The waiter places us in a table that barely fit 3 not counting plates when the food was ordered . I told the waiter I wanted a bigger table . He said other times 3 people have fit at the table . Your party can fit at that table. I was trying to eat Comfortably. The waiter Got mad at me for asking for a bigger table . Once again it was at approximately 2:30 pm there was plenty of room. The waiter was so upset he was complaining that others have fit why not you guys. I said you know what I don't want to bother you any more so I told my party let's go. The waiter got mad again as we were walking out and he said in Spanish este gente esta fregando. It's too bad some of the wait staff have an attitude problem. I've heard the food is good at Fonda don chon . I guess I'll never find out .

I confronted Jorge about letting those other groups in ahead of everyone else. His response was that he knew them personally and that they were friends of the restaurant owners. That explanation only made the situation worse. My wife had just finished a 14-hour hospital shift, and we came here hoping to enjoy the game together. Instead, we spent three hours waiting only to be treated as though our time didn't matter. What was most shocking was Jorge's attitude. He literally told me, "They won't do anything to me if you post this. I'm friends with the owner." If that's the mindset of management, it's no surprise customers are treated this way. It truly felt like only friends and family received special treatment while everyone else was left waiting without honesty or respect. Let me start by saying how *amazing* the staff is at Casa Moreno! I used to dine with them regularly at their Claremont location years ago, and now that my business is in Glendora, I was excited to visit their Downtown Covina spot--and I was not disappointed! The ambiance is cozy and vibrant, making it the perfect place to unwind after a long day. The bartender? Absolutely incredible, especially when it comes to crafting the perfect jalapeño margaritas! Every sip had just the right amount of kick and flavor. What really sets Casa Moreno apart, though, is the personal touch. The owner is such an inspiring woman--she took the time to check in on our large party multiple times, ensuring we were having the best experience. She was so engaged with both her customers and her team, which made the whole night feel special and welcoming. Now onto the real star of the show--the FOOD! Wow, wow, WOW! If you're craving traditional Mexican food done right, this is the place to be. The shredded beef tacos were packed with flavor and so tender, and the chicken green pozole was seriously to die for--comfort in a bowl! I try to eat locally once a week. The last couple months I've been going to various restaurants in Downtown Covina. I've come to enjoy the pleasant dining experience here. My granddaughter enjoys sitting on the outside patio and seeing the cars drive down the road. I have yet to try out everything on the menu, but I really like the meals I've had so far. I usually get a big burrito. The carnitas are my favorite. Just had a plate of carnitas nachos tonight and they were screamin! Delicious. Even if I don't particularly feel like mexican food I have been going here just because it's a nice time out. Love to eat in the fresh air. The service in excellent. They treat us as valued guests. The entire staff is great. As another review mentioned, Joslyn will go the extra mile for you to get anything you may need but all their servers are really friendly. Another thing I like is the cleanliness. They clean well. Restrooms are always stocked. Soap and paper towels. Probably cleanest restrooms on Citrus. That's important for a busy place. It's gross if a place is very busy and all the people going in and out have no soap, or towels. They always keep a clean stocked restroom.... almost forgot... get a side of guacamole. We recently hosted a Celebration of Life for our Dad at Casa Moreno and it was wonderful. We worked with Monica who manages the banquet events at the restaurant. From the beginning, we were impressed with her communication and follow-up as we went through the planning process. Monica helped us with great ideas for the menu, drinks, and room setup. We live in another state, but she made the planning process simple and easy for us. Upon our arrival, the banquet room was set up exactly as planned. We bought flowers and vases the day before the event. We had planned to place the vases on each table, but the staff had already done it for us. The banquet room looked fabulous. The guests praised the delicious and high-quality food. The servers were on top of every detail and displayed a positive, cheerful attitude. They clearly enjoyed their work, making a positive impact on the guest's experience. This event was an important milestone in our lives. My boyfriend and I tried this Casa Moreno location in Downtown Covina recently, and we really enjoyed the food. We sat at the bar to watch the Dodgers-Diamondbacks game, and the bartender - RYAN - told us that we could order food at the bar. So, after Ryan brought us some complimentary chips & salsa and two large mugs of Bohemia beer on draft, we ordered the large bowl of Albondigas Soup and the Mole Poblano. The soup was very filling and tasted great. If I came here alone, the soup would have been enough for me. The Mole Poblano also was excellent. The chicken was tenderized by the wonderful mole sauce, and everything on the plate paired well with the corn tortillas we ordered. (You get a choice between corn and flour tortillas; I recommend getting the corn tortillas). For everything, our bill was only $46.98 (before tip). YUM & YAY! read more

