We were a table of 12, and they added a BYOB fee that we didn't pay the last time we came. And it was not advertised anywhere, not even in the menu. They said it was at the entrance but we checked and it wasn't. We called the manager and he tried to explain to us that since they brought plastic glasses we had to pay that fee. Then after long conversation where he insisted, he eventually agreed to remove the additional fee and they said that since we finished later (more than 2hrs, even if it is just because they served us late) they should have made us pay an additional 100 usd per hour, but since they were "kind" they didn't charge us. read more

It comes with bulbous grilled green onions and grilled jalapeños! The restaurant is quite bustling and loud and the tables are crowded and always full, I love the lively atmosphere but when there's music playing you have to shout a tad. It works for me because all I do is scream and stuff my face full of food. I lived in chicago 10 years ago, and my family loved going to El Nuevo Leon, it seems the placed got burned down some years ago , but the sons of the owners decided to open up this restaurant at the same location and the same concept. It seems this is a very popular spot, we went there on a monday night and it was full. Ambiance 10/10: This is as close as you can get to an authentic mexican restaurant environment in the U.S. Music was enjoyable and it was at a volume where you can listen it to it, but at the same time you dont have trouble talking. Cocktails/food: 9/10 Everything was incredible, we ordered the sabinas tacos and they were one of the best tacos ive tried. The only reason i did not gave it 10/10 is because i would expect from a mexican place like this to jave the tortillas freshly made there and they were not (but they were good). Came here last night with my parents to celebrate. Very busy for a thursday afternoon, so knew it must be good! We were seated quickly. The chips and salsa came out pretty fresh, one of the green ones was my favorite, but a bit watery. The guac was fresh, but we ended up adding some salsa and lime to the guac to enhance the flavor. BEWARE IF YOU ARE VEGETARIAN!!! Hardly any vegetarian options, my dad and I got the chicken fajitas and my mom got the vegetarian fajita. The chicken fajitas were good! The beans and rice were nicely seasoned, the tortillas were warm and fresh (I liked corn better), and the chicken was cooked well. We did not try the steak, but many other people had ordered that as well. The vegetarian fajitas were average per my mom. Ambiance- it was pretty loud and very busy! I've been coming to Canton Regio for years. While living on 18th and Ashland, I would smell all the grilled delights when their patio was open on a warm summer's day. The interior is festive and chic, with warm colors and excellent quality. All of their grilled items are amazing, and I would most definitely recommend their skewers. Cantón Regio is perfect for groups, and most of their dishes are family-style. This is one of the few spots where I would get food to go and it's still good. My favorite item on the menu is their Ribeye. It's always seasoned well and juicy. The Ribeye is served with rice, beans, onions, a scorching Jalapeño pepper, and your choice of Flour or corn tortillas, which makes a fantastic combination of flavors if you decide to make yourself a taco. If I had a hard work day and didn't feel like cooking, I would treat myself to A Ribeye from Canton Regio. I have always been greeted by pleasant and attentive wait staff. I can't recall ever having to wait for a seat despite their popularity, and the main reason I always go back to this place is their consistency. I will note they are cash only, but they have an ATM on site, which charges a small fee. So if you are in the Pilsen area and want an excellent Ribeye steak with a Mexican twist, I recommend Cantón Regio. Based on my overall experience with them, five stars read more

We have been going to this place since they opened. Food is good, service too, however the last few times we have been there, the bill hasn't been adding up to the menu prices. First time it happened, I brought it up to the waiter and he was very surprised he took the handwritten receipt back to the cashier and after a while brought the correct change. Second time I went with two friends, bill was wrong again but since I was the only one who seemed to notice, I didn't bring it up. Last time I only went because my daughter was craving their flour tortillas. I told her let's watch the bill! Sure enough, bill was higher than expected. ***COVID Review*** Takeout This was the second to last stop on my personally curated walking food tour with bae. It was honestly the most disappointing in terms of safety and precautions. The staff wore masks, but only a few folks had on gloves. The space felt cramped and claustrophobic with the amount and guests and staff; there were just too many people inside for my comfort. And they only take cash which is an issue for me beyond cleanliness. Thank goodness we were getting our tacos to-go. We ordered one of each option. Its a steakhouse so of course we got carne asada. The first were supposed to be street style with onion and cilantro but didn't come with either, but the carne asada tasted fine. The second (pictured), came with cheese, onion, and peppers on what looked like housemade flour tortillas. I didn't try them because my bf ended up taking them home, but he said, and I quote, they were lit!
