Carl's Jr, Oakhurst: 2021 Sep 10 It's quite rare that we eat 'fast food', but we have been busy - so we decided to try the local Carl's Jr. I, for one, have never had CJ before - so I was excited to try something new. Philly Cheesesteak: A cheesesteak is a sandwich made from thinly sliced pieces of beefsteak and melted cheese in a long hoagie roll. Its roots came from the US city of Philadelphia - hence, Philly Cheesesteak. According to a 1987 exhibition catalog published by the Historical Society of Philadelphia, the cheesesteak was developed in the early 20th century "by combining beef, onions, and cheese in a small loaf of bread". Slices of cheese are placed over the meat, letting it melt, then the roll is placed on top of the cheese. The mixture is then scooped up with a spatula and pressed into the roll, which is then cut in half - and sautéed onions, ketchup, hot sauce, salt and black pepper completes the sandwich roll. I enjoyed the taste but felt something was missing. For one, the sandwich didn't come in a roll - it was in a bun. The bun had a plasticky after-taste. Even so, I handed this a 4 of 5. Double Western Burger: I find the entire meal disgusting. The meat was dry and lacked seasoning. I think they 'over-broiled' the meat, the onion rings weren't crispy at all and the bacon was limp as can be. 1 of 5 Fries: The aroma of stale cooking oil hit our nose when we received the meal in the car. The fries were tasteless. 1 of 5. Strawberry Shake: I wanted Vanilla Shake - but I'm glad I changed my mind. The strawberry shake tasted like icy water with a hint of strawberry extract. Not good. 1 of 5. I feel we got robbed of $28.73 for the unforgiving food we received.

Hoping their manager sees this and knows what great employees they have. Thanks guys.

Dang. I'm surprised to read any negative reviews here. I came here multiple times during my Yosemite vacation. Drive thru only. These visits were so memorable that even as I got back home 5 hours away, I knew I had to leave a review. Jacoby, Sebastian, Bryan, thank you for taking care of us during our stay. You guys have some type of southern hospitality that I've never seen at any other drive thru. You spoke clearly, slowly, patiently, asked even if I wanted dessert. At the window you asked if I needed condiments. Handed me the food and STILL asked if there anything else that I needed. Happily gave me a cup of ice water when I sheepishly asked for one. I wish I coulda recorded you guys. On the last visit, my husband came with me and I said "watch this. These are the nicest guys I've ever seen at a drive thru." And you didn't disappoint. My husband was like "was that for real? These dudes r extra pleasant." Here's the receipts. I want the managers to see this and know that they have some prize employees. Bravo for whatever training you gave them.

Check for discount offers inside and posted on the windows. This deal will save you about $4.50.

It is fast food time for breakfast before heading out to Yosemite National Park. Some of the food was hot when delivered to our table. One item was warm. I can recommend the Sausage, Egg, and Biscuit. It is a served like a sandwich. It was about 4 1/2" in diameter. Be sure to check for specials. They are posted on the Menu Board and on posters on the outside windows. One of the deals on the outside window was not posted within the restaurant. It was for two Sausage, Egg, and Biscuits for $2.50. One cost about $3.50, so that is a saving of $4.50. Not bad at all. If you contribute $1 or more to veterans and their family you will receive 4 discount coupons. Please see the discount in my attached photo. All of the tables were clean. There are three TVs running ads for Carl's Jr.'s and the other two were turned off.

Our family had fish tacos and chimay beer, fish and chips orale beer, and beet salad with coke. My fish on the tacos were perfectly lightly battered and probably better than home (Tucson). I think I'd personally prefer an actually patty so I can get medium instead of smashed which is more medium-well or well done. The smash fries were also good. Partner said the fried ended up getting pretty soggy since a lot of sauce ended up on the bottom. I personally liked them. Ingredients all tasted fresh. Odd thing to stand out, but the Coke here was so good. It's rare to get a really good Coke now and days, but this was perfect. Server was good and friendly. The space is very bar like and a little dark for my liking, but hey that's me. Still will come by after every trip here:) thank you for the fresh ingredients and friendliness.

