Date: Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026 Time: 10:30pm Party of: 4 Meal: Dinner Reservation Made Thru: Resy a month prior Deposit Required: $200 + $17.76 tax = $217.76 *Coca Cola ($6) x3 *Negroni ($24) *GL Jeio Prosecco ($16) *Caesar ZZ ($34) *1/2 Spicy Rigatoni ($17) x4 *Lobster Ravioli ($56) *Meatballs ($27) *Single Espresso ($7) *Mint Tea ($7) x2 *Double Espresso ($7) *Tiramisu ($25) *Tax ($26.27) My girlfriend has been wanting to go the this location for quite some time. When I remembered prior to this year's NYC trip, I set an alarm to make a rezzie right when they opened up. It actually wasn't as hard as other spots, so you stand a chance if you get onto Resy when they release time slots. It just won't be at a normal dinner time. Pasta, pasta, pasta. That is the name of the game here. And which pasta? The spicy rigatoni of course! Not my favorite shape of pasta, but the sauce is delicious - creamy and tomatoey with a hint of spice. I honestly could have had it spicier, which is why I added peppers. The meatballs seemed to be a hit as well. I was pescatarian at the time so didn't try. I wish I knew the lobster ravioli was in a squid ink pasta. I'm not a fan of the earthiness of squid ink, but it wasn't too strong here. Their menus really have no descriptions so there was no way to know. When you sit down, they give you a huge basket of breads and other lil snacks. Very generous and could be a meal in itself. For the salad, if you love anchovies, def tell them. They will give you more with the salad. The resto is actually on the smaller side which I think is why it's so hard to get a rez. Our server was sweet and very knowledgeable. I noted we were celebrating a friend's bday and they gave us a candle with the dessert we ordered. In the end the entire $217.76 from my deposit was credited to our bill. Glad we finally were able to eat here. Would come back again to try those meatballs. Hopefully I can get a rez at time closer to dinner? I guess I can always try their sister spot. We'll see next year! REVIEW #4010

Service - Top tier. Pulled my chair out for me, folded my napkin. Great recommendations. Great service. Ambiance - Intimate, exclusive, moody and cozy. Food - Phenomenal. One of the best meals I've had in NYC!

I was enthusiastic about celebrating my birthday here. I monitored very closely, and 39 days, prior to my birthday, I booked on Resy. I was running late on my birthday, which they surprisingly accommodated. Not only that, they allowed for an incomplete party to be seated, which most places don't.. However, I suspect because you pay a deposit beforehand, they don't mind and have already been compensated, somewhat. Onto the food, apparently you're only allowed to order once, so my order was placed, in absentia. I knew what I wanted so it was simple. I had the minestrone soup and spicy rigatoni. I helped myself to a little bit of the Caesar salad and the potatoes Louie, which was supposed to be for me, but I did not like. I was underwhelmed with almost everything. I know, I know... maybe I had my expectations too high, but nothing really did it for me. The rigatoni was good, along with the garlic bread, but no higher than that. The salad wasn't that great nor the potatoes. I did enjoy my birthday cake and the service was impeccable, but the pod part, which is the most vital, lt me down. I appreciate the experience and did enjoy my birthday; however, wish I would have enjoyed the food a little more.

Took years to get a reservation but so happy I finally get to cross this off my NYC list!! Carbone was definitely an experience and a spot to try at least once. Everything was delicious however there are many Italian places that are just as good and are much cheaper. The wait staff was great and really contribute to what makes this such a great experience. To start, they provided complimentary bread, meat and cheese. The focaccia was so delicious, we even got more for later in the meal to dip into the sauces. We ordered tons of food and were stuffed at the end but enjoyed it all! We started with the Caesar salad which they make tableside. We also got the clams and calamari. We loved all of the above but my friends were obsessed with the calamari while my preference was clams! Caesar salad was very good, including the croutons, but very overpriced. Obviously we got the spicy rigatoni which was good and surprisingly had a kick. I know it has spicy in the name but usually things like that aren't spicy. They offered to split up the portions individually which made sharing easier. We also got the lobster ravioli which I could've passed on. Meatballs are highly recommended although not explicitly listed on the menu. It typically comes with 3 meatballs but they offered to give 4, one for each member of the party. Veal parm was delicious but waaaaay overpriced. I did appreciate that the waiter cut it up into pieces for each of us. We also got potatoes but were not impressed - we were also very full at that point. For dessert, they provide complimentary rainbow cookies but we also ordered the cheesecake and tiramisu. Both were very tasty! My only complaint was that the music was very loud and it was hard to hear. We were seated right under a speaker and I asked the waiter if we could turn it down but I don't think he did. All in all, I'm glad I finally got in to see what the hype was about!

