Phrases like "best I've ever had" and "the best pizza ever" get thrown around a lot with reckless abandon. While being cautious not to overdo the hyperbole, I can say that I have dined all over the country, and I'm absolutely shocked that possibly the best pizza I have ever had is in a tiny shop in the middle of Tech Terrace in Lubbock, TX. Capital Pizza really is that good. What I remember most about capital pizza is the crust. It has a unbelievable soft, fresh baked, and almost sweet taste to it. Truly unique, and combined with all the excellent ingredients used here, it really sends the pizza over the top into the "unbelievable tasting experience" stratosphere. The cheese bread appetizer is the highlight of the meal for me, and in my opinion you're missing out on the full experience if you decide against this. "Cheese pizza" would be a more accurate description than cheese bread or cheese sticks, but I'm not going to argue semantics when it tastes that good. The place is tiny, so if the patio isn't open it can get a little crowded. The ambiance is a cozy neighborhood pub, and the staff has always been friendly on my visits. If you're starving, the length of time for the pizza to come out can sometimes test your patience, which is just another reason to get the cheese bread appetizer. read more

Capitol pizza oh what to say. I thought I would support local businesses during these times but some owners do not deserve patronage. I visited over two months ago and my order was not placed correctly. I have some food restrictions, due to my health, and was told that next time they would take care of my order. Well, I'm back visiting my family from out of town and I really like their food, gluten free option, but was basically told I was a liar by the owner Grey/ Gray as I explained what happened more than once. I called at 10:25pm to place an order for pick up and I was told the kitchen closed at 10pm. I told him that the website stated they served food until 11pm, the employee said that's only on the weekends. However, yelp, google, AND your website all state you close at 12am and kitchen closes at 11pm. read more

Came here for dinner, it is out of this world, as always! Immediately greeted by welcoming servers who took our drink orders as we were seated. Ordered cheese bread for an appetizer, which is almost (almost) a meal in it self. Five of us shared a Capital Carnivore Pizza, which was exactly the right size. The quality of the food, service, and atmosphere at this location is incredible. The management staff from the 82nd and Slide location should spend some time here to learn how things can be done. read more

We had a huge final exam that night so a couple of friends and I went out to eat after and we found this place (thanks YELP ). We ordered the Cheese Breads and Thai Curry Chicken Pizza. The Cheese Breads w/homemade marinara sauce was awesome. We were already starting to get full in just the appetizers! The Pizza was ok, only because we didn't expect it to be really sweet but the spiciness was there. The place really had a good vibe except for the server. BEST pizza in town. It is usually very crowded (never a bad thing) and it is seat yourself so when a table opens up you have to jump on it. Service is good but sometimes it takes awhile to get your food (if it is crowded) but this pizza is worth the wait! Our go to pizzas are the buffalo chicken pizza and margarita. Both are AMAZING! I love Capital Pizza! Been going here since it first opened. All of their food is delicious, but my absolute favorite is their Thai curry chicken basil pizza. It's amazing! They really do use quality ingredients. They also have an impressive bar with plenty to choose from. Their staff is always great, I usually am served by Miranda, V, or Zack - very nice people that are excellent at their jobs. The cooks definitely are too, the two I can think of are Dylan and Javan. Ever since I started going to Tech in 2015 Capital Pizza has been a staple. It continues to be a staple even during my time in graduate school. The pizza is probably one of if not the best pizza I've ever had. I took my parents here during a college visit and now my mom will drive 5 hours to see me only if I agree we will eat here. The pizza comes out hot and is easy to share. The staff is always friendly and helpful and they have a great selection of adult beverages. If you like a very thick, soft-crusted Colorado style pie with super fresh ingredients and a great selection of bottled beer, you cannot go wrong with Capital Pizza. First time trying this place after I had heard it was pretty good. It's open seating so you just sit down and a waiter was right to our service.
