We had been considering another Subaru, we own two others, and I ran into a very friendly gal, Laurin, (she works at Corporate with the owners) who promised to set me up a good deal at Carr Subaru. I took her up on it and worked with a very nice, genuine salesperson, JJ Johnson. He thoroughly explained everything about the Legacy and made me feel very comfortable. First off, I will say, that BUYING a car went smooth as butter they got me what I was looking for at a fair price. That is about the extent of my smooth experience with Carr Suburu. When I bought my car there was a small chip in the paint. I was told 'we can take care of that for you go ahead and take the car and we will have someone call you about scheduling to get that taken care of for free.' Sounds great right? Except that I had to play phone tag with several salesman to get it scheduled. (The person I need to talk to is never around and this will become a recurring problem.) Finally after 4 days of 'we will have someone get a hold of you.' And not getting any calls I finally got in touch with someone who told me this was a regular procedure that didn't need any scheduling and I could bring the car in on any friday.... I also sold them a car. After a month and a half without payment I started to wonder. I called them for 2 weeks with the same run around that went something like this. 'You need to talk to so and so but hes not here we will give him your info and have him call you but we probably just don't have the title yet.' Finally I just decided to call my bank and see if they could tell me if they had sent the title. This happened on sept. 24. They told me that Carr Suburu had had the title since mid august! So I finally went into the dealership. After the same run around, in person, I told them I had talked to the bank and I knew they had the title. One of the managers there said 'let me check on that for you.' then left me sitting in the lobby for over an hour with no check in or anything. Finally he returned and told me my check would be ready down the road at carr chevrolet in 2 hours. Not having 2 hours to wait I ran down to chevrolet to see if there was any chance it would be done sooner and to schedule a time to pick it up the next day if it couldn't. The check was ready in 15 minutes. Again buying my new car went swimmingly but every encounter I've had with Carr Suburu since then has been incredibly frustrating. read more

(This is my second review as Yelp decided I wanted the first one in "Service.") I went to Carr Subaru on April 4th having done my homework and really thinking I knew what I wanted. Many of my friends said such wonderful things about the Carr Family and the dealership I felt quite comfortable at 75 to buy my first new car on my own. Jaycee Huckins met me at the door and proceeded to spend a very long day with me. He asked the right questions and quickly knew there was a better option than what I "thought" I wanted. He really had an enthusiasm for the cars and great knowledge for a "newbie" to the staff, He never made me feel rushed or that my questions were unimportant. Following the test drive I knew this was the car I wanted. Even after the sale was guaranteed with the help of a great manager, a very kind finance manager and the help of the insurance department; Jaycee spent a lot of time helping me. We had to return to my home to get papers on my trade in. It was a great time to learn about the inner workings of the car. The computers and features of the Cross Trek are really exciting and at the same time daunting. He explained them to me in detail and even allowed me to follow up with calls to his cell phone. He worked many extra hours to help get an item I truly wanted installed by the service department the same day. (I also thank them for the extra time.) All in all it was a wonderful day and I love my blue Cross Trek. I also know I will be back to talk again to Jaycee about the inner points of the dashboard and steering wheel and he made it clear he will always have time to help me. read more

I bought a Subaru Impreza two days ago from Sam. Over the course of a couple days, we texted back and forth as I was shopping for the best price. Sam was very patient, informative, friendly and helpful. Even though we were not sure if this was the best time for us to buy, he gave us a price we couldn't walk away from. I thought perhaps Subaru was having a special incentive meaning I didn't need to buy that day. A quick call to other dealers (outside of portland/Beaverton area) verified that Subaru doesn't give rebates or promotions. Carr is such a volume dealer that their price could not be easily touched by others. If you are shopping for a Subaru in the Portland metro area, Carr Subaru should first on your list to visit. Nobody can beat their low pressure approach (they are salaried), selection, hospitality and prices. read more

This review is for the sales department only. I just bought my 2015 Forester at Carr. The salesman, Papa, was excellent. Low pressure, super courteous, and knowledgeable. I had already done my research, knew what I wanted, but was dreading having to go through the iDisk hassles... Pleasantly surprised! We were in our new car in less than 2 hours, no up-sell pressure, just the usual warranty offers. Papa was great, the rest of the staff was great too. I usually get my car worked on somewhere else, so I can't speak for the maintenance department. Love my new Forester !!! read more

