Purchasing the car was great - great sales team; but the service department is the WORST! You can't get a hold of anyone - they either hang up or will not return your calls. The first service I had there shortly after purchasing my car, they had replaced my transmission with the incorrect part - this service was six weeks long and they used the wrong part - I had to take it back for them to correct their error - more time without a car. Having a similar issue all over again, and guess what - still can't get a hold of anyone. Tried calling morning, afternoon, evening, and even online via Live Chat - for TWO days - still no response. They hang up or will not reply to voicemail. Anytime I have to take my car in for service at Capitol Chevrolet - mostly for recalls - I feel sick to my stomach for the travesty that is about to occur each and every time. Went to look at new trucks today because I found one on their website that was really nice for mid 50's. When I get there they tell me it's $76k. I look at their offer and deny it and leave. Double check the website to be sure it was the correct truck and it was. Text my salesperson and sent him a picture of the online price and he tells me that the cost is before the upgrades. Well the picture shows the upgrades... Tires, Wheels, and suspension kit. Just thought I'd share my experience. I'm usually not the kind of person to do this, but this time it feels worth it. I've been shopping at many dealerships in many cities for the past month since I unfortunately totalled my truck. Since Monday, I'd been speaking to one of the sales guys at Capitol, mostly through text (so I have proof of most of this, if anyone cares) about a specific truck that is in transit and ready to arrive Dec 1. We've gone back and forth, and we eventually settled on a price that was reduced from the sticker, with a bed liner thrown in on top of it. This salesman also knew that I was speaking to other dealerships and had my eye on a specific truck at another dealership. I was not playing them against each other; I was just telling him the truth and what my situation was. I've already walked away from another deal and that's ok. I have no problem doing so. So after tons of back and forth, on Wednesday we agreed on a deal, and he said he would call me today, Friday, at noon (obv skipping Thanksgiving). Around that time, he said "I'm gonna do your invoice and sent to you in a few minutes". I said "ok, sounds good". 4 hours later, I ask if everything is OK and he says he's been busy. Cool, I'm fine with that. Then he says another hour and a half later "I need to work on the Colorado till December 1st in case rebates change next month", followed by "Hopefully no one else will buy it". My response: "Uhh, what? I was under the impression the truck was mine and I just need to sign paperwork or put a deposit down". Im already wary, but now I'm worried. This is where it gets shady. So he calls me and backtracks and says we're all good, and tries to get my credit card number to put down the deposit. I told him if he emails me the invoice and it looks good, I'll be glad to put down my deposit. He finally emails me and there's an extra $2495 in dealership add-ons. Im not even mad about the add-ons, even though it's expensive frivolous bullshit. I'm mad about the dishonesty. This guy legit tried to get my money without showing me paperwork. So he asks if I got his email. I tell him "I did, but there's a problem. The dealer-added accessories weren't on the website or the window sticker. That's not going to work for me. If that's the case, I'm going to have to say no. Also, less importantly, I have a Costco membership for that 1,000 discount" (which is an incentive that he knew about beforehand. His only response to this is "I can wheel locks and tint only for $1200 And Costco also but no bedliner". No talking about how that's not what we agreed upon. No apology about never mentioning those fees in 4 days. No mention about trying to get my money without telling me. I decide not to respond to his message, bypassed him and called his manager. I was polite, because again, I'm not an asshole. We spoke for 20 minutes and I reiterated that I understand that they have to make money and I'm not pissed at him (the manager), but made it very clear that this wasn't a "miscommunication", it was downright shady. I'd been talking to this guy for days and he knew I skipped another deal for this. He tells me the best he can do is give me the price I was offered originally but with the Costco discount already added. So basically 1k over what I was told. I might have even taken it if the sales guy had been honest with me, but I added this whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I'd be passing on the deal. Insult to injury? After that phone call with the manager, the original sales guy emails me a simple "Deal or No Deal". That's it. Just be HONEST with me and I'd have actually bought your damn truck. It's not like i haggled like crazy. I asked one time, he -claims- he spoke to his manager, and I agreed. On a positive note, this is the first bad experience I've had with a dealership since I started shopping this time. Just thought you should know, because that's shady and dishonest. read more

