UPDATE: (3yr old Used Car) Capitol Chevrolet upper management has gone the extra mile to help resolve our initial unpleasant buying experience. Kudos to upper management for making it right, and this is why A-OK / 3-stars. Can't say I'm a fan overall, but upper management has the right focus. Would I buy there again? Maybe--if they had the car I wanted, and no-one else did. Advice? Go in looking for a win-win. Ask about the 'we owe' sheet-- be sure anything you believe you agreed to is on it. Text your sales rep clearly with your expectations. If there's a problem, ask for manager's manager and be honest with your experience and what you were looking for. The sales person we had seems honest, but he also seemed so busy that he failed to take our concerns seriously throughout the process. Perhaps he was assuming our enthusiasm regarding the vehicle would overshadow the lack of resolution. 2-stars to the sales person (initially 5-stars), 1/2-star to his immediate manager (who had the gall to say, somewhat paraphrased "if it's not on the 'we owe' sheet, then we'd be happy to sell it to you"). When our issues were brought to the attention of Capitol Chevrolet's upper management, things began to get back on track. When it reached their customer service manager, she made it right on all accounts, and she is the reason why I'm flagging this as 3-stars "A-OK". I'm a fan of the upper management, but not the sales person, and definitely not the 1st-line manager. I am refraining from naming names, as I don't think the sales person is a bad guy-- but he needs to slow down and LISTEN to his customers rather than assume that all complaints from customers are equal. Wow do I ever regret my previous 5 star review. Just two weeks after purchasing my new Equinox and I can't get any help or support. The backup camera stays on when I shift into drive, the Bluetooth wont connect and when it does, it won't allow me to accept any calls. I turned it in on Tuesday to get fixed and all the service advisor has done is make excuses why they can't "duplicate" the problem, even tho it occurred right in front of the advisor! I have left messages that have not been returned. There is obviously no follow through once the car is sold. I truly believed when the new management bought it they had changed the way things are run, but clearly I was wrong. I will be telling everyone I know about this situation. A brand new vehicle should not have issues with less than 150 miles on it. I'm currently on hold with GM to file a formal complaint and see how I can get my vehicle fixed. I live south and prefer to do business close to home, but when I took my Silverado in last week to be worked on - it was the Air Bag recall, I was told 1) I needed an appointment (understood) and 2) that it would take 2-3 days!! I questioned her on that, but then said, I had not choice - book the appointment. I need my truck and I'm driving at risk of that airbag going off anytime. I then drove down one block and parked, called Henna Chevrolet and got a QUICK response, "no sir, it should take 1-2 hours at most." I told the Henna person to book it and thanked her for the honesty. When I told her my story, she said I was not the first customer who has complained about the "south location" saying it'd be 2-3 days. I drove to Henna, the air bag was literarily done within 45 minutes!!! Like every service department, they recommended a bunch of other stuff - I normally say no, but decided to reward Henna for their honesty and willing to be trustworthy and great customer service; so I agreed to do the coolant flush and transmission flush -- something I could have probable done cheaper at Lambs or even on my own - but again, I decided to reward the Henna folks. As for Capitol - this is not the first shady service call I've almost got involved with there. One time I was pressured into tipping the mechanic (cash!) because he did ME the favor of programming my tire pressure sensors. The service department has essentially driven me away from shopping there for new vehicles. With online shopping, it's so easy anyway - but trust me, I doubt I'll ever go back to Capitol again - too many lies, BS, shady deals down there. For the record - I tried looking for an email to email my complaint and I could not find one. I intend to report this shady practice to Chevy, the corporate office should audit those shady folks at Capitol, it's ruining their business! read more

After almost 2 hours, and talking to 4 sales guys and one manager, they still couldn't manage to show me the car ( first they couldn't find it, then it was being "serviced") they couldn't give me the price on another vette on the lot and seemed incapable of providing any semblance of customer service what-so-ever. As incredible as it sounds, I literally drove out of the lot, check in pocket, because they were completely uninterested in selling me a car. Thinking we got car for 21k ,they are pressurizing to sell extended warranty contracts, While I am on phone, refusing to buy extended warranty, when we were not buying , they offered 5 years100 ,miles warranty at $500. We got car with no paperwork , and we get call from finance department , they got our address wrong , so we both have to come and resign the documents So I told the finance guy that we are self-employed and we can come there early and I asked him what time they open he told me 9 AM so I told him be there at nine because we have to open App Store at 9:30 we go there we waited 45 minutes. No sign of the sales person they kept telling him five minutes so you left and told him that he can come to our shop to bring the papers or overnight they said no problem which half way when the finance guy calls or something so can you come