As someone who loves Italian cuisine, we had this spot on our list for a while. We had a weekend lunch reservation and were seated at our table on entry. Service from the team at our table was very friendly and attentive. We ordered a variety of plates including some of their classics and everything was delicious. I love pasta so the vodka sauce and ragu were my favorite. Intimate and beautiful spot great for dates but good for groups as well. Definitely recommended!

First and foremost, Carbone definitely lived up to the hype. The vibe was immaculate, quintessential Italian restaurant. Every server, bartender, dressed incredibly well. The service was also phenomenal, we never lacked a drink or extra cheese. I had two espresso martinis, and they were both one of the best ones I've ever had. For appetizers we had the assorted bake clams, a Caesar salad and then shared the infamous spicy rigatoni. The Caesar salad was incredible, the croutons were fresh, every piece of lettuce was crisp. The spicy rigatoni was divine, well worth the hype. The clams were also good, but probably something I wouldn't order again personally. For dinner, I had the double lamb chops which were very good. Well cooked, seasoned to perfection. My partner had the veal Parmesan which they also enjoyed. For dessert we split the Black Forest cake and tiramisu which were both rich, and huge portion sizes. Overall, a great experience and obviously highly recommend!

Where do I begin? I think this is a nice restaurant, very cozy inside and the coat check was very kind. The service there is impeccable! They treat you with respect and kindness. Now for the food, I ordered the Caesar salad, the spicy rigatoni pasta, and the broccoli. Honestly? The Caesar salad was just completely overpowered by the horseradish dressing. The spicy rigatoni pasta is good! Simple. Nothing special. The broccoli was good too. Honestly this is a good (okay) place for just food. But you're not paying for the food only, you're paying for the experience. It's a beautiful restaurant and I am glad I have dined here. But the food is forgettable. New York has other gems worth trying.

    Truffle Tortellini
    Natalia G.

We're from California and could not wait to try Carbone. Unfortunately, our expectations were much higher than reality. Starting off with appetizers the complimentary crunchy, garlic bread served with mozzarella and salami in the beginning was a great, light start to our meal. The Caesar salad created right in front of us was very delicious and had a hint of horseradish/mustard in the dressing which was unique to my palette. The Spicy Vodka Rigatoni was delicious, but to our tables surprise, the pasta was al dente. The Lobster Ravioli as well as the Truffle Tortellini were not very appetizing. Although some may disagree, I see Lobster as a very beautiful, light shellfish, but to my surprise it was served in a dark colored dough and tasted very fishy. The Truffle Tortellini was flavorless, which was very disappointing being that truffle is usually very rich. The pork with peppers dish was my favorite out of the two meats we ordered. It had a good amount of fat which added a juicy, flavorful texture to the pork. It ate very tender and soft as well. The chicken scarpariello had a lot of flavor in the dish itself, but the chicken ate very dry. Overall, I believe this place did have great unique qualities to their dishes, but unfortunately many of their dishes missed the flavor we were looking for. I think there are plenty of Italian restaurants in NYC that meet the standards many hold for this restaurant. One thing to mention is that because this place is so popular and very hard to get into, it does feel as if you are being rushed throughout your meal as they have many other parties to serve that same night. Ambience: 8/10 Service: 7/10 Food: 6/10

I wanted to go here for so long, and once I got a reservation, I honestly was hoping it would be overhyped so I wouldn't be mad about never going again. However, it was phenomenal! The free bread is good, we loved the pasta and the desserts were so decadent. The broccolini was also amazing! The restaurant is a tight fit for most tables and its upscale, so I'd recommend business casual.

Delivered. First and foremost, they treat you well. It's a dressy, classy affair so please dress up nicely. Not too much, but just right amount of classy. We had ordered two appetizers: beef carpaccio, and eggplant salad. Both of which are amazing. Interesting flavors and textures. Followed by vodka rigatoni and meatballs (both iconic Carbone dishes) and just absolutely tasty. Right amount of portions and again they serve family style. By this time, we're pretty full and we're still awaiting for the veal Parmesan!!! The veal is tender and tasty as well. But the star for me is the meatballs and beef carpaccio. The dessert we had is classic tiramisu and it was divine. But they also had given us complementary Italian wedding cakes which are also delicious. Again I got no complaints for this particular experience. I was treated like a prince! And good vibes overall. The reservations can be quite tricky through resy, which it's all worthy!

