First and last car buying experience with the used car department at Capitol Chevrolet in Austin. As a first time car buyer, I definitely felt like this dealership took advantage of me even though i did thorough research beforehand. They will rush you through the process and not explain anything to you. I bought a used car here in December 2020 from Adam, ended up paying for a package that was never revealed or explained to me what was included. I brought this up after I reviewed my paperwork to the sales rep Adam, and the used car department manager, Neal, claimed that this package is applied to all of their used cars at Chevrolet before they are placed on the lot. However, this package included window tint, Nitrogen in the tires, a protective finish, doorhandle protection, wheel locks, etc. My windows were clearly NOT tinted when i drove it off of the lot, and many of the other things were not done either. When I questioned the sales manager about why I paid for this when my windows were not tinted, my wheel lock key was not in my car, and I had doubts that everything else was done (that I paid over $3000 for) he assured me that the services were done before they sold me the car. I had to take the car in to physically show him that my windows were not tinted and I had no key to my wheel locks and the other things were not done!!! I told Neal that I want a refund for the services and he definitely did not want to refund me. I had to go back and forth for days before I received a partial refund for the services that were not done and ended up letting them tint my windows. Overall, most of my conversations with Neal resulted in him gaslighting me and acting like I was dumb and calling me "honey". After all was said and done, Neal asked me to leave a "good review on Google please", why would I do that when I went through all of this with Capitol Chevrolet??? Here is my Google review: I do not recommend buying a car from here. Time goes on and I find out that there's an active recall that was active far before I bought this car from them for a fuel pump that could cause crashes at high speeds- I was NEVER made aware of this in the car buying process from my sales rep or the sales manager. Additionally, the windshield wiper fluid was empty, the oil was not changed, and the sales rep knew NOTHING about this vehicle. I called today to ask about this and someone named Luis said "sorry ma'am what do you want me to do about it? I wasn't the one that sold you the car" and said that all customers sign a Carfax before purchasing a car from them, I didn't sign or even see a Carfax in this process. Luis then told me maybe someone mentioned it and "I didn't hear them" what a JOKE. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND THESE PEOPLE!!!!! read more

I bought my 2008 Silverado Texas Edition from Capital, and had a great, no hassle experience back then. But this review is about the service dept. A couple of years ago in Ft. Worth, in very cold weather, my truck got stuck in Park. Would start and everything, just wouldn't shift out of park. I was stranded at a gas station on I20. While waiting for a tow truck, it suddenly went into drive. I drove it immediately to a Chevy dealer in Ft. Worth, and, after full diagnostics, they couldn't find anything wrong. The problem never happened again, until last week. Last week, went out to my driveway when it was below freezing, and the truck started but wouldn't shift out of park. I called capital and asked if I could have it towed in for an immediate look. They said yes. Before calling for a tow, I monkeyed with it a little while, hoping it would suddenly solve itself like last time, and it finally did after about 15 minutes. I drove it straight to Capital to the pull up lane. They brought one of the actual techs out, Barry, who seemed like a veteran tech. He asked me some questions, hooked up a diagnostic reader, and concluded that it was probably a bad brake switch, though he couldn't be positive. Even though the idiot light said "service traction control". Even though I didn't have an appointment, they pulled it right in and changed the brake switch. That solved the problem, the lights went off, and I was on my way in less than an hour for under $100. Extra bonus, Barry commented that my brakes didn't seem right, which is correct. Midas screwed them up, even after I brought the truck back and complained that the rotors had not been properly turned, and they turned them again (see that separate review). It's a barely discernible "lumpy" feel wheel the wheels are stopping, but Barry caught it. I'll be going back for that repair another time. In summary, Capital Service Dept waiting area isn't flashy, modern or really even clean. It's an old school "shop", not a glitzy hangout, like Howdy Honda. But I have full confidence in the techs and will be returning again for service as they've won me over. read more

