We shared the beer garlic knots on the planet. So soft with loads of fresh garlic and pesto. Pure perfection! I had a slice of their specialty pizza and my son had one of gigantic Stromboli's. He let me have a smile bite lol. Service was wonderful as it always is, the beer was cold, and we watched the Res Sox whip the Yankees so all in all, it was a perfect night. Found this by accident but a great surprise for a quick lunch. Pizza was delicious and meatball with sauce fantastic. The customer service not so great as when I asked for a fork the girl pointed at the dispenser with the forks and said nothing. The dispenser was dusty. One recommendation - order at the counter. Last time we ate in - first time there it was awesome. This time ordered online - cook a LITTLE lighter became give me a RAW pizza, extra cheese became gross amount of cheese and not cooked - so really ew. One look and no one who is experienced would consider that a pizza you would hand someone who said a little lighter (based on how dark their slices are cooked) we will try again next visit. read more

The best eggplant parmesan ever! Wish they didn't put it on top of spaghetti. Would be better to put the spaghetti on the side so one could really appreciate the wonderful creamy eggplant. One of our favorite places to eat. We had guests from out of town that were in the mood for pizza. We got the antipasto salad, the large pizza with half pepperoni and half mushroom well done and the garlic knots. Everything was excellent! The service is always great here! We went for the first time, cute place, service great the server was helpful with our picks. The pizza is delicious, if you like spice the Datil sauce on the wings are sweet and the spice is great!! Let the adventure begin.......We drove out to St. Augustine on a beautiful Saturday afternoon after being told a few weeks ago from a genuinely nice couple who sat next to us at Jax Fish Fry that Carmelo's has some of the best dishes and great pizza. We took their advice. Wow...they were right! I just wish I got her name so I can express my thanks! :). We are always up for what's really good near or far especially after a long week of many early Monday morning flights (husband) and working at home (me). This cute restaurant is tucked in a corner next to a gas station and not far from Georgie's Diner. I will say St. Augustine is always beautiful and stays busy with tourists especially on a nice spring day. We came at the right time at 4:00 as seating was tight and got lucky with the table booth as that was the only one available. I always say it's a very good sign when the house is full! :) The ingredients/homestyle sauce to the meat lover's supreme pizza and baked ziti were beyond excellent.... This is the "D' Best" pizza I have ever had! I will honestly say I am not even a big fan of pizza/ziti or spaghetti as I got older because I haven't found a place I really truly like. Lol. I believe we found it...yes! Far drive to pick up and go back home on Racetrack Rd traveling on US1. It was a 25 minute drive. I will definitely add this nice establishment to my "favorite places" drawer list when pizza and Italian dishes comes to mind and just dine in. We started out with the fried mushrooms as an appetizer; very good! Homemade ranch to go along with it, just right-not strange or salty at all. Baked ziti came out next and the best sauce I have ever had. Pizza came last, nice, gooey cheese and warm. Ohhh it was L-O-V-E for me! The crust wasn't too thick or too thin. I was already overwhelmed and full after sampling the fried mushrooms and baked ziti. Lol. We packed it all up to eat the next day. Still good too! Highly recommend! Great menu. Lovely experience. Left full but happy. Will definitely be back to try other Italian dishes and to make room for tiramisu or carrot cake as we were definitely too full to even consider a slice "to go". read more

While in St.Augustine my father in law turned us on to this place and I'm a huge fan of great pizza. Now you may pass by this place if you weren't looking for it. Connected to a gas station, the inside is quite large with out door seating available. Now, pizza is their main thing but the menu is pretty large, a lot of bar food. However I came for the pizza. They have a great deal of 2 slices and a drink for 6 dollars, which you can't beat. I got the pepperoni and a Sicilian slice. The pepperoni was fantastic, great cheese, pepperoni was fresh, small crunch but not over cooked. Not a lot of grease, and the crust was the best part, not doughy, good crunch, great balance of crunch and dough. The Sicilian was fantastic too, good flavor, cheese was perfect. This place is a bit away from the busy St. Augustine downtown/Castillo De San Marcos area. It's a 10- minute walk and about 0.5 miles from the crowd. It's a great NY-styled pizza place. They sell pizzas by the slice and are huge too! Their salads are bigger than a regular salad at any place. They also have spaghetti and pasta dishes. My son loved their marinara sauce. We didn't order any desserts because we were stuffed from the food. They also hace a small market attached to the restaurant with a to-go area. The service was quick, ordering + eating took us about 40-45 minutes. Staff were very nice! read more

My dad decided to choose this place for dinner since he was craving pizza and it was closer to our hotel. The service was prompt and kind. We decided to order the insalata mista salad with olives, artichokes, peppers, onions, greens, feta and tomatoes. We ordered Italian dressing. For whatever reason, they brought us 2 dressing containers and charged us for one. We didn't even finish half of one and only noticed on the check at the end. Nonetheless, it was only 75 cents extra so we didn't say anything about it. The salad was really tasty. My dad and I ordered the pizza 16" called Ortolana pizza but with only half the pie with sausage as Im vegetarian. It comes with mushrooms, spinach, roasted red peppers, ricotta cheese, Italian sausage and sliced tomatoes. I don't think the mushrooms were fresh but the flavor was pretty good and the dough was nice and thin. Overall quite tasty. The servers were all nice. At the end, it took a while to get our check. I only had their pizza once or twice but have also stopped in the gas station part of the store. My most recent trip here was for the gas station/convenience store part to purchase lottery tickets for hubs on his birthday. The aroma of pizza was definitely a turn on and had me tempted but we had a big dinner planned. Our first time here, we ordered pizza to go, right as we were leaving town. Someone had highly recommended this place to us so I wanted to see if it compared to my NYC pizza. It was so long ago so I cannot remember exactly what I picked up. I want to say pepperoni for hubs and I believe I ordered a broccoli and chicken slice. I do remember it being pretty decent. Everything in town closes early and Carmelo's is open later than many restaurants but still closes at 10pm/11pm. The service is quick. The staff were not bubbly but I did not sit down in the restaurant so that may be a different experience. I do believe they have table service as well. read more

Got waters cuz I had fire in my veins that needed expelling. Service was fast and friendly. Pizza came in short order nice and hot with tasty gooey cheese. Here's the deets: Cheese - gooey and tasty. Could have used maybe a bit more but that's what extra cheese is for right? Sauce - had a nice tang but not too much to overpower Crust - a little bit of crisp and no bubbles to ruin it. My friend and I stopped in because we were craving a slice of deep dish pizza, there were only a couple people when we came in and after ordering, we were told they were out of the slices of Sicilian. No big deal, we got different flavors. Now it was getting packed, and after waiting a while, we noticed other people who came in after us were getting their food. Finally our food comes and they forgot my friends order of Mozzarella sticks, I brought it up and server apologized and offered to put the order in but take it off the receipt, which was nice, but because we had already waited so long my friend said it was fine to just cancel them off the order. The pizza was ok, I like the thin crust with the sandy bottom, but it was a little greasy. The veggie sandwich,.which I was glad they offered, had grilled eggplant and zucchini, tomatoes, pesto, and provolone, and because of those veggies, the sandwich was very watery. Despite the pesto, it also didn't have much flavor. I would love to come back to try the eggplant parm or actually get a slice of the deep dish to try it out, but would probably get it to-go so I wouldn't have to deal with the wait again. read more
