Somehow the service department got worse. The advisor and the actual work were fine, pricing was good, etc. The problem lies with the cashiers. I had been waiting over 2 hours (the quoted time, still not the issue) and in that time, I saw a car pull in and an employeee got out to take drinks inside. Then she returned to move her car...right into the only wheelchair accessible disabled space. No placard or plate. She went back in, not just for a minute, which still would've been bad, but just went back to work. When I went to pay, she asked for my name and went to get my keys and paperwork. Instead of coming back, she stopped to talk and laugh with a service advisor. The other cashier ended up helping me, but had no response other than "oh" when I told her about the parking. If it's a case of forgetting the placard, that's fine, I've even done that before. Despite the higher cost, I'll be returning to my regular mechanic for all maintenance in the future. As a side note, sending 4 different notifications asking me to trade in my car without me even remotely asking about it was far too much. read more

I came in with an offer from the dealership that I got over the phone and also in an email and it was honored and I even walked out paying less than the original offer which was a true surprise. I have been going to Capital Honda for several years now. I returned mostly because of convenience of location, easy scheduling and largely good communication. I recently brought my car in for service last week and was disappointed by the quality of work. My car had several issues that needed looking at and a regular service. I also noticed the engine cover had not been reinstalled correctly after the last service at Capital Honda so asked them to fix what they had broken. They didnt fix the engine cover and didn't mention it on pickup. They scratched up my dash when they replaced the start button. They charged me a diagnostic fee to find the issue with the transmission but the fix was a SW update. I was disappointed they hadn't upgraded the SW in the 3 previous services. And to top it off, just 1 week after the service I have a new check engine light. Just don't think the quality is there and the price is very high. Will go elsewhere in future. read more

Upon arrival for my service appointment, I was greeted promptly by one of the lot attendants, who appeared eager to get me checked in quickly. Initially, I was pleased and expected the process to take only a few minutes. Unfortunately, that was not the case. After checking in, I experienced what seemed to be an excessive wait. While I did not track the exact time, it felt as though I waited approximately 40 minutes before receiving assistance. During that period, I checked with the service advisors inside several times but was unable to get a clear estimate of how much longer the wait would be. I was simply told that other vehicles were being checked in, although there did not appear to be much activity taking place. When I was finally assisted by a service advisor, there seemed to be confusion regarding the purpose of my appointment. The advisor asked whether I wanted my wheels rotated, which was surprising because my appointment had been scheduled specifically for two recall repairs that I had previously been told would be addressed during this visit. To make matters more frustrating, I was then informed that only one of the two recalls could be completed. This information was not communicated to me beforehand, despite my appointment having been scheduled for both recall services. I purchased a 2020 Civic from Capitol Honda using outside financing through Tower Federal Credit Union. Before I signed paperwork and arranged funding, both the sales manager and finance manager repeatedly represented to me that once the dealership received and verified the cashier's check with the credit union, the vehicle would be released. Based on those representations, I signed the contract and had the cashier's check overnighted to the dealership. Only after the check arrived did I learn that Capitol Honda intended to impose a 10-day hold on the vehicle despite: * possession of the cashier's check, * direct communication with my credit union, * confirmation that the funds were legitimate, * and offers from the credit union to provide additional verification and proof of cleared funds. At the same time, I continued to be encouraged to consider financing through the dealership instead. My credit union later informed me that they considered Capitol Honda's refusal to accommodate verified outside financing highly unusual compared to their experience with other dealerships. What frustrated me most was not the existence of a policy itself, but the fact that the release expectations communicated to me before signing and funding the transaction turned out to be materially different afterward. Ultimately, I canceled the deal and purchased elsewhere. I would strongly encourage future buyers using outside financing to get all release terms and delivery conditions explicitly confirmed in writing before signing paperwork or arranging funding. read more

Did my first oil change on a CR-V after the 24k mile warranty expired with the free oil changes. 2.8 Quarts of oil put in by Capitol Honda Service "technicians". Factory spec says 4.2 Quarts, these guys are trying to destroy my engine. Either complete incompetence or they are selling the extra oil on the side. Not to mention the torque on oil filter + oil drain plug. Factory spec says 30 ft-lbs of torque on drain plug, I had to put what seemed like over 100 lbs on it with a 3 foot bar to break the plug loose. Crush washer was essentially fused to the plug from the pressure they put on it, had to cut it off to remove. If you care about your Honda at all, don't let these people touch it. read more

I wanted to buy from Capitol Honda because they're the closest dealership to me, and I figured it would be an easy, straightforward purchase. Before coming in, I did my homework (odyclub, Reddit, etc.) and knew exactly the out-the-door (OTD) price I wanted for a Honda Odyssey. I called multiple dealers, got the price I wanted in writing, then called Capitol Honda and asked if they could match or beat it. They told me they could beat it and encouraged me to come in that day. I was very clear up front: I want X OTD, no add-ons, no "extras," and I don't want to waste anyone's time and if they can't do it, that's fine. Once I arrived, the experience was the opposite of straightforward. Even though we had already discussed the OTD number, they spent the next 1.5-2 hours trying to add fees and extras on top of the price ("the car is this much, but then we still need to add this and that"). It felt like classic bait-and-switch tactics and was extremely unprofessional. Only when they realized I was willing to walk did they finally agree to the OTD price. Then came more avoidable delays. I told them I was paying cash and even had my checkbook with me. No one mentioned any restrictions until the very end, after I had already waited another ~45 minutes while the car was being cleaned, when they suddenly told me they wouldn't accept a personal check and required a cashier's check. If they had told me that upfront, I could have gone to the bank during the waiting time and saved a lot of hassle. Instead, I had to leave, go to the bank (midday lines), and come back, more wasted time. When I tried to give feedback to a manager/owner, he acknowledged it, but then launched into a long speech about how cars are basically like "phones"... which ultimately turned into a push for a protection plan. I declined repeatedly, but the paperwork and upsell attempt dragged on and added even more time. What should have been a quick, transparent transaction took most of my day. I can't speak to their service department, but based on the purchase experience alone, I would not recommend buying here if you value your time. If you have other options, I'd go elsewhere. read more