I set a specific time and date and when I showed up I was shuffled off to a floor salesman who spent an hour with me trying to find the vehicle. He never did find the vehicle and I ended up leaving. Took my son there to find a decent used car. Good selection on the lot, but mostly way out of his price range (he's a college student). Was very clear with the Sales Rep about our budget. We looked at some prospects in a satellite lot, and made note of a few. Back at the office, I kept asking the associate for a general estimate of WHAT the car cost that we were focusing on, but he pretended to need his Boss's input, etc., which I sensed was BS. Meanwhile, my son looked up a similar car online, and it was twice as much as we were willing to spend. I pressed the associate for a price, again, but he was giving me the runaround. when I got my car back after 13 days, later in the day I came to a stop and my car revved up to 3rpm. I had my foot on the brake and it was like I was fighting the car with my foot on the brake. I am guessing u went to GM asking for a new transmission and GM turned u down because nothing happened because nothing happened when u went for a drive. next time it happens I will video it and send your way. I got the gold package with my car when I purchased the vehicle Now it's 7 months later I can't get an appointment to schedule the car for an oil change, I need my transmission oil changed and I have window washer fluid leaking from my ceiling and I can't find a single person to help me get an appointment much less just take me seriously on the phone. Iv talked to maria in the service department multiple times and 2 out of the numerous times she's laughed and hung up, I don't find this very professional. To top this all off my key fob for the car has stopped working and the car detects the fob when wanted so I have to call a lock smith to unlock my car so I can try to get to work. I had a horrible experience with this store if I'm being 100% honest. From lying about the prices to not telling me the truth just to get me to drive back to the store. I tried to express my concern with starting school and having my old car break down but they kept pushing the things I didn't want and need like a brand new car for a college student living on my own. Being hung up or transferring to someone that wasn't there and straight to voicemail just for them to tell me 7hrs later "oh the people you were looking for, yeah they are gone for the day". so let me start by saying i had an excellent experience purchasing my vehicle but that's where the good stops, A couple days after i by the buy the vehicle while I'm driving it loses power and refuses to speed up. So I called my sales associate and tell them what happened. He tells me have it towed to the dealership and they will take care of it. This happened on 02/13/2025 three days later on Monday i call to check the status I'm told its in line to be diagnosed makes sense a couple days later i get a call saying the transmission is shot, i inform the service agent that i purchased the extended warranty . He tells me ok and a couple days later i call to check the status on it and I'm told that the claim was denied and that i will have to pay out of pocket. I tell him ok i have to come down and talk to the sales manager as when i talked to him i was told anything major the will be able to cancel the purchase and get me something else. I get there and attempt to talk to the GM of the dealership Mr. Garcia and surprise surprise I'm blown off and sent to talk to the used car manager so i talk the a different one and I'm told they can not cancel the sale but he will talk to the service manager about a good price to repair it. While I'm waiting to get my items out of my vehicle, i run in to the sales manager he tells me that he was told the claim was denied. So while I'm in my vehicle i grab my warranty info. When i call the warranty company i found out from the agent that a claim was never place. when i call the service agent I'm simply told they have seen claims like this before and they are always refused. I Insist that the claim is put in and a few days later I'm told by the warranty company that it is waiting for an approval and they have to submit a second invoice on rebuild vs replace of the transmission to find which is more cost effective. It takes 3 days for the invoice to be approve. During this time my calls are being screened by my service agent how do i know this well he pushed the wrong button on the phone and answered instead of sending me to voicemail. After 5 weeks i get the call with him saying well we had a meeting about your call yesterday and your vehicle was one of the topics and we called the warranty company has approved the repair. I tell him that i could of told him that cause i had talked and confirmed the warranty was approved the transmission would be replaced. I'm then told that the transmission will be there Monday and the repair will be done Tuesday/Wednesday . Tuesday i call to get an update and get told the transmission isn't in yet and its looking like end of week. I finally get my vehicle back 1 day shy of 6 weeks to complete 4 hours of labor. I don't care if my car catches on fire in front of their dealership i will push it somewhere else. read more

Loved my truck buying experience here. I went through their inventory online and found the vehicle that I wanted and scheduled an appointment for a test drive. They showed me around and we looked at a few similar trucks but I decided to go with the one that I saw online. Stephen was great and made sure that I knew all about OnStar and all the things about my new truck such as the MyChevrolet App. He followed up to ensure that I still love my truck. The only issue I had, actually happened a few times for the same installment, was I added a bedcover and dropped the truck off to find out they ordered the wrong one, then one came in broke, then picked up my truck (they gave me a truck to borrow while they had my truck) and took it back again to be assumed it was all ready to be installed and would be done by noon to have to wait another day. Been in and out of there, they hold your car forever. Last time I they were recommending to replace my WHOLE ENGINE which could cost around 5k. Funny how it was actually just a throttle issue that I replaced myself for under $120. Though they held my vehicle multiple times for several weeks. I don't know maybe they are terrible at trouble shooting and their technicians may just need better training. But I would never accuse them of lying or anything like that. I mean how could I they have my car and I'm not there I have to trust them right? I mean I would hope that have the customers best interest in mind right? I'm sure they aren't just trying to maximise profits right? It was interesting how I was sent a video of some weird "marbling sound" that my engine has NEVER made before. When I picked my car up it was in "drivable condition" I actually had to get it towed with my own truck because I could not take that risk, my car barely wanted to move. The "marbling sound" I never heard and it never ever came up again. I regret ignoring all of the negative reviews on here. But hey all I can do is tell people my experience. Take the risk and learn the hard way. Personally i regret not investing into buying a top notch computer to plug into my car, should've done this so much earlier. And wouldn't have had to rent cars with my own money to work my own job that would not even cover the rental car. Read your owners manual ESPECIALLY if you don't have multiple cars or such a large source of income where you don't have to stress about getting a rental car or just shelling out $5k and having no car for several weeks. read more

