I decided to come to carvers based on a recommendation. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be based on what I'd heard. I had the breakfast burrito mentioned in Ski magazine and it was pretty good. They didn't do the best job spreading out the ingredients. The eggs were completely on one side and everything else crammed on the other. It was still tasty and could easily feed 2 people. We used to love coming to Carvers when it was in the small house behind Cooper Creek Center. Ever since it moved to the bigger location off 40, it has lost its charm -- and friendliness. We were up for Labor Day weekend and headed there for our first morning - NO cinnamon rolls (which we used to race in to get before they sold out) !! I got the breakfast burrito. Asked for chorizo on it didn't find any. Was completely filled with beans and potatoes instead, very bland and gross to eat. Asked for onions on it, was told it was an up charge. 3 dollars to add chopped onions to that... Thing. Didn't improve the flavor. My wife had bacon and sausage, both came undercooked. And had to be sent back. Waitress was rude, was gone for long periods of time and overall was the worst service I have had in a long time. We came last year and it was better. This place has gone extremely downhill, do not recommend . make your own breakfast instead. At least you won't undercook your pork and give yourself food poisoning. read more

I'm pretty sure they had only one server for the whole restaurant because our server was running all over the place. However she did a good job, service was good, I'm a server myself so I understand! We've come here a half dozen times in the last few years and it's always been decent. Today was the first time visiting for lunch and it was even better than breakfast. The Reuben was one of the best I've ever had. The rye bread was amazing and the beef tender without any fat. I'm quite impressed. My toddler got a hamburger and fruit cup. WOW - talk about slow service. When will servers get that slow service for a group with kids is bad! Out of breakfast menu items, which I find very wrong for a restaurant that only serves breakfast and brunch. My son wanted the banana bread french toast, which for a "bakery" to be out of seems odd. Table next to us, also with kids younger than ours, wanted Cheerios, but they were told they were out of Cheerios. I ordered the Hulk scramble, and the main complaints I would have is the excess amount of spinach used (I picked most of it off) and the fact that it did not come with the green onion as listed on the menu. I basically ended up with scrambled eggs with Swiss cheese and avocados. I also ordered the Almond Joy Latte, which for $5 was not worth it. Taste was bad. Almost tasted like it had alcohol in it, but it was just the bad flavoring used. Two of my sons ordered the biscuits and gravy, which I tasted and the gravy did not seem to be a traditional sausage gravy. The meat in the gravy was a bit difficult to identify. My husband ordered the Highlander, and I'm pretty sure the corned beef hash was not fresh. Seemed to me to be the stuff from the can. My youngest, despite being upset that he couldn't have the banana bread french toast, got the Belgian waffle and ate the whole thing. We requested extra napkins and soda refills for two of my sons, and the server never followed through on those requests. Servers need to automatically know that extra napkins should just be brought to the table if there are kids. Not a bad place overall, but next time we're in Winter Park, I'll try somewhere else. read more

We had a table for 2 and they said about 5 minutes for a wait time. Two different large groups came after us and got seated right away, went back up to the hostess and she said another 10-15 minute wait. Finally got seated and no one came by to get our order, there were about 3 other open tables and the waitress helped everyone in our area but us. After 10 minutes of sitting down and no one coming by we decided to leave. Terrible terrible service. read more

If I could give it a 0 star review, I would. That was the worst service I've ever received. When we got seated we waited 15 minutes then finally had to go find our own menus. Then she told me I could only have 3 when there was 7 of us. Then a waiter came up and asked us for one of our 3 menus so he could give it to someone else? Then the waitress gave us so much attitude that we walked out. When this whole time a family who got seated after us, already had their food? We asked for a table for two and the hostess told us 5-10 min as it was somewhat busy. By the time 10 min had passed, two larger groups had come in and were sat almost immediately. We asked again how much longer and they said 15-20 min. We tried to leave and they caught us and said they were clearing off a table for us. So they sat us at one of the several empty tables and left us with menus and silverware. We waited 10 minutes for a server to at least bring us some water and coffee, and even though there were staff in our area running back and forth serving the bigger tables (who were seated after we were). Had a terrible brunch exprience here this morning. We were told that our wait would be 20 minutes. We waited 40. We asked to sit outside. They sat us inside. We then ordered and waited almost an hour for our food. Tables that were seated after us recieved their food before us. When the food finally came it was equally disappointing. Undercooked bacon and potatos and no cheese on my bacon, egg, and cheese omlette. The staff wasn't unfriendly, but seemed unorganized and frazzled. Our coffee cups sat unfilled and we had to grab condiments ourselves. It may have just been an off day, but I recommend skipping this place. Not worth it. read more

I ordered the cajun turkey sandwich. The homemade wheat bread was completely stale. You'd think the person making the sandwich would notice really dry, stiff bread. When the server finally came back when we had finished eating, I asked if the bread was toasted. She said it wasn't. I asked for fresh bread for the uneaten half. She brought me a slice of bread cut in half. I asked her to take my half sandwich back to the kitchen, have it reassembled, and wrapped for me to take with me. I would never go back. Next time I will go back to Fontenot's, in the same plaza, which has very fresh and delicious food. read more
