This has to be one of the, if not the best barbecue joint in Cypress. Every time I come here it never disappoints, I highly recommend this establishment due to not only the very tasty mouthwatering food, but the friendly costumer service that's always ready to aid in any way when it comes to the experience. 4 stars because the staff's service is too fast to be good. It's like they want to get you out the door even though they are not that crowded all the time. This place reminds me of Bubba's Burger Shack off SW frwy cause its located off of 290 freeway in a small wooden building that could pass for a trailer if you see it from a far, but looks can be deceiving! The food.... oh my lord.. the food is amazing! The sauce is delicious and sweet and reminds me of baked beans, the hot baked potato salad is to die for. The brisket is out of this world. I've made several trips to Carl's for family birthdays and get-togethers which has given them another star. We had a family party for our 11 year old where we hauled in presents, cupcakes and ice cream cups. We sat in the back room and everyone had a great time. The kids love all the "dead" animals on the wall. We were able to let people go through the line and get what they wanted and didn't break the bank. I still think their meat and all the way baked potatoes are the best. The best sides are the fried okra and fries. The mashed potatoes have an odd quality and taste. I think I've decided that they use green bean juice in them. Seriously. Like I said, the meat is the bomb. The people who work there are friendly and helpful. I'm liking this place more and more. Maybe next time I'll be able to give them another star. I'm willing to keep eating to try to get there. Come on Carl's keep making those delectable ribs for me! read more

Love their ribs here, not so much their sausage, their brisket is alright. They have plenty of selection here if you don't like bbq, from chicken fried steak, ribeye steak, hamburger, salad to po-boys.... so you won't get out from this place hungry When I moved to Houston from LA, this is the first place I ate texas bbq & the place scream texas! Carl's BBQ is a Cypress tradition. It's been around as long as I have been in Cypress and probably much older by some of the stuff on the walls. This place has always been 100% consistent. For Thanksgiving this year my daughter and I decided to order a brisket from Carl's Bar-B- Q. We have eaten there before and enjoyed what we had, but never had the brisket. We were excited to get it and very disappointed when we served it for Thanksgiving. It was tough and had absolutely no flavor at all. First time experiencing this BBQ place. I was told the potato casserole was awesome...I personally didnt care for it, I tasted too much sour which was sour cream, it could have been more cheesy but wasnt. I had the chopped spud which was loaded with beef, chives, shredded cheese and sour cream oh and BBQ sauce. It was great and very filling I thought the BBQ sauce should have been served seperate. As far as the deco it had an outside patio, roomy dining area and self serve fountain drinks. Clean. They also had a variety of bottled sodas. We have been customers for over 20 years. Carl's is by far our favorite barbecue restaurant, and during the pandemic we have been ordering from our independent favorites. Unfortunately, during the pandemic the link sausage has been inconsistent. Sometimes they have the delicious link sausage I have been getting for 20 years-just like sausage on a stick at the rodeo. Other times, like today, they have some other sausage that is not at all the same. Different consistency and spices are average at best. I think I would do better buying sausage in a package at the grocery store. Hoping this is just an issue of supply, and they will be back to the original sausage all the time soon. read more

Potato salad was flavorful, brisket done just right, sausage was delicious and cole slaw was perfect. Where do I start. Got home late from work and had to feed 5 grown people. Decided to use waitr and order food. Not only was it EASY but it was extremely fast. Food was perfect. To use delicious I feel is just not a good enough word. Needless to say this place is amazing. Ordered 5 different meals and all were perfect. When I crave BBQ this will be my go to place. Just not the mind blowing BBQ we were hoping for. The brisket was dry and lacked a good solid smoke ring and rich black outer bark. Our impression was of a rushed mass production of beef, instead of feeding that slab of meat with delicate love and attention in order to draw out the very best peeked possible flavor. The RIBS were the tastiest meat of the 4 ordered, with the link sausage coming in 2nd. The pork had very little flavor and it too was on the dry side. The green beans were stringy and soggy but the MAC-n-Cheese was to die for. If I am in the area I would consider swinging by for a pint or 2 of the MAC but I won't be spending my money on anymore of their Q; simply no bang for the buck. Blah. read more

Excellent BBQ. Ribs, brisket, sausage links, pulled pork, sauce, and chicken are all good. But if you want something that is really good, get The CHOWDOWN. An enormous genetically enhanced potato stuffed with all the basics plus pulled pork and topped with their famous BBQ sauce. read more

Excellent bbq but extremely slow at f there are more than 2 people in front of you. I will never go here again at lunch. Stood in lime for over 10 min and the only served 3 people and there were still 8 or so in front of me . At that rate, I would have been late getting back to work after lunch. We just moved to Cypress from Dallas and had a taste for a good stuffed potato. I really wanted Carl's to be our new place. The customer service was good and the food was ready pretty fast. Unfortunately it feel short on smoke flavor and lack of brisket. I guess we will get our fix win we go back home to get some Winner's BBQ. read more

I hate giving bad reviews to places with good food, but this place is ridiculously overpriced. I ordered a pulled pork sandwich, a very small side of green beans and a drink...$14.02. Low key in every way, from decor, service, and food. You order at the counter and take it to the table yourself. The food is served on paper plates. The drink dispensers are self-service. The decor is not even kitschy. There are various "Texas type" things on the walls, such as horse shoes and beer signs. Some of the chairs have torn vinyl upholstery. Horrible!!! The one in Waller was so bad that my dog wouldn't even eat the leftovers that we brought him. I couldn't believe how bad it was. Not to mention it made both the boyfriend and I sick afterwards. I don't know how on Earth anyone thinks that's good BBQ. read more
