Food was great, but the delays in service left a bit to be desired. We made a reservation for the a la carte menu in the lower level bar seating area. We were seated promptly and service was friendly. First, our order of meatballs and artichokes came out quickly. Very tasty, but the star of the show was really the pasta here. Unfortunately, we waited at least 30 minutes after finishing our first two dishes before our pastas started coming out. The cacio e pepe and carbonara came out next. Their cacio e pepe was amazing. I'm normally not a fan of it but the flavors and simplicity blew my mind. The carbonara was solid. Unfortunately, after these two dishes we experienced another long wait before our agnolotti and amatriciana came out (which were both tasty as well!). The tiramisu was tasty but the cacio e pepe was still the highlight for me. Hopefully just a one off with the service delays but otherwise I would definitely return just for the cacio e pepe!

Mangia! Our favorite meal in Rome has quickly become our favorite meal in the City. So hot right now, Hansel-only counter seating for us. No worries there was more than enough space for our feast and they made the best use of it. We started with an excellent dealers choice cheese plate, caponata and bread basket. My wife had the Amatriciana she loves and I had what continues to be the very best Carbonara. Finished with Tiramisu and wondered when we can get back here again.

Came here on a Wednesday and it was fairly busy for the Roman Feast. If you're there for the tasting menu you head downstairs. The space is medium sized with a good amount of tables for 4. I sat with my friend at a booth. We tried the classic wine pairing with it and it def enhanced the experience. They also have an additional 2 dishes that are specials if you want to try additional seasonal items but the general tasting menu is a lot. Def come hungry! I felt like everything was prepared well. The pastas were perfect texture and the meat was very tender. My favorite of the night was Amatriciana Pasta! Overall, had a great experience with friendly staff. Would def come back again! It's a great way to share food in a large party for the holidays

They have a service called the Roman Feast which provides you with a four course meal (appetizers, mains and dessert). You can also add wine pairings to each dish. The concept is family style which is pretty unique for a prix fixe meal. They also add some additional dishes as a surprise which was fun! My favorite was the tiramisu which was so so good

This is a tiny restaurant and the max rsvp is 5 people. They have seating at the street level and then additional seats in the lower level for the prixe fixe. We sat literally next to the entrance. It was a very uncomfortable seating arrangement for 5 people. Luckily we were able to squeeze onto the bench since our 5th person was a kid. We ordered the Cheese Monger's choice board for $34. It had three different types of cheeses, four thin slices of two, and a little bit of a soft cheese. They were all pretty mild and crowd pleasing. No funky ones. It came with some honey, but no bread. We also ordered the sun-dried tomato burrata for $24. It came with NO bread. We had to order bread separately for $8. The bread was hard, stale and tasted like it was pre-cut for dinner service. Very disappointed with the amount of food and quality vs. cost. The cacio e pepe - it was gummy as other reviewers noted. It should be smooth and warm when served. It was cold. The amatriciana was not notable. We also ordered the fish (PESCE E FAGIOLI ZOLFINI), which was also not notable. The fish tasted it was thawed too quickly from a frozen slab. Tiramisu was standard. A little too much cream for me. Probably will not return.

Roscioli began in Rome in 1974 and still runs several beloved spots there. In 2023, it opened its first (and only) location outside Italy on MacDougal Street in Soho, NYC. We sat upstairs in the cozy à la carte room, which is small and intimate, with a little shop selling cheeses, olive oils, pastas, and merchandise to take home. (Downstairs offers a five-course set menu, The Roman Feast). We started with burrata with semi-dried tomatoes and fried artichokes, both apps great. The cacio e pepe and carbonara we split were al dente, peppery, and rich. Service was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind. Simple Roman classics done just right.

Restaurant from Rome (they are on the @michelinguide over there) right here in NYC. The restaurant is really cute with the Italian pantry items (always lured me in). Our favorite ended up being the artichoke appetizer! Note that there are not many vegan or vegetarian options here!