Great experience buying a used truck. I walk the car lot with the salesman who showed me what they had available in my price range. I didn't see exactly what I wanted so the salesman took my contact information and over the next two weeks sent several pictures of vehicles that he thought would fit my needs. Eventually the salesman found a match for me. I drove to the dealership, took the truck for a test drive, and ask him to do things to the truck. The salesman took care of my list and called me a few days later letting me know the truck was ready The buying process and financing was very easy. The fine folks at Capitol Chevrolet worked hard to get me the best interest rate available and took the time to explain the options in terms that were easy for me to understand. Everyone from the salespersons, financing, and even service department treated me like a customer and never like a number. Capitol Chevrolet will get my business again! read more

This Chevy dealer charges a gripe for servicing your vehicle and they do inferior work. They don't protect your car from the elements and this dealership left my car in an area where it got damaged and sustained damage to the paint job. Took my car in for a diagnostic test came back a bad o2 sensor. While checking that they claimed I had a radiator leak so that was replaced. paid for my vehicle around noon today and came back for it around 7ish noticed a puddle of radiator fluid on the ground on top of that my right headlight wasn't clipped back in so my light was out. Shout out to Josewho was still there and able to reconnect my headlight and re-clamp my radiator hose. read more

Worst car buying experience I've ever been through. Not only this is the WORST Chevy Dealership in Texas (not the best like they claim to be in their commercials) but they're the most unprofessional. They don't work with you and would rather let you leave feeling defeated. They're unorganized and poor-trained. Trash trash trash. take your business elsewhere. bought my truck brand new in June 2021. At 7,000 miles the lifters on the right side went out. At 14,000 miles the lifters on the left side went out. Vehicle has 49,000 and the Engine light has been coming on and off for months. They told me they would not look at it unless the light was on. Called them at least 6x and always got the same answer. Called back today and they said i can bring it in but they can't look at it for a couple weeks and they do not have loaner vehicles so I have to rent one. I asked if they would reimburse me for The rental vehicle, considering it's still under warranty, and no one had an answer, kept transferring me and eventually hung up. I could go somewhere else I guess for service but this place is close and they are the ones that sold me this POS. This place is a joke and has the worst customer service I've ever experienced. We drove to Austin from Nashville, and as soon as we arrived, my check engine light came on. Ugh. My car is fairly new with less than 50k miles, so I wanted to get the dealership's opinion. Tony helped me and informed me that I simply didn't screw the gas cap on tight enough. I felt stupid but was relieved it wasn't a major issue. He reset the light and sent me on my way. The next day it came on again... Tony told us they were very busy and we'd have to leave it. I explained to him that we had to drive back to Nashville the next day, and I wanted to make sure the car wasn't going to break down on the way home. He squeezed me in for a diagnostic test and determined it was the catalytic converter. He said they wouldn't have time to replace it before we left but that it would be safe to drive. I took my Chevrolet Truck in for check engine light and alignment. My Service Advisor Jake Buckley phoned me 3 times just like he said he would to keep me advised about progress of the repairs. Then they complete service and returned my vehicle exactly on day that I was promised I know that most people's service trips are a nightmare but this was an extremely well managed operation by CAPITAL CHEVROLET'S service team. I received an appraisal last Friday from this dealership for my 2014 Titanium Ford Fiesta. I got an estimate of $10,075 via email and a sales member called and said I would receive an estimate of $10,000-$11,000 even though I did not want to exchange my car. After taking the time to meet with the staff onsite I was first offered $5,000 and then $8,500. After my appointment I was pretty frustrated since my time was wasted and I expressed that they lied to me twice about what they were going to offer me. The sales person did not seem to care and I even contacted the manager and he never responded. I would recommend ignoring this dealership if they try to "offer" you a good deal. This is hands down the WORST customer service experience I have ever received. The easiest way to explain this is with a list of every possible way that this dealership failed. 1. The used car dealer who was assisting me in the purchase of my 2013 Black Chevy Volt was fired from the company. His service was so incredibly awful in the following ways: Not ONCE was any voicemail I left ever returned. Not once was any consideration of my time in the office ever taken into account. For one of many examples, when I had already waited well over two hours in their sales office for financing to come back with loan approval, my sales associate (now fired) told me he was going to expedite the loan approval process. Instead, I watched him walk straight onto the lot and begin selling a vehicle to another customer. In addition, the fact I even had to wait in that office blows my mind because all of these financing requests could have been made well in advance of my second visit to the dealership because all the possible loan packages had already been discussed. 