I've been to Cappy's several times, and while I genuinely enjoy the food and the friendly service, the pricing has officially crossed into absurd. I'm sorry, but $25 for a basic breakfast plate? $7 for a small glass of juice? $5 for a few strawberries? That's not upscale - that's exploitative. There are plenty of trendy, popular brunch spots in Los Angeles (yes, LA) that charge less than this - and they're in far more expensive neighborhoods. Cappy's isn't Nobu. It's not a Michelin-starred restaurant. It's a casual brunch spot acting like it's serving gold-plated eggs. And no, the portion sizes or quality don't justify it. The food is good, but not "justify breaking the bank for eggs and toast" good. I'm not expecting diner prices, but I also shouldn't have to spend $40+ for a basic brunch. It's frustrating, because I want to keep supporting local spots like this. But at these prices, I just can't do it anymore. Cappy's is pricing out regulars in favor of those who are okay with paying luxury prices for very normal food. Until the menu becomes more reasonable, I'll be taking my brunch business elsewhere. read more

Such a classic spot! When in the area, everyone MUST visit Cappy's at one point or another! Fast paced restaurant and service has always been spot-on. I mean, they've got a person for everything and each person does their job well. This place is almost always really crowded, but the wait to be seated is usually the only wait you'll have. They are only open for breakfast and lunch... and we've only been for breakfast. However, the lunch menu looks terrific so I'm sure we'll eventually hit it for a nooner at some point. Burritos, omelettes, skillets, pancakes, French toast; they've pretty much got them all, and everything we've ever had has been delicious. Pancakes, however, are out-of-this world fluffy and yummy!! And if you are a toast hound, like me, you will be more than satisfied with the sourdough! Servings are large, so come hungry. The best way to get seated quicklier (is that a word?) is to actually go on the Cafe's website and make a rezzie via Open Table. We actually have done this on our way to eat, just minutes away, and once we got there we were seated almost immediately even though there were people waiting to get in. Just something to keep in mind. The parking lot is small and cramped, not an easy task at times. But there's street parking or you can park elsewhere and walk. Phenomenal! This is my second time coming to Cappys. I had brunch with fellow teachers on Spring break. Originally, I had reserved a table for 5 people (10A on a Thursday), so we got a larger table. Only 3 of us showed up. Server did ask us if we would be willing to move. However, we asked if we could stay where we were, & she was OK with it. I ordered Nova Lox burrito (smoked salmon, avocado, hash browns) with salsa on the side. It was huge and full of deliciousness. The salsa complimented the richness of the salmon. One friend ordered the seafood omelet, which had lumps of crab in it with home fries on the side. She ate half of it and took the rest home as it was super filling. The other friend ordered the Seafood Bennies (eggs Benedict with crab) She said it was really good, the toastiness of the English muffin was great with the lumps of crab, poached eggs, and sauce. Plus, the coffee was delicious! The servers were friendly & efficient. Thet checked in on us without being obtrusive. Loved Cappys for restaurant week! However, the prices came out to be almost the same with what was ordered: a mimosa and breakfast burrito. We also got the crab Benedict that was ok, but still 5-stars. This place is not located on the ocean side of PCH but it's a humble place that has a little bit of everything. Got there on a Sunday at 9:30am, parking isn't ideal but we were able to find some. We had to wait about 10 minutes for our table and it wasn't bad. We had $100 gift card because they knew that we were regulars at many different breakfast establishments. We heard that this would be a pretty good place and that can't be any further from the truth. The service was about the worst I've ever seen. It was our first time there and we let the waitress know it was our first time and asked her about the sides and she said just read the menu. We got up and walked out. We tried to go back another time and sat in a different section and the food and service were horrible. We gave it a third try by ordering food to go and there's literally no flavor and the food looks like it was cooked by a 10-year-old. Stay away from this place. read more

