Stopped by on a Sunday brunch hour (party of 2). Waited about 30 minutes. Noticed several open tables. Guessing enough space but not enough staff? Finally sat by someone who seemed like a manager that had entered the picture and seemed to be expediting the wait list. Ordered biscoff latte, disappointed to find out it comes with 1 shot of espresso. I'd like to think I'm paying for more than just milk and syrup. Added extra shot and it was almost 2.50 per extra shot. Ordered huevos rancheros and chilaquiles verdes. The food had good flavor. Not great, but good. Not overly spicy, chose chicken and was roughly 30 minutes to come out. Minimally waited on. Forgot to bring out waters till about the end. Clearly understaffed on a Sunday. Was not the worst experience but most likely would not recommend or return. Huge concha for about $40 seems overkill, skipped it. Meter parking around the area so beware. Make reservations. Cool decor and clean bathrooms. For some reason there's wicker baskets for the trash. Not sure that's the best idea. Would reconsider that whole bathroom situation. read more

I stopped by after seeing their giant coffee and giant concha, if I were a true coffee drinker, I definitely would've ordered one, but sadly I'm not. Instead, I got the strawberry matcha, and it was delicious, not overly sweet, just perfectly balanced. I also ordered a skillet, which was full of flavor and very satisfying. The only downside is that it's a bit on the pricey side, but given that it's located in the heart of the Gaslamp, it's understandable. The restaurant itself is beautiful and very clean, the staff provides excellent customer service, and the music is at a comfortable volume, perfect if you want to sit and work or just enjoy the space. Highly recommend and let me know how the giant coffee they also do it for Mexican hot chocolate. read more

I stopped in Casa Friday for some breakfast and coffee. I ordered the avocado toast at a whopping $15 and an Americano black at $4 and some change. The coffee was okay, but it had a bitter after taste so I asked for a little milk to help mellow it out and it did. The avocado toast arrived on two slice of wheat toast. It looked very nice upon arrival, but it was lacking in flavor. They put an avocado spread and freshly sliced avocado on top as well. They put crushed pepper and chili flakes, but a coarse sea salt would have really helped this toast get over its one dimensional flavor profile. Also, they should consider using a more thicker artisan bread for better texture. Keeping up with the Mexican theme, the addition of some queso fresco on top of the avocado toast would have been just grand. The place offers a variety of Mexican breakfast, lunch, and dinner classics with a lot of up charges on several of their items, such as chilaquiles and enchiladas, specifically for proteins and such. There's plenty of inside seating. The place offers some nice art work and decorations. The service was pleasant. My server Magda was very nice and friendly. Stopped by for brunch and it was fantastic. We ended up sitting at the bar, and the bartenders were friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. There was a wait for a table, but if you don't mind sitting at the bar, you'll get served right away since there's plenty of seating. The food and drinks came out quickly, and they even made the modifications I requested without any issues. Everything was delicious and exactly what I was looking for. The decor and atmosphere were beautiful, and the whole place had a great vibe. I finished brunch with a shot of mezcal, and it was the perfect way to top off the meal. I'll definitely be back. Terrible service. They didn't check on us and we were the only customers in the restaurant. The ambiance does not make up for the terrible service. The food was below decent with no seasoning. This business just opened and saw it on my social media page and decided to give it a try! Beautifully decorated! They have a back room with a fake tree giving Cocina 35 vibes. They have a QR menu and offer a dinner option after 4pm. It's street parking and since it's in downtown it's a hit or miss. I ordered the chilaquiles which I think were okay but didn't have flavor enough to want more. I preferred a side of the chile verde side just to try it out and it was okay. The cafe de olla was okay but not my favorite. I requested the check and it took them awhile to get to me, maybe about 5-10 minutes and since my parking meter was running out I got up to see if I can pay upfront that's when the waitress stopped me midway and I paid. Super cute place with great potential. The plates look 10/10 however tastes wise is meh ok. 3/10 Chilaquiles were dry. Milanesa was fried ground beef not an actual thin sliced piece of meat. We were really excited to check out this spot. The food was good--just a little underwhelming; the chipotle chilaquiles weren't very spicy and kind of lacked flavor. Also, they got my order wrong, but no big deal--I won't hold it against them, haha. The waiter was attentive and checked in on us a few times, which was nice. We did have to remind them about our drinks a couple of times, though. What really made a difference was how friendly the staff was--especially the manager, Jasmine. I normally dont write reviews but that's how terrible this place was. They said they were out of nearly every latte, btw we came for a Sunday morning brunch. The hostess sat us in the second extended room (no other guests in this dining room) the workers sat at the bar in this room during their brakes. One of the male staff members was rubbing the other female staff members feet (just socks on). The server took forever to take our order, took forever to check in on us at all. We had to look around aimlessly after waiting 30 minutes without being checked in on. I'm a former service waitress myself so I give grace but this was ridiculous. Was in SD (San Diego) saw this place on tik tok and thought I'd stop by and check it out. The waiting time was like 25-30 but in reality lasted like 15 minutes at the very least. Walking in the staff greeted us with really friendly smiling and made us feel welcome. I went with 3 other people so they wanted to also see what was the big fuzz bout the BIG concha bread and BIG hot chocolate it was that or coffee so ended up with the easy way out and got ourselves the hot chocolate. Let me tell you it was really nice hot perfect way to start our morning. Wanted to try out the food but the concha and hot chocolate filled me up in which I was bummed out as I was looking forward to trying out the chilaquiles. Also got an espresso tonic which I know isn't for everyone but I personally loved it and love that you can choose a syrup to make it more flavorful! This restaurant was an absolute headache from the moment we got the bill. We were a group of four, yet somehow they decided to stick us with a large party fee. That alone was ridiculous. Then they charged $10 for a tiny 2oz Baileys shot on top of the coffees we already paid for. And the worst part?
