Dined here last week, we had the lasagna, eggplant parm, and lamb chops.All of which were good-the lasagna was nice and dense, the parm was nice and crispy under the marinara and the lamb was tasty, albeit a little overcooked.The sides were sort of "iffy" for us however. The parmesan truffle fries were a soggy, and the garlic mashed potatoes had so much garlic your tongue almost felt burned. Well, this has been a go to chain restaurant for me. I always love eating here. In fact, we just had a celebration dinner here about a month ago for one of our agents who passed her licensing. Anyway, I was in Mobile on Airport to meet an old friend and we decided to meet at Carrabba's. My buddy was running so I decided to order. I got the meatballs with ricotta small plate and the 6 oz sirloin. This is one of those create your meal packages where you can pick an app or a dessert, a soup or salad and an entree. The small plate was really good. Combined with the bread they serve, it was really outstanding. The sirloin on the other hand.... meh!! It was terrible. It is called a Tuscan Grilled Sirloin and that must mean grilled while being slathered in lemon juice the whole time. Just not very appetizing. Then there is the quality of the meat. It was so touch, that I eventually cut it in half to try and figure out what was in each bite that was sooo chewy I ended giving up on eating it. I let them know I was unsatisfied and also told them I was not trying to get anything off of my bill - they did not take anything off. I still had about 1/3 (of a 6 oz sirloin) that had never been touched, plus 4 big wads of chewy meat I could not get down, when they took it away. I will go back, never will I order that again. Service was good and the place was really clean as always - at least the part I could see. We always love sitting at the bar and watching them cook, so that is something you can do at Carrabba's without paying more for it. read more

Yep, it's a chain restaurant but one of the few that we go to as a family. Three stars for being average and not always consistent. Sometimes it's really good, but I've enough unpleasant experiences to knock it out of the 4-5 star category. After staying away for a while due to a few consecutive bad experiences, we gave it another shot (my husband loves their lasagna and bread!). We had an impromptu date night and it was his choice. Finally, they have been redeemed (mostly)! The good: Our food was hot and fresh. Steak was cooked to order and the chicken was not overdone. I ordered The Johnny which is chicken Bryan and sirloin marsala. Both were executed nicely on this visit. Bread was hot and delicious. The chicken soup was flavorful and actually had chicken in it this time (no chicken on our last visit). The bad: My Cesar salad was so drenched in dressing that I had to stop after a few bites. The lettuce had gotten soggy. Server was super slow (they weren't busy). It took 12 minutes to be greeted after we sat at the table. First I will say the manager on duty Ann is a dear friend and she actually spent th majority of the meal time sitting with us. The female server we had (can not recall her name) may have came to our table three times total including bringing drinks and food to us. My entree was good but the plate my Mom chose well not to her liking. Now you would think the service would be top notch with a manager sitting at our table but this waitress was one of the worse I have ever had and we eat out quite a bit. At one point the manager Ann actually had to summon the waitress to even stop At the table. So overall I was pleased with my food and appetizer but the service left a lot to be desired. Went there on a Sunday afternoon around 3:00. Restaurant was fairly empty. It took 16 for someone to acknowledge us after being seated. The bathroom was horrible, it had paper towels everywhere , unflushed toilets with fecal matter left inside and the smell was horrendous!! We ordered an appetizer sampler to share. Our sales came out before the appetizer and my sons Cesar salad was covered in cheese, even though he specified no cheese. Our food came out while we were still eating or salad and appetizers. None of the tables, dirty dishes were removed. My husband was so mad he actually stood up, took all of our dirty dishes, appetizer plates, appetizer dish, salad plates used bread plates, and empty glasses and put them on the table on the side of us because no one cleaned off our table and they were only three other tables in the restaurant. The food was mediocre. It tasted like it came out of a box and the sauces were out of a jar. I actually could have made better at home. My son got a steak with mashed potatoes, and asparagus did not eat the asparagus because it was not cooked and he said the mashed potatoes were cold. My pasta, the shrimp and scallop pasta was so bad I ate the two shrimp and two scallops out and left all the pasta. My youngest son didn't eat at all. They were great on the refills, constantly refilling my two boys. Sodas, it would have been nice if they removed all the previous empty glasses instead of leaving them on the table or even offered me a second drink. We ate at this establishment one year ago, and it was good. This time we were disappointed with the service and the food. My dining partner's meal and soup were good, I had veal piccata, and it was way too salty. Before our meals were ready, we