I did... she said her credit was horrible... so I automatically (in my mind) thought no way.... Then... I ran her credit... and to my surprise... she was approved for the car she wanted!!!! I was am just as happy as she was!!! Dang I even wanted to drive her home in it!! But her husband who may or may not been around may not have appreciated it... so I was like a kid ... anywho, she wrote me a letter thanking me for my efforts and taking the time to look into all the details (kinda)... that Month the CEO of CarMax came to our store for having such high numbers!!!!! Then he left, I told me manager about the letter and he was upset because I did not mention this to him earlier... like way earlier (cuz he was gone) ... so then I appreciate the blessings of both transportation and social bonding! We went to Carmax in Ontario and was very disappointed and will never recommend or go there ever again. First the truck they sold us was a mess with several things wrong. We didn't find out until the next day when my husband was able to drive it. They claim to do a bumper to bumper, 2 hr check on the cars its a total lie and false advertising. If this were true the truck should not have had all of these things wrong. They say they have an easy return policy but they don't tell you that it takes 7-10 days to get your money back which is now preventing us from buying another car. They are quick to take your money but not quick to return it. At this point, they have the money and the truck humm....isn't that stealing! Bought a three year old Lexus GX460 for top dollar. Got home and the front bumper rattled loose. Had inspection done and most of the clips and the entire bracket that supports the bumper were missing. Returned to Carmax and was told I had to wait until the following Monday to make an appointment with the service department to see if they were going to fix it or not. Also never was reimbursed for the Navigation Card that I had to buy out of my own pocket. Vehicle was listed as having Navigation but when we left we could not get it working. Salesman swore that all we had to do was buy a $30.00 micro SD card, which doesn't make any sense. $220.00 later voila, it worked. Spent another day returning the car. I swear I will never be back. I bought a 2016 Chevy Trax LTZ March 2023. They told me they replaced the front rotors w new ones and resurfaced the back ones and put on new brakes and told me it was the anti brakes that was making my front end shake. Since then my coil went out then the turbo power went out and now i took my car to Goodyear only to find out the rotors in front are not new and i need to replace them and the brakes again. CarMax will not even acknowledge me or return my calls. Even though I'm paying extra money for the extended warranty. Terrible people! I will not buy another car there ever!! I have purchased cars from Carmax a few times and I tried the car didn't like it so faster than when I purchased it they took it back and we kept trying until I finally found one I liked. However what they didn't tell me is that it was the worst year of that make of car that Ford made. So it was riddled with all the problems that weren't recalls. But because I was one day over the return date they wouldn't take the car back and find me something that would be reliable and enjoyable for me. Because in the long run its about me as a customer and my happiness. So I am stuck with and expensive paper weight that I am constantly paying to keep running. I can honestly say that I am very disappointed because the people were so nice there during sale, even though the sales process is an extremely long wait for them to do the paperwork even after the final signature is made. So it makes me sad to say that because of this experience that I will probably never do business with them again and caution anyone else when doing business with them because of this experience. I had a throttle body go out right away which they took great care of me. Buy then riddled with issues and finding out is the worst year for the model that was made on day 31 and they were totally against helping me in any way to find another car to make me happy and I had others on the site picked out that were comparable in features and price, all because of one day over, wouldn't even work with there bosses or corporate to make me a happy customer with a reliable car so I have to give them a half of a star because I don't think they really don't care about me as a customer to go above and beyond because they felt like they didn't have too. Think twice before you purchase from CarMax. I recently ​purchased a car at CarMax in Ontario for Work and was given a 90day warranty or 4,000 miles whichever comes first. I didn't feel the need of purchasing the extended warranty as the vehicle I was buying seem in almost excellent condition and only 50k miles on it 4 months into buying this car the transmission gives out and CarMax tells me to have an appraisal done on the car offers me $3500 on a car I just bought from them and still owe $14000 on they said wish we could do more gave me a number to an auto mechanic and told me they understand and that they were sorry but couldn't do more. I now find myself renting a car while I have it repaired out of my own pocket. Worst deal I've ever done. Highly recommend you to go elsewhere like Caravan or a different dealership. read more

Three days after taking ownership of my vehicle, a strong odor began to become apparent. It was difficult to identify but it had a moldy mildew smell. After researching online, I discovered a forum that suggested I look into the cabin air filter. I did and what I found was shocking. Rat droppings!! Yes, it looks as though rodents had eaten through the filter and built a nest or den there. Photos attached. I almost lost my lunch. Had such a great experience at the Ontario location. My daughter and I went to go look at a car that she really liked, we purchased a vehicle at the Costa Mesa location and within an hour of driving it off the lot we had already experienced and issue and not even 24 hours after, we had experienced a total of 3 issues with the vehicle. CarMax has the 30 day 1500 mile guarantee, so we decided that we were not ok with our purchase. We went to the Ontario location and were immediately greeted by Gasco, he asked how he could help us and we explained the situation. He took us to his desk and explained everything in detail. We went online and found a vehicle that she really liked, we went to take a look at it and started the process. Gasco explained stuff that the other sales people did not explain and even offered their "extended warranty", which was not offered to us at the Costa Mesa location. Got a car from this location after 10 days of having this car I had to take it to service because of failure ac not blowing cold air! Got the car back within a day and was told it was fixed! Couple days later again AC goes out again! Now they kept my car for 2 weeks to replace the ac compressor and something in the dash get the car back after 2 weeks and a couple days later again the ac blowing hot air! And on top of that now the alignment is off and the safety feature for lane assist kept trying to merge me into another lane! Now my safety is involved so I take the car back to Carmax because they want to run a third diagnostic! At this point I'm fed up with the car and Carmax! The manager wants to tell me they can't buy back the car and I would need to get it appraised! Horrible experience and customer service! "Curbside Service" (or "Express Service" as the salesperson described it) sounds good in concept but does not work in practice. https://www.carmax.com/curbside-pickup I spent a lot of time on several calls and submitted all needed documents ahead of time before the visit. The idea is that the customer walks in at the appointed time, signs the paperwork all ready for you, and just drive away with the car. Unfortunately, the paperwork was not ready, and when they finally printed it all out there was a mistake in the documents that required everything to be re-done. It was 2.5 hours later that I finally was able escape their hell. Factor in all the time spent ahead of the visit and so-call Curbside Service is a waste of your time. Don't do it, unless you like dealing with clowns whose right hand doesn't know what their left hand is doing. read more