Hands down the most un-slimy car purchase experience ever. We did a lot of looking around, both at other big dealerships and smaller lots, and always walked away with a vague feeling of needing a shower. Not so here. Robert Hills was pleasant, professional, and went the extra mile to get us into the car we really wanted. No high-pressure pitch, just showed us a selection of cars in our budget, and didn't try to talk us into anything. He didn't blink when we wanted to bring our Basset Hound along for the test drives either. We walked away spending a bit more than we wanted, but got a certified car with low miles and the features we wanted--including the uncommon manual transmission. He also got there early to install a roof rack that was included with the car but wasn't on yet. We are a happy new Subie family! read more

I owned a 2015 Legacy sedan, but it was rather large for my needs and style of driving. I worked with sales person, Mauricio Anuel, who approached me in a friendly, non-pushy way. We compared the options in my 2015 Legacy with those in the newly re-designed 2017 Impreza. I test drove an Impreza, and I decided right then that I wanted one. Mauricio helped me fill out a custom order to the factory and now that I've taken possession of it, I'm so glad I made the change. Mauricio has always responded and researched my questions about the new car.There will be more, I'm sure, because this car has a lot of new technology to figure out! Fortunately, I have just scheduled an appointment with Mary Coffey, their Delivery Specialist who is trained in the fine points of the technology. Purchasing a 2021 Subaru Forester at Carr Subaru recently was the best vehicle-buying experience I've ever had at a car dealership, due largely to a fantastic sales consultant, Whitley Schlichte. Whitley is highly personable, amazingly knowledgeable, and has a natural can-do, customer-first attitude that really shines. She relished the challenge of finding me just the right vehicle at an excellent price, and with none of the hassle I had become accustomed to at dealerships over the years. She enthusiastically provided clear, complete answers to my many questions, guided me smoothly through the purchasing process, and made sure the car was in perfect condition before handing it over to me. Thanks also to finance manager Margaret Long for her efficient, friendly service and helpful explanations of optional services (without being the least bit pushy). What are terrible experience. Salesman Willie was promising things he couldn't deliver. We were told 3500 trade in value by Willie, but when it came time to talk numbers, it changed to 1500 because of the tires not being good enough! I would bet this is a "bait and switch" tactic. We drove 2 plus hours and left very unhappy. We were also told that if we came and didn't get the car, Willie would fill our gas tank. Ha, got offered 5 gallons! This is the absolute worst experience with a dealership I have ever had. I was trying to help my 20 year old son purchase his very first car by himself. I came along so he wouldn't get taken advantage of. Well, good thing I came with him, they even tried screwing me along with him! Absolutely unbelievable, Carr Subaru should be ashamed of their customer service. Willie should be coached on how to NOT promise things that can't be delivered. Thank you Willie for wasting my entire Saturday night by driving and getting told that we wouldn't get what was promised. Next time do not give numbers for a trade in and then lie and say to your manager that you didn't. I Sir, am not a liar and didn't just come up with that off the top of my head. Man up, you just solidified my thinking on car salesman. Too bad it happened like this! read more

This review is for internet sales (which seems like a very different experience to the traditional sales department when I read the other reviews). I purchased a new Subaru from Ken in internet & fleet sales. Everything went well and Ken was a joy to deal with. He let me test drive the car alone and didn't put pressure on me at any stage. I feel like I paid a fair price for the car and received a fair price for my trade-in. When I was signing the finance papers, the finance lady started to push Gap, extended warranties, etc. As soon as I asked her to move on, she dropped the sales pitch and let me continue with the paperwork with no pressure. I wanted some accessories after the sale. I emailed Ken and he quoted a fair price for the parts and install. He had the parts ordered and set me up with the appropriate service guy. This is the second Subaru I have bought via internet sales (the first was at another dealer). Both were the easiest car purchases I've made. read more