First things first - COVID precautions! everyone is taking it really seriously. tables are spread out. outside dining only. sanitization station available at check in. servers all wearing masks. there was live music tonight but the singer was well away from any patrons to prevent spread. the food! nachos were unbelievable. beans were especially to die for as was the steak. i expected lame shredded beef and we got true carne asada. chips were loaded and barely a naked chip among them. the salsa was very good too. definitely do not get the 22 oz house margarita though. was there even any alcohol in there? i think not. service! I've always really liked this restaurant -- the food is consistently great, and the atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for both casual meals and business lunches. However, during my visit yesterday with a couple of vendors, I was disappointed to learn that they no longer serve chips and salsa until you order your entree. We were there to enjoy a drink and chat before ordering, so it was frustrating to be told we couldn't have chips in the meantime. I understand every restaurant has its policies, but this one felt a bit unwelcoming, especially considering how common it is to offer chips and salsa as part of the dining experience. That said, I still really enjoy this place and hope they reconsider that policy -- it would make the overall experience much more enjoyable again. read more

Flour tortilla tostadas are fairly common, I ordered one that was better than any I can remember, DELICIOUS! My girlfriend ordered chicken enchiladas that were decadently flavorful. Margarita on the rocks no salt, tastes like being on vacation here at home. Wait staff was cordial and on-the-spot. We were so happy to have such a positive experience on our first visit. The entertainment was amazing once again like being on vacation in Mexico here at home. These young ladies (Grupo Bella) were the icing on the cake awesome music and vocals. This is a really nice restaurant. The atmosphere is pleasant as it has a nice patio area and you can enjoy inside or outside dining. Nice during summer evenings and even in the winter as there are well working outdoor furnaces. The service is friendly, they treat their customers kindly. The food is tastes good and is served very quickly. Often there is live entertainment that is enjoyable to listen to. I have no complaints about this restaurant. Anytime I choose to dine here I have an enjoyable experience. I've been waited on by nearly every server there. They are all great and friendly. WARNING....STAY AWAY FROM THIS ESTABLISHMENT!!!! DON'T LET THE NICE DECOR FOOL YOU!!!! If you are planning a large event in the banquet room you must be warned that the staff at this restaurant needs a lesson or two on customer service and interpersonal communication. Because of the Manager's poor communication skills and poor judgment a party that took alot of planning ended in a disaster. Horrible service. Waitress is a greedy witch. Asked for more salsa was told there's a fee. Asked for some sour cream was told theres a fee. Wasnt allowed to order drink at bar and sit down. "Had to order through her cause shes our server not the bartender". Staff Had attitude the whole time. I went for my anniversary dinner and she ruined the whole thing. I couldnt leave fast enough. Food took forever to come out ( ordered nachos only). All while listening to a bunch of arrogant people bash Mexicans! Ridiculous place just awful! read more

Stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday, we're glad we did. If it were not for yelp we'd have never known this place served breakfast as it definitely looked more of a bar than a restaurant. We ordered the Casa Moreno omelet and bowl of Menudo. The food was good but no better than you'd get at any Mexican joint in the area. The prices are fair and there's lots of good parking in the back. What sets them apart was the service and decor, which was excellent. All the waitstaff gave us fast service with a smile. read more

had heard about this restaurant several times, but I had never been. So, the other night when my boyfriend and I were looking for a new restaurant to visit, we decided to go to Casa Moreno. It's a tiny place in Downtown Covina. We went on a Tuesday night so the place was almost empty, and it was easy to find parking. I noticed that they had a full bar and a list of specialty margaritas. 5 Stars! Casa Moreno is one of our favorite spots in town! The pozole is absolutely delicious--rich, flavorful, and perfectly comforting. We're also big fans of Mole Plate, which never disappoints. The service is always top-notch, with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The ambience is warm and inviting, and the live mariachi music on Fridays adds the perfect festive touch. This was my first time eating at Casa Moreno and my last. The food was far from being Mexican. I ordered the torts with fries, the meat was very hard and the fries were very greasy. The waiters kept coming to our table every 5min each time it was a different one, very annoying. There margaritas were way over priced for what we received. This is my favorite Mexican place in the city. me and my wife come here with friends and family at least once every other week. All the servers are very friendly and always make you feel at home. I favor the Chile verde burrito and As for my wife she Fancy's the arroz con pollo. Oh and You can't go wrong with the famous Casa Moreno Margarita!! If your in town don't miss out! read more

Just tried to eat here for my third time. I really enjoyed the first two times but this time I was so disappointed. I thought I found a great place to eat that was fast enough to eat on my lunch but no. Service was bad and the food gets way more expensive after lunch. I am so disappointed. read more

Best margaritas in downtown Covina! I can say that this is the best Mexican food in downtown Covina. There mole is a fantastic family recipe. Casa Moreno is my favorite mole and the servers there are the kindest and are always willing to make a recommendation. read more

Some of the meat and tacos could've used a little bit more salt, but I thought it was all well-made. The service was great and it was filled with a lot of people enjoying their dinner. Salsa and chips were provided and were refillable. I also loved that their drinks were refillable as well. Unfortunately, one of my friends had waited for their item, but the kitchen forgot. Other than that, it was fantastic. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