back we refuse so they delayed the paperwork till Tuesday that was after the Labor Day they come in you like in a such a rush I said I'm going to make copies of all the paperwork because I want to see the paperwork! If I could give .5 stars I would, but the only reason I am even attempting to write a review is because of the one person (Barry in Service) who actually knows how to provide customer service. If you are reading this, do NOT buy a used or new vehicle from them. We bought a 2014 used Toyota Tacoma about a year ago. The truck is amazing, however, getting the most simple thing done, such as an oil change creates havoc where it wasn't before. Getting anyone to call you back isn't going to happen, and even when you show up at Capitol because you know you can't wait for them to return a call, they are so unorganized, you might as well just save the entire day to deal with them WHEN dealing with them at any capacity. They kept my car for 3 weeks: at first I thought some employee took my car for a joy ride and wrecked it, but that was not very charitable of me: in fact, they are just monumentally incompetent. I brought my car to the shop because of malfunctions with the touch screen, and have 2 small plastic trims replaced. They told me it would take 3-4 days because of the current pandemic. Sounds fair. 2 weeks after, they call me and say "we can't reproduce your problem, so tough luck"; I suppose that's why it's called a malfunction: strangely enough, you can't reproduce it at will. A week after, they call me to tell me they lost my key... But obviously I shouldn't worry because they would happily cut a new one immediately -- if the machine was actually working this day. Unsurprisingly, they hadn't even started working on the trims yet. Absolutely spectacular. Capitol Chevrolet: not even once. UPDATE: a day after I got it back I discovered the driver door handle cover was loose, it doesn't snap in anymore. Perhaps trying to open the door after they lost the key? They have not fixed my vehicle they have not contacted me about my vehicle I have left five messages for the manager to call me back and he has never called me. Yesterday, when I finally did get hold of my service person he told me that the tech said the problem with the vehicle which by the way is brand new is my fault. They had my vehicle for three weeks which I use every day for work so that they can tell me nothing and have fixed nothing. I cannot praise Capital Chevrolet's service department as much as it should be. 5+++ stars I was having issues with my convertible so I took it to another Chevy dealership while it was still under the factory warranty, the other dealership not only didn't fix one of the major issues but also created more issues. When I took it back to the original dealership they tried to fix it and were unable to and then told me I would have to bring it back at a later date. Frustrated as all hell, I took it up to Capitol Chevrolet explained all my frustrations and my concerns, Jason the service Tech and Barry the service manager were not only able to fix Everything properly but they also went above and beyond by calling and going to battle with GMC and got everything covered under the original factory warranty, even though it was just over the 36000 miles. (The original issues and the screw ups happened under the 36K mile mark) Highly recommend Capital Chevrolet and I have found a new service Department to handle my car. read more

We purchased a car for my 16 year old daughter's birthday. It sat for a month and a half until her birthday arrived. It got driven here and there in the meantime though. 2 days before her birthday is when the "fun" began. Car wouldn't start. Just about every light on the dash was on. Did some reading online and everything pointed to the battery. This car has an auxiliary battery as well and it's recommended to replace both at the same time. Did that and it seemed all good. Not quite! On several occasions my daughter has been stranded because it wouldn't start. It definitely has some sort of electrical issue. The AC also works intermittently. How many days in a row did we have over 100 degrees? Reached out to the GSM (Tyler) All we wanted to do was upgrade the warranty that we purchased so that any repairs could be covered. The warranty company told me this was possible but had to be done through the dealership. Ended up speaking to the finance director. (Janet) She sounded sympathetic that it was my kids car. That quickly dissipated as she became unresponsive. Sent a text to the GM of the dealership. No response or anything from him. Now mind you...I NEVER asked for anything free. I never got angry or upset. All I wanted was to upgrade our "bronze" warranty to something more useful. I will NEVER recommend anyone to Capitol Chevrolet. It's a shame that a dealership that has been in business for so long simply and absolutely fails at just doing what's right. read more