Had such a great experience doing 'THE ROMAN FEAST' at Roscioli. Roman Feast: $95 (no beverage) + $55 (Standard wine pairing add-on) before tax and tip. This included five courses with five wine pairings. The food was absolutely amazing! Like most pre-fixe, you never think the portions they serve will be enough, but trust me when I say we left absolutely stuffed! If you see more than 5 courses it is also because they did throw in a few extra breads and cheeses. The experience was great too. Our waitress was so amicable and knowledgeable about the foods and wines that were being served. The place is cute. Upstairs seems a bit more casual but still elegant if that makes sense. Downstairs definitely has a more elegant feel to it. Will definitely come back and try their regular menu next time!

walked in for one on a tuesday night and was promptly seated at the counter. unsure if it was an off day but the carbonara was extremely bland. sauce was silky but had almost no taste, just a mild funk probably from the pecorino. i was chasing around the scant bits of cheese and guanciale on my plate for a hit of sodium. pasta also could've been a bit more al dente. the two olive oils they serve with their focaccia are great but don't save the meal. restaurant is cozy, tables are packed closely.

Had my birthday at Roscioli and did the Roman Feast with the wine pairing. Let me tell ya, they did not lie about the "feast" part There are only two other times in my life where I've been so painfully full. Everything was SO delicious too. Would definitely come again - probably the best priced multi-course menu in all of NYC

Spaghettoni alla carbonara

I stopped by for a weekday lunch by myself - they were pretty busy (even around 2pm) but I was able to get seated at the bar without much of a wait. I had the supplì al telefono to start - really delicious! The breading was great -- not too crispy/oily -- and complemented the delicious inside filling (rice, beef, mozzarella) wonderfully. Definitely would recommend this as an appetiser. For pasta I had the spaghettoni alla carbonara (which I think is their speciality)? The most notable part is that the sauce is very "Roman", i.e. they don't add cream to it, so the mixture of just egg and cheese is much thicker/creamier and saltier. I think it was really too rich/heavy - by the end of the dish it felt like every bite was overwhelming :( The guanciale was nice -- I liked the bold, savoury flavour -- but definitely contributed to the overall feeling of saltiness throughout. Other than that, I have to say the pasta was cooked perfectly (al dente), which I appreciated. Restaurant interior was lovely -- feels very intimate and "home-y" -- and service was kind, attentive, and very prompt. Price point is a little high but it's not too bad for a splurge (esp by NYC standards). I'd definitely recommend giving it a visit (if you can snag a res), and I'd love to come back -- but I'd probably try a different pasta next time :P

Tasting menu review: I don't know what Roscioli in Rome is doing, but its New York sibling isn't trying very hard. This was the blandest, most boring tasting menu I've ever had the misfortune of spending money on, and I'm annoyed I came. In a nutshell: The tasting menu food is too traditional to be interesting, and too mediocre to do justice to tradition. So what you're left with are dishes of overpriced cliches. - Complimentary mortadella sandwich: This was fine, but nothing I would've spent money on, so I appreciated that it was free. - Burrata Pomodori with Fried Artichoke: I guess they source their burrata from Italy, but given that it's dairy and local dairy is always fresher/healthier than imported dairy, I don't think that's something worth bragging about. This burrata was fine, if a bit too runny, and the fried artichoke hearts were forgettable. - Sicilian Red Prawns, Ossetra Caviar, Pane Carasau: We decided to fork over an extra $32 to try this upgrade. It was literally one prawn, cut in half, with caviar on top. About one spot higher than Coqodaq's $35 single chicken nugget on my list of "Single food items I've wasted money on". - Lasagna Modenese: Delicious and hearty. I wish every course had just been like this. - Mezze Maniche alla Pomodoro: Basically rigatoni in watery tomato sauce, but I guess if you slap on fancy Italian names, people will think it's more exotic than it is. Repeat after me: rigatoni in watery tomato sauce. And not even cooked well. - Misticanza + Roasted Squash / Short Rib: Basically, salad with your choice of main. The salad was just typical packaged greens made limp from dressing. We opted to get both main options to try more things. The squash was tiny, too sweet and barely seasoned with anything. The short rib was equally tiny, though cooked better than the squash. And this is their main course? - Complimentary parmigiana with aged balsamic vinegar: A nice thought, but I can't eat that much parmesan, and the balsamic vinegar tasted like port. Not my bag. - Tiramisu: Really? Tiramisu for dessert? I get it, it's an Italian classic. But this is one of those desserts that's so overdone, it's an eye-rolling cliche for me. So I rolled my eyes over to their alternative dessert , a blood orange / grapefruit sorbet, which was mildly better. Service was friendly, but our courses came out very inconsistently, with long waits after the first two dishes, leading us to spend far more time at the restaurant than we wanted. In short, I won't be putting Roscioli on my list on my next trip to Rome.