2. When trying to price the car, the sales team had three different individuals offering me well over ten different payment options before allowing me to leave the office the first time. If you walk into this office, expect to spend at least two hours being sold on every possible sales package under the sun. 3. When trying to determine the purchase price of the car, my sales associate attempted to quote me a starting price that was $3,000 above the list price of the car on Autotrader. If you are going into this office, expect to be tricked into starting list price that is significantly higher than anything they actually offered online. Be vigilant, because Capitol Chevrolet will try to trick you. 4. When attempting to complete the work that was promised on the car, I was required to bring my car into their dealership not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, SIX times to get a simple backup camera added and a new front grill. In addition, the back up camera that was added to the car was not the camera that was originally promised by the sales representative that was fired, but instead a camera that was awkwardly placed on the rear view mirror with guidelines that were not dynamic (They did not move as the steering wheel moves). If you go to Capitol Chevrolet, make sure you literally write down the exact items you expect to be put on the car down to their placement, cost, expectations of delivery of services, and any other possible concerns under the sun. 5. After purchase, I realized that the windshield was cracked in two places on the passenger side. Because this is a legitimate safety concern, I requested that Capitol Chevrolet fix the issue. I was PROMISED by manager "A" that this issue would be resolved within the next day. Instead, the next day I was told by a manager "B" that this issue would not be resolved because, "They were already doing so much for me". How can someone bring a safety concern about a vehicle to a certified dealership, be lied to about the problem being fixed, and then told that they simply just don't care enough about your safety. 6. One of the times I left my vehicle with them for service I was given a loaner vehicle. Nice service right? Wrong. Not even two hours after I left the dealership with their loaner vehicle I received a phone call requesting access to that vehicle. Why? They had left another customers personal items in this vehicle, and now that customer was demanding access to the car. I was already out of town by this point, and told them they had to simply access the vehicle themselves. In true Capitol Chevrolet fashion, I never received a phone call back as to rather or not they ended up needing access to the vehicle. In addition, the vehicle interior looked like absolute shit, and may as well have been a garbage can for the previous owner. The fact that a customer would ever be given a loaner vehicle in this condition blows my mind. 7. As I am writing this review I am attempting to sort out the fact that my license plates and registration are well over a month and a half late. An individual at their dealership just called and said that I am "confused". What kind of customer service company EVER tells a customer that they are confused. It took me seven different calls today just to get an answer of rather or not my license plates had been ordered. 8. For every time that I went into their office, for every different manger that I spoke to about the vehicle, for every phone call I made that was never returned, I never once had someone simply admit their fault and apologize. Every time I entered the office I was ushered into a side office to avoid other customers hearing me voice my absolutly reasonable concerns. I was even asked by management to not treat them too harshly despite laying out all of the above concerns to them in my most recent visit. Never take your business here. We have 3 Chevy's in our household, none purchased from Capitol Chevy, but I needed my Tahoe services so I went there. I was VERY impressed with their service department. I really didn't have very high expectations, they went above and beyond for me, even doing some research to find that a part that needed to be replaced (an expesive part) was still under warranty. I didn't realize it was, and they certainly didn't have to do the service for free to bring it to my attention, but they did. For that, I am thankful and will definatley be back. I took my Trailblazer here about a month ago to be serviced. After the better part of a week and numerous repairs later, I received the bad news that the oil pump was going out and the engine would need to be replaced. This would cost me more than the car is worth. The service tech I worked with was amazing and explained to me that it took repairing everything wrong with the car to figure out what the REAL problem was. But instead of charging me the full amount for all of the "unnecessary" repairs, which would've cost thousands of dollars, he charged me only a small fraction of the total because "it was the right thing to do." I wasn't able to get my car fixed, but they were honest and really gave me a big break. I really appreciated this and will happily recommend them to anyone with a Chevrolet. read more