We recently purchased a new Forester from Carr Subaru. We are quite pleased with the car, but were disappointed in the sales experience. Carr sold us a Forester years ago, which we decided to replace, and based on that experience and satisfaction with their Service Dept, we went back. Our sales person was enthusiastic and pleasant, but relatively new and we think followed processes directed by her manager and company. Our overall impression was that they wanted to sell us a car absolutely as soon as possible without clearly listening to us. We knew what we wanted, but did go with their preference of swapping one of their cars with another dealer (appears to be common for dealers). The process, including a short test drive, took over 4 hours as we had to meet with the sales manager and two financial people (one of whom wanted to sell us auto insurance though we are quite happy with our Amica policy), and make arrangements for a loaner as they wanted our trade in before the car came in. The second financial person was not too pressured, but wanted us to consider many additional warranty-type options. The sales manager seemed overall disinterested, misrepresented the details about an extra free option and did not ask us about the charitable contribution Subaru was going to make with the sale. He also indicated that they would include splashguards and convinced us to go with the crossbars. We had an estimate for the value of our trade in from 4 weeks prior which Carr immediately suggested might need to be decreased because of time elapsed. In the meantime, I had purchased a new battery, new wiper blades, and hadn't driven the car much, so this was not credible and they already were giving me a pretty low price for a desirable car. When we came to pick up the car, we were surprised to learn that the buyer is expected to install crossbars and we did not get instructions about the splashguards, which were not installed (I figured out that I needed to get Service to do this, but it took two trips). When we sent emails after the purchase, one of the financial people promptly replied, but the sales person and the sales manager did not reply. This gave us the impression that once we bought the car, they were done with us and not interested in helping us. I made the subsequent arrangements with Service. When I sent an email to the head of Sales, he responded quickly but was sloppy in the reply (addressed me incorrectly, had sloppy grammar, and didn't really offer any correction except to provide some training to his team). So, our experience was of not getting detailed and accurate help, needing to spend an inordinate amount of time with pressure to spend extra money, and different parts of the company not communicating with each other. Next time we buy a Subaru, we will go to a different dealer. read more

CARR SUBARU ... SHARING THE LOVE! First off, I want to say that this is my 7th Subaru that I've purchased for myself. The 5th that I've bought at Carr Subaru (6th if you include my daughter's) and the 4th Subaru that we've bought from Robert Hills. I have been a loyal customer of Carr Subaru for over 17 years, and I truly believe we receive excellent customer service from both the Sales and Service departments. Even though there is a Subaru dealership within 10 minutes of my house, I choose to drive the extra miles just to go to Carr because of their employees (many have been there for 10+ years). If you are looking to buy a Subaru you really should consider going to Carr Subaru, and I would ask to talk with Robert Hills. He is a very knowledgeable sales person and he is a genuine, nice, family man. Here's my recent experience at Carr: My daughter has been in the market for her first vehicle, so I called Robert Hills at Carr Subaru. Robert found a few used vehicles that fit her needs (price and specs). She decided on a 2009 Subaru Outback that was traded in that day. Even though her financing was complete, before the dealership released the car, they put the vehicle through the service department, replaced the brakes and did some other mechanical repairs to ensure it was mechanically sound. From a mom's perspective, it was very reassuring to know it is a safe vehicle for my daughter to drive. When we went to pick-up my daughter's vehicle, I was curious about some of the new features on the Outback and Forrester, so I asked Robert about it. Robert was very knowledgeable about all the differences compared to my current vehicle, and he even offered to take me on a test drive. I thought to myself, "Sure, why not." During the drive, I explained that as much as I'd love to buy a new Subaru, I just didn't think the numbers would work out. I had pretty high goals (pay off my current loan + low interest rate + purchase below MSRP = lower monthly payments), but I would consider down-grading if necessary. After our test drive, Robert ran some preliminary numbers which took max. 10 minutes, and he showed me several options to lower my payments. None of the options he proposed fit my needs, because I decided that I wasn't willing to down-grade and I didn't want to extend my loan to a longer period. Robert completely understood, although he knew I was disappointed. It wasn't high-pressure sales. It was more like two friends talking. A couple days later, Robert contacted me and said that they have a car advertised on sale that fits all of my needs, except the color. They also contacted a different lender and they were able to get my interest rate lower, getting my payments much closer to my goal. Robert took the time to answer all of my questions and confirmed the numbers over the phone (very straight forward). Within a couple hours, I was at the dealership filling out the paperwork, went straight into financing and drove away with my new 2016 Outback. It probably took me an hour at Carr, which included taking the car on a test drive and learning more about the new features. Thank you Carr Subaru and thank you Robert Hills! In approximately November, 2017, I took my 2009 Forester (59,300 miles on it) in for an oil change. I told them my car had been leaking oil. They changed oil and said they found no leak. Days later, my car was still leaking oil and I called the service department. The service person said it was typical for the car to leak a little oil after an oil change. I said it was more than a little and he assured me it would quit. In January, 2018, I took the car in because of the oil leak and squeaking brakes. The service rep told me my car was leaking oil from both gaskets, plus the oil pan was dented and must be replaced. In addition the front and rear brake pads need replacing (which was fine). The cost would be $3,000! I declined service and took it to an independent mechanic who thoroughly examined my car and said the oil pan ABSOLUTELY did NOT have a dent in it and did NOT need replacing. Please beware when getting service from Carr Subaru and if in doubt, get a second opinion. Carr has seen the last of me. read more

