Very cute cafe with interesting menu items. Cozy interior with an outdoor patio too. Everyone in my group enjoyed their foot but mine was best - the sweet and salty French toast. Excellent!

As a huge Once Upon A Time fan, I made my husband drive us up here when we traveled to Seattle. We loved our food, although the service was a bit slow for not very many customers being there.

This place has a beautiful outdoor seating area. Inside seating is spacious unlike other cafes in the neighbourhood. The greeter attended to us immediately. Server was attentive but I think she wasn't in a very good mood that day, a nice smile would not hurt. Food is good but no surprise, IG presentation, cost is Steveston price, Latte could be slightly warmer. It's a good place for a weekend brunch date.

This is still my favourite brunch place. I absolutely love the cute charming decor, the food presentation and just the overall ambiance of being in a cute little upscale diner. The portion sizes are perfect for me. Only thing I will say is I find their rose tea latte a bit diluted. I've ordered it a couple times and seems to be a consistent thing.

Beware! They charge to pay with a card and are not worth what they are charging! Their food is not well balanced. You can tell that they are just trying to follow a recipe with no intent or understanding of the taste or what they are putting together. I ordered the Sweet and Salty which is a French toast with a poached egg and bacon pieces. The bacon came in strips just laid on top, they gave very little syrup and the hollandaise sauce on the poached egg lacked flavor and was slightly sour. The strangest and sorry to say, disgusting part was they took a bunch of greens and topped the entire thing and proceeds to take powdered sugar to the greens making them sticky and sweet. That was absolutely disgusting. I tried one leaf and it was the grossest thing I ever ate in my life. The French toast was ok but nothing to write home about. The other dish that was ordered was a pulled pork eggs Benedict. The pulled pork was bland and just sweet with a cheap store bought bbq sauce but also very bland. The worst part is they are not cheap and no manager was present. When I asked if I could have a specific table (place was empty when I arrived and empty when I left) they said no because it's "reserved" Stay away! Horrible experience, hopefully somebody who knows how to run a cute restaurant will save this place! This foreign owners don't understand and are peddling trash!! Don't eat here!!

There was no chance that, during our weekend visit to Steveston, we weren't going to dine here at some point. As the filming location for "Granny's Cafe" in one of my wife's favorite shows, "Once Upon a Time", it was unavoidable. Thankfully, not only do they serve a mean (if somewhat unusual) brunch, but the interior décor acknowledges and proudly displays its association with the series, which makes die-hards like my wife eminently happy! Our visit was on a Monday morning, and it was almost completely packed inside, so I can imagine it's even crazier on the weekends. There's plenty of patio space out front and along the side, but my wife wanted the experience of actually being inside "Granny's", and luckily enough, we were seated directly underneath a small portrait gallery of characters from the show, much to her delight! I had no trouble locking on to my entrée of choice: the breakfast paella. My wife struggled a bit more, eventually settling on the rosti, with smoked salmon. My paella was straight-forward, and delicous: savory, herby, tomato-y, sausage-y, egg-y...all the good things that end in "y". I was completely satisfied! On the other side of the table, I witnessed my wife's puzzlement as she tucked into her order, initially a bit flabbergasted by the combination of flavor profiles: the sweet, almost French toast flavor of the rosti (with powdered sugar), mingled with the potency of the smoked salmon, the subtle smoothness of the cream cheese, and the sourness of the Hollandaise, was unlike anything she had ever tasted before. Not unpleasant, just...different. Difficult to define. Halfway through, she declared that she liked it, while still acknowledging its unconventional nature. She said she probably wouldn't order it again, yet still enjoyed the experience of it. A few other oddities presented themselves throughout our visit: our meals arrived before the cocktails (a Caesar and an Espresso Martini, respectfully), with the former being a little too weak, or diluted, for my personal taste; no complaints whatsoever about the martini. Our server(s), who seemed to flit about and service all tables interchangeably with one another, were all competent and efficient, even with one of them slightly more aloof than the rest. The interior décor is cute, but similarly a bit disjointed, being a mix of classic bistro up front, and Asian-inspired café (complete with maneki neko) at the back, near the kitchen. Overall, the Cannery Cafe managed to achieve the storyb(r)ook trifecta of serving excellent (and somewhat arcane) fare, in an enchanting atmosphere, and sprinkled with a dash of fairy dust nostalgia, for good measure. It's hard to write a better ending to a story than that!

