We had such a great experience here! We stopped in unexpectedly for an early dinner. It's such a cute restaurant, with all the brick and the romantic vibes. So me and my 2 year old date enjoyed the ambiance and settled down to look at the menu. We were informed by our our server (Angie) that it was happy hour. She engaged my little one every chance she had, asking him about his colors and numbers. He loved her and she definitely went above the call of duty. We ordered a lot, the beet salad, the meatballs and the margherita pizza. Everything was fantastic, but I must say, the meatballs really stood out the most. The sauce was on point (spoken from an Italian who is accustomed to authentic, homemade meatballs) and the meatballs were THE BOMB! Ordered take out from here for the first time and was not overly impressed. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates and they burned the bacon. Terrible bitter taste and the red sauce they serve them in was just odd. Ordered the minestrone and it tasted like Campbells vegetable soup. Way too much oregano, not enough veggies, and no noodles. We also ordered two pizzas. The Margherita pizza had hardly any fresh mozzarella. There was about 5 nickel sized slices on the entire pizza. Taste was bland. Had a pasta entree with side salad. Blue cheese dressing was a little on the watery side, but okay. My pasta, and my dining partner's, were both beyond reproach. Light and fluffy gnocchi in a creamy tomato sauce with fresh crisp peas: perfection. She had a penne with Italian sausage and herbs. We both left with enough leftovers for another meal. I am not a big wine person but tried the red, aged on whiskey barrel, and it was so good I ordered two bottles from my local liquor store. I found this place on Groupon, been back at least twice a week for Happy Hour specials like half price appetizers and salads. $5.00 pizza (from a wood burning oven)! Drink specials every day and all you can eat Spaghetti and Meatballs for $12.00 (Killer Meatballs by the way). Great outdoor seating weather permitting. We got the zucchini appetizer- it was cold and the breading used didn't stick. Dinner is not served with any type of bread which is weird for an Italian place, but whatever. Gnocchi was watered down in their 'pesto sauce', fettuccine Alfredo was thick and pasty, pasta and peas had some sort of burnt bacon/pancetta in there - I'm all for crispy, but this was burnt. The only dish that got eaten was the penne and that's b/c the person that ordered that always clean a plate regardless of what's on it. Our server was less than stellar...pasta dinners came and never offered to bring cheese??? Save your money and spare yourself the disappointment- Magginos has better Italian food. read more

I ordered Medium, for the cjef to run a 12oz NY strip, at least clean the steak properly and not have an inch of grizzle on that is not chewable! Use a catchy Italian name and add Pizzeria at the end of it and your done, right? Not really, the makings of a good pizzeria is much harder than just having a wood fire oven. Canta Napoli Pizzeria, it's neopolitan style pizza for those who don't really know what neopolitan style pizza should taste like. It all starts with the crust. It simply wasn't the right texture. There was too much dough that resembled a pan pizza rather than the thin and chewy crust that is expected in neopolitan style. Granted that we are in Chicago and thin crust may not always be the pizza of choice so maybe a happy medium was decided. If this was their intention, then they are doing a great job. On the plus side, the prices were reasonable and we found a groupon that knocked off $30 so the meal hardly cost anything. We were able to try three different pizzas for only $10 plus tip. If you are able to find a groupon for Canta Napoli, then it would be worth trying. Here are some suggestions for management: * Work on the crust to resemble a true neopolitan style pizza * Cross train the staff: for small operations, each staff member (i.e. hostess, wait staff, manager) should be able to assist one another * Don't use button mushrooms. Michael was very communicative throughout the process, including the space, meal & alcohol packages, tables & linens, time frame, etc. He was very professional and relaxed, which was helpful. This review is for takeout during Covid. I ordered the Penne con Salsiccia with a side salad. I walked backed to my apartment with my meal. When I opened it up it was too hot to eat! That never happens with take out. The bread was fresh, they included Parmesan and olive oil. Salad was fresh with my side of dressing. Large enough portion that I immediately divided in two and had a meal for two nights. When we arrived the hostess greeted us and seated us quickly. The restaurant was full of people having a good time and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Then we sat down and things started to change. I noticed that there was one waiter for one side of the restaurant. The restaurant was filled to capacity however, there was one waiter. The waiter greeted us and was eager to take our order. We told him we're going to need a few minutes to decide on what we would like to drink and eat. Once I said that he didn't return for quite some time. When he did return he brought us the tiniest pieces of bread while we waited. I've never seen a restaurant give a piece of bread per person normally bread is a large piece cut into smaller pieces not three pieces for three people. We ordered drinks and our meal. We waited for our drinks, after the second fill up our water I asked the waiter if we could have our drinks and he looked at me as if I asked an odd question. I also asked him for an extra set of silverware and I had to ask him again. Our meal included soup normally when you order soup it arrives pretty quickly. The waiter returned with our drink and I asked him once again do we get soup and he said yes. After that time we didn't see him for a very long time then our meal arrived about 35 minutes later. I have to add that we didn't order any meat we ordered items that do not normally take that long. The food was very good but unfortunately when you're waiting that long and your beyond hungry anything tastes good. Some recommendations for your location one being additional servers, have your servers be more attentive to your customers, if the hostess is not busy she can walk around and ask people if they need anything. This restaurant offers happy hour between the hours of three and six. I recommend arriving earlier or after 7:30 pm when the restaurant begins emptying. Restaurants need to understand that their servers represent the restaurant and if your customer doesn't have a superb experience they will not return. read more