Love the vibe here - everything is super well designed and it has an upscale casual feel. The appetizers were great - the suppli was perfect and the jamon was some of the best I've had. However, I expected a bit more out of the pastas. The cacio e pepe was good, but nothing extraordinary (Via Carota is better imo) and same for the amatriciana. It was well flavored but I wouldn't go back for it especially at $29 a plate. For dessert we had the tiramisu which was really nice! They also have some nice wines and the service is great. Overall, worth a one time visit but considering the high price point I won't be running back.

We went in December night of 2024 so some aspects of the menu have changed however, most of the dishes still appear to be on their menu as of now, June 2026. It appears most changes comes to the type of pasta used in a dish, aspects around a dishes main focus and gelato/dessert flavors. Everything we ordered was an 8 or above out of 10. The beet salad (BARBABIETOLE) is easily 10/10 and a top 3 salad we have ever had. The chocolate cake with gelato (TORTINO DI CIOCCOLATO) was 10/10 and the best dessert we had at Da Andrea. We ordered 3 total, including the ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu. Tuna Tartare, gorgonzola pasta and bolognese are 9's. The fritto misto, the other pasta we ordered and the other 2 desserts are 8's. If you're in New York make reservations and go. My Wife found this place and made reservations. Only thing I regret after looking at additional photos is not ordering the grilled pork chop.

Baba Al Rum was also tasty, as was the Orecchiette. Rigatoni was salty, but well-flavored. I visited a popular Italian restaurant from the Union Square Hospitality group with a group of five others. The restaurant is quite large, and although it was somewhat noisy, the tables were spaced apart enough that it was easy to hear everyone. We had an early dinner at 5:45 PM, which took quite a while, but I didn't mind. To drink, I went with the Bitter Giuseppe for $19, with Cynar 45.3, Punt e Mes, lemon, and sea salt. I'm a fan of most Negronis, and this was a particularly bitter version. The bit of lemon and sea salt added a unique but enjoyable flavor at the end, though in retrospect, the salt probably wasn't super necessary. Two of us split, and eventually, a few of us ordered their signature appetizer, the $18 Cast Iron Focaccia, with tomato conserva, a mixture of crushed tomatoes, olive oil, and Calabrian chili. The bread was fresh and warm, albeit a tad oily and salty, but it paired wonderfully with the conserva. As someone who doesn't like it when bread is extra, this was delicious and worth it. Another person ordered the $18 Insalata Verde. It was very large, but fairly basic, with a vinaigrette that had a citrusy and mustardy flavor. There was also the Caramelized Onion Torta for $27, which was very large, as expected for the price point. It had a creamy and tangy flavor from the Pecorino Toscano with some sweetness from the onion. It was delicious, but very heavy, and I would recommend that around three or four people split it alongside the focaccia. Finally, there was also the $15 Pizza Bianca, which was easily the smallest of all the plates, but they still enjoyed it. My main dish was the Orecchiette for $26, with ramps, pistachio, and pecorino. Like most of their dishes, the portion size was quite large, with plenty of pasta, which was perfectly cooked. The ramps added a touch of sweetness, although I would have liked a few more nuts. Additionally, there was almost too much pecorino, which made the dish slightly salty, but it was still enjoyable. As a side, I got the $19 Grilled Asparagus with dates, vermouth, and blue cheese, which came with many pieces of lightly charred asparagus. While there was plenty of funky blue cheese, I would have preferred more dates. Two of the others got the Rigatoni Alla Gricia for $30. The portion was large, and I tried a bit while they tried mine. The noodles were again cooked perfectly, and while there was a lot of guanciale, this was easily the saltiest of all the dishes. For dessert, I chose their Baba AU Rum for $18, which was uniquely mixed with chocolate and orange. The presentation was a bit off, as it looked like a certain emoji, but the flavor made up for it. The subtle hint of rum paired with the bitter-sweet chocolate and orange. The dark chocolate-covered orange slice on top was a nice touch as well. Someone else got a tart, and one other person got the Gelati, which resulted in one of the only faults during service. She heard it was two scoops, and ordered espresso stracciatella and hazelnut, but was given two separate orders for $12 each. The gelato was good, but unlike most things, definitely not worth it for the price. I liked the appetizers much more, but I found the food good overall. Tasty dessert, and the portions make up at least a bit for the relatively higher prices.

