The chef is Italian, the wait staff is Italian, and the food is as authentic Italian as I have seen outside of italy. Fantastic restaurant. Order at the front and get served. Very quaint on the water with a calm quiet. Service was fantastic and everyone was friendly. My Husband and I got the islander and Greek omelette, which were super thick, fluffy, and delicious. Even their potato side was sooo good. I'm really glad we found this place and we'll def be back. This is the only option in the Cays and we are lucky that the owner has made it work despite COVID-19. For a while she sold mostly small amounts of groceries; now she serves outdoor or takeout breakfast and lunch and, if you plan ahead and pick up early, a reasonable range of dinners to take out.The setting on a small harbor is delightful. The dinners we had included lasagne, lamb and chicken kabobs, and lamb shanks: all very good and we will keep ordering more. Lunch includes burgers, an array of sandwiches, wraps and salad:s: you cannot go wrong. Breakfast options are standards and all yummy. Service is warm and friendly; allow a bit of extra time if it's busy: you can browse the small but fascinating wine selection. We are grateful regulars who are extremely glad to support this plucky place. read more

Came here with my wife this morning. Had a simple breakfast and coffee. Lady up front which I will assume is the owner was nice and told us of the special she had for the morning. We declined and had other menu dishes instead. Portions were just right, and food was good. Couldn't help and buy the peanut butter frosted brownie that was on display...sweet tooth took over. Only reason I wouldn't rate it 5 stars was the coffee they had in the self serve decanters...it was awful. Maybe I got some hipster flavored joe, no idea! This place is awesome and we stopped here twice during our stay on Coronado. The owner is extremely friendly and she makes the best Greek omelet that I have ever had. She also recommended a winery for us to go to and gave us a business card with a contact to go to so that we could get some free wine. If I'm ever on Coronado again I will go there again for sure! read more

I eat here on a regular basis as do so many other residents of the Cays. Hanan is always cheerful and friendly, the food she serves is delicious and very reasonably priced, and the view and ambiance are bar none. BTW - Disregard Al R's reviews; he was pretty arrogant when they dined here: he wanted to jump to the front of the line because he was military (many, many of her customers are as well - lots os SEALS - and none EXPECT special treatment - very much the contrary.) Just to automatically - and incorrectly - derogate Hanan as being an "Arab" shows you what kind of a person he is. Come and enjoy! read more

I thought the food was average. It seemed to be a theme of under cooked items. I ordered a Greek omelette and the taste was there, just the onions inside were pretty raw. My mother ordered the meat lover or all meat omelette (can't remember which it is) and her bacon was disgustingly undercooked. My father requested rye toast when given a choice between rye and white and ended up with white anyways. My friends and I were attending a bachelorette in Imperial Beach, we decided to do brunch Saturday morning at Calypso Cafe. I called a week in advance for a reservation outside on the patio. Came here for a late breakfast/lunch. The big breakfast plate was amazing, had a side order of the large pancakes stack. My date had the Coronado sandwich and thought it was great. I will say that I was surprised by the size of the plates. I'm used too platters barely having enough food to be considered an appetizer, which is why I got the large stack of pancakes with my big breakfast. I was quite wrong and barely got halfway through my pancakes. The staff was very friendly and accommodating as it was our first time coming here. The location is incredible and we happened to go at a time when me missed the heavy crowd so had a great selection of seating outside. I definitely will be returning again to try the rest of the menu. read more

All-around excellent experience. I ate brunch here with my girlfriend last Sunday the 10th, and we were practically treated like royalty. IMPORTANT: When you type the address into iPhone maps, it dropped me off in a residential neighborhood down the street. I called their number and the owner answered. She was very friendly and guided me to the correct location. We arrived just 10 minutes before they were planning on closing (1pm), but that was not an issue. We each ordered the Big Breakfast I think it was called. Everything was delicious, especially the chocolate chip pancakes which she let us substitute for the regular ones without an extra charge. We sat outside on the patio near the harbor and it was so peaceful. The owner checked on us regularly, and we ended up talking to her for a while. She's awesome and so friendly. One of their cooks, I think Jose, even came out and asked us what we thought about the food. They are clearly doing everything possible to please their customers and give everyone an exceptional experience. Make sure to get the ham with your breakfast, it was amazing. I wish I lived closer to this place so I could come here more often, but I will definitely be coming back the next time I'm near Coronado. 5 stars all the way! read more

By far the best vanilla latte I have had to date. Both of the meals we ordered for breakfast were absolutely amazing. The owner was the nicest lady and she said they had their coffee beans sent in fresh from Atlanta! Highly recommend checking this place out and taking a seat on the patio.
