We had our electric garage door for almost 4 years. Recently, every time we closed it, it would start to close and then reopen, so we needed to get it repaired. There was a small tear at the top of the door, which we thought might be the problem. There was a sticker inside the garage door with the name of the company that installed it. I had them come out and check the door. The repairman stated it would cost $300 to replace the top panel of the door, or $90 to repair it. I decided to call 2 other companies for estimates; good thing. The second company said the tear was probably caused because the installer wound the springs too tightly. It's funny that the installer never mentioned the springs being wound too tightly. This tension caused the top of the door to tear. It would cost $300 to replace the top panel of the garage door. The third company, Cal's Garage Doors, said the same thing, but the repairman took it a step further. He loosened the springs at no charge. It only took a couple minutes. Now the garage door closes. The tear will continue to get bigger, but at a slower rate. We will still need the top panel replaced eventually, but loosening the springs will prevent the door from tearing in the future. When we finally need the top panel replaced, we will call Cal's. This company is honest and won't rip us off! read more

In Aug of 2016, we had Cal's install a new garage door. We are extremely happy with the result. They did a great job Most importantly. They worked with us. What I needed was someone to work with me and my limited knowledge about electrical doors. I was very surprised to find that ALL the garage door businesses I called do not do the electrical hard-wireing. THEY ALL told me to find my own electrical contractor. Some even like home depot would not even install until they had been paid. Mr Thompson put us in contact with an electrician. He didn't blink when I had to do a reschedule at the last moment,. His technicians went above the call of duty when they helped move some cabinets. (Mr, Thompson explained to us that the garage had to have ten-eleven feet of unhindered clearance) Bottom line is: The job was top notch, and when things cost money, its nice to feel good because they were so great to work with. I had Cal's Garage Doors install my original door when I first bought my home about 9 years ago. It was a very economical and pleasant experience. In my remodel a couple of years ago, of course I chose Cal's again, and just like the first time, they had the best price and excellent service without a single glitch. Over the years as minor issues have cropped up, they have either helped me solve them over the phone at no charge, or they have come over and handled the issue promptly and efficiently, for a very reasonable fee. Had my tension spring break and my car is stuck in my garage with a door that would not open (even manually!). Called Cal's because Arrow Garage Doors (the ones who originally installed my door in 2005) is now part of Cal's. (The owner's son Justin says that Cal and Doug, who used to own and run Arrow, are buddies in the business.) Justin who took the call was incredibly helpful, answered my questions, and gave me an appointment the same day I called. Justin gave me very accurate info on the cost/estimate, time it would take, and how their company does the work. He sent me their awesome repair guy Keith, who came out and had it all fixed and running within an hour. Keith is super friendly, incredibly knowledgable, right on time, responsible with communications, hardworking and did a fantastic job. He clearly wants to get it done right and not just get it done fast. Keith is my NEW HERO! And, the price they charged me was really reasonable. Had a very unpleasant experience with these people today. Appointment was scheduled for BETWEEN 10am and noon. At 11:45 I called the office to find out when they would show up. "Dave" said you are on the schedule, but give me a minute and I will call you back. He called back a minute later and said that "Rico" was on his way and would be there in three minutes. Two minutes later, Rico calls and says he is at the gas station and will be there in 5 mintues. At 11:59 I placed a call back to the office and Dave again answered. I told him to call his driver and cancel. He started yelling at me, saying NO, You have a an appointment and we kept it. At that time there is a knock at the door. I told Dave I had to go and hung up. It was Rico at the door, and it is now 12:00noon. I told him I could not do this today. Dave calls back and leaves a threatening message that "we are going to bill you, because you can't just change your mind", so either call back and reschedule, or you'll get billed. I called him back and said that my appt was for BETWEEN 10:00am and NOON, NOT AT NOON. he said "you have to pay or I will put a mechanics lien on your house". I told him scrw you and hung up. These people must have had lots of trouble if their first response is to get angry and threaten people. I am sure the battle is not over, but I would never recommend this company. read more

I got 2 quotes for a new garage door, we wanted to use the existing opener. Cal's was more expensive, not by much. This was for a rental house that we manage. The person doing the quote was personable and seemed easy to work with. They wanted $200 to start, no problem. The door was installed and they wanted final payment. We paid it, as they were very persistent about getting paid, even before I could verify the installation. Somehow during the installation, the photo eyes stopped working. The installer said it would not be a big problem and that he just needed to order a connector. The opener work just fine before the installation. Now the office says that it will cost over $200 to fix the photo eyes. Where is the installer who made the commitment? The front office is not willing to work with anyone. I am kicking myself for making the full payment. We install a few doors a year and I will be moving our business to anyone else, but Cal's. read more

The torsion spring on my garage door broke. The door locked in the down position with one car imprisoned inside. I called another reputable garage door company that originally installed the door. They were coping with a personal disaster at the time, so they referred me to Cal's Garage Doors to step in and handle my dilemma. Cal's sent two technicians out an hour later, and after 40 minutes they had two new springs installed and all was back up and running. These were guys with a pleasant demeanor and in good humor. These guys were fantastic. I called and worked with Justin, and Sean. They came when they said they would (which was a time scheduled in advance that was convenient for me), diagnosed the issue and though it could not be fixed, they directed me to call the Liftmaster folks so they can ship me the replacement part needed for free, as the opener was still under warranty. The part arrived in a few days (as they said, and for free), and then they came to replace the damaged one with it. The service charge was very reasonable and they also found a broken hinge that I hadn't noticed, and fixed that also! Great service at reasonable rates, these guys stay in my contact list! read more

Saturday a.m., the day was booked with appointments, and ... the garage door opener didn't work and my car was stuck inside. Cody from Cal's Garage Doors to the rescue! He came right over just to open the door and release my car. He promised to send the technician over for the repair in the afternoon but in the meantime, I had wheels. A couple of hours later, the tech arrived, promptly fixed the problem (worn plastic teeth on a gear in the motor), and was on his way. I like to support local Campbell businesses and cannot recommend Cal's enough. Cody offered me 2 options: get a new gear ($150) or get a new motor ($400). The gear would last 10-15 years and that's all I really needed. Others might have tried to push a new motor on me - I wouldn't have been able to judge which fix would be best. Repair person from Cal's came out about 2 months ago (I don't recall his name). I wanted to wait to write this because I wasn't sure if the fix on the garaged door would last. I'm happy to say, that so far it has. He was courteous and on time which I also appreciated. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is that the repair guy wasn't familiar with their guaranty and I had to coax him into calling his boss to find out. In addition he wasn't as familiar with the two different sprocket sizes on the motor as I would have expected for someone in the business. read more

My garage door opener broke, and the first number I picked out of the phone book was Cal's. I never, ever just get one quote, but Dave explained all the options so patiently and the price was very reasonable that I went with them. They were able to come the next day, a Saturday, at no extra charge. The installer, Ricoh, was amazing. He was really friendly, extremely efficient, and left absolutely no mess whatsoever. He took a lot of time to show me all the features of the new opener, and even programmed the built-in remote in my wife's car (I didn't even think to ask--he offered himself). I had suspected the door itself had some problems and asked Ricoh before he began to have a look, which I thought would be an invitation for him to tell me I needed hundreds of dollars of additional work. I was stunned when he said not only did I not need any more work, but he adjusted the spring so it would run better..for free! Finally, he said he had a wireless remote in the car and set that up outside my garage, again for free. To me, five stars isn't enough for Cal's, and I would recommend them to anyone. read more