We finished with the famous olive oil cake, which we loved for its subtly sweet, moist and tender bite. Served with lightly whipped cream and raisins, the combination was surprisingly delicious. We were also touched by the complimentary anniversary scoop of ice cream. The interior seating is a bit snug, but the decor is beautiful--elegant yet homey. The service was good as well. Overall, we highly recommend L'Artusi for a special night out!

L'Artusi has been on my radar for a while, ever since I heard it was a hot spot and saw reviews of…read moreit being one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. Being Italian American, I'm hypercritical of spots like these - but nevertheless the positive reviews were overwhelming so I wanted to check it out for myself. One of my friends and I were looking to catch up, so I booked a table and off we went. While it can be tricky to get a reservation during prime dinner time, it's relatively easy to get a lunch reservation - or an early/late dinner. I managed to get a reservation for dinner at 9:15pm which was the earliest I could find. The restaurant is pretty unassuming on the outside - it looks like a converted brownstone and once inside we were greeted by a large space with a sceney vibe. The space is split between two levels with a large bar up front and a semi-open kitchen in the back. The decor was modern - with lots of greys and neutral tones which was a little unexpected. The main star of the menu is pasta, but they also have a few non-pasta mains as well as some crudo selections, apps, and sides. We decided to get a few apps, two pastas, and one side. To start, we went with the octopus, roasted mushrooms, burrata crostone, and focaccia. These were all really good, but my favorite was the mushrooms. I'm usually not a fan of mushrooms but these were prepared with red pepper and fried egg and were delicious; it cut through the earthiness and changed the texture to something I really enjoyed. The focaccia was also a standout - it's house made and was paired with a peppery oil that complemented the bread well. For mains we split two pastas - the caccio e pepe and the rigatoni. Both of these were very good, though I felt the rigatoni was the stronger dish. It was prepared with sausage ragu, soppressata, broccoli rabe pesto, and pecorino. The flavors worked really well together and the pasta was cooked al dente. The caccio e pepe was perfectly fine, I just feel it's been overplayed and didn't feel there was anything that stood out amongst the others I've tried. We also got a broccoli rabe as a side which was great. We couldn't leave without dessert and decided to get their olive oil cake and quattro formaggio cheesecake. The restaurant is known for the former - it was perfectly fine but I've had olive oil cakes elsewhere of the same or better quality. The cheesecake was the stronger dessert IMO - the combination of cheeses gave it an interesting, almost savory flavor. The brûlée top and mascerated strawberries were great texture and flavor complements. Service was great - the place was packed but service was consistently on point and everyone was friendly. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Artusi. While everything was very good, I'm struggling to find the exact reason why this place became such a hot spot compared to other Italian spots in the city. Nevertheless, you'll have a good meal here and I would definitely return if given the opportunity.
