad. I ordered 1/2 chicken with a small side of roasted potatoes. We ordered to eat there but our ordered came out packed to go, not sure if that's how the orders are automatically served. Well, the chicken portions were regular size, not small like noted on some reviews; however, neither my wife or I were impressed with the taste of the chicken. There was nothing special about it. Mine was inconsistent in taste, one bite it would be tender and a bit juicy and the next bite would be very dry. My Chinese chicken salad was pretty big for being a side . My wife enjoyed it but she couldn't say the same about the chicken. In all honesty, I would not bother to return to this establishment since there was nothing about the chicken to make me want to return. I would rather just go to El Pollo Loco since they have a distinct citrus flavor to their chicken. Another big turn off was the roasted potatoes, either the sage or thyme was way overboard. It drowned the taste of the potato. And lastly, I'm not sure if this restaurant is affiliated to the California Chicken in West LA, or Venice or in the Valley. I had not been to either of those 3 in about 10-15 years. But from what I recall, pitta bread was offered with the meal so the customer didn't have to grab the chicken with their hands to take a bite. Well, I would say if you want rotisserie chicken, you don't need to make a special trip to this location since it's no different than others possibly closer to your residence. Two stars for size portion of chicken and side salad. If it was just the chicken and roasted potatoes and physical location it would be one star. read more
