I would suggest getting drinks somewhere else....a little over priced for what they gave. Came here around midnight upon arriving in New York for my first time. I've heard nothing but good things about New York pizza. I wasn't try eat a lot since it was so late but I did try the Sicilian which was delicious but seemed pricey for a slice it was close to 5$ but it was still delicious I'm just not used to that price for slices in California but hey the quality was beyond my expectations. My other complaint is the inside seems crowded when it gets busy so if you want to eat here that can be an issue too. Also unless I'm blind there is no indication of breakfast hours and I was hoping to try one of the breakfast options but it wasn't available. Good place though to give a shot. I have never written this in a Yelp review: I genuinely think I was overcharged here. This was not a a one-dollar sign price, although it should have been. I had last-minute tickets to a Broadway show and needed a bite to eat quickly, so I came in here and got two slices of pizza (one plain cheese, one with a topping) and a water bottle. Keep in mind, this is not a fancy place; there aren't even waiters. It's a small spot where you grab food and sit down and eat it. My two slices and water bottle came out to $12.25!! The receipt I was handed didn't show anything itemized. I was shocked, but I had very little time before my show to argue things and had to accept it. There was nothing wrong with my pizza (which is why this is two stars instead of one), but even within a three-block radius, there are multiple pizza places like this. We stopped here on a whim. Definitely not the best pizza I've ever had. The toppings were good but lacking sauce. Definitely needed more sauce. But I expected more coming from NY. This place is more of a deli spot than a pizza spot, although it advertises pizza on a big display sign. This place is small, virtually no seating to actually enjoy your food. The customer service appeared to be lacking especially at the register. Maybe it's the standoffish attitude of New Yorkers. Who knows? Would I come back? Probably nope! Best pizza in the world at 3am!...but isn't it always? Well, who knows. But this was fucking excellent pizza. They have a great array of topping combinations. I went for a slice each of mushroom and pepperoni, then as soon as those went in the oven, I saw them pull out a fresh barbecue chicken pizza. So that made me sad but I convinced my friend to buy a slice so that I could sample. Then on our way out, we saw two guys with a barbecue chicken AND BACON pizza! What the hell--we were robbed! I think that those guys were gay and I probably could have convinced them to let me sample their slices...you know, with my incredible charm and stunning good looks. But I didn't try. But I bet that that pizza was amazing. Anyway, the point is that they have awesome topping combos. But the plain stuff is good too. Um, they also have a bunch of pastries, including giant-ass cookies and some pretty good cannolis. Oh, and they take credit cards, so don't make the mistake that I did of running out of the shop and sojourning half a mile down Eighth Avenue looking for a Chase ATM. The pizza here is anything but special. Mediocrity at best used as a last minute choice for a late night bite on Christmas Day. I had one large slice, whereas my husband had a couple of varieties of their take on pizza. I didn't like how thing the pizza was or lacking in flavor. My husband didn't really care either way because he was so hungry. One thing that does remain consistent with Crave is that it does have a huge variety of stuff. We sat at the table next to the check out counter and in front of the bottled drinks, and man, they had everything under the sun. They serve both Coke and Pepsi products, Arizona drinks, chocolate milk, and various sizes of bottled water to name just a few. The menu is also as extensive serving both sandwiches and desserts in addition to the sad pizza I consumed. They offer only high top seating or standing room. The line was out the door for mainly to-go orders, but we opted for dining in after being on our feet all day. This is a first come, first serve basis with not a lot of room for customers to roam. I'm a pretty harsh pizza reviewer, but I must say that for a salad/sandwich place, Carve has some pretty decent pizza. The cheese is oily and almost chewy. It's definitely American-style pizza, and though the crust is kinda Domino-ey but thinner, the taste kinda reminds me of the pizza of my childhood, before us teenage Long Islanders had even met anyone who had been to Italy. (Yep, I'm from that kinda part of Long Island) In any case, there's a LOT of bad pizza in the Times Square-Theatre District area, but this place rises two centimeters above the rest. And in Pizzaland, that's enough to get me to go back sometime, if only to avoid taking a chance on another pizza joint for the first time that could end up being much worse than Carve. read more

I'd just like to applaud this place. The last time I was in New York, a couple of years ago, I came here a couple of times, and was impressed. On my most recent 4 day trip, once again I was not let down. In that time span, I came here three times for breakfast and once for some pizza for dinner. They have the best breakfast platters and sandwiches around, and for a reasonable price, too. Not only do they have breakfast, but a wide selection of other things, too. Several different kinds of pizza, all fresh and delicious. Great sandwiches. A huge variety of desserts (amazing cheesecake and cannolis). A create-your-own salad bar. Carve is certainly the best cafe in Manhattan for quick and tasty food. With its central location (close to Times Square, on 8th ave), clean atmosphere, and friendly staff, this place definitely deserves a visit next time you're in the area. read more

I started my NY trip with this place and came full circle by leaving NY with my most favorite orange juice. This breakfast place was right next to the place we stayed and it gets quite the foot traffic, which naturally drew us to the place with the transparent building. The food is pretty average and the fruit bowls are definitely overpriced. A little fruit bowl was like $5 and their little cup of OJ was $4 or so. But damn. that is seriously the best orange juice I have ever had in my life. I hate Minute Maid since it is too sour and Sunny D is way too sweet. This was just perfect and the best part was that it had pulp! I love when my juice has pulp because I know its straight from the source and all natural. Carve was close to our hotel so we gave this place a try because we wanted to try as much pizza as we could from as many places as we could before going home. Also, I think it's a chain because we saw several places named "Carve" while walking down 8th street. We ordered: A slice of Barbecue Chicken (bbq sauce on top with mozzarella). A chocolate cannoli. We split the pizza right down the middle, and it was just okay. There was a lot of bbq sauce on top, and so much cheese and chicken that the whole thing was collapsing (need a fork and knife for this one!). The flavor was - chicken in bbq sauce with some mozzarella. The breading wasn't anything special either. I didn't eat the crust. I thought the cannoli was good - but I've never had one before, so I had nothing to judge it off of. However, it was not too sweet, and the filling was creamy and rich. Tonight however we stopped in for a sandwich after the show and after waiting for some time, we were told the line was at the other end, and refused service in favor of people who had just walked in. I cannot say enough about Carve on 46th and 8th Avenue! The staff is super friendly and helpful, you can create your own delicious salad with healthy fresh ingredients and I've tried about 4 pizza places here in NYC so far, and this is the best I've had! Who woulda thought? It's thin and crispy with great toppings, so worth trying. The prices are amazing too. The deserts are awesome, I tried all the different cannoli, all delicious, although the pastries are not made in house. Good coffee, I just keep coming back! read more