DELICIOUS! I feel so lucky that we were able to snag a reservation here. A great place to celebrate for a special occasion. Carbone has a LOT of hype to live up to. Does it meet the hype? Yes. Does it surpass it? Ehhh, I don't think so. For me, this restaurant is one and done! If I had an opportunity to try it again, I'd be SOOO happy. With that being said, I wouldn't go super out of my way to eat here again. I'm just happy I got to dine there in the first place! The vibes of the restaurant are fantastic and the service is STELLAR!!! Truly some of the best service I've ever had. The staff was so kind, they felt like your friends! After speaking with our server, between my husband and I we ordered a half order of the meatballs, the veal parmesan, the spicy vodka rigatoni, and the lemon cheesecake. Our server definitely helped us make choices and led us in the right direction. We basically finished most of our food (BUT WE WERE SO STUFFED) and ended up taking some of the cheesecake home. They also served some complimentary garlic bread, salami, and fresh mozzarella as a starter. And they gave us a small slice of Italian cookie cake for dessert. Obviously, the star of the show was the spicy rigatoni! PURE PERFECTION. The pasta was cooked just right, the sauce was emulsified beautifully, and the balance of the sauce was great! I was surprised at how bright and acidic while also thick and creamy the sauce was. FANTASTIC! The veal parmesan was our next favorite! Crunchy and packed with flavor, a delicious entree. The meatballs were good but just not as memorable compared to the other two dishes. I would potentially skip this in the future. The lemon cheesecake was DELICIOUS. Lovely texture and the top layer of lemon was wonderfully zippy. A textbook delicious cheesecake!! Thank you Carbone for a memorble meal!

If there's anything I love, it's a good Italian spot--and Carbone is a New York classic. The food was delicious, though I definitely enjoyed some dishes more than others. There weren't any that I'd call bad, but not every dish felt worth the price. For example, the vodka pasta was easily my favorite and an absolute must-order. The Caesar salad, on the other hand, didn't justify its $30+ price tag. The restaurant itself is fairly small, seating only about ten parties, which creates an intimate ambiance and allows for very attentive service. Reservations are tough to get, so make sure you're on Resy right when they drop. If you don't have AMEX, your best bet is booking during off-peak hours--think around 2 p.m.

    Ask the Community - Carbone

Do they have a corking fee?

    Yes

Has anyone ever been here for lunch? I notice the menu is different. Thanks!

Yes! The menu is slightly different, but the best difference in my opinion is the complimentary mozzarella!

    Is Carbone child friendly?

Not really and it's a small space

    What year did Carbone open?

    March 2013

It says lunch ends at 2 but I have a res at 2, do they actually close at 2 like it says or will they still seat us?

I had reservations for 2pm and was confused as well! Don't worry, they will still seat you and I believe the kitchen just stops taking orders around 2:20pm.

I have a reservation for 11:30 pm which is when their business hours say they close. Will I still be served?

    You will not be served.

What day of the month does carbone open reservations?

Today is 8/26/25 and the next reservation on Resy is 9/25/25, so I believe 30 days in advance, but I typically call restaurants directly to be sure.

Do they seat people at the actual bar here? Like first come first served? (Dallas restaurant does)

They don't. Its very tiny and they don't have bar space for that.

Can I buy their pasta sauce in person at the restaurant?

No, they don't sell it their

    Do they have gf pasta?

Yes they do I had it two months ago

Reservations.. I am trying to find a reservation for weeks in advance and it says nothing is…

yes it's really booked- it's impossible to get reservations!! but they go live at 10am a month in advance. so tomorrow at 10am you'd be booking for August 7th. but have fast fingers ready because they go QUICK ( it's like winning a contest lol)

Are dogs allowed inside or on the patio?

    not allowed inside

Do you still need an Amex to sit on the patio?

    Nope

Is there a parking garage nearby?

Thompson Street Parking and SP+ should be the closest garages

Do you get complimentary cheese and rainbow cookies with lunch?

The cheese comes with the bread. You get a complimentary rainbow cookie.

    Is proof of vaccine required?

    Yes

Is there an option for takeout?

    No, they do not

I have a reservation for 7, but 2 people ended up cancelling. Will they seat the party of 5, or do I need to have exact numbers? (i can't call ahead, none of the numbers are working, i've emailed them)

Yes but I would call ahead and let them know

I can't get a reservation to save my life! Do they accept walk ins? I am trying to dine at 11:30am for lunch.

The best bet is to have Resy up at 9AM and keep hitting refresh every 15 minutes or so. I was able to snag a reservation the day of that way.

Trying to make a reservation on Resy, it seems that they have two locations now and I wouldn't know where I'm making the reservation at?