The house has so much character it drew me in immediately along with a rose tea latte. Went to enjoy the sunny spring Sunday in Stevenson. It was so nice. We ordered brunch to share as ordered the eggs benny with grilled shrimp and fried chicken and waffles with poached eggs. Both were pretty good. I could not stop eating the roasted potatoes that accompanied the Benny and also enjoyed the plain spring salad that accompanied the fried chicken, balance so I convinced myself as I indulged in the fried chicken. I ordered the rose tea latte and it was very pretty but was not what I expected in taste, perhaps it was the 3% milk as it was heavier than I would have preferred but to be fair, lattes have more milk. The service was good, and it was a great afternoon to spend in Steveston.

Always our must go in this area for brunch, great hang out spot, pretty chill on the patio during summer with the right amount of sunshine

It was perfect weather to eat out before the cold season, we went for an early stroll in Steveston, and yep, this famous restaurant caught my eye. This place is such a gem; the interior is beautiful from the outside alone, sadly I didn't have the chance to peek inside. The outdoor seating feels so relaxed; the server is welcoming and has been a tremendous help with the menus. For this visit, we had: Beef Stew + Sourdough ($18.99) - the stew is in the sourdough, which is such a perfect combination; the beef is so tender and flavoursome; this comes with a side of yogurt and sunny side egg. Breakfast Paella with chicken ($24.98)- it was our first time tasting paella; it was filling, tasty and satisfying. The chicken was so crispy, tender and savoury. Again it comes with homemade yogurt and toast bread. Chicken wings ($15.99) - it was so good we had half, half for the flavour, half spicy, half salt and pepper; both flavours were solid and palatable. Rose Tea Latte ($3.95) - I love this; the smell, the taste, the looks, and the smoothness is just perfect. Brewed Cafe ($3.50) -mild and delicious Overall, the place is pleasing, food presentation is overwhelming, some of their menus seem pricy, but some are just right, attentive servers, and of course, food is delicious.

Came here as a group of two at around 10.30 AM on weekdays, we were quickly seated indoor as the outdoor patio was pretty packed. From first glance, the café decoration seems cute, heard this place was set for a number of movies. I ordered mimosa to start with, and chicken and waffles for main. Presentation was nice, and I did not expect to get poached egg on my chicken and waffle order, so that was a pleasant surprise. Poached egg was a very overdone by 2-3 min; yolk was solid, this is something that you would notice just by touching it lightly, surprised they didn't notice when they were plating it. They skimped on the amount of the hollandaise sauce, and did not have much flavour (forgot the lemon juice and salt??). Waffle is a bit too dense for my liking, it's not fluffy at all. Chicken was cooked perfectly, it was tender with the right amount of crispiness. Server was friendly, and they kept our water filled most of the time (sometimes they are a bit too busy).

This place can get busy so come early! This cafe is so cute and the servers were also really nice. There is more street parking than I thought in the area. They have a lot of brunch options and I went with a paella. I particularly enjoyed the foaccia bread. It was a good amount of food. I ended up taking out about half the dish and saved it for an afternoon snack.

