A perfect lunch spot if you work on the strand, a hidden gem. Was brought here by a work friend and was not disappointed! The small owned business was SO friendly and pleasant to interact with. They have daily specials and a good variety of food from sandwiches, salads and pasta. Unfortunately it was raining when we came however there is a nice view of the harbor. And you pay AFTER you eat at the counter, that really makes the atmosphere seem very chill. I enjoyed a Greek salmon salad, the salmon was perfectly cooked and seasoned and the taste and amount of dressing was on point. What a little gem of a place! Located within the Coronado Cays you can easily overlook this excellent eatery. Staff is friendly and ready with suggestions and tantalizing specials. Went here for breakfast and was amazed at the range and depth they have for such a small place. Ample seating inside or out on the back deck. They make cafe, espresso to order and wizards. Cold brews also available. Fresh Açaí bowls, cinnamon rolls and other goodies abound. I had their chicken ranchero special. Served on a sizzling plate it was chicken, peppers, onions and feta cheese. Topped with two perfectly over easy eggs. Side potatoes were heaven sent. Pita type bread for sopping was over the top. Lunch menu is full of tasty options with boars head deli meat sandwiches and hamburgers. So many options. Dog friendly outdoor seating! This is a great great place to enjoy a tranquil breakfast or lunch with superb food and coffee. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, the service provided to our group was so disappointing, not by the employees but I believe she was the owner. I had called few days ahead to make breakfast reservation for party of 5 but I understand it was not guarantee which was fine. When we arrived an hour early to the reservation, 10am instead of 11am, I was trying to be courtesy to let the cashier/owner know that we were early, she was just plain rude. She kept telling us they are busy, IT WAS NOT. My friends were able to find us a table as I placed food order. I ordered enough food for us to share, immediately the cashier/owner wants to charge us $2.50/plastic utensils and $1.50 for a cup of hot water. Ridiculous!! I get it, prices went up on everything but to make us feel like we're different from your other customers. That's plain wrong. I gave a 1 stars for their wonderful employees, location, and food was not bad but to recommend to this restaurant to anyone, I'm not. read more

This cafe is a mix of made to order food and grab n go drinks (including coffee and alcohol) and snacks (like upscale convenience store). With a name like Calypso Café I was expecting more variety in their selection though. But we were satisfied with our orders. Everything was fresh and tasty. Ok...this is a must place for breakfast. If you're in the area and are looking for a great breakfast come here. It's not going to be busy like the Hotel Del Coronado area. The best Eggs Benedict for a semi late breakfast. They only use premium meats and their menu will make it hard for you to decide what you want. We ate outside overlooking the harbor. I had high hopes for this being a nearby deli to walk to for the month. Went the second day while staying in the Cays and ordered the highly recommended fish and chips and a lemonade. Four of us came here for a quick lunch, and we all enjoyed our sandwiches. Beer is available by the bottle, which we enjoyed on the small patio. For our 29 wedding anniversary, my wife and I decided to vacation in Coronado, California. During our 3-day vacation, we stumbled upon this quaint little restaurant. We were super impressed with the owner Hanan who couldn't have been more pleasant, warm and welcoming. Because it was in the morning we ordered breakfast. I ordered eggs w/gyros and potatoes. My wife ordered their Calypso breakfast which included the standard two eggs, sausage, potatoes and toast. Both our meals arrived hot and perfectly prepared as ordered. We noted that both our meals were perfectly seasoned and very tasty. We also were blown away by the beautiful setting of the outside seating. The views overlooking the Coronado Cays canal was priceless. When you combine the wonderful spirit of Hanan with the well prepared meal and setting, we can't help but give Calypso Cafe a "5-star" review. read more