We have bought and sold cars multiple times with no problems until now. Bought a 2019 Subaru Impreza and within days had the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System) system light went off while driving and we notice the breaks where really loud. We bought the warranty, so we called to make an appointment, couldn't been seen for 3wks. Finally able to take it in, brake rotors needed work and they needed to replace brake pads (not sure why this wasn't fixed before they put it on the lot). Said they recalibrated the TPMS light and that the tire pressure was fine. We knew this and had told them as much about the tires and had suggested the sensor was probably bad but hoped the recalibration would work. Light came on again as we drove it home. Tried calling to make an appointment for 2 days and could only leave voice messages that were never returned. Finally get an impatient rep on the 3rd day telling me the same service person has to handle the appointment, she's not available for almost a month. Ridiculous policy, work should have been done correctly the first time, should not keep offering warranties if they don't have the capacity to do the work. Super annoyed that the next available is in the middle of the work day. read more

All sales were quite seamless, took about 30minutes to appraise, and once done simply handed a check for the vehicle and or handing them a cashiers check for any negative equity. The process is straightforward, and all the employees are kind. There is an on-site waiting room with snacks you can purchase as you wait for your car to be appraised, or you can roam the lot and look at other cars. Complimentary you're given Carmax bags for any belongings you wish to migrate out of your car. I look today and the tire is flat and has a nail in it. If I was within my 7 day return policy, I'm pretty sure they would take care of this. Now, I'm buying a tire for a car I just bought. Took my wifes 2011 toyota camry in for an appraisal, took over an hour. It only has 90,000 miles on it and ran perfect. . Jeffrey said it would take about 45 minutes for an appraisal. After an hour later,they offered us $4000.00 for it saying they would just put in at an auction. If that was the case why didn't tell us that first hand. Wife drove the car home and said it almost died on her. Mind you we never had problems with the car before. Only issue we had was tire pressure light. Now we had traction control light on and Check engine light on. I drove it this morning and it died on me. Checked to see what was wrong, found the air inlet intake disconnected causing the car to die. This needs a pair of pliers to undo the clamp holding it in place. I went back to Carmax and explained what happened. The mechanic stated all they do to appraise is drive the car around and take pictures of the motor. I asked you don't do diagnostics on it? He says, oh yes we do. There were no error codes when we checked. Maybe who worked on the car last left it loose. I told him, " I'm the only one who works on this car and i never took that off! Seems to me this may be a shady place to get appraisals. Will not be coming back here!! Went home and cleared the error codes myself. read more

I left completely offended when the sales associate said to me "I need to run your credit for you to test drive this car to make sure you can afford this vehicle" Carmax had my ID, my proof of insurance and the keys to my car that was being appraised there. The salesmen then tells me they recently had a vehicle theft, as if I was gonna take off with the car.. Fast forward.. I took my appraisal to a competitor and sold my car. I was treated like a Queen at Tesla.. they let me test drive for an hour with only my ID & proof of insurance so I bought my vehicle there.. . Carmax You lost a customer for life! I have never felt so disrespected. I am a black lady wearing sweats and a t shirt that day; unbeknownst to the sales associate I own my home, have 2 cars, impeccable FICO score and a great career. I had a Jeep transfered (free) from another location, and after test drive agreed to purchase. I was to finalize the next day after a small dent and interior cleaning was taken care of. Carmqx vehicles are advertised to be clean & free of dents, so they agreed to handle it, but needed a day to do the work. Well, the next day I was informed that the Jeep had been sold earlier that day! A miscommunication between staff I was told..."So sorry". Why was it even made available to sell when it should have been in repair and held for me? Not good business!! Like a prior reviewer with a similar experience, Camax only offered to compensate me by paying for shipping (up to $300) on another vehicle. Not enough for my troubles. They also refused to discount a similar Jeep I found in their inventory. Guess they don't want my money and I'll gladly spend it elsewhere. Buyers Beware!! read more

Just an update from my previous review for their SERVICE DEPARTMENT. SUMMARY: This review is for their service department only. (never purchased a car from CarMax before) We brought our car in on 8/7/14 to have the driver's side window motor replaced. When we picked up the car 4 days later, we found damage to the passenger side front rim and tire. Someone who drove our car hit something pretty hard and there were clear yellow markings left on the tire. The car is no longer in alignment and tends to drift to the right now. Also, they added 7 miles to the car... uh joy ride??? Initially, CarMax did not want to take responsibility over the damage. They were not going to fix or replace the tire, but did offer to fix the rim. So my husband brought it in on Tuesday and they were able to patch up the rim and painted it. From far away, it's hard to tell where the damaged used to be. However, my husband is not 100% satisfied since the color doesn't match and can tell where they put the new paint. He's already bought a new tire and ordered a replacement rim. (we're keeping the old rim as a spare.) Long story short, I appreciate that they offered to repair the rim at no cost, but still very upset that they have staff that work here that are careless when they drive your vehicle while in their care. I upgraded my rating from 1 Star to 2 Stars because they took initiative to amend the problem. Even though we have a warranty with CarMax, I don't think we'll be bringing it here for service or repairs in the future. read more