I took my 21 trailblazer in 2/20 because my check engine light came on dropped off my vehicle with service advisor Lafayette when it came time to leaving my vehicle for repair he told me that a small test was ran and it looked like it was inside the engine which was causing problems I asked a couple of questions to better understand and was responded with a very rude reply like as if I should have know or as if my question was dumb I let that communication go. I was told they were backed up and wouldn't be able to test my car 5-10 days and they had a waiting list for loaners 14 people deep. I proceeded to add my name to the list with the hope that it would move fast. I called the service manager twice and left 2 voicemails asked for them to call me back with my call back number the week of 2/20-2/24 I received no call Lafayette text that my car would be ready Monday 2/27 or Tuesday 2/28 latest. Tuesday 2/28 came and at 5:30pm I had still not received an update from the service team I proceeded to call capital and was transferred multiple times in my 3 time call one of those transfers was a actual service advisor when I asked about the update on my car he asked for my service advisor and proceeded to transfer me to Lafayette knowing that he had called out sick 2/28 and would not answer instead of proceeding to answer my question on my car. I decided to go to capital myself and find out what the issue was and why I was not getting answers. When I arrived I asked to speak to a service manager and lady in the service team went to the service managers room spoke to them and instead of coming out the lady grabbed Mercedes Simmons to further assists while Mercedes was very kind and pleasant with my current situation I couldn't help but be even more frustrated with the service managers actions. He didn't come out 1 time to address the situation he and the lady who went to grab him in fact were talking about my situation. While I am explaining to Mercedes my predicament she walks over to a desk and grabs my paperwork and in fact my car was ready and because my service advisor has called out I was not called or notified I told Mercedes while I can understand that someone has called out sick and sympathize that is where the service manager needs to take the initiative and make sure that advisors work is taken care of while he is out because like myself my car was ready and just sitting there in a stack there was no need for someone to not delicate the work or taken over it while he was out. While all of this is going on I glance up and see a gentleman in his office looking at the situation and hearing what's going on proceeds to ask if Mercedes is ok and when I look on the website it's abel Vasquez another service manager that did not come out and address me to hear and understand my concerns but just watched as it happen and allowed someone on his team to help me that is very unprofessional this is not the first time I have experienced capital's service department to suck majorly prior times this has happened to not only me but my father. As a person who worked for a dealership I have never experienced such bad service and makes me feel like changing my car from a years of Honda purchases to Chevy was a bad call on my part. Purchase experience was so-so - salesman was helpful, but wanted the whole "sit down with the finance manager" before we could talk terms. I called Apple Leasing, and had them buy the car for me at a discount, over the phone, in about 10 minutes. Service is also so-so so far. Apple gave me a card for $7 oil changes, which I plan to use, but Chevrolet sent me a coupon for a free oil change. That was nice, plus the dealership sent me an email when OnStar told them my car needed an oil change. You can click through and make your own appointment online - another plus. I arrived at my designated time, 8 a.m. on Saturday. There were 5-6 cars ahead of me in multiple lines, and no system for tracking who came in when. Deep breaths, I had a cup of coffee so I smiled and listened to NPR. Service advisor was very nice, and I also asked them to mount my front license plate bracket. After about half an hour, the service advisor told me there was a recall on my car's A/C programming and was it ok if they downloaded - I said sure, since the A/C had mysteriously started blowing warm air twice right when I got it. After probably another hour, he came out and asked if I had the screws for the license plate bracket - sure, they're in the trunk. Then I realized I was sitting there almost two hours more, and when I asked for my car, it was miraculously done within 2 minutes. Harumph. Overall, people were nice, facility was old dealer scary/rundown, work seemed to be done fine and for free, but no system for things happening - squeaky wheel gets serviced. read more