I only had a few minutes before I had to pick up my daughter from school, so I went to this dealership hoping they could change out a broken tail light bulb. I didn't have much hope, frankly, that they would be able to do it in time. But then I met Rita Alvarez. She was the answer to my prayers. Not only did Rita suggest that I could save money by going across to the parts department and buying my own bulb but she then told me that actually 3 bulbs were out! She then had one of the technicians change them out in about 8 minutes. Well believe it or not and I was in and out of there for less than eight bucks! What great service! I am very happy that they were able to handle something so simple in such an elegant way because I've been to many other places that wouldn't have been able to do so. And I have learned that usually the places that can handle the small things so efficiently can also handle the big things. I will be back. read more

My day started out terribly since I had to go car shopping at multiple places, and I was given bad pricing, stubborn attitudes, and general frustration from salesmen who thought they could get the best of me. I was extremely burnt out, and finally decided to go to Carr Subaru before calling it quits for the day. When I arrived, my mom and I were greeted warmly by Joe Hernandez, who showed us the car we had originally been interested in, and listened to all of our woes and concerns with the previous auto sales companies. Since it was later in the evening and Carr was about to close, we were surprised at how patient he was and open to exploring all car options to find the right fit. When we finally selected a car that was exactly what I was looking for, Joe and Fernando worked with us to brainstorm the best payment options. The best thing about their personalities is that they left the decision up to me, and didn't throw any of the typical car salesman spiels at me, so I was able to fully think it through and do the math (literally). They stayed with us until 10:30pm with the car deal, and were so kind and helpful along the way. I am so glad that even though I was really burnt out from visiting so many other dealerships that day, I stopped at Carr Subaru! And now I have my first official Subaru :) read more

First and foremost I have to say that this whole experience was so relaxed and smooth with Mo. My husband and I came in wanting a new Ascent, we had our two sons with us and we all know the whole car buying process can take a lot of time, and especially with kids, could easily become a stressful and nerve wracking situation. Throughout our time at the dealership, Mo brought in toys to keep our 18 month old entertained, offered snacks for our oldest, and is all around a very comfortable person to be around and talk with. Mo and his manager worked several times rearanging the numbers with the lender and we ending up leaving with our top choice, the Touring edition, financed in a way we are totally comfortable qith. From the beginning to the end, we were well taken care of by Mo, he was extremely knowledgeable about each of the cars we were comparing, and we left with our dream car. The day really could not have gone any better. We are very very happy and I want to throw Mo's name out there to anyone thinking about car shopping - He is truly a good and honest person and he will take care of you! read more

I did not have a good experience here. Our sales person let us walk away with the car under the impression that we were approved. She told us she'd call us the next day, never called. We called and found out we weren't approved. So we got a co-signer and was told we would hear back from them on Monday on whether or not we are approved with the co-signer. We received no call on Monday and had to again call them. The person that answered didn't know how to help us and told us they'd call back. Never got a call. A few days later we decided to give the car back because we were unhappy with the service we were receiving, and we had a car that technically wasn't ours. We've been waiting for 30 min at the dealership for someone to help us. I would not recommend this company. Bad communication, bad customer service. read more

