Amazing service! The breakfast food is delicious! I will definitely be coming back here!!!

First, let me tell you, very rarely do you find a place that has 5 stars, that actually is worth the 5 stars. This place is one them. It's about a mile off Hwy. 99 surrounded by open fields. The food is amazing. We had the chicken fried steak, which must have been invented here because it's the best we ever had. Everything tasted as fresh as can be including the bacon and eggs. The service was fantastic and we were greeted by Carla who you can't miss since she has the prettiest smile and the friendliest personality. Came in 4/3/24 upon a friends suggestion. Didn't really know what to expect. Quiet little place. A few tables and some booths and the counter where we sat. I was told the biscuits and gravy were a must-try. We both went with the half hot mess. Biscuits and gravy, with crispy hash browns and a mild or spicy sausage patty. Absolutely delicious. The waitresses were super hospitable and were slightly amazed that it was our first time at there. It definitely won't be my last, I'm coming back for that Philly cheese steak. read more

So my son and I met my oldest son at Carla's for breakfast on Saturday. Now my oldest is a regular here I've only had it once for take out the day after New Years I had a major hangover Lol so my son brought me the most fantastic spicy sausage omelette and I remember how good that was to this day!! So he's been bugging me like crazy "mom why the hell don't you go to Carla's it's the best!" Well yes it's the best,,literally to me THE BEST breakfast in town!! Carla is the sweetest person greeted us with a smile and bam the yummiest cup of coffee...my son comes here weekly most of the time and I now know why. Hahaha he and his wife literally crawl out of bed and go like that that's how comfy they are here!! Nope I'd never do that Lol I'm coming with make up on hehehe but wow sooo freakin delicious! My 16 year old got the French toast breakfast and I got the sausage omelette and added onions, peppers and mushrooms with hash browns (OMG those are like crack browns!!). Not kidding you buttery, crispy, fluffy perfection. I decided to go all the way and have biscuit and gravy (you have a choice of several items) those are the lightest, fluffiest biscuits I've had at a restaurant and the creamiest flavourful gravy, we also got an order of bacon because ummm BACON IS LIFE!! And because my other son basically told me to Lol he said mom you have to get extra bacon trust me you'll thank me...Yup we fought over it so here's some advice get 2 orders of bacon if you have several people at your table. I wanna know where she gets that bacon from just so yummy! My son took a bite of his French toast and was like mom you must take a bite now! Of course I did yep the perfect French toast all I can say... Another great breakfast! When we arrived on Saturday just after 8am, there was exactly one empty table. We grabbed it & waited for it to be cleaned. Our server was very nice, although very busy. I ordered a biscuit & gravy, two eggs scrambled with cheese, and avocado. It was perfect! The gravy was sausage-y, although it didn't have a lot of chunky meat in it. The biscuit was soft and fell apart in the gravy. They were generous with the cheese and avo. I did note that after about 5 minutes, the dish had turned cold, so I finished it that way. It was still good. My wife had a pancake with a side of potatoes and fruit. The potatoes were nice & crunchy, but she would have liked more flavor, maybe the addition of onions or peppers. The fruit was bananas, pears, and apples, and they were all fresh and perfectly ripe. She loved that! My son had the Full Hot Mess, a plate of biscuits and gravy with hash browns and a sausage patty. He ordered the patty spicy, and really liked that. He would have preferred the hash browns on the side, but overall he said it was an 8 out of 10 breakfast. They have exactly one bathroom stall for everyone. My wife stepped in to use it, and the previous occupant had peed all over everything. It was gross, although not Carla's fault. We told Carla, and she was instantly in there cleaning it. This is indicative of Carla's commitment to quality. We'll be back! read more

Once you walk into this beautiful cafe you are greeted and everyone has a smile they make you feel like your walking into grandmas kitchen n feeling so warm n cozy inside. You can smell the bacon and sausage from outside which makes you know that breakfast is being cooked and this place has the best biscuits and Garvey in town hands down. I recommend this place to everyone I know and I sell paparazzi so I have my team meetings here and the ladies love this place. I have been to Carla's many times for years, I've never had a bad meal and the service is always great, The chicken fried steak is the best I've ever had anywhere, the fried eggs always come out just like I order them. On the road early....where to stop for breakfast? CARLA'S !! Food was great ... served up by Carla herself. Hubby had Chicken Fried Steak & Eggs with Biscuits and Gravy ... said it was yummy. Daughter had Eggs over easy with Biscuits and Gravy. Lots of gravy!!!! Smothered. Since I can never decide I had two breakfasts, sort of. French Toast was one of the best ever. My wife and I were traveling and decided to give Carla's a go. When we walked in every table was full and the only place to sit was at the counter which doesn't bother us at all. I had this place bookmarked, but forgot about it. Husband and I aren't able to get breakfast together very often, so we jumped at the chance to after our early morning errand. The place is small, but doesn't feel cramped. Decor is a mish-mash of old-time/western decor. There's a huge Longhorn on the wall, which is kind of comical. Waitresses were extremely welcoming and friendly. We were greeted and seated as soon as we walked in the door. Overheard them greeting regulars after us, just nice to hear that wholesomeness. Husband had coffee, I had water. Water was good, considering most waters taste like tap water, this one didn't. I ordered a short stack, and half order of a biscuit and gravy, with hash browns and sausage patty. Husband ordered the spicy sausage patty, with 2 eggs, country potatoes and a biscuit and gravy. It was amazing to have all my favorites on one plate. I'm slightly allergic to eggs, and they're not a favorite anyway, soninwas glad to see eggs weren't even an option for my dish. Portions are spot on, some might say small, but I ate half, and 3/4 of one pancake, and was done. Husband ate all his, minus the biscuit and gravy. Now the food itself. What a true local eatery serving up some of the best breakfast in town. Carla's hidden way down on South Union is probably one of the very best in food and service for breakfast. Carla herself will be making sure you have everything you need. Whenever I want some homemade sausage I tend to go here. Carla make's a really and not overly spicy hot sausage patty. She suggest to have the chef to cook it on the crisp side which was spot on. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak with gravy. This was yummy. Nice generous portion of a lightly breaded chicken fried steak. She did go with the biscuit but decided to just dip it in the extra gravy on her plate. Both were great. Pretty amazing spot for a stop along your road trip! My fiancee and I were headed back up from Southern California and needed a place to stop in for food. Carla, presumably the woman behind the counter, was busy icing a cake when we walked in. We grabbed a seat at a booth. I watched in amazement that she finished up icing the cake in a few minutes with near perfect precision. She was pretty amazing at it, and quick to boot. The fiancee decided on a breakfast plate with bacon. I tried a bit of the bacon and it was very good. He also loved the potatoes on the side. I got the mushroom Swiss burger with all the produce on it. I know some people don't like getting produce on their mushroom Swisses, but I love it! (I'm all about eating veggies, so sue me!) She asked me if I wanted the produce instead of just not including it, so that is a definite plus in my book. The burger came out cooked and seasoned well, with a very good side of potato salad. Tasted homemade! If you're swinging by the Bakersfield area, this place is worth a visit, for sure! Nothing fancy, not stuffy... Just a good spot to stop for good meal. read more
