Food wouldn't have come out had I not talked to one of the servers. After I had the conversation it took them 5min to make the food. I ordered right when I sat down. Didn't get my food till about 45 min of my stay. Ordered: roast beef and green peppers sandwich with tomato basil soup. Sandwich was soggy. Soup was excellent! Servers: One guy in particular was either not paying attention or just chose to disregard me. One good thing that happened! I got my check when I was only 2 bites into my sandwich! That was just fantastic! Then when it comes to pay, I placed my card and the little receipt holder on top of the napkin container so it was visible. This server decided to walk by me and pick up the payment of the other table right next to me. I said, well that's fine whatever's. But see I only have 1 hour lunch time. As you probably know, Time is of the essence here. The same dude looks at my table, then decided to go up the stairs and picks up the cards and receipts up there then goes to the register. I decided to walk up to the register and just gave it to him. Another good thing, he says "have a nice day!" That's great! The other waiters were great! Very polite and attentive. Water keeps on getting refilled. They were nice and smiling all the time. Very friendly. But this guy with jeans shorts, and folded up so that we can see a bit of his thighs was just... eh "inexperienced." Atmosphere was great! I like the place. Just have to prepare for longer lunch hours. read more

Good soup and sandwich. But the service is slow and if you want your soup first you better confirm it verbally with the server. Because apparently looking them in the face and saying I want my soup first isn't good enough. 4 stars for the food 2 for the service. I will say they did make sure my tea was refilled timely. read more

Delicious! I don't know what was happening in town the day I went that made parking so frustrating, but it was well worth the wait. My sandwich was perfect, all of the ingredients tasted fresh and I didn't have to wait long for the food at all. I'll be visiting again when I'm back in town! read more

I work right around the corner. The atmosphere is really great, but more than that, the food is excellent. I haven't yet been disappointed by what I purchase there. When you first look at the menu, you probably think: "$$ for a salad? Are you kidding?" You tentatively order hoping it will be more than iceberg lettuce and a slice of tomato. What you actually get is a mountain of dark greens and delicious pairings. It's more than you can ever imagine eating in one sitting. It's half full of toppings and half full of the really healthy stuff. Suddenly you find yourself thinking: "I got all this for $$?! I'm coming back." Suddenly your eyes open to the whole menu. You can get soup and half a ginormous sandwich for only XX dollars too. Your GERD won't let you eat their tomato bisque, but when your boyfriend gets it, and you try a small taste of it, you heavily consider buying every Prevacid you can find at your local Safeway. This is how your addiction to Carnegies starts. It will be a life-long battle you fight in which, no matter what you choose to eat there, you will always win. I LOVE THIS PLACE! I have only been for lunch, but the service rocks and the sandwiches are awesome and the soup is out of this world. Their selection of micro-brews/wine is pretty good for Redding... let's remember where we are now, folks... can't expect NYC service/savvy in a town of 90k. I used to really, really like this place until I had a bug crawl out of my sandwich. A rather large bug. I quietly waved the waitress over so as to not make a big fuss. I'm fairly sure the bug was hiding out in the tomato, and there's no way anyone would have known it was there. Chalk it up to bad luck. But when I stated I would be leaving, she charged me for the half of the sandwich I ate before discovering I had an uninvited dining guest. Seriously?! I love Carnegies food but the place has become so dirty. Every where you look there is dust and grime and I am sorry it makes me wonder about the kitchen. Take a day close down and give the place a good cleaning or I will be going else where in the future. read more

I was very disappointed in this sandwich shop. I order a pastrami sandwich, not thinking I had to tell them to warm it up. Who serves pastrami COLD? barf! And it's so small and packed, you can't even move around. It's pretty ridiculous. read more

I'm so glad I finally started going to this place after meaning to for quite some time. It has a very laid back, warm atmosphere, which is so inviting during winter months. I definitely prefer the crowd at Carnegie's over most of the ones found in downtown bars. The service is good: they're happy to answer questions or have a conversation with a customer. There are daily deals and specials all the time, so price is a poor excuse not to try it. They have pretty decent taste in beer, and they support local breweries, which I think is great. read more

A great deal is Thursday nights, which is mac and cheese with salad and beer for $7. The server was real nice especially since I came near closing time. They don't have many beers on tap but what they do have is great. A great place to hang out with friends. read more

My B/F and I had dinner here last weekend. I had prawns and linguine. He had lasagna. It was very good!! The gave us soup (yummy) and plenty of bread and salad. The waiter (VERY NICE!!) was pleasant and professional. He kept my ice tea going too...:) It was very good food and I don't have any complaints. We will definitely be back to try again!! read more

I have been going to Carnegies for almost 8 years. I love the cashew chicken sandwhich on the sweet bread. Last three sandwiches I had the bread has been very dry! Not sure what is going on with the bread. I hope they read this. If I am going to continue to spend 11 - 12 bucks for lunch, the bread should be fresh!!! read more

Very popular place downtown with the court and law offices. Tables are scare. I usually order to go. The staff is mostly young and very pretty, but not quite trained fully. I can imagine the cold pastrami if you didn't tell them point blank. But if you know what you want and can tell them exactly, then you get a great meal. read more

Their food is good, but I still can't believe they haven't addressed the problem with the horrible acoustics. I find that I'm hoarse when I leave there because of having to shout to the person across the table from me. This place is a good deli if you've never ventured back East. So pleasantly surprised! I've been wanting to try this place for a long time and it was not what I was expecting...in a good way! The place is totally adorable and has a great vibe. Sandwiches are generously portioned and delicious. Great soups and salad also. I had the HALF cashew chicken salad sandwich and it was perfect. We were here a year ago and loved the food. We came back today to repeat our experience and were very disappointed. The BLAT that I had last time was not the same. I assume they have gone to the precooked flavorless bacon because there is a typo on the menu. The Reuben explanation is also the explanation under the BLAT. The sandwich had zero flavor. I wouldn't not recommend the BLAT. The homemade potato salad also had very little flavor today. read more

This resturant is in the middle of downtown Redding catering to the busy working people. In a historic building restored to a comfortable multilevel eatery. Food is served quxkly. Loved their tomato basil soup and cashew chicken salad. My husband ordered the Greek salad and loved the dressing. Not so vinegary he said. Looks like they serve craft beers and happy hour tapias.