Buying a car here was a good experience. However, this review isn't for the purchase experience -- this is for service. I made an appointment to do a minor fix for the wiper fluid motor for my Chevy Bolt (which is little more than a year old), went to go drop off my car. Upon pulling up early in the morning, I spoke with a service advisor who told me that despite making an appointment, that it would be at least 3-4 days to even look at the car and that no loaners were available, and that I should ask the staff to reserve a loaner when I make an appointment. Obviously, this was a little frustrating, because I had made an appointment, and was told when I made the appointment that there is no holding of loaner cars. The service advisor was apologetic and mentioned that he would take down my number and once a loaner came in, I would get a call to drop off my car that day. Well, it's been over two weeks now -- and I still haven't gotten a call. And when I call back to make a service appointment and ask if they would hold a loaner, I got practically yelled at in return. Capitol is super responsive when trying to sell the car but getting service for a seemingly in warranty fix feels like pulling teeth. read more

They were eager to assist us and were very polite. We expressed the desire to run the numbers on a specific vehicle, and the price we were unwilling to surpass. At first it seemed okay, but then more and more Capital Chevy employees became involved in the sale... Trying to tell us to get a different vehicle, offering other options & again we openly (and firmly) expressed what we came for and asked them to focus on OUR NEEDS. They say- fine... they come back AGAIN trying to tell me about how this feature we requested is unnecessary, and we should consider this *other* model. After this happening twice, and again... we left and took our business down to another dealership. They were able to get us exactly what Capital Chevy was denying was possible, and unwilling to give us. I STRONGLY recommend another dealership. read more

Capitol Chevrolet killed my car battery after a week of holding my car. I called to make an appointment on 8/30 to have my 2016 Buick serviced- I had it looked at by carmax, and after running a diagnostic, they recommend I bring my car to an authorized dealership because it needed a new ignition coil. I called to make an appointment on 8/30, and was told they couldn't see me until 9/8. We're in the middle of a pandemic, so I get that appointments are booking a while out, no big deal! I showed up to my 8am appointment on 9/8 and was shocked to see so many people blatantly disregarding the mask mandate. My service technician kept taking his mask off to talk to me...that felt a little weird but whatever. When asked what I thought was wrong with my car, I held up my carmax diagnostic, told them I needed a new ignition coil, and was talked to like I was stupid, probably because I am a woman, alone in a dealership, trying to get her car serviced. Cool! I reluctantly left my car to be serviced because it was the only option I had, and expected it to be done within two days- especially because I made my appointment over a week in advance...that was 8am on a Wednesday, I got radio silence until Friday, when I was told they STILL hadn't had time to even look at my car. On Saturday, I got a phone call telling me they needed to replace my ignition coil. I know. It was covered by my extended warranty, but the warranty company is closed on the weekend, so they can either have it done on Saturday and I could pay $700, or I could wait until Monday. I waited until Monday. I had to call Monday afternoon because I still hadn't heard from anyone. When they answered, they asked me if I had the number to my extended warranty company. Yes, but seriously??? Finally, they called me on Tuesday, almost a week after I dropped my car off, and two weeks after my initial car problems started, and told me it was ready to be picked up. As the technician was going over the cost of the repairs, he casually asked if I'd had problems with the car's battery before I dropped it off. I said no, and he said: "It acted a little weird while we were staring your car up, but we charged it up for you and it should be fine." It's not fine. My car died this morning before work, and I had to cancel an entire day of clients on my busiest day of the week. I had my husband call to rectify the battery situation, and Capitol Chevrolet took no responsibility. The only solution they offered was to bring my car back, run a $150 diagnostic, and purchase a new battery. So now I've spent almost three weeks without a car, missed an entire day's work, and have to sink another few hundred dollars into my car because of something that I didn't do. Do not give this place your business! There are so many better dealerships in Austin that actually care about you and your car, not milking you for every cent you earn. I'm so grossed out by this entire situation, and I'll definitely tell everyone I know to stay far away from this place. read more

UPDATE ON 2012 TAHOE Just keeps getting better and better the mechanic checked out the truck and needs another motor. They are able to put in a certified used motor for $5000. Capital Chevrolet could HAVE fixed this for us and the problem would have been resolved. But they are not interested in making this right. When we mentioned we may take them to court the 3rd Manager we spoke to said, "good luck we are a fortune 500 company owed by Warren Buffett and you will never win this case".