Went in to looking at a few different used foresters and outbacks. test drove too and they did do a good job showing my girlfriend the one that who was buying a nice long test drive on different roads, then came evaluating her trade in, i had craigslist adds and KBB print outs showing a trade in of easily 8k they wanted to give us 4... the manager was trying to tell her that because of a small scratch and dent on her quarter panel that they would have to list the car as having frame damage and even went as far as claiming that the car may have to have a reclaimed title! the car we drove they told us was 18k when we left the lot because they would not give us anything on our trade in we looked around on-line and saw that they had priced the car we had test drove at 13.5!!!! i called steamed and spoke to a sales men who pleaded with me not to tell the manager his name and what we had found out! NEVER GO TO CARR Subaru, they tried to cheat us out of 5k on the car and 4k on our trade in. read more

Let me begin by saying that I virtually never write reviews of anything. My experience yesterday was so gawdawful that I feel the need to spare others the misery. Call me crazy, but I don't think stress, pressure, fear, and whiplash should be part of one's information-gathering experience. I am in the early stages of looking for a new car. The Forester intrigues me for a number of reasons. I happened to be in Beaverton yesterday and noticed a Subaru dealership, so went in naive about how bad this dealership is. When I told the salesman I was interested in the Forester, the first thing he did was tell me that he has "the car for me" and he brought me to see a Crosstrek. As he pushed its virtues, I bluntly stated that I'm not interested in it and came to see the Forester. We walked back to the Foresters and I asked a few questions about the 2014's, which are not yet available. Not only did he have very little specific knowledge about them, he also was all too eager to get me in a 2013 and forgetting about a 2014. Truth is, I was quite impressed by the Forester. But after my test drive, he insisted on taking me on another test drive, with him at the wheel. He felt a need to demonstrate several of the Forester's merits. This included him scaring the crap out of me by accelerating to a high speed toward a fence, only to slam on the brakes as hard as he possibly could. The Forester passed this test with flying colors -- I am duly impressed by its braking ability. However, due to the whiplash I endured to gain this colonel of knowledge, I won't be wanting to brake hard again in a car anytime soon, even if I need to. After the test drive, I again made clear that I am in the early stages of doing my research, I am not going to be buying anything today, and I do not want to share my contact information with the dealership. I had to hold a pretty firm line on this due to pressures to the contrary. As another reviewer here has commented on, the salesperson then went to a back office, telling me that before I leave, he'd just like to get me a brochure detailing the different available trim levels. I thought this was fine and said okay. In addition to the brochure, though, he returned with his manager and introduced us. This guy proceeded to put on an even harder sell, and was aggressively asking me for all sorts of information. When I stood my ground (not something a person should feel he has to do when looking at cars) and declined to answer another round of the same rephrased questions (what other cars I'm considering, what I do for a living, my phone number) he looked at me as though I were from another planet. I just wanted to get out of there, and clearly this was not okay with him. In order to not lose more of my afternoon, I had to leave pretty abruptly, all stressed and tense (whiplash will do that to a guy!). What an awful experience. And it's too bad: the Forester can sell itself pretty well -- why on Earth are these people getting paid to scare off potential customers? read more

Bought a new 2013 Subaru Legacy from Polo Morales on Friday night, June 7. It was a great experience, Polo is fun to work with, has a great sense of humor and is very focused on making the customer experience as painless as possible. I really appreciate how both Polo and Miguel were so knowledgeable about the car and helped me make up my mind between the 2012 and the 2013. As I was upgrading from a 1995 Subaru Legacy, Polo's knowledge about the car and the accessories was invaluable. He helped to get my iPhone synced to the Bluetooth system explained how the shift paddles worked and how to use them. Explained about how to take off the traction control (if I ever need to) and made sure I was comfortable with the vehicle. We're seniors, and we've bought enough cars that we're turned off by slick salemen. We had a really good experience at Carr, mostly because of the staff--Kyle Elsey and Miguel Perez. If you don't like to be high pressured, and if you want someone to let you take the lead in finding the care you want, this dealership is the place to go. My wife and I came into Carr just to look and browse around. We weren't bombarded by salesman, which is nice when you are just looking. After we were ready to talk to someone we delt with Polo. He was really polite and easy to work with. We were looking for a specific car as far as color and features. Unfortunately they did not have one in stock. We searched around and had some bad experiences at other dealerships the next day. Steve and Polo were able to get us the car we wanted within 48 hrs of our original trip.