If you've ever watched Once Upon A Time, then you will know that this quaint restaurant is known as Granny's Cafe in the show! We stopped by here for brunch and although they do not accept reservations on the weekend, we arrived around 12:45P and there was a table readily available. Every item we tried was indicated as their "Best Sellers" with this emoji; . Items we ordered to share; GRANNY'S CHOWDER There was a lot of clams in the chowder. Overall flavor was good and was served in a bread bowl. In my personal opinion, I feel like you lose portion amounts when a chowder is served in a bread bowl. Still good. BREAKFAST PAELLA This paella had Bavarian sausage, veggies, served with a sunny side up egg & a bed of fresh salad. The flavor was very tomato-y, something I'm not accustomed to when eating paella, so that was a bit new to me. The presentation was very nice, it was served on a wooden paddle and came with toasted bread & yogurt. Unsure if it was my fave dish. FRIED CHICKEN & WAFFLES This was probably my favorite dish! The chicken was well season and so juicy. Cooked to perfection. The dish is served on a soft waffle (a little sweet in my opinion), poached egg topped with fresh salad, hollandaise sauce & syrup. I asked for the sauces to be on the side (this is just a personal preference). ROSE TEA LATTE The drink was good, nothing extremely special, but presentation was very pretty! MIMOSA They only have one flavor, which is orange. I think this drink lacked alcohol, you could barely taste the alcohol. Presentation: Pretty Food: Overall it was decent and I would like to come back and try their other menu items. Service: Good Parking: If you're lucky you may get a spot nearby. But in general, Steveston is just a busy area. Reservations: Yes, but not on weekends.

May be it's because we are all in "food coma" by the end of dinner! This visit was for dinner - and we were outside the door waiting even before they opened at 5:30. On a Tuesday. And we were already second in line. Celebrating a birthday, we had cold jellyfish starter, lobster fried e-fu mein, braised pomelo skin with seafood, and beef fried kai lan. The lobster was perfectly cooked. Even slight over-cooking can make the lobster meat tough. However, every piece was perfectly cooked. Including the large claws. Cooked with ginger and scallions, the lobster gravy coated each strand of e-fu noodles to umami yumminess. The braised pomelo skin was a special seasonal dish. I have not had this dish in many decades, and when I saw this in the special seasonal menu, I had to get it. The bittersweet braised pomelo skin complemented perfectly the fresh seafood, and topped a bed of Chinese spinach. It was the first time for the other members of my family and they literally sucked it all down. The beef with kai lan was another standout. Beef slices were tender and delicious and that perfectly complemented the well seared gai lan - great evidence of wok hei. Service is exemplary. Not just for a Chinese restaurant, but for any restaurant. The servers are constantly on the alert, and Everytime they see a plate filled with lobster shells, they would whip it away and replace it with a clean plate. They made sure that tea cups were filled and kept us updated with the delivery of the next dish. And at the end of the meal, dessert (Tong Shui) was complimentary... and they added a wonderfully light and flaky walnut cookie and piece of mochi for each of us.

She said it was so good! Hei Hei Rice Roll is located at the Richmond Public Market, oh wow - this place is really popular, on the 2nd visit I was the first in line then the line wasn't so long but while waiting for our order, the line got super long. I was lucky I didn't wait long in line. Best to arrive early. I am not sure what the secret to the rice roll but Wow, it's so thin, silky, smooth texture with the toppings, so great together. The last 2 times we had rice roll with my daughter at Portland and Seattle- followed per Instagram reels- those did not even compare to these rolls. My first visit I got the combo which is the best deals, starts at $15.50 but depends on what you select for the selection for rice rolls and congee. I got the pork & preserved egg congee, shrimp, mushroom, pork rice roll. The 2nd visit I got the combo again, with liver & preserved egg congee, scallop and shrimp rice rolls, but I got my order wrong for the roll- they missed the shrimp. fyi-I found out that bean sprout, corn, toppings are free! Both combo came out to $17. super cheap! Cash only, they take USD but its the same dollar $ value. I wish they take credit cards, hehe. & the Verdict: Yummy, the congee hits the spot for comfort food, loved how it is cooked and they add peanuts too. Love the packet of sauce for the rice rolls, the umami-ness, so good. Best to eat it hot and fresh! Don't forget to ask for chili sauce, to add that extra spicy kick! For now, I am not sure I'll ever find a spot that is closest to Hei Hei for my congee and rice roll fix until I get to visit Richmond, BC again.

We ordered a variety of dishes to share and most of them arrived promptly. However, I felt a bit disappointed as most of the dishes seemed to be less flavourful than other places I've been to. The fried tofu wasn't seasoned very much and the congee didn't even have any green onion garnish or pepper/salt given on the side. The bean curd dish was weak as the bean curd on the outside seemed to be overcooked or not wrapped as tightly so it was peeling off in the dish (no pic as it arrived late to the table!).