My wife and I started our search online like most people do and were waiting for the right car at the right price to show up. Luckily 2 showed up but one was located in New Braunfels and the other at Capitol Chevrolet. On paper, both vehicles were nearly identical except that Capitol had a higher price. Without going in, I was able to speak to Ernesto Acosta over the phone to see if Capitol would match the price. Capitol came back with a price that was still out of my range so I mentioned that I was retired military and was given a larger discount. While still a few hundred off our price, Mario Juarez, the Used Car Director, let us know that he wasn't going to let a few hundred dollars prevent the deal from happening. Even though it was late Saturday my wife and I made the trip to finalize the deal with Ernesto who was nothing but professional. There were no gimmicks and we weren't sold anything else. My wife and I waited in line to see the finance person but since it was getting so late, Shannon Eichorn, the Special Finance Director, took it upon herself to finish our paperwork. And the whole time it was pleasant dealing with her and we could tell she actually cared! Here's where things turned sour.... Once the car was brought to us after all the paperwork had been completed we noticed the smell of cigarette smoke. My wife was the only one to drive the vehicle and due to her allergies, didn't notice the previous owner was a smoker. She also asked our salesperson where the second key was and there wasn't one, even though the car had less that 6,000 miles on it. And finally, once home, I noticed the car had no gas. All the bad thoughts of dealerships started flowing through my mind and I felt that we had been gotten over on. But on Monday, everything was made right... So the following Monday I was put in touch with Jill Van Reenen, the Internet Director and Sonya Aldrich, the Customer Relations Manager. THEY. FIXED. EVERYTHING. I was given a loaner so the car could be worked on overnight. Another key was made. The gas tank was full. The smoke smell was removed. Like any business or transaction, there is always bound to be some type of issue due to communication or as in our deal, rushing things at the last minute. The question is how will a business react to this. Will they treat you poorly or go above and beyond to remedy the situation. Capitol Chevrolet chose to do the right thing by taking care of its customer. And some of you may be thinking that we purchased a used Corvette or tricked out 4X4 with all the bells and whistles. I have had a MISERABLE (although hopefully anecdotal) experience with Capital Chevrolet. I went in 8 months ago for a part that I found out was on backorder. I had to leave my car there while they worked on it but luckily they provide an uber within a certain range. Well they cancelled my uber mid-ride and I was dropped on the side of the street a couple miles from my home. I've been waiting over 8 months for this part and never received any information or returned calls when I would call for an update. I finally went in 2 weeks ago and found out I should have been given the part months ago but they never contacted me (they don't know why) despite other customers getting the same part. They ordered a part to be delivered within 7-10 days and promised to get me in same day it arrived. It's been 11 days and I still have not been given any information and when I call they either don't answer or can't get a hold of the advisor I have been working with or the parts department. They have always acted very friendly and personable but have never followed through with anything they have promised. read more

First time I went to Capitol Chevrolet I looked at a used car. I put a deposit on it so I would be the first one to look at it. They sold the car. Getting my deposit back was a real pain. My new car, bought used. I didn't buy the car from them. The car wouldn't start. Ammco worked on it and couldn't find the problem. So it was towed to Capitol Chevrolet. They got it fixed but now it ran rough. Only $175.00 To diagnosis the problem. I said no thanks. When I got the car back the glove box and some door moulding were in the back seat. There was a panel on the passenger side floor. Screws and clips in the cup holder. WHAT GREAT SERVICE. I AM A DISABLED VET AND CAN'T WORK ON IT MYSELF. Would give 0 stars, if able. My husband brought his 2020 Silverado in for a leaking rear window, covered by warranty on December 7. After receiving it back, my husband checked the leak and it was POURING into the backseat. Definitely not corrected. He also noticed hairline cracks on the rear tail-light roof cowl, window was missing his window decal, scratches in the tailgate, interior trim was no attached completely, & silicon on the outside of vehicle. He returned the truck for the rear window to be corrected only to pick it up in WORSE condition. This repair created MORE damage. More scratches and chips in the paint around the window and the cowl was damaged further. It was returned again and Capitol agreed to get it painted, the cowl replaced, scratches on fender fixed....But, we now have two chips on tailgate (new damage-service claimed "we had warranty so we could take care of it on our own"), still has scratches where it was supposedly painted, the antenna was not put back on at pick-up, new scratch on the passenger side door, park assist no longer working, the audio for the entire vehicle (Bluetooth, radio, turn signal, etc) is completely out, interior scratches on trim, broken clips under rear seat for headliner, and dirt on the headliner. My husband has requested to have management contact him (because no one is willing to connect him directly to management). Chantel G, customer experience manager, was supposed to contact him as of February 2nd (20 days ago!!) and still has NOT reached out. We have NO solution and NO ONE assisting in a resolution. What a horrible business model and ethic. Run, don't walk, away from the service department! They will only create more problems and WILL DAMAGE YOUR VEHICLE! read more