Joined some friends for a delicious brunch at Cappy's. This was recommended to us and when we arrived it seemed busy which was a good sign. Ordered the Bloody Mary and Pacific Coast Benedict. The Mary was delish with fun things like bacon, pickle, olive, lemon lime as a garnish. The Benedict was really good and my friends had an omelette and juevos rancheros which they also said were delish. They weren't crispy. Get the hashbrowns instead. The place was slow and it took the server forever to even take our order. It's like they didn't know what they were doing. We celebrated our life long friend's birthday today and the Cappy's team took great care of all 14 of us. They moved us inside due to the weather and kept us all at the same table and nice and warm. I had the blackened fish tacos and they were fabulous. The homemade chipotle sauce has a great kick and comes on the side. The tortilla chips are made fresh in house and it shows, so yummy!! My friend next to me had the tuna melt and said it was very good. You really can't go wrong with any items on the menu. I recommend holding your next Celebration at Cappy's. read more

Came here after doing whale watching and it was packed. Make sure to make a reservation online because there was tons of people waiting in front at 11 am on a Sunday. Parking is pretty rough, we had to park on the street in the side although there is someone trying to guide people for parking. In terms of food we ended up getting huevos rancheros and a Monte cristo. Both were fantastic, the huevos rancheros had great texture though I could go without all the extra cheese. The Monte cristo was def a gotta get. Great texture, flavors and overall good balance. Totally would be back if I'm around the area. read more

Because this placed is promoted as "pet friendly ", I expected water dish for our pup and more accommodating facilities. My wife hasn't been to Cappy's Cafe since 1990 having moved away from the area for many years. I myself, have never been here. She offered to take me to breakfast having moved back to this area. She wondered whether the food and service were the same after all these years. We were not disappointed. Ann was our server and all staff members were friendly and attentive. I had the Cinnamon French Toast Combo with Sausage and my wife had the Corned Beef Hash & Eggs. Both were excellent!Servings were more than enough but we managed to finish them. If you're coming here on a weekend, just ensure you have some time to be able to spend a bit of effort getting some parking. It's really not the greatest, but there are some helpful folks that work in the parking area that direct traffic and make it easier to find a space. The location itself is pretty dope. Being so close to the beach, it provides some amazing ambiance if you choose to sit outside (which I encourage during the times Cappy's is open). Being that this was my first time here and it's in somewhat of an affluent part of town, I thought the service was pretty stellar. Expedient, friendly, not at all afraid to engage in a bit of small talk. The food itself was incredible. I ended up getting the Cinnamon Roll French Toast, which is nowhere near as sweet as you might think from that statement. It's actually very well-balanced - I highly suggest getting some bacon to accompany this behemoth to compliment its taste. Also, Cappys is one of the few places I've been recently to do a medium fried egg correctly. That's some extra credit. Will certainly be back to parse the rest of the menu! read more

I had just finished a 3 day liquid diet (not by choice), and I wanted a good breakfast.. We have gone to Cappy's a couple Times and it was close by, so we stopped in to cure My pancake craving. Pancakes are delicious, however, don't think the rest of the food is anything special. We ordered and shared: biscuits and gravy, which is bland. CA omelette, we were surprised they don't have spinach (we wanted to add to the omelette) - my husband enjoyed the omelette. The Machaca - the plate came out cold; the server promptly took the plate and got me a fresh hot plate.. the beans were runny and bland, highlight was they roasted me a jalapeño to eat with my food. I've recently been hospitalized because i have been macrodosing lions mane. But lesson learned!!!! Lions mane is also completely safe guys it's also kosher and doctor tested. But when mixed with the pain killers I've been taking to help with a traumatic model train accident i was in, it is not super safe. The fact it was packed on a foggy wednesday morning speaks to that. sausages were big and plump, and i really enjoyed the cinnamon roll breakfast. i did notice the hash browns were a bit clumped and stuck together, which i don't think is the ideal texture for crispy hashbrowns. i would also commend the lady running service, she flew around like a boss in complete control. friendly, quick, assertive - quite the battle axe. read more

So I would say the portion was pretty small for the price. Pancake combo $20 My boyfriend thought the pancakes were just as fluffy and moist. The amount of chocolate chips in them was great. I tried some and I can say it is one of my favorite pancakes as well. The price is not bad for everything that you're getting so I would say it's worth and average price.
