My new go to spot for my hot drink. Went on a Wednesday afternoon and was greeted at the door by someone wearing a Capital One shirt. I decided on a Bowl of Soul with earl grey though the seasonal options were tempting. It's been awhile since I've had a Bowl of Soul. I think the last time was in Santa Cruz at Verve Coffee or Lulu Carpenters back in the day. The barista that day was on point. My first sip and every sip afterwards truly felt like a hug in a cup. I felt my spirits lift and it was unexpected. The perfect combination in a cup. Thank you to the barista for my unexpected joy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While waiting, I did have a chance to look around. There are multiple tables on both levels for people to work at. I think it was completely full but people were also in and out. I decided to take advantage when there was a deal for a free drink every Monday during baseball season, but I felt really bad for the baristas, who seemed understandably stressed out. Around 4:50pm the day I went, they were out of almost every syrup, so I ultimately ordered the caramel latte. I thought the drink was decent as you can taste the coffee, but it's not too unpleasantly bitter. It's a little sweet, but also almost sour, not sure if that's just how the Verve Coffee tastes. My sister and I were in SF for the week and this was our first stop in the City. There was a line of ~5 people waiting to place their order and a crowd of ~10 people waiting for their drinks when we arrived. There are more Capital One bankers (I counted at least 5 standing around) waiting to speak with potential clients than there are baristas. There was just 1 lady working the register and 1 gentleman making drinks when we visited. I'm sure they get overwhelmed on Mondays due to the promotion so bring your patience accordingly. The Capital One Cafe is the perfect café/workspace hiding in plain sight. Good Wi-Fi and a number of places to set up your laptop and get some work done. Also, there are meeting rooms to use for that quick place to hash things out with a couple of other people. The café serves up a good number of drink favorites, both hot and iced. I like the iced Caramel Latte with plenty of ice. It's prepared hot so it needs a ton of ice to cool it down. For something piping hot, I like the Hibiscus Bergamot Bowl of Soul and the Vanilla Rose Latte. Most of the time, there is a very short wait in line, and my order is picked up in a minute or two. On the rare occasion that there is a long line, it still goes faster than anticipated because they crank out drinks at a pretty good pace. read more