Went to this dealership to look at a used 2020 Chevy Bolt. Price was right and they immediately gave the $4000 tax credit towards the price of the vehicle. My only issue is that online they do not disclose they add a $1300 anti-theft device to every used car they sell which you must purchase. It is a three year subscription based service which you need to renew every three years. They were willing to give me the service at their cost. Other than this one issue, their sales person Jerry Villagrana worked us through the deal with no pressure. He was very professional throughout the four hours we were at the dealership. They took care of an electrical issue with the car while we were there and will be ordering a replacement headrest that was missing. I admit they have great customer service and went out of their way to correct things with the car before we signed off and took ownership. If I purchase another used car from them, I will have to remember the anti-theft system they install into their vehicles that bumps up the price. read more

This review is specifically for the Services Department. I bought my CRV from this dealership last year and have been taking it back to the dealership when my car needs service, like oil changes. Honestly, each time I go I feel so disrespected and invisible to all of the employees there. I just let it go, but I just brought my car in the other day because a warning popped up and my experience was so frustrating I feel I need to leave a review. I made an appointment for the afternoon, and pulled up in the Service Reception lane. I was the only car in this lane. There was one other car in the Express Lane who was already being helped. I sat in my car because that's what the signage says to do. After about 5-10 minutes, someone came out and asked if I was there for a service and put a number on my car and said someone would be out to help me. I waited in my car for someone to come, all the while, employees were coming out and helping cars coming AFTER me in the Express Lane. I kept looking over to see employees coming out, talking to the driver, then the car being taken into the back... while I'm still sitting here with my appointment which has now passed. After 30 minutes I finally got out and told the two employees at a car in the Express Lane that I've been waiting for 30 minutes and I don't understand why cars after me are being helped first. One of the employees said they're short staffed and the other went inside. I understand short staffed but to keep me waiting 30 minutes while helping other cars who are Express and likely don't have an appointment time? After this, they brought me inside to the desk where someone finally helped me but I felt like I was already labeled as the impatient customer. This happens literally every time I go here. I feel like I'm just invisible to them each time. Maybe I'm missing the concept of Services Reception and Express Lane? Either way, I'm really over just letting it go every time. A complete and total joke. I was in for service this morning. When I got there the left lane for intake was blocked by cars waiting for people to come and leave. So I got in the right intake lane, there were 3 cars in front of me. I waited 5 mins or so, by that time the left intake lane had cleared and all these cars piled into it. The porters finally started putting numbers on cars, this was a solid 10-15 mins after I got here at this point. They gave all those 8-10 cars that got there long AFTER me numbers first. I told them, politely, hey I got here way before all of those people. First porter wouldn't do anything, continued giving the left lane of people numbers. A few minutes later the cars in front of me move up. I talk to another porter about the situation. He said he couldn't change the numbers. I said I wasn't asking for him to change the numbers, I was just asking for me to be helped before all the people who got there AFTER me. He said I would just need to be patient. Then a service advisor comes out, looks at my number and starts to walk away. I explained what happened, he looked like he could care less. I left. If the porters weren't busy being glued to their phones and putting numbers on cars when they got there this would have solved the whole problem. We have 3 Honda's, I was bringing them all here for service. I'll go elsewhere. As far as buying a car here I would advise against it. Their prices are significantly higher than other dealerships, so we've also went elsewhere for buying cars. This review is only for the service department. I have always gotten my car serviced here because it's convenient and easy to book an appointment online. Recently, I brought my car in for an oil change, and my service advisor was Yvonne Liao. She called me to inform me that my car would be ready for pickup soon, but she also recommended that I change the cabin filter. I told her no because I had already changed it myself two weeks prior to the appointment. She then suggested that I also change the engine filter, and I told her I would look into it. After that, she recommended that I get a new set of tires because she said my car had over 30,000 miles and that my tires were wearing down. I don't know much about tires, so I felt a bit uneasy about the recommendation and decided to decline. Later, I found out through American Tire that my tires were actually in good condition a month later. I'm not sure if Yvonne Liao was following an upselling script, but the information I was given about my car was misleading and unnecessary. For all the services she recommended, she never explained why they were needed or whether the mechanics had advised them. Because of my experience with Yvonne and the misinformation I received, I will not be returning here for future car service. read more

Their solution was to give it a standard service and not fix the problem. To make it worse: 1) They had to order a part and asked me to bring it back a few days later. I brought it in first thing in the morning and they said it wouldn't take long. I sat there waiting and waiting and waiting. The service advisor, Ken, forgot to call me to tell me my car was ready! If I hadn't asked, I would have been there forever. 2) Since they didn't fix the problem, I called and asked to speak to a manager.
