I chose Carlsbad Self Storage because: - Amazing Price - Size I needed - Elevator Lift for second floor access - Climate Controlled - Close by - 50% off 2 months of rent for ACH - Play music in the buildings so you've got a move-in soundtrack The only downsides: - Lack of parking in front of their office (I had a huge truck with me) - however you can park in the adjoined hotel lot so that's not a big deal - Hours are a tad constrained, but I don't need to get into my unit super late at night anyhow I was able to find them, reserve my unit and pay my deposit from Colorado, which was extremely helpful. The woman who helped me was thorough, helpful and fun to be with. She showed me the unit first to make sure the size and accessibility would work for me before we proceeded to make it mine which I appreciated. It does a great job at keeping my belongings safe and protected for a good price! read more

My experience with Carlsbad Self Storage was exceptional. I was not expecting such over the top customer service and care. The facility is highly secured, the unit we rented was clean and had its own light. When it came time to move out it was a simple phone call. Most of all there was no surprise fees or charges of any kind. The people that work there are all top notch, and really seem to care about delivering a quality service. After posting this management contacted us and apologized and has worked to make the situation better. I changed it from a one star to a three and will keep the review up to date. Here is the previous review. They were misleading on the website on climate controlled unit. When we got there we found out the unit we wanted would not be. The reason for the two stars was tammi was nice even though management put her in a tough situation outside her control. If I wasn't limited with my schedule I would have gone somewhere else. I will update the review based on how things go. Management was not able to be reached. Seems like the customer is not a priority. There saving grace was Tammi. read more

My lease ended right before I deployed, and as a result I had to store all my household good long term while I was deployed and out of the country. Karina and her staff made it super easy for me, helped me set up autopay so I didn't have to worry about paying when I was out of cell connectivity. I have dealt with some nightmares storing my stuff long term before, and was so incredibly pleasantly surprised by how clean and climate controlled this facility is, how easy it is to get in and out, and how helpful the staff ALWAYS is. I've used multiple storage unit companies in the past and this is the easiest storage unit business I've ever worked with. They also have many unit sizes available for your needs. I was able to sign up for the entire unit online and basically just show up, confirm my ID and get the keys. The spaces are very clean and I felt very safe while at the storage facility in the evening hours. read more

Overall, the facility seems secure, the staff courteous, and the prices fair. I have just a couple complaints. 1. When you cancel, they will only prorate 10 days beyond your billing date. Beyond that they charge you the full month regardless. When I asked why, they simply said "it's company policy". From a customer perspective, that answer is completely unsatisfying. I would recommend they prorate whatever portion of the month is used. The 10 days feels arbitrary. 2. They send out email communications, but the actual message is always in the form of an attached PDF. Why and WTF?! Just put your message in the body of the email like the rest of the world. PDFs aren't mobile friendly and require download. Stop being silly! read more

Air conditioned storage units housed within a locked premises. I believe that the owners or a staff person actually live on the property. Also, there are oldies (50's - 60's) piped in over the speakers throughout the various storage buildings. I only mention this because it's kind of a nice touch whilst sweating your ass off moving that god forsaken oak hutch that your parents refuse to get rid of. Anyway, besides having air-conditioning and some tunes provided, this place is cheaper than other facilities nearby and those don't even offer a/c. read more

When the CoolBox I used for my move from a 3 bedroom townhome to house in Oceanside didn't fit all my stuff, CSS saved me! There is more to consider than just the cost of a storage unit (the price was better than others I found). Tammie in the office is friendly, efficient, and accommodating. She stayed late to get me signed up for a 10x10 unit and even showed it so I could decide if I want a ground floor or second level unit. She patiently answered all my questions, since this was my first Self Storage experience. The best value for me was use of their moving truck. Elijah arrived on time with the truck and relaxed for an hour while I easily fit my boxes. The truck was waiting by my unit and luckily I had no pressure to unload quickly because nobody else needed it. He was friendly as I saw him a few hours later, doing the rounds, checking locks and cleaning. The facility is immaculate. I saw maybe 8 other customers when I was loading in, over 5 hours. Everybody was nice. Yeah, it took me 5 hours to carefully fill the unit because I had mostly boxes and needed to optimize. Tip: Move stuff from truck to ground, ground to hall, then hall to unit. This was MUCH faster, but I felt trashy filling the hall. Thankfully nobody else was using a unit near me. This review is so long because I am SO impressed. Got a offer to have an admin fee waived. When I showed it to the employee working I was told it would not be honored because of a different deal we received. I am not worried about the few dollars that we did not save. I am worried about a company that would rather lie about an offer to save a few dollars than be people of integrity and honor the offer they put on yelp.
