My favorite buffet restaurant. I've been coming here for 10 years, although I haven't been local in the last 5 years I still make the 40 minute commute sometimes. Their honey chicken is to die for. They brought the deep fried bananas back and although they're different now, I love how they taste and they're prepared healthier. I bring everyone I know here. I had to keep checking all of the previous great reviews to make sure it was the same place I went to. This place is horrible! Bland, soggy or overcooked. Anything breaded that was in a sauce was slimy (general tso's and orange chicken). The fish on the sushi pieces were discolored and far from fresh. The non-fried spring rolls were only rice noodles and lettuce. The only halfway decent dish was the honey chicken, but overall there was more flavor in the orange jello than anything else I had. read more

I agree with other reviews that the food here is watered down. General Tso's was inedible, the teriyaki chicken was cold as ice. Sushi was sitting right next to fresh fruit, could taste the fish on the orange slices. They give free water when you sit down, however it is not filtered and tastes horrible. I have a picky eater, she didn't eat anything but fries and we were charged for her "plates" as well. The soft serve ice cream was a disappointment, was runny and watered down. We wound up throwing it away before we even got in the car. Will NOT be returning. read more

The initial question is what do you expect when from a seven dollar lunch buffet. I don't go here because the food is delicious but it is good, I go because I want to eat until I am disgustingly full. This place has been around for at least 10 years. The first time I stepped inside and realized it was a Chinese buffet, not hungry for dog, I turned around and walked out. Now I do like Chinese. I've eaten in China Town SF and 100's of others and feel that it's all about the same. One day going by, I noticed all the cars which are always there and since I was hungry and they have a cocktail sign....I went in. The buffet was big, like 2 counters with different food on both sides. I did a quick fly by and it occurred to me, that it was like they took the biggest Chinese menu and cooked everything on it and with all the customers, they had to keep it all fresh and full. Did I mention they have cocktails and beer ( you can't get that at Panda Express). I should mention some food specifics. They have shrimp dishes, they have crab, they have BBQ pork. All you can eat BBQ pork are they crazy! Salt and pepper squid,tasty. Now I took my dad here. He's a lover of Chinese( the food too), sorry dad and mom. He loved it. When he is in town, we go. This place is clean and fairly cheap. I think it's like 10.00 a person. If you don't need the little screened off tables, you should give it a try. read more

Best Chinese buffet in Vancouver, and of almost all I can remember. Favorites are the egg foo yung, General Tso's chicken, egg flower soup, and lo mein. A good offering. We picked this place because the parking lot is always stuffed full of cars! We figured a place this busy must be good. We were so wrong! Greasy, mushy, salty, bland, dry, soggy. Those are the words to describe this place! How can something be under seasoned and salty at the same time? How can something be soggy on the inside and totally dried out on the outside? It must be an art form! To solve the mystery of the cars, I think the waitstaff and kitchen staff park out front. It gets 2 stars for good waitstaff who were accommodating and kept our water glasses full. Was one of my favorite semi decent Chinese buffets until today. The food was ok and average. The lady at the register in the red shirt today and the lady in the purple were making fun of me and my friend --as they were rude and gossiped not knowing that I fully understand every single word they said (they probably thought I only spoke a few words ---haha were they so wrong talk about drama) the service was not that great today by any means; the lady in purple picking up the dishes gave me bad attitude when I nicely asked for another pair of gloves to get more food she gave me a dirty look and said you have to reuse the same disposable ones (yeah that's very sanitary especially during this pandemic sheesh) I said, "oh ok thank you well mine were ripped." Then having to nicely keep asking for more napkins, a straw, chopsticks and water more than once just to get them for the first time when they weren't busy but kept forgetting... Next, while paying they both continued to gossip rudely about me and my friend, " they complained about me asking for new clean gloves for the buffet and childish rude things that aren't worth putting on here like far shaming like that is ok to do. So after that bad experience we paid ---the lady in red has the audacity to complain and in a rude way ask for a tip after and during her and the lady in purple were running their mouths in their native tongue again... both of them truly dumb and not realizing that I understood every single word they said and gossiped about." Not even earning a tip and then talking badly about us mocking us and then you give us both this look (like a deer in headlights just "clueless AF!") and complaining and going on about not getting a tip--hmm it's pretty clear you shouldn't be working in a restaurant establishment and have zero communication skills and clearly didn't deserve a tip--that was beyond clear as day. Hence, truly one of the worst eating experiences ever-- talk about the let down and feeling so uncomfortable! Definitely never going there again unless they get new staff. Hint: more people know mandarin and Cantonese than you think so grow up and don't gossip about and to both your customers faces like you did at 1:00 pm today (Wednesday, May 12, 2021) thinking you're covered and ok. Total let down and for the over 35 mile drive there just one way and for all that to happen... Truly disgusted, completely disappointed. Hmmm, I never come to a place in vancouver expecting the ritz. It is vancouver after all lol. That being said, the food was hot and for a fast paced buffet fairly good. I have a three becuase the Grab legs couldn't stay in stock, our water never got refilled and the floors dirty. They kept up on cleaning the tables although I didnt smell any sort of cleaner when they cleaned the table next to me. Back to the food....the orange chicken tastes like orange chicken and the egg foo young very good, same with the razor clams. So if yoi want a Saturday night fast paced buffet I would eat here again...and if you feel any tummy problems its the MSG in the food not the food itself. read more

