It's Friday night, so why not stop by for a little HH fun? Hubby and I stopped by after work - I did not realize how far west Carbon is in relation to the Loop. No matter, I like to get my steps in ;) The restaurant has a dark, sexy vibe with interesting wall decor. We sat at the bar and ordered a few drinks and apps. I felt bad for the bartender -- 1 bartender for the entire bar area which was full. She was great though! I liked the lychee martini -- there might have been a whisper of lychee flavor -- but I liked it regardless. Hubby's old fashioned was spot on. We also tried the margarita (but make it spicy). Holy sour mix batman! The margarita was so sour. Just ask the bartender to make it less sour if you do order the margarita. The star of the show was the fries!!! Did I just find the best fries in Chicago??? The fries were crispy perfection with parmesan and truffle. $6 during HH - insane. The kitchen confirmed that the fries were GF and I ordered a ceasar salad without croutons. Hubby tried the steak sliders which came with au jus on the side. He said they were OK. HH is from 5-6:30pm daily. Although the HH menu is limited, there are cocktail, wine and beer options and even a caviar bump! Carbon has a great vibe and the HH prices can't be beat. Another spot that's been on my list for some time; please note this review is for a event hosted at this venue. Though I've only visited the spot for a event, the staff was wonderful as well as the venue itself! Very beautiful; a good place to have drinks or come, in my case, it work out event lol. Pleasantly surprised at the aesthetics of the place. There is an upstairs level and the bathrooms are clean and beautiful. The hors d'oeuvres they had was delicious as well as making drinks for my event. I'm going to check this place out for dinner and/or drinks sometime soon. read more

First time here and unfortunately I did not try any food. I heard they have really good prices during happy hour but really came for the famous purse cocktail. I shared a large with my friend of the coco Chanel and it was pretty delicious! Highly recommend got us both wasted and honestly worth since it felt like 10+ drinks in one. The smaller purses are cute as well and had about 5 drinks. We had a reservation and came a little late but still had a table before they converted to a club. The reason I'm giving two stars is although our waitress was nice and checked up frequently she did unfortunately spill an entire purse (which holds a lot looks are deceiving) down my coochie and on my purse as she was setting the drinks down. It was the pradaloma which contained tequila and I had to try and wipe/dry off in the bathroom which definitely left me uncomfortable, burning, and sticky the entire night. The people on the tables next to us saw as well and were asking if I was ok and I was extremely embarrassed. She did waive the fee for that drink but honestly I wish she covered the bill for us. We also noticed it wasn't a very dancing club and wanted to go upstairs but they had a private event going on. Carbon is a visually impressive venue, almost theatrical in how it's put together. The lighting, décor, and overall ambiance feel curated for photos and nightlife energy. The food I ordered was fine, but the prices didn't quite match the portions or quality. What really threw me off was the Lamborghini parked inside the restaurant. It's definitely a conversation piece, but it also made the space feel more like a club trying to show off rather than a place centered around food. The staff was the highlight of the night--warm, professional, and quick to help. I had saw the grand opening of this new club on TikTok. I was very excited to try it out. I had a friend coming into town and I knew that they would enjoy it. Sadly, when I got there, it was nothing like it seemed on TikTok. There weren't many people in the club. It was pretty dead that I was pretty shocked about. Absolutely terrible management that has no idea how to properly run a lounge. My boyfriend and I had a 9:15 PM reservation and were seated at a booth on the first floor. We met our waitress, ordered drinks, and placed our food order. While we were waiting, Michael (whether he's a manager or promoter, I'm honestly not sure) approached us and informed us that another reservation was coming in and that we would need to move from our table. He then moved us upstairs to a small makeshift setup with flimsy tables and chairs and asked if that would work for us. I explained that we also had a reservation and wanted to remain at the table we were originally assigned, but he refused to accommodate us. What made the situation even worse was that when I looked back at our original table, it had already been given to another party. I told Michael that if someone needed to be moved upstairs, it should be the new party, not the guests who were already seated, had ordered food and drinks, and were actively spending money. His response? "Those are my friends." That comment alone tells you everything you need to know about how this place is managed. Our entire evening was interrupted because management chose favoritism over customer service. We were fully prepared to spend our night -- and our money -- here, but instead we were treated like an inconvenience despite having a reservation ourselves. The one thing that really stood out in a positive way was one of the female bartenders. She was honest, attentive, and gave great service. The food took a really long time to come out, and the music was just okay. I get that music is subjective, but being in the West Loop you kind of expect a little more variety and energy. The biggest issue for me though was the hostess. She was pretty rude for no reason and made us feel like we were bothering her just by asking a question. It came across like we were being treated as if we didn't matter, which is never a great feeling when you walk into a place. The host stand really sets the tone for the whole experience. It's a shame because the space itself is beautiful and has a lot of potential. I really wanted to like it, but the overall experience still needs some improvement. read more