Going to a little town we weren't sure what we would get, but whoever runs this place and the chef is definitely care about quality of food. We had a pretty big party and called ahead to let them know. Everyone had something different, but everything tasted amazing. Great clam chowder Steak cooked perfectly with good flavor Salmon was delicious Wings were cooked perfect Kids finished both kids meals which if you know kids it's usually a couple of bites and "I'm done" I would recommend this place to anyone traveling through here. Service was decent, and the ambiance was nice, but overall the experience was just okay. The Peruvian pretzel was actually pretty darn good and probably one of the highlights of the meal. The biggest disappointment, and the main reason I'm giving three stars, was the oysters. If I could rate the oysters separately, I would give them zero stars. They were probably some of the worst-tasting oysters I've ever had. They tasted extremely fishy and did not seem fresh at all. We ordered a dozen and definitely regretted ordering that many. The dipping sauce that came with them was very good, but for the price this restaurant charges, the oysters should absolutely taste fresh. I also would not recommend the mac and cheese. It looked more like something that came out of a box than freshly made restaurant mac and cheese. If you're ordering for kids, I'd probably choose the pasta with tomato sauce instead. There were some good things about the meal, especially the pretzel and the atmosphere, but between the oysters, the mac and cheese, the long wait for food, and the prices, three stars feels fair.

(5 of 5) Fish & Chips: Today's classic dish of the British Isles has a good crunch on the batter and a delicate buttery interior, but could use more seasoning. The potato chips were managed and fried well. A dash of salt put this over the top. The coleslaw had a different texture and taste that I'm not familiar with so I'm not a fan. (4 of 5) Mushroom Swiss Burger (1/3 pound ground beef patty seasoned, topped with mushroom, swiss cheese & grilled onion on a brioche bun): The warm, buttery sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese add a creamy texture that marries well with the savoury beef patty. Together, they created a smooth, velvety mouthfeel. (5 of 5) Lemonade: My lemonade was refreshing - with enough acidity and sweetness. (5 of 5) Ice-cream: Not just any ice-cream, but Thrifty Ice-Cream. I remember going to Thrifty just to get their ice-cream. The Hitching Post carries 12 flavours of Thrifty ice cream. We had the Chocolate and Butter Pecan in large waffle cones. Most ice-cream these days are overly sweet - and that's all you taste - just plain sugar. Somehow, Thrifty Ice Cream has a sweet, creamy, and deeply nostalgic taste, with a rich, dense texture. We're definitely going back for the ice-cream. (5 of 5) This eatery has had its ups-and-downs... but they trudged on. No matter what your day holds, you can be assured of their gracious service.

Avoid ordering online -- very strange experience…read more We were on vacation and needed a pizza place that could accommodate a large group, so we decided to give this place a try. I went to their website, placed an order, and paid online. Shortly after, I received a text saying DoorDash would be delivering my order. Then I got a call from the DoorDash driver saying they had arrived at the restaurant, but the restaurant was claiming they didn't have a website and didn't have my order. The charge on my credit card showed the business name, so the whole situation was extremely confusing. I ended up having to cancel the charge with my credit card company, and since we had a large group with limited options, we had to go inside and place an order directly. Walking in, the place had a very strange vibe. It almost felt like a restaurant that was not fully set up or had recently changed ownership. It was very bare, there were no napkins in the holders, and the arcade area was completely empty except for a couch. The whole atmosphere felt off. Unfortunately, the pizza itself was not good either. I'm not sure what happened with this place, whether it recently changed hands or something else, but based on our experience, I would recommend staying away.

We walked into a nearly empty restaurant, with no one in the front to take our order. There's a bell to indicate your arrival and that you are ready to order. The place is spacious and the pizza smells delicious. We opted for garlic bread and a pepperoni and bell pepper pizza. The wait was very very long. I noticed that the estimated times that myself and other customers were provided were inaccurate. Our pizza was ready first, but it was way too hot to eat for a while. We were also given garlic cheesy bread instead of what we ordered, just garlic bread. Both were good and we had plenty of leftovers. However, the wait time was extremely long. There's plenty of parking in the area and there is indoor and outdoor seating. I would recommend ordering ahead of time if possible.