I would like to have seen/found more options for sauces, and found myself creating my own from the sweet & sour spare ribs (which were yummy)! The place is always packed as they were voted the best Canton restaurant in the area. Huge write up in the Columbian newspaper which made them super duper busy. I was looking forward to a nice Chinese Buffet with my husband, but was disappointed. After filling my plate up with an assortment of dishes, I began with the Egg Flower Soup. I noticed the people filling the buffet line didn't have any hairnets on, the floor was not clean, and I was now eating the Orange Chicken or Fried Rice and there was a hair in my food! This took my appetite away immediately. I love this place! I've been here more than 30 times since they've been open. I only like a few things on their buffet line. I'm VERY picky. But the things I like are made so fresh and yummy. They are very friendly and very clean. I would suggest coming during popular meal hours, when the restaurant is packed. I had quit going for a couple years as the quality of the food just wasn't the same as when I started coming here. Thought I'd give them a try again and see if things got any better. This was about a month ago and forgot to update my review. The hot and sour soup used to be so good but not anymore. The entrees were okay, but the clincher making this my last stop ever was the fact that they took the bar-b-que pork away. That was pretty much my main reason for ever coming here as it used to be excellent. So, with another price hike and the removal or quality of my favorite items on the downslide it's time to say adios. read more

My daughter and I have been going to this buffet for years!!! We love the food, the girls are right there to clear away your used dishes, and the food is rotated and stocked very well. They have an even proportion of fried AND grilled entrees, and the fried entrees are NOT deeply or overly battered. Used to be my favorite, but since I got ripped off for $100 by one of the bus girls I refuse to go back. I had just gotten paid a $100 bill from my client for some web work and put it in my front pocket (stupid me) that fell on the floor under my table. This bus girl comes over and starts cleaning around my table and reaches under my table to clean while I was eating. At first I though very unusual. I love this restaurant this is one of the most cleanest restaurants there is in town, the customer service is wonderful the food is always hot and fresh. A long time family favorite, canton buffet never disappoints. A wide variety of asian flavors, canton buffet is a home for the Ling Ling in all of us. My only complaint is their over priced fountain drinks and their blue drink cups they've held onto since I sprang from my mothers loins. I have eaten here on many occasions. Depending on the time of day, it can be tasty, to very lukewarm tasteless buffet. On two occasions, when me and my family walked in a half hour before the dinner rates, we were informed before seating us took place that we would be paying DINNER prices, even though it was not near the dinner hour. I think in retrospect, I should have walked out right then and there as it happened twice. I didn't want to cause a scene with my family members so just absorbed the dinner pricing. But the food wasn't changed to fresh dinner food, which was the burn in our case. The staff on many occasions are aluft and sometimes rude, I could not say they are too friendly---so customer service with employees are below standards in my opinion. I have stopped eating at this establishment when more often than not the food was on the buffet displays too long and for the cost was not worth the mediocre food. Wow. I'm not quite sure what to say here, the waitress and cashier were pleasant. The staff seemed diligent about maintaining and cleaning the buffet area. Food was being replenished regularly. That's the star. People here on yelp seem to like this place and I just don't know how it's possible. The food was the worst American-Chinese buffet I've ever had. Everything that should be crispy was not, everything that should be tender was not, and vice versa. It was almost bizarro-world I suspected some of this stuff was plastic. I'm sort of a foodie but not a snob - I have a soft spot for egg foo young but this was like a hockey puck, I actually could not cut through it with my fork. The soup was flavorless but very salty - and horridly stood up on the spoon in a jellied blob. I gave up on chewing the squid after 20 seconds because I was afraid of losing a veneer. We gave up entirely within 15 minutes and went home, made a much more satisfying peanut butter sandwich. read more

Canton is nothing extremely special, but the food is good and you can have numerous dishes (which is good if you are dining alone or with one other person). Do not expect ambience! Given the extreme lack of other decent Chinese places in Vancouver I tend to come here. There are lots of things that I don't eat because they are deep-fried or don't suit my tastes, but the six or eight dishes that I choose from I like pretty well. There are a variety of chicken, beef and pork dishes, and some with shrimp and salmon. Noodles, two kinds of fried rice, and two soups (hot and sour and egg drop). I love the BBQ pork-- There is a large tray of it. Tea comes with the meal, but you need to ask for it. You can also get food to go, but you pay for it by the ounce (it always ends up being more expensive this way!) My only question is how much MSG is used. I always seem to have a huge thirst after eating here (which I don't do often, because I always end up over eating). read more