Wanted to sell my 2017 Corvette and after some negotiating got the price to 55k on Friday. Was also interested in ordering a new Corvette in three months as well. Told them I would sleep on the offer and be in touch. On Monday I returned to the dealer and had the title out and tags removed and ready to sign. Jose the used car sales manager stated that the used Corvette market collapsed over the weekend and that was a one time price offering suddenly. The "new price is 53", feeling disgusted and cheated I left and sold the car to another dealer for 55k. Worst car buying experience I have ever had. I bought a new 2017 Camaro and I have taken it in 5 times for transmission issues. At 7k miles it had a transmission replacement and a clutch assembly replacement. I have contact GM 9 times and have a ticket open to have them buy the car back. The dealership never returns my calls and when I get my car back from the service department it is always dirty. Last but not least, when they replaced the transmissions and I was getting in my car the check engine light was on and it turns out they didn't connect my air intake back up so there was nothing over the intake manifold! I mean really?! Please go some place else to buy a car. I have been a Chevy fan my whole life (4 out of my 5 cars were Chevy) but this experience has changed everything. Update: GM was extremely rude to me on the phone and said they would do no buy back but would just offer me 10% off a new car. (I can talk a dealership more than 10% off a new car) so that's what I did! Went to Toyota and brought a brand new truck with 13% off and got away from GM. I had a great experience buy my new Tahoe from the group at Capital chevy Indera from sales and John and Carlos in finance they made the process very smooth and effortless. I just picked my Tahke up today from service for a tire leak and they had difficulty locating my truck in the lot ,I had to wait 20 minutes which I though was pretty normal. But the service manager Berry decided to give e me an early Christmas gift for the wait and comped my floor mats . I was the best thing that happened to me in 2018 . After work was completed the Tech advised I owe $106.00. When I informed I've received past changes as their promised during signing she stated that management has changed that and things are different now. I scheduled a appointment for my service airbag warning on my 2015 cadillac. I was very specific about the needed repair when I confirmed the appointment. When I arrived the service advisor said " Oh, we don't do those kinds of repairs here, they are done at the other shop and they are 2 to 3 days out". Just lost a long time customer. Purchased two new vehicle just this past year. Bought a 2018 chevy Colorado ZR2. Was told about the free oil changes for life. All was great until I was informed on my last oil change that diesel is not included. This was never told to me at the time of the sale. All service had to say was it was the salesman's mistake and nothing they could do. If the truck was a 3/4 ton, I could understand, but it's a 4 cylinder diesel and used the same amount of oil as any car. Stay away. They don't honor their word. The sales dept. seems on point and very knowledgeable. However, the service turnaround time on minor items is abysmal. It's the only place I've been to where it can take three days to get a quote on 15 minutes worth of work. I'd probably come back if they offered a multi-way rental for an oil change. had an appointment to take our vehicle in 2021 Silverado Texas edition it was making a weird noise and they said that to take it in so they can have it diagnosed well here it is almost Friday and nothing has been done to our vehicle. they told me that it would take three the most was four days to have a diagnosed. No one has returned my Call, I left my vehicle with a woman by the name of Yvonne and still she has not returned any of my calls. I called again this afternoon. Some young man told me that our vehicle wasn't even there I said what the hell do you mean? my vehicle isn't there I dropped it off with Yvonne well I've called again, and my husband has called several times and no one has returned our calls and no one can give us an update on our vehicle. Definitely not coming back for a simple oil change again. If they don't have the staff to respect appointment time, don't overschedule customers if you know it's going to take forever to get everyone through. Going somewhere else instead starting today. We called to set up an appointment here and told the service advisor what was going on. The check engine light was on and the car was stalling a bit after fueling up-- and we had just had the oil changed somewhere else. They tell us we can drop it off and they'll check it out, never once mentioning they have an hour labor minimum. When we arrive, there's no clear direction on where to check in. They tell us they'll call us later that day. They don't. The next morning we finally check in and find out that the oil cap or whatever wasn't screwed on all the way. They say that's the only issue. Oh, cool, it's like a loose bottle cap, screw it on, call it a day. That'll be $140. $140 freaking dollars? To tighten a lid? With your hand? In like 2 seconds? The service manager says that's standard and that they run other tests and that they have an hour minimum but definitely spent more than an hour on this. Any good mechanic worth his salt would've glanced at that and let you go for free-- the loyalty would be good for business. The only reason they get another star is because they advised us to go back to the people who changed the oil and ask for a refund, which we did get. However, we lost a day and a half worth of income generated from self-employment that uses that vehicle, and there was no transparency or follow-up. The next time we get the oil change, the same thing happens and the car stalls completely. Turns out it was the purge valve. My bet's going to be that it was also this the first time but their $140 charge and labor didn't find that, so I'm tempted to go down to one star, but since that's speculation, I'll give them the two stars this hot mess deserves. read more