They had one Forester in stock, a 2018 Premium XT and it was nice so I snatched it up but the buying process was as smooth as could be. My rep, Mike C. was a straight dealer - no BS. He did his best to sell the vehicle at his price point (that's his job) but when I advised him that I had a strict budget and gave him my bottom line, he honored it and ended the pitch. If you have ever bought a used vehicle you will appreciate the significance of what I just described. So, I bought the vehicle in about an hour and drove away with my new (used) Forester. After a day I noticed that the detail job wasnt quiet what it should have been. I texted Mike to advise him (asking for nothing in return) and he apologized, told me to bring it back and made it right. I returned the next day. They did an outstanding detail job on the thing. I feel like some dealers would not have answered my text because they already had my money but Mike was stand-up. If you're in the market for a used vehicle or a new Chevy, I'd most definitely recommend - specifically - asking for Mike C. Happy searching. read more

My hubby and I were driving through, and noticed that they had a car with the exact options I was looking for, online. When we got there, we were upset to realize that the car was no longer on the lot, but still up for sale on the site. Luckily, Ben Arnette and the Used Car Sales Manager offered to find the car I wanted at Auction. Ben would call me regularly to update me on the status of the search, customer service which is unheard of now-a-days. Surprisingly, a dealership closer to our home got the car I wanted as a trade-in, and I had to jump on it because it's such a rare find. Ben did a great job of making us feel comfortable when we were on the lot, and was happy to hear that we found the car. We will definitely check with him first when we're in the market to purchase again. read more

*DO NOT* BUY AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE HERE. Classic high-pressure sales situation. While buying an all-electric Chevy Bolt, I was twice notified that the "oil changes" I was getting was a perk. Seriously, how tough it to have a Monday-morning meeting which tells the sales and finance person (2 people) that electric cars DO NOT need oil changes! Total scam. They tack on a $2,500 package which include oil changes on an electric car. The electric car was nearly out of batteries when I drove the car and it went into the low power mode on the test drive. Their charger was "wired wrong" and could not fast charge it. Also, they lost one of the keys for my car so I was given a half charged car because they had to disconnect it to reprogram the key. I had to drive over 200 miles home with a car that had ~150 miles of charge. These people will not let you leave the building when entering a negotiation. My sales person, who was literally a drill sergeant in the army, would not let me leave for lunch. Sure, don't let the customer leave because they probably never will come back (one of my regrets) but you don't have to be literally militant about it. The finance guy totally botched my loan. He made a slight change which "wouldn't really make a difference" and I ended up with something like a 5.7% interest rate instead of a 4.6%, which actually does make a big difference on a $41k loan. They also claimed the car had 12 miles on it when it actually had over 300. That's fraud. I emailed the sales manager with my issues about the sales process. He never got back to me. When one of the other sales people texted me, I told him about the email but was still ignored. Multiple sales people begged me to give them a rave review on the Chevrolet survey. It was kind of pathetic. There was one guy who was incredibly good. Carlos, the tech who helps you set up your car, was incredibly nice. He texted me on my 200+ mile journey home without a full charge to help me find a fast-charger. Unfortunately, since I was seven hours into my sales experience and eager to leave, I didn't get the full training experience of the new car. Overall, this place sucks. I would only go here if you were pitting other Chevy dealerships against them and they gave you a good deal. Buyer beware. EV buyer, especially beware. read more

Neal, the manager, was also very professional and has always returned my calls quickly. Also very friendly staff. My wife and I found an Audi Q7 on their used car lot and they gave us a great deal on it with an extended warranty as well as financed it at a very good interest rate. They also tinted the windows, at our request, with ceramic tint. Very accommodating with loaner vehicle while they tinted the windows and honored the warranty to fix an oil leak. Worst car buying experience EVER! We had great customer service while we were in the process of buying a car. But once we purchased the car, the sales man disappeared. The Truck I bought needed a light replaced , tail pipe to be re hung, tires replaced. Sales guy who i will not name said he would change the tires, fix the lights and hang the tail pipe. I purchased the truck and didn't get to drive it off the lot until a week later with two new tires not four like promised and the tail pipe being hung by very thin chicken wire. all this was reported to sales guy he would take a week to respond to any of my text so I had the truck for two weeks and notice that the breaks and rotors were squeaking reported to sales guy told me to take to service station a week later got that repaired and works great but had to wait for approval to have the other things wrong worked on. It has been 1 month and no call or answer from anybody getting rep[airs done. had to pay out of pocket to have lights fixed because I got a ticket for it not working and couldn't wait for the incompetent sales staff to call me back Once you drive out of the parking lot, good luck getting anything resolved. update: had to go in to pick plates up( never got a call that they were ready)drove up to sales guy told me to take to service station to get quote on repairs so did that got a call two days later that they will not pay for repairs and would go half on a door latch repair if I wanted it replaced.I signed papers for my truck late November and it starts falling apart in December text sales guy, get text back in January and still no repairs. this place only cares about meeting quota and who can be the biggest douche bag there. Only buy a vehicle here if you : A. Like being lied to B. Want to have your car there more than at your home C. Like getting a filthy vehicle back after not having it for more than 7 days. D. like being told that and I quote "big dawgs buy trucks and pay big dawg money" from a sales manager to try to get you to pay 700+ dollars a month for a year old truck. read more

