So yummy! Heard so many great things about the Calif Chicken Cafe so I was so happy that a location has made its way to the South Bay. I ordered the Ranch Wrap which just hit the spot! The veggies were fresh and crunchy and the chicken was cooked perfectly and tender. Loved the sauce that was in my wrap in addition to the ranch that came with it. Service was friendly and the vibe was casual. I enjoyed my food seated outdoors which was perfect on a summer night. I also enjoyed a side of potatoes- seasoning was light but very delicious. I've been a loyal fan of California Chicken Café for years -- we order almost weekly and have even catered events -- because I love their healthy, high-quality food. But my last visit was really disappointing. All the pickup spots were full, and with kids in the car, I couldn't easily park. No one answered the phone, and when I briefly pulled up and honked, staff waved me off and laughed. It would've been so easy for someone to quickly and safely ask what I needed. Then the order was wrong: our Double Chicken Salad didn't have double chicken, and the Melrose Wrap had the Chinese Chicken Salad dressing, which didn't pair well at all. When I called, the call center agent was hard to understand, defensive, and only offered a small refund -- which never came. I even submitted the issue online and never got a response. I usually love CCC for its healthy, high-quality food and consistency, but this was a miss on every single level. Don't be put off the boring-looking menu. It's all chicken and it is all delicious! Dark meat Rotisserie is fatty and juicy, perfectly roasted. The seasoning is just right, but you would be wise to dip it in the chipotle dressing. A side of Chinese Cabbage Salad is like a sweet coleslaw , a refreshing contrast to all the meat. The more I ate, the more I liked it. The Melrose Wrap is one of the most well-balanced wraps I've had. the chicken is very flavorful, the avocado is ripe, and the tangy Italian dressing perks it up a bit. Today was the last time I will ever be visiting this location. My husband is allergic to tomatoes. I specifically ordered Melrose Wrap with no tomatoes. When we arrived to pick up our order, we had to wait an additional 15 minutes for our chicken to be ready. After our 30 minute drive home, he opened his wrap & finds tomatoes inside. Not only did they put tomatoes inside the wrap, they actually gave him the ranch wrap lol. This is absurd. Do not recommend this location at all. Stay away. read more

I always order take out here. Wraps are always good and chicken is always tasty and juicy. However, ordering the rotisserie chicken has been a hit and miss. I've ordered the dark meat special, which supposedly includes 4 legs and 5 thighs. First time I ordered it, it only had 8 pieces with 4 small legs and 4 small thighs. I didn't complain, thinking it was a honest mistake. Ordered it for the second time, and it was complete with 4 legs and 5 thighs (decent size). Ordered it for the third time last night, it had 6 small legs, 2 thighs and neck portion with mostly bone on it and hardly any meat. You can tell that meat was carved from the bone. It seems like that the neck bone was deliberately thrown in the container to complete the 9 pieces. Disappointing for $19 price. read more

I've been eating at Cal Chicken since they opened years ago usually at the Venice location when you could still dine in. I've always written to and suggested to management in person that they need to increase the size of the chicken they serve. Disappointingly it is literally 50% smaller than KFC and other area chicken joints. KFC is much larger and always juicy and fresh. El Pollo Norteno is fire grilled but it's much larger and always moist and juicy. Golden Eagle is broasted with large pieces and it's cooked to order always hot and juicy. Today's chicken was small AND not at all juicy or moist. It was dry! Our order was missing utensils and one side order! I can't keep dining until they increase the size of the chicken and learn how to not overcook it. read more

Happy they're in the South Bay! Very disappointed in our first visit. My sister and I placed our order at the same time with different staff. We waited around 10 min when a handful of people showed up to place their orders. I received my order, and all those ppl that got there after did too while my sister waited 10+ more minutes for her small order. No sense of order! Obviously while we waited 15-20 min (not the 10 min they said), I observed most of the staff being young adults, one with ripped gloves prepping the salads, touching his nose over and over, lady at the end of row prepping what seemed to be wraps sneezes in FRONT OF PREPPING TABLE not even looking away. Order: was a hot mess either you're still practicing how to wrap but the wrap fell apart. I said NO Italian , to my luck they including an Italian sauce that was not properly sealed that made a big mess! My mash potato not properly sealed, potato all over the bag! Meh :/ The vegan and veggie wraps are pretty bland and the dressing is meh - chinese dressing vs italian dressing. Next time I'll ask for or add jalapeños or banana peppers or something a little tangy. Also the bread portion was soggy. Perhaps it's still new & they are working out some things BUT my Chinese Chicken Salad was seriously lacking- to say the least. Less than half the container was full, there was not even enough lettuce to finish the salad without eating the toppings solo! My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place accidentally, as were were headed to Panera Bread next door. We looked at the menu, and decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We each ordered a salad, I got the Out West and he got the Chinese Chicken. We also ordered a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, a side of rotisserie chicken, and a chocolate chip cookie. Everything was AMAZING. Big portions, super fresh produce, and fantastic variety of fresh ingredients in the salads. I love big fancy salads and this one for under $14 was probably the best salad I have ordered at any restaurant. Bonus: the chicken is shredded, not chunked, which in my opinion is WAY better. And they give you plenty of it! The BEST salads. The BEST chocolate chip cookies. The BEST mashed potatoes with gravy. And their rotisserie is right on par with Costco if not better. As for the service...we met Gabby out front who took our order, brought us our food, and took the time to make sure we were happy with everything. She was so sweet, so friendly, and her hospitality made our visit here just perfect. Gabby, if you are reading this, thank you for being so awesome! It is outdoor seating only, nothing fancy, but they do have heat lamps if needed. The way they package everything carefully and separately keeps everything fresh, so taking it to go is also a good option. We will be going back regularly! First time here. After a long drive from Vegas, checked in our hotel we look for a closest place to eat. Found this place on yelp wanting to eat salad. Got the Chinese chicken salad which was delicious and filling and the Melrose wrap was huge I could only eat half of it. Along with the meal came with a side mash potato on both orders. I really enjoyed the meal and I would love to stop there again one more time before we go back to Vegas. I recommend this place to my friends and family if you like chicken. The once fresh (almost pink colored) red salsa is now a fire roasted burgundy color salsa and tastes dramatically different!! Like not as fresh and it's a jarred taste. I got an out west salad and I was enjoying it until I found a small fly in the salad. It wasn't a fruit fly or any type of bug that would be relevant to salad or fresh fruit. Essentially wraps and salads. The great thing about the wraps is that you will get a well portioned and fresh wrap. The salads are a nice size and very fresh. Dressings are great. Holding out hope that they add a garlic aioli sauce. I've been to another of their locations. El Segundo location is exceptional and preferred. The employees are kind, friendly, and work hard to get orders out quickly. I have been offered and poured a cup of water while I wait. Twice, yes twice, I was given a extra pieces of chicken. Apparently, they serve fresh only, so a little extra may end up in your bag if they have too much on hand. There is not any inside seating. There is some outside seating.
