I ordered fish taco, a crispy, shredded beef taco, and a crispy potato taco. I was into the fish taco the most. It was stacked full of ingredients, quite hefty/filling. This place has lots to offer on the menu, and certain days of the week special meal deals are available.The good thing about the restaurant, is that it's open 24 hours. Their burritos are HUUUUUGE!!!! And it cost $12. I ordered a bacon breakfast one and ate half and ended up giving the rest to my husband for work the next morning. I didn't notice very much bacon in it but would definitely like to go back and try more things. I have been trying to give them a chance over and over with the tacos. I'm unclear on why getting a order right is so hard! I ordered 3 chicken tacos no onions or cilantro,these are for a child and I ordered 4 chicken tacos add pico!! I got onions and cilantro on the tacos that weren't suppose to have them and no pico! On top of that all the meat was hella cold. I wouldn't recommend the enchilada plate, but the chicken super burrito is quite tasty. I usually don't do fast-food type of Mexican food but this is a convenient location for me sometimes. The drive through workers are always quite friendly and pleasant. If you're looking for a fast and filling meal I'd get the super burrito. Quite large. read more

The restaurant is one of the cleanest, Mexican restaurants that I have ever been to. They are not skimpy with their meat and everything is fairly priced. We had our lunch catered and had carne asada and chicken super burritos, along with churros for dessert. The carne asada (3/5) was definitely the winner of the two. Much more flavorful, while the chicken seemed like it was just boiled and shredded since it was flavorless and had that mushy texture (1.5/5). The churros were ok. In all fairness, they probably had been sitting around for at least an hour so it was room temp, not super crispy and all the custardy cream had absorbed into the churro. The Mr. & I joke that we live in bland land. We are surrounded by retirement communities, so finding a spot that isn't afraid to bring the heat is rare. Thinking they were mini tacos, he ordered 4. Not only were they not mini at all, they were overflowing with meat. Unable to conquer the container, he brought one home. I heated it up in my air fryer a couple of days later and I was impressed. The roasted pepper they place in the taco is for real. Like, get out a napkin because you'll be sweating soon. The chicken was cooked but still tender and had decent seasoning. I love all the limes they provide. The double corn shell was appreciated because the meat was desperately trying to burst out like an angry Hulk. Both salsas were tasty & the pico was fresh. My hubby comes here every morning to get a burrito before work and he always talks about how amazing they are. He usually gets the carne asada breakfast burrito and being a bigger guy, it hits the spot and he eats the whole thing. Letty, the lady who is there 6 days a week knows his order and is always very pleasant and friendly. After going there a few times she now knows his order and starts it as soon as he walks in. I went up to visit him when he was working and we went there for breakfast. I got a sausage and egg burrito and my hubby got a super burrito and it was HUGE!!! My burrito was so good. I barely made it halfway through! But it was so good I forced myself to get as far as I could! He loved the super burrito and actually only got halfway through his too. California has so many Mexican restaurants, the competition is fierce. Thankfully, people of all ethnicities like this cuisine, so they all do pretty well. The problem is when you eat at a VERY good taqueria, the rest may be good but they're a letdown compared to that top-notch taqueria. Such is the case with California Burrito. This was my first time eating their food, so I can go by only what I experienced with their Super Nachos. After a hot four mile hike at Black Diamond, I needed *something*! And choosing between the big chain Del Taco and the local California Burrito, I'd rather go with the local choice. California Burrito is in a convenient location. You can see it from Highway 4, and it's near Somersville, which is the center of retail activity for Antioch. It has a drive-thru, so you don't even need to leave the car. And because most of the drive-thru traffic is likely at the In-n-Out, this line is probably going to be much shorter. Wide range of food to choose from. Many, many choices along with burritos. Kids menu. Prices look good, in the $6-10 range. I asked for Super Nachos. "And what meat would you like?" I looked for the list of meats available, and there were none. I asked for pastor, they do not offer it. I ended up with lengua, and asked for no guacamole nor sour cream. $14 later ($10.50 for the nachos), I drove off with a large Coke and even larger container of nachos. This entree, unlike other nachos that I or the Hunny have had, didn't have much on it. Just meat, refried beans, and cheese; also guac and sour cream, but I asked for neither of those. The meat was good, but it felt like the entree was overloaded with nachos. What would make it taste better, and raise this rating to four stars, is onions and homemade salsa; some would also want jalapeno peppers. This is enough for two meals, so adding these other ingredients would take it from good to great. I want to come here again. This time to try their burrito, see how big it is. I've put down some yuge ones in my life, and seeing how big this helping of nachos was, it's likely that they'll have a long, thick, meaty burrito. And also with the family; they're likely to find something they'll all love. California Burrito: not the best, not even the best in Antioch, but certainly not one to stay away from. read more

Lots of things have changed in Antioch since the last time I lived here but one thing that remains is the lack of open restaurants past 10PM. Ever since COVID the In N Out lines have been 45mins+ and I do not have that kind of time to wait when the HANGER hits. Luckily across the street there is CALIFORNIA BURRITO. Made the mistake by not opening up my container before leaving the drive-through because I would have quickly returned it and gotten my money back. The service is nice and the wait wasn't too bad in the drive-through but the food was horrible. I ordered the carne asada fries, the meat was just chunks of what looked and felt like steamed or boiled tasteless cubed beef and the fries were cold, like cafeteria lunch fries cold, all pasty and gritty! You'd get a better quality meal at Del Taco or Taco Bell. Yes, I'm comparing this place to the gringo franchises, that's how disappointed I am in the quality of slop they sold me at California Burrito. They gypped me for $12 and some change because I ended up just throwing it away after I got my destination to eat it.