I wish if I can give them 0 star. On Oct 12, 2021, I had an appointment with Capital Chevrolet to do a recall service on my 2016 Chevy Tahoe. I picked up my vehicle. I drove to a restaurant and could not lock the driver's side door. I noticed there is a damage to the driver's side door panel. I drove back to Capital Chevrolet, and I asked Hal what happened. He told me, the technician miss interpreted his note and he thought this panel need to be fixed (the technician actually broke the plastic panel). Hal said he would have it fixed. So I left my vehicle at Capital Chevrolet again. On Oct 14, 2021. I picked up the vehicle. But it was the most possible cheap way to fix a door panel. They added some glue to try to fix the broken broken plastic that holds the door panel together. I could see the glue in the seams. In less than 2 days, the broken door panel came apart again. On Oct 16, 2021 I contacted Hal again about this issue. Hal asked me again to drop it off, when I dropped it off I met with Jorge Rocha the service manager, and I explained to him that glue would not work on the broken plastic. Jorge Rocha said "this is a cheap way to describe it, this is a plastic welding. This is a $1,000 fix and I will NOT spend that money" also "I will have one of my technicians to fix it, if not, we will contact a contractor who is specialized in this issue but I'm not sure when he will be available". I picked up my vehicle and I can tell clearly see they fixed the broken panel with the same previous method, obviously, this method did not work before. I am not sure why Jorge thinks it will work now? Rebecca Abeyta has contacted me and promised me to fix what they broke. Today after more than 5 weeks, nothing has been fixed. read more

Poor Customer service. Bought 7 cars from Capitol Chevrolet, Austin Texas over the last several years. When clutch went out on Car #7 Capitol Chevrolet did not cover the repair. Eventhough assembly was due to faulty workmanship. When I refinanced the loan I got through Capitol, at a lower rate through my credit union, I was charged an early payoff Fee. When I complained to management at Capitol, about warranty and payoff I was told to file a complaint with GM. GM turned it down. GM informed me to contact dealership because each dealership is independently owned. Issued never resolved. A family member was working at Capitol Chevrolet when he bought this problem car #7. Great sales team and very warm in customer service. Within 2015 this will be my third new vehicle that my wife and I have purchased. Out of the three dealers, Capital Chevrolet was the first dealer that sratched the tailgate when the emblem from the dealership was removed. I had to take the time out of my busy schedule to have the scratches buffed out. I also had the opportunity to speak to the Manager and sales associate regarding my discontent regarding the damage, and was very pleased to be reassured that all the dealership staff members will meet/exceed my expectations on all my future visits. Capitol Chevrolet is stupid as hell! But most importantly the CEO of Capitol Chevrolet. Service department doesn't know what they're doing. They are slow they just love taking peoples money and act stupid as if warranties don't exist. I thought Capitol Chevrolet loved helping people out but the service department love screwing people over. I'll make sure I spread the word and hopefully keep people from doing business with a dealership that likes screwing people over. A recalled part went out and my van would not start. You get free road side assistance with 2015 models. Third party Towing company did not leave the key with my van when they dropped it off. Tony in the service department let me know what was going on through out the process. He Didn't duck my calls, and they got my van fixed and back to me in a timely manner. Thanks Tony. read more