Come in for happy hour $7 glasses wine, they tried to charge us for 3 full price bottles instead of 3 happy hour priced glasses. That was the start of the issues that lasted the remainder of the evening Manager acted like he was doing us a favor by correcting our check despite service getting basically everything wrong the entire night. Even then we only ended up getting over charged by 30% (down from 100%) Horrendously understaffed for dinner service and colossally disorganized. Carbon markets itself as a high-end steakhouse experience in Fulton Market. It fails at every level. The restaurant publicly advertised $9 cocktails, half-off wine, and $1 oysters from 5:30 PM to 2 AM. That promotion is false. Upon arrival for a 7 PM reservation, staff claimed it ended earlier, then said they would still apply it. They did not. The final bill ignored every single advertised discount, including items ordered within the stated timeframe. This is not a minor mistake--it is either deliberate or complete incompetence. Service was unacceptable. A 20-minute wait just to be acknowledged is not defensible at any price point. When the restaurant delivered the wrong bottle of wine, the server argued instead of correcting it. That behavior is unprofessional and out of place anywhere, especially in a restaurant charging premium prices. Food timing was equally poor. Steaks took 90 minutes to arrive. There is no justification for that. When the food finally came, it did not meet even basic expectations. The steak quality was mediocre and easily replicable at home. There was nothing about the execution that justified the price or the wait. The cocktails were poorly made and unbalanced. They reflected the same lack of care shown across the entire experience. The billing issues were the final confirmation of how poorly this place is run. Charging for three bottles instead of three glasses is a significant error. Correcting it to full-price glasses--while still ignoring the promised discounts--is not a resolution. It reinforces that the restaurant either cannot manage basic operations or chooses not to. Carbon is not a high-end restaurant. It is a disorganized, overpriced operation that relies on misleading promotions and delivers subpar food and service. In a neighborhood with legitimate options, this place is not worth consideration. read more

Spontaneously decided to try Carbon on Saturday night for dinner and it turned out to be one of the best decisions ever. I mean we started off with caviar bumps for $6, yes please, you can actually give me the whole tin. Then for our meal, we had Carbon's version of alla vodka pasta and this was tasty. The steak in the sliders was also really tender so we were satisfied with our dinner but what impressed us were the drinks. The kiss my a** was the best cocktail I've had in a while, perfectly balanced and also witty with a cute pair of lips layered in the ice cube. We also had a mezcal cocktail that I can't recall the name of, and I thought this was good even though I'm not typically a fan of mezcal. If this wasn't enough, the real star of the show was our waitress Bre! Do you ever meet someone and think that you guys could probably hit and off be besties? Bre is that type of girl. She's so sweet and you can just tell she's a genuine person. She made sure we were well taken care of at the table and even after we left our table, she still checked in on us and because of her, we ended up having the best time at Carbon after they flipped the restaurant into the nightclub at 10 pm. It ended up getting busy even with it being freezing outside so if you're trying to go for the night scene, definitely try to get there a little earlier! My friends & I decided to randomly pop up on a Thursday night. We were greeted at the door and advised that tables were reserved, however, bar seating was open. The bartender took a while to acknowledge us and 2 lovely ladies offered us their seats since they were closing. As soon as they closed their tab, the woman at the door rushed over and advised the seats were reserved for two men that had been waiting over an hour for their reservation. My friend went back to the door and asked if we were able to get a table - to which she said the tables AND bar is for reservations." We ended up ordering 3 drinks (1 cocktail & 2 glasses of Prosecco which totaled $67). We stood around and watched others be seated. Finally, we were told we could sit. We had to flag down a waitress, to give us a menu and once someone came to take our order, or what we thought, she told us we had to go to the bar to order and our table was reserved for bottle service. "Your table is for bottle service, she said you can sit here, but you have to go to the bar to order." I will not be back. I will not spend my money where I am not welcomed. read more