had ordered one glass of wine each. We waited 15 minutes and the wine I ordered was no longer available. After ordering something else, 10 minutes went by, and we could not find the waiter. My dining partner went up to the bar to get my drink and deliver it to me. I think our waiter was good, and we left him a good tip, because we didn't want him being penalized just because there is not enough help. We had to wait to be seated because the hostess was running around busing tables. The bartender was delivering drinks. Management should cordon off a section of the restaurant, and turn people away if there is not enough staff to properly serve people. Very disappointing. I come here as often as I can. The food is a great value when taking into account the competition, quality and that most everything is freshly cooked, not just prepared by reheating. In other words why anyone would eat at the nearby Olive Garden which isn't any less expensive, instead of coming here baffles me. This here is real food, not just some microwaved frozen dinners. They added a really affordable lunch menu as well. They have hands down the best Caesar salad and it is the only place I will eat mozzarella sticks. I have never had mozzarella sticks like these before. They are very crispy on the outside, always hot and the quality cheese is fully melted on the inside, and even when you get down to the last piece. There are plenty of different meat dishes and types of sides available. Unlike other restaurants where all they have is pasta, this place has a well rounded menu and items at different price points. You can tell that they use San Mariano tomatoes for most or all of their dishes. Their sauces are chunky and aren't made from cheap sour tomatoes merely puréed in a blender which then need a bunch of sugar poured into them to to combat the sour taste. Never do I get heartburn from any of their red sauces here. This place makes their sauce the authentic Italian way. First with the positive: clean restaurant, ample dining area, friendly staff. Food was not bad but the tomato sauce on my lasagna was extremely acidic and difficult to eat however it was at least tasty. The others in my party of six all had different plates no one complained about their food so apparently overall the food we can say safely was good. The problem that we had on that night was our server( which her name escapes me now) I would like to know why it takes somebody 25 minutes to discover that the cappuccino maker is broken and when the customer ordered regular coffee it took yet another 25 minutes for her to come back with a small cup of coffee. This is poor service because it seemed as though she did not care enough about her customer to stay on top of the coffee situation. Mind you the restaurant was not busy as it was a Tuesday night at around 5:30 6:00 so there really was no excuse. It's really sad when the food and the atmosphere are really great or decent and enjoyable and the server ruins the whole dinner experience for everyone. My contention is if they do not like what they're doing as far as their job is concerned look for another job it's that simple- don't make your customers miserable and expect a decent tip when you've done nothing. read more

We are somewhat spoiled because we visit once or twice a month which is probably not considered "regular" but we always receive top notch service and the food is always consistent. Hubby and I had never been to this Carrabba's location until last week. We enjoyed the one in Baton Rouge, so we thought we'd give this one a try. We arrived a few minutes before 7PM on a weeknight and the restaurant was pretty busy. We were seated immediately in a booth! We do so love the privacy of a booth! Service was attentive yet not intrusive. I like that especially when we are in deep conversation! We began our food experience with a shrimp scampi appetizer. The shrimp were large and the sauce was delicious. I could make myself ill on the accompanying bread because it is so divine. Hubby opted for the Lasagna since it is such a chore to make it at home. It was pretty good however he felt it was light on the cheese and too heavy on the sauce. He is Sicilian so I sort of feel sorry for any Italian restaurant that we dine in. His mom was a legendary cook and he's not too bad either. I decided to order a sirloin steak with the garlic potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly and the spuds were delicious. I ended up packing up half my meal because the servings were so generous. By the way I had a salad prior to the entree so by the time it arrived I was getting full! Did that waitress say dessert? Yes she did and she was clowning around with hubby about it. So we got our ticket and there was no dessert to go on it. She thought he was kidding when he said he wanted the "terrible sue" to go. The hostess was our server I wish I got her name but I didn't but she was so sweet. We both ordered the egg plant Parmesan with a side of garlic mashed potatoes. I had a Caesar salad on the side and we finished off with coffee and tiramisu. The eggplant Parmesan was just OK it was literally just some fried eggplant on a plate with some cheese and a tiny bit of marinara no pasta or anything. Three or four course dinners and the three course Brunch is delightful and reasonably priced for the offerings. You get delicious food and get to meet new people.