I recently threw a surprise party for my mom at Canta Napoli. Everything about this party was 10/10, from the minute I contacted Mike (the owner) about hosting a party until the last guest left. Mike was very accommodating along the way, available for questions and willing to make modifications to the menu. The drinks and food were delicious, many of my guests commented on how great the food was. Everything come out in a timely fashion and every table received their food at the same time all of the dishes were hot and cooked perfectly. We had Stelios as our main server and he was outstanding. He managed to serve 40 people drinks and food without skipping a beat. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant for a party. The prices were great and the food was even better! read more

Came here for lunch before work and was blown away by the incredible pizza and salad that I ordered. I chose the Foraggio pizza and Burrata salad, and oh my goodness they were both delicious! Very fresh, and SO flavorful. Service was also quick and quite friendly. Definitely put a smile on my face knowing I had some leftovers for later at work! As a side note: the place looked really clean and the outdoor seating area was nicely shaded from the hot summer sun. I can't wait to come back to try more from the menu! read more

Very surprised by these negative reviews, but perhaps our group got the "Gold Star" treatment because we had the restaurant to ourselves for a private party (Baptism). Ate here yesterday, and we thought all the food and service was AWESOME! We had an antipasto tray with prosciutto and two cheeses, fried calamari, MARGHERITA PIZZA, salad, two types of pasta, veal with potatoes and veggies, and finally, cake. All the food was very good, except the pasta was overcooked, which was an unexpected disappointment. The standout was the pizza, baked in a wood oven. We thought it was excellent, not really sure where you could get better Margherita pizza in the local area. Aside from the excellent food (in our experience, at least) there is also a pleasant outdoor seating area. We'll be sure to come back to eat some pizza alfresco this summer. read more

They have half price appetizers until 6 during the week, various other specials and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming! The owner and staff are so kind and friendly. Everyone here is so accommodating, just tell them what you want and they will create something for you. The menu has tons of great options but if you want to change things up just say the word. I came here for a birthday celebration and because our family wanted to try something different. Our table was ready for us when we walked in and the interior was very cute with lights strung up on the walls and wine bottles everywhere. We got started with two bottles of chianti and everyone had comments about how good it was. Also, if you know me at all, you know I love bread, and their bread was awesome! They have complimentary warm, fresh loaves of italian bread, olive oil, and parmesan on the table-I'm not even embarrassed to say our family housed down two of them within 10 minutes. There were lots of things on the menu that looked great, but I ended up going with the chicken marsala. The brown marsala wine sauce was terrific with mushrooms and spaghetti to go with the chicken. The chicken was a little too thick for my liking (I prefer the thinner pieces of chicken for this kind of dish) but it was still very good. The meal also came with a salad, which was very fresh and yummy too. Considering pretty much everyone in our party joined the clean plate club this night, I'd say it was a success! read more

Went here for a girls night out. While the server and staff were extremely nice, it took half an hour to get drinks. It took well over an hour for our food to arrive. The food was pretty good but doesn't make up for the service. I believe they were extremely understaffed. There didn't seem to be a bartender and I saw no one in the management position to help what little staff there was expedite anything. It's sad- Mt . Prospect needs some good restaurants and this could be one of them, if they made some changes. read more

They should put a "last call" on their door with the time they stop serving. Strike two - tried again, waited 40 minutes for a table (we were a group of 8, so expected to wait). Our meals came out in stages. Took friends there for the first time, it was a disaster. Strike three - Put in an order for pick up. Have a coupon that expires in 2023. They won't accept it. We've been wanting to try Canta Napoli for quite some time and finally went there tonight. We dined early about 5pm on a Saturday. We walked in and right away I told myself, this might not be as great as you hoped. There was a disassembled table by the door you had to step around to around to get in, several cardboard boxes from wine near the pizza making area on the floor. The hostess greeted us with a "where would you like to sit?" We said "where ever" as there were only 3 other tables occupied in the restaurant. Our waitress came over after a couple minutes and introduced herself and offered to get us some bread and took our drink order. We ordered a bottle of wine and the toasted ravioli appetizer. The ravioli were ok, there was some sort of white sauce on them that had an overwhelming garlic flavor. The portion on the ravioli was good, I think there was about 8. They seem to be homemade which is a nice touch. Sadly though I didn't find them better than a frozen store bought version. I ordered the penne con salsiccia and my boyfriend had the chicken parm. I thought my penne dish had good flavor. My only complaint was it's a huge portion of pasta with I'm assuming one sausage link, so a little off balance. The chicken parm (I know that isn't the name on the menu, I can't recall it) was a huge piece of chicken with spaghetti. The sauce was ok, chicken ok, both lacked a bit of flavor. Our favorite item of the night was the wine, which unfortunately they had no contribution to. Overall the service is good. They are attentive and quick. The food lacked a bit of flavor, our appetizer and soups were definitely warm and not hot. The entrees however were quite hot. I'm glad we tried it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good meal either. We went with our great friend to Canta for dinner on a beautiful Friday summer night. The hostess who greeted was was very friendly and accommodating. We went to the bar as we were early for our reservation and the young lady behind the bar made us a very tasty martini. (Didn't get her name server #2153) Then our waitress was excellent. Friendly, funny and attentive to all our needs! (Again I dont remember her name, my bad. Server#20). The owners wife came over and checked on us. I had Shrimp Diablo and it was excellent. My buddy had a dish with sausage and peppers that was not on the menu but they made it specially for him. It was outstanding. The ladies had pasta dishes that were all very tasty. We just moved in to an apartment downtown and thought we'd try this restaurant. We were seated right away but it took about 15-20 minutes to take our drink order. Seems like they might be under staffed. We ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and for dinner- the fettuccine alfredo, the gnocchi and the breaded pork roll.