Make your reservation ASAP and once confirmed you can email info@carbonenewyork.com to confirm the location of your reservation. Resy should send you your confirmation with the address and restaurant info. I dined at both locations indoor recently… Read more

Baba Al Rum was also tasty, as was the Orecchiette. Rigatoni was salty, but well-flavored. I visited a popular Italian restaurant from the Union Square Hospitality group with a group of five others. The restaurant is quite large, and although it was somewhat noisy, the tables were spaced apart enough that it was easy to hear everyone. We had an early dinner at 5:45 PM, which took quite a while, but I didn't mind. To drink, I went with the Bitter Giuseppe for $19, with Cynar 45.3, Punt e Mes, lemon, and sea salt. I'm a fan of most Negronis, and this was a particularly bitter version. The bit of lemon and sea salt added a unique but enjoyable flavor at the end, though in retrospect, the salt probably wasn't super necessary. Two of us split, and eventually, a few of us ordered their signature appetizer, the $18 Cast Iron Focaccia, with tomato conserva, a mixture of crushed tomatoes, olive oil, and Calabrian chili. The bread was fresh and warm, albeit a tad oily and salty, but it paired wonderfully with the conserva. As someone who doesn't like it when bread is extra, this was delicious and worth it. Another person ordered the $18 Insalata Verde. It was very large, but fairly basic, with a vinaigrette that had a citrusy and mustardy flavor. There was also the Caramelized Onion Torta for $27, which was very large, as expected for the price point. It had a creamy and tangy flavor from the Pecorino Toscano with some sweetness from the onion. It was delicious, but very heavy, and I would recommend that around three or four people split it alongside the focaccia. Finally, there was also the $15 Pizza Bianca, which was easily the smallest of all the plates, but they still enjoyed it. My main dish was the Orecchiette for $26, with ramps, pistachio, and pecorino. Like most of their dishes, the portion size was quite large, with plenty of pasta, which was perfectly cooked. The ramps added a touch of sweetness, although I would have liked a few more nuts. Additionally, there was almost too much pecorino, which made the dish slightly salty, but it was still enjoyable. As a side, I got the $19 Grilled Asparagus with dates, vermouth, and blue cheese, which came with many pieces of lightly charred asparagus. While there was plenty of funky blue cheese, I would have preferred more dates. Two of the others got the Rigatoni Alla Gricia for $30. The portion was large, and I tried a bit while they tried mine. The noodles were again cooked perfectly, and while there was a lot of guanciale, this was easily the saltiest of all the dishes. For dessert, I chose their Baba AU Rum for $18, which was uniquely mixed with chocolate and orange. The presentation was a bit off, as it looked like a certain emoji, but the flavor made up for it. The subtle hint of rum paired with the bitter-sweet chocolate and orange. The dark chocolate-covered orange slice on top was a nice touch as well. Someone else got a tart, and one other person got the Gelati, which resulted in one of the only faults during service. She heard it was two scoops, and ordered espresso stracciatella and hazelnut, but was given two separate orders for $12 each. The gelato was good, but unlike most things, definitely not worth it for the price. I liked the appetizers much more, but I found the food good overall. Tasty dessert, and the portions make up at least a bit for the relatively higher prices.

We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.

Water and excellent bread arrived immediately and the waiter was helpful describing dishes and giving advice. Salads were fresh and crisp. Caesar was nicely dressed and the mixed salad was a nice combination with well balanced herb vinaigrette. Seafood dishes had large amounts of fresh seafood and the veal picatta had the lemony flavor you expect without excessive acidity. Dessert was tasty and innovative. The ricotta based cheese cake wasn't as smooth as the cream cheese form but the citrus flavor was great. Throughout the meal water and bread were refilled, plates from completed courses removed and next delivered without being overly hovering. All in all a really great meal.

I read the reviews mostly good so I was hoping for the best. My friends and I were not disappointed. The first thing I noticed was there were 7 people in my party and 4 arrived early and did not have to wait for my arrival to be seated. Second the waiter who took our order was polite and on point with specials and knowledge of the menu. He (just never caught his name) suggested the Rigatoni which chicken and sausage. I am not really a pasta eater but baby that dish could change that; it was DELICIOUS. I even liked the anchovy dressing on my Caesar Salad and I dislike anchovies. All the dishes ordered (chicken parm, mussels chicken paillard etc.) everyone enjoyed them immensely. The only negative was when the Chicken Paiikard arrived it was supposed to a shared dish by the elderly couple and they asked for regular dinner plates from one of the servers. It took the gentleman who took our order to step in and said sure, lucky their food was still hot. Common Sense is not so common for all. But this will not lower my rating as it was taken care of swiftly. The portions were the perfect size and I was not stuffed but pleasantly satified. We told them the time of our show, food was out quickly, nicely presented, still hot and very tasty. The restaurant was not noisy and had space between the tables. It also had an elevator for those who could not manage stairs. Trattoria Trecolori you will be added to my must go again list! Thank for a wonderful experience!